TWAIN scanning via AIR?

I know that this question was asked before, but it's been over a year...so I just wanted an update.  Can AIR access TWAIN scanning devices?
thanks,
Bryan

Thanks for the fast response! Deleting library/containers/com.apple.preview and the scan with preview worked!
Thanks also to ShlomiL, repair permissions found some errors, but there was still no scan via preview possible.
Scanning via "Digital Pictures" or "Image capture" worked all the time, but I was used to take "Preview" for scanning. "Digital Pictures has nearly the same frame, but offers a folder selector (see also the threat of Linc Davis).
Remains the question what the german manual will tell us with (via help: scan a picture - use a flat bed scanner - extended options: "select with Einblendmenü (fade-in menu?) the location for the scanned pictures. If you use a folder, all pictures will be stored in this folder, if you use an app, pictures will be opened by this app." ???
Would be interesting if this would work!
Anyway - thanks for the help

  • A "HP Twain Scan" function in the "Print and Scan Doctor" app - Solution?

Frustration!! Why can't I get the scanning portion of subject printer to work on my laptop Windows 7 (64-bit)!?? I've tried the Print and Scan Doctor several times, and the same dysfunction says "HP Twain Scan" whatever that means or is? I've pulled out the cords, all of 'em, and it still not helping.  Did I purchase a printer that is not compatible with my laptop? As far as the scanning portion is concerned, or what?  I can print OK, both from website/emails and my own documents.  I do a lot of scanning (photos mostly), and so this will be a sad problem.Hoping someone out there in techland can give me a solution. • Can't get itunes to connect to airport express via air tunes

    Hi,
I just bought and installed an airport express (for windows 7) everything is now connected but i can't get itunes to recognize my airport express via air tunes. I can see the multiple speakers in itunes, but when i click on it to connect to airport it just comes up with connecting, loads for about a minute then minimizes without connecting.
Has anyone else experienced this? How can i get this to work?
    Message was edited by: Toddy85

You've probaby solved this by now, but if not... When upgrading itunes on a Vista or Windows 7 machine with Windows Firewall running for some reason Bonjour can't get through the firewall and thus Airplay does not work. Not good when all your Hi-fi's are connected via airport express!
I found to resolve the issue you have to install an older version of Bonjour. It won't work if you try to do this straight from Apple.  So try this...
    1. Firstly install and older version of itunes from the web (say version 10.1) Try www.oldapps.com
    2. Then find the Bonjour file in program files
    3. Cut and paste it to your desktop with its contents
    4. Uninstall itunes and Bonjour via your control panel (the desktop file of Bonjour you moved will still be there).
    5. Install your new version of itunes, say version 10.5, from the apple website.
    6. Before opening it go to program files and cut the (newly installed) Bonjour file and paste it somewhere different to the desktop (you can't just delete it). It does not matter where you won't be needing it.
    7. Now Cut and paste the old version of Bonjour you stuck on the desktop in Program files in place of the one you just moved.
    8. Hey presto, Airplay, Windows firewall and your Airport Express' should all get on again.
    Hope this works...

  • OfficeJet 8600 won't scan via RDP

    Hello everyone
We've just installed a new multifunctional here in our company.
The computers specified bellow are running Windows XP service pack 3 x86. Our printer is an OfficeJet 8600 all-in-one.
We are using it through cable, in our network, for specific computers, which actually are virtual machines in our main server, accessed by thinclients that runs on Win7 Pro x86/64.
So we configured the printer in the web interface without any problem, we also installed the latest software version in our virtual machines and the printer was recognized successfully and is working properly. We did not install anything refered to this printer in our thinclients.
Our issue is the scanner. Whenever we try to open it, when we're accessing the virtual machine via remote desktop protocol, the device is not found and Windows shows up an error saying:
"It's not possible to scan - It was not possible to find the software of digitalization or the scanner is not connected. Make sure the scanner and the software of digitalization are installed properly."
If we try to scan via the virtual machine manager program, which equals to access the virtual machines locally, the scanner works great.
If we try to scan via a local computers, running either windows xp or 7, the scan never fails.
But as soon as we access any machine via RDP it fails, even if it's not a virtual machine, but a local machine accessed this way, we get that error.
We updated the printer firmware to the latest one, avaliable on HP's site - CLP1CN1304AR.
We also tested with firewalls disabled, unsuccessfully.
We are working with fixed ip on it. We have the wifi turned off. We are not using web services. We did not register the product in the installation procedure.
A curious notable thing is when we try to scan from the printer to the virtual machine, the display shows an error after some time saying that the computer could not be found. I don't know if this could be related to the main issue itself, im just pointing as a possible clue.
We would be thankful for any help or idea to solve our problem!
Thanks for attention, i will be watching the topic!

doesnt HP support remote scanning on HP OJ 8600?

  • Where's the Twain Scanning Driver?

In my older version of Adobe Photoshop 8 it lets you choose between the WIA and Twain drivers when scanning, but Elements is only letting me choose WIA.  I hate WIA because of it's limitations. With the Twain driver I have a lot more scanning options. How do I get to use the Twain scanning drivers in Adobe Elements 10?  Thanks for your help and time!

The TWAIN filter is in this directory:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Optional Plug-Ins\Import-Export\Twain_32.8BA"
    Copy it into this directory:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins\Import-Export"

I have an HP 4500 printer connected to airport extreme with usb.  All our portable notebooks print via air but cannot get iPad to be recognized for printing.  Do I really have to have one of the other HPs listed?

    Rufus Cat-
Even if it was compatible, AirPrint does not work through a USB link, only Ethernet or WiFi.
I do not see your HP 4500 listed on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>  Therefore you need to take another approach.  To start, I suggest you download the free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz.  It has limitations, but should get you printing with your existing setup.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share and PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.
Your best option may be to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Programs that are reported to do that well are Printopia and FingerPrint.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh>  <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

  • Pixma won't print after scanning via USB

My Pixma MG3200 series wireless printer was working fine until I had to scan something. Learned that it won't scan via wireless, so I attached the USB cable that came with the machine, scanned, then removed the cable. Have not been able to print wirelessly since then.
I did find that it was marked to use the printer offline (which matched the message I was getting), so I removed that checkmark. Still no printing. I restarted my laptop and it now says Printer Ready. Still no printing, but it now pops up with Printer Not Responding, and of course all it says in the Print Queue is Error - no explanation or link to assistance. Help!

    Hi opus88,
The PIXMA MG3222 can scan wirelessly over your network, however, the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX will need to be running on your computer, and the printer will need to be selected in that program.
We recommend reinstalling the drivers and software for the printer from the Canon USA website to get your printer back online.  The following link will take you to the initial download page for your PIXMA MG3222:
PIXMA MG3222 Drivers and Software page
Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:
    1.  Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2.  Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "RECOMMENDED FOR YOU" section and click the MINI MASTER SETUP file.  When you do, another page will appear giving details of the file you are about to download will appear.
    3.  Please scroll down on the Details page and agree to the terms of the disclaimer message to continue with the download process by clicking on the "I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD" button.  After clicking the "I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD" button, follow the instructions to download and install the driver.  The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once you have downloaded the drivers for the printer, please follow the steps above to download the Quick Menu and My Image Garden software for the printer.  Next, please click the red arrow next to the SOFTWARE section on the webpage to display and download the other software for the printer.
If you are unable to scan wirelessly after reinstalling the drivers and software, you may need to select the printer in the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX and IJ Scan Utility programs.  To do this, please follow the steps located at the link below:
    PIXMA MG3222 Network Scan Settings
    Hope this helps!

  • HP Deskjet 1050 J410 scanning via router not working

    Hi all,
I have my printer connected to an Apple Airport Express via USB. Printing via wifi with my laptop works just fine but scanning doesn't work. When I try to scan via my laptop, I get a message that connection to the scanner is not possible. I've looked up port forwarding but don't think that could be the issue, since printing is working fine. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Thomas

Connecting the printer to the router by USB is not a supported configuration.  The problem is, in order to scan, you need the software, and there is no way to install the software on the router and so you cannnot scan.  You might be able to scan to an SD card as a work around but I doubt you are going to find a solution to this problem.  I hope that helps.

  • Unable to scan via Airport from Mac to Officejet Pro L7680

I am running )S 10.7.5 on a MacBook.  Set up Airport for wireless printing.  Can't scan via Airport and can't get it to give me set up options.  removed/reinstalled software-drivers.  any suggestions?  I don't want to have to plug in the device everytime I want to scan. requires changing config.  etc, pain in the neck.

    Hi castagmc,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue when attempting to get the new Yosemite driver installed for the printer.
I do have some suggestions that we can try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please remove the usb cable from the printer and from the Mac and leave it disconnected until further notice.
I have a link that I am going to give you that gives detailed instruction for Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the uninstall is complete, please restart the Mac to have the changes take affect.
When the Mac is back up and running, disable any anti virus protection you may running. We do not want anything getting in the way when we reinstall.
The next step is to download and install the HP Officejet Pro 8600 series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
The installation will prompt you as to when to connect the usb cable so please do not connect it before hand.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • TWAIN Scanning set-up

    1. Installed Microsoft PROFESSIONAL 7 OPERATING SYSTEM
    2. In the course of using my HP Desktop F4280 printer for scanning, it only allow me use WIA. I like TWAIN much better for I am able to reduce the size of the scan.  I am using Paperport 12
    3. How do I get the printer to do a TWAIN scan instead of WIA? Am I missing a driver for TWAIN>
Any help or ideas is appreciated.
    TY

Greetings! Welcome to the forums, JKeeney
I read your post about the issue you are having with scanning on your Windows 8 system. I will gladly help out where I can!
I would first suggest trying make a copy or two to make sure there is nothing wrong with the printers hardware. If the copies work fine, move on to the next suggestion.
Run the Print and Scan Doctor tool to see if that will fix the scanning problem.
You can also try disabling your firewall and trying to scan again to rule out the firewall blocking the communication.
A firmware update might also help, check and if available, update it: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.
I hope that helps, let me know the results.
    Have a great day!

  • Scan Via FTP

    Hi
I have a Printer/copier that can scan via ftp. No software was supplied to scan via ftp for Mac.
However I can scan to FTP in Windows.
    Any ideas?
    Thank in advance

What do you mean scan to FTP in Windows? I really can't wrap my head around how this works exactly.
The Windows box is an FTP server and the scanner FTPs the files to it or you run an FTP client on the Windows box and FTP into the scanner and get the files?

  • Scanning via Bluetooth

After initially installing my new HP Photosmart C309g-m All-In-One printer via the installer (through USB) on the HP website, I had no success connection to it via Bluetooth after installation.
After stumbling across a few articles on here I found Snow Leopard has got it pre-installed, I uninstalled and installed using the Snow Leopard Add Printer/Fax. It installed it on bluetooth no problem.
    Printing works fine!
However, the bluetooth connection will not let me scan? The old USB connection has a 'Print' and 'Scan' tab at the top of the Print & Fax page in system preferences. The Bluetooth connection only has the information regarding printing?
Is there a way to enable scanning via bluetooth? A few other questions on here have been asked about similar topics, but I had no success.
    Any help welcome!
    Chris

Is this supported in Windows? I doubt this is possible in Mac OS X. The relevant BIP profiles are missing in Mac OS X.
