Sure, they will give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod and purchase a new one.
Have you tried the stand fixes for your iPod:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • MacBook freezing and crashing/running slow, problem with external hard drive

I've been having some issues for the past couple months with my laptop randomly freezing, usually when I have a lot happening. I've ended up having to hard-restart it several times because it will just hang and I can't get into the menu at all to force quit things.  In the past couple days, it's now started crashing completely, although restarting okay. This last time, though, it crashed while I was trying to empty the trash and since then it's been crazy slow and not very responsive.I tried running disk utility and ccleaner, and although they repaired some stuff they didn't fix the problem.
I think iTunes might be the issue. I was trying to move my music library when this last thing started. I have it all on an external hard drive, and I was trying to move it from one folder to another. I tried repairing the external hard drive with disk utility to see if that was the issue, but now my files have all vanished and the external appears blank.
I also recently installed BootCamp, if that makes a difference.
I'm mostly just really unsure what to do. I don't want to do anything to the external because I need to recover the stuff that was on it, but I also need my laptop to be usable.

Thanks for the response. I tried booting in recovery mode and running disk utility again and that seemed to help. It's still hanging when I plug in the external hard drive but otherwise seems to be working okay. My main issue now is the invisible files. I tried booting in Windows, planning to install Recuva to try and get the files back. However, they show up fine there. This is a relief but I'm not totally sure what is happening. I'm guessing the disk has somehow mounted incorrectly on the mac portion but I'm not sure how to fix that. I'm about to restart on the other partition and see what's going on there.

  • Firefox sometimes freezes up or runs slow and I can't find it on my c drive where it should be at.

I started running slow and some times I freeze up and says non responding.Than when I tried to uninstall it and start over it doesn't appear to be on my program 86 folder at all and I tried in safe mode and still ran slow and stuff.

    Hi.
If you've bought it from iTunes, you should be able to re-download it for free.
Download directly from iPod by going to the iTunes Store-App and find the "Purchased"-menu. From here you should get a complete list of all your bought items and the ability to re-download.
Download from iTunes on PC/Mac by opening iTunes > Go to iTunes Store > Go to the menubar on the left and choose "Purchased". Now, from the appearing window select the proper categori on top of the screen.
    I hope this was helpful.

  • My Mac won't Shut Down and is running Slow

It began with my Mac not shutting down or restarting.  The shutdown process will end with a white screan and the thinking icon in the center.
Slowly, over a few weeks, the comuter began running slowly.  Now my apps seem to be freezing on me often.  iPhoto, Aperature, & Light Room have all frozen on me at some point.  Other programs run slow.
Do I have a hardware problem?
    A Virus?
thanks in advance for your help.

First question is how much free disk space do you have?  Generally, around 10%+ is needed for OS X usage.

  • My macbook pro is lagging, freezing, and fan runs at full blast. How can I fix it?

When I start up my 2010 Macbook Pro now, the fan starts running as soon as the spinning gear appears below the apple logo, the boot up is insanely slow, the mouse doesn't track well with my trackpad movements, and trying to open programs often leads to a non-responsive program with the pinwheel of death spinning for minutes at a time.  I try to shut it down (takes approx. 20 min. now) and when the screen goes black, the fan continues full blast.  After that I can boot up the computer and it runs normally, but the whole process takes about 50 minutes longer than it should, especially with a relatively new SSD (~ 8 months old).  Has anyone seen anything like this before or does anyone know how to fix it?
It loads well enough in safe boot, and I've tried cutting out most of the apps that launch at startup with poor results.  I've also tried resetting the SMC with equally poor results.  I need help!
Here's my Etresoft report as well.

Remove Growl, DiVXHTML and other DIVX software (use MPEG4Streamclip or Smartconverter or Wondershare Videoconverter for videos you need to convert for your own use, and not for giving to others unless you own the copyright for it).  Update your Adobe Flash from http://www.adobe.com/
Shut down  Parallels except when you need to use.  Disable Citrix and your File Sharing for VPN or remote access for Citrix except for when you use remote access.  Find out how to remove Peerguardian.  The Mac has its own firewall which blocks all except ping attacks through Apple menu -> System Preferences -> File Sharing.  Use a hardware router to block ping attacks.  Parallels has its own built-in networking firewall for Parallels itself.

  • IPod Touch videos won't show then crash and apps respond slow

Here's the deal, I bought his iPod a couple months ago, 3rd generation 64GB and I could put videos on it fine and they would come up and I could play them, now since I updated it with 4.2 or 4.1 software from iTunes everything's running slower. My iPod takes longer to respond when I open an app or it just crashes and brings me back home. My video (standard) app won't even show any of my videos, it's just a white screen and then crashes. What happened and how do I fix it?

I'm also having the same problem with the Videos app - interestingly enough, also with a 64GB 3rd Gen. Touch running 4.2.1 (build 8C148). Try to open Video app, it goes to white screen for a bit, then quits.
Checked out another thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12678404&#12678404) and experienced the same behaviors as well: temporarily works if you change languages; restoring as a new iPod does NOT fix issue; music videos seem to play fine (though it seems to repeat a video, rather than move on to the next); and all that.
The more I read about it, the more this seems to be a glitch in iOS. Moreover, it seems to be related to music videos somehow. Seems that the Music Videos and regular moves aren't playing nice.
While music videos do play in the Music app, that's not particularly convenient for me. Going off one of the posts in the above-mentioned thread, I'm going to tray a temporary fix of relabeling my "Music Videos" to "Movies". Seemed things went wrong when Music Videos entered the picture. While a work-around, for me it's a little more usable than the inverse.
Will report back whether or not this temporary fix works until Apple can release an update addressing this problem.

  • My mac freezes and is incredibly slow

I have a one-year-old Macbook Pro that is 15 minutes out of support coverage. It is the worse Mac I've owned in over 20 years. It is without question the S L O W E S T mac I've ever owned. I am running OS X 10.9 with 16 GB of memory.
Press the start button, here are some times I experience.
1:55 until the password screen appears
3:15 I get a message to log onto iCloud. I've never used iCloud and don't have an account.
6:00 The desktop and Dock appear.
7:00 The first application may be usable.
Applications crash all day long. Firefox is the worst. I spend a good part of the day watching the beach ball spin.
The Force Quit function rarely works.
Several times a day I must hold the power button down to forcibly shut down the computer because everything has frozen. I then have to press it again to restart.
I run Sophos anti-virus software and often run Disk Utility to verify the disk and repair permissions.
The Mac store people told me running Mountain Lion was much slower and now I cantestify Maverick is much worse.
Can Apple send me a 10.7 OS disk? Can I drop back to that OS and not lose everything on my computer?
Is Apple aware they have problems and are they trying to fix them?

    Go to WSM Preferences/Transfer.
Server Address is your server ID number. It will be a string like 72.19.26.163
Server Time - Click the "Get it" button
Initial path is the name of the main folder on your server that contains all your website files.
Username and Password are the ones that get you into your server control panel.
If you don't know or can't get the server number or initial path ask your hosting company's tech support.

  • My mind 2014 macbook pro keeps freezing and is very slow after the yosemite update

HI my macbook 2014 model keeps freezing and it is very slow after i had updated it to yosemite

Why don't you try these: ( might or might not help, but it's worth a try )
See what you have loading on your login items.
Open up activity momitor, under All Procesess, see what's using most of your CPU resources (%).
Hightlight the one using the highest % on the CPU then click on quit process and see if that works.
Once you're done with that, go to Disk Utility and do a verify disk.  After that, do a verify disk permission and repair if needed.
    See if that helps you.

  • IPad 1 updates makes apps run slower and crash

    Hello everyone,
I have 34 updates in the app store until now, i always updated everything to the latest but noticed things are getting slower and very crashy, the updates are obtimized for newer ipads so likewise it gets slower on the old ipad, i dunno why it notifies an ipad one user to update?? Its not for me!
So, should i keep updating apps?? Sometimes i think that its intended by apple to get old ipads not to work properly to get me think about a new ipad, well devices  like ipad is not something to discard after a while you know, i will stick with it until it burns or somethin :P

As far as I know - you can't update apps if they are for the new iOS only. The apps shouldn't update and you should get a message that the updates will not work on your iOS.
Tap on app icon that needs to be updated and read the description first. Don't tap on "Update". Read the requirements first. If the primary reason for the update is that it is optimized for iOS 6, then don't update it - even it even can be updated that is.
Some basic troubleshooting might help when the iPad gets "crashy". Try these and see if they help.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad and make a fresh start. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or try this ....Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • All apps running slow in one account and not the others on my iMac

I have iMac (intel) 20" with Lion 10.7.3 with 4 GB of RAM. The problems is that  one of my accounts all the applications run very very slow.
This account is one of two admin accounts. None of the other accounts have this problems. Does anyone have a suggest of what I can do.
I have tried reloading Safari, thinking it might be related to the recent flashback virus. I event downloaded a script from Mashable and they indicated that there was no Flashback Virus on my iMac. I also download that latest update from Apple for the JVM
So my questions is what is causing only one of my user accounts to be very very slow and it seems to be affecting all the applications.

Most likely corrupt or conflicting preferences files. While logged into the good admin account, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option (which stores the data in /Users/Deleted Users/ as a disk image), recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.
