  • Need Replacement Twin Frozr ii/ Twin Frozr ii Fans

I broke one of the fans on my Twin Frozr ii (finger meet fan). It seems impossible to find a dual linked module of 80mmx80x10 PWM fans online.
I was wondering, does anyone have a spare Twin Frozr II Heatsink or Twin Frozr II fans? Like someone who went with water cooling or something.
    Thanks.

Fixed your image. Seems like bearing of the fan is bad then. Since MSi doesn't sell spare parts in most local markets it would take to rma the card which should be possible if card is still covered by warranty.

About the aftermarket cooler, you should ask the aftermarket cooler company, they should have compatibility list

  • MSI GTX Twin Frozr 780 Fan not spinning

    Hello ,
Ive had the GTX twin frozr 780 for 5 months now and every 10 to 20 cold start ups of the PC (sometimes more sometimes less) ,the left hand fan will fail to spin causing the other fan to spin at full speed. Rebooting the PC does not correct it, i have to take the side off the PC and gently tap the fan to get it spinning again, then put the side panel back on, i have put up with this for 5 months now and now had enough of it as it seems to be happening more often.
Please help as this little problem is now becoming very annoying.
When i purchased the msi 780 i got 2 off them to run in sli and the other 780 is fine and has no problems.
Ive been a good customer and have bought 4 top end msi graphics cards in the last few years and this is the only one that i've had a problem with.
When i try and rise a RMA with the place of purchase (DABS.COM) it say on there website that i have to return it back to the manufacturer , but when i try to use the msi website returns service its say that i have to return to the place of purchase ..... please could someone help as this is getting very frustrating now
    many thanks Jason

Just got off the phone with dabs.com  and there sending a courier in the morning to pick it up for R.M.A .
    Thanks for your help.
PS just out of interest have you heard of anyone other people with the same issue, as it is very intermittent and was a bit worried that they may not replace it if they can't replicate the fault.

  • 6950 Twin FROZR III Fan blade BROKE!!!!Help!

when i was playing a game, i turned the fan to 80% fan speed and this happened :( the card is 1 week old and newegg can't help me...What can i do... if i leave the fan like this it will die because its unbalanced

My advice is best RMA it as is, msi/reseller normally will not accept modified stuffs.
Also the FAN is a new special design introduced with Twin Frozr III Thermal Design called Propeller Blade fan. [images attached]
    * MSI  Propeller  Blade  technology  generates  20%  more  airflow  than  traditional
design, and the airflow covers wider area for the better heat dissipation. Twin Frozr
III thermal design provides 11°C cooler & 13.9dB quieter than reference cooler .
20% More Airflow with Exclusive Propeller Blade Technology
The MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition is equipped with the latest Twin Frozr III dual fan thermal solution. The MSI-exclusive Propeller Blade technology features air channels on the edge of the blades to expand total airflow by up to 20%! The twin 8cm PWM fans, heat pipe technology, large surface-area nickel-plated copper base and high fin density all serve to rapidly draw excess heat away from the graphics card. Under a full load, the R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition GPU runs 11˚C cooler than the reference design, and noise emission is reduced by 13.9 dB— validating the superior cooling performance and silent running advantages of the Twin Frozr III.
Since active users may use their graphics cards for a variety of applications, MSI developed the exclusive P/S Switch function for controlling the speed of the fans. The Performance Mode is used to achieve an optimal cooling performance, helping to keep the GPU cool even under high loads. For applications or settings where noiselessness is preferred, the Silent Mode can be utilized as the appropriate mode for gaming or movies, ensuring that fan noise is kept to a minimum while still receiving outstanding cooling performance.
if i RMA it they said i probably wont get a TF3 back, i want a TF3 I paid for a tf3. or atleast the fan....they wont even sell me a fan..and to rma it i need to pay 45$+shipping..think im gonna file a bbb on newegg..
msi wont even let me buy a replacement fan -_-

  • GTX 470 Twin Frozr II fan bearing failing, need to RMA but don't have receipt

Hi all, I live in the UK and one of the fans in my GTX470 TFII has started to make an annoying grinding sound which comes and goes. Seems like a dodgy bearing, apparently this is common with Twin Frozr cards. Can't seem to find a replacement fan online anywhere (model is Power Logic PLD08010S12HH I think).
Anyway so it looks like I have to RMA the card. However apparently the RMA has to be done through the reseller as I'm in the UK. This is a problem as I bought this over a year ago and don't have any receipt for it, I can't even remember where I bought it from. How would I go about RMAing this card?

over a year probably means re-teller warranty is expired so it would need to go to straight to msi.
the shop you got it from would have your details just give them name address - last 4 digits of credit card and they'll be able to find you.
    support.msi.com
or similar to start an MSI RMA
it will take time so hope you have a card to use in the mean time. I had to go back to integrated when I did my RMA. - not even able to full screen youtube.

  • GTX 560 Twin Frozr oc Fan Speed

Just got my new GTX 560 Twin Frozr OC today. I like it alot. But I do not like the fan speed while gaming. I downloaded and installed afterburner, but it only lets me set fan speed to 40%. Is their a way to lower it to like 20% like on reference cards? At idle its quiet but on load it gets loud. It seems louder then stock at load. Is their a bios update or something that will allow this?
    Thanks

  • MSI HD7950(twin frozr) 100% fan speed .. anymore solutions

    Hi guys
i purchased a  msi HD7950 twin frozr from ebay however it runs at 100% all of the time and no software can tame it ... ive also followed the guide and removed the faulty D201 diode which also never worked as the card still runs at 100% ( speedfan reports 4000rpm )
so apart from the faulty diode and using software is there anything else i can do ....   ?
i was considering strapping 2 x 120mm fans to the card powered directly from the psu and a 3rd party gpu cooler ( such as the arctic cooling range ) also came to mind allthough these tend to be expensive
i also considered a fan limiter i got with a previous 3rd party gpu cooler .... if i reduced the fan speed power from 12v to 7v would this make any difference ?
                     many thanks

Well at what temp does the gpu/ram/vrms run at? Check with Afterburner: >>How to use MSI Afterburner<<

  • GTX 560 Ti TWIN FROZR Broken Fan

I bought a 560 Ti a few months ago (haven't even overclocked it yet) and it has been working perfectly up until now.
It started going bad when one of the fans would just randomly start making a horrible grinding noise but would go back to normal after shutting the PC down and booting back up. I checked to see if anything was obstructing it and cleared a bit of dust from the fans but the problem persisted. So i restored to a previous driver to see if that was the reason, with no avail. When I watched the fans as the PC shut down, one of them slowly came to a stop as normal but the other just stopped suddenly. I spun the fans manually to find one of them had a slight resistance and wobbled like it was off balance or something.
So would i be able to return this?

This is the response I got from support about requesting a replacement fan:
    Quote
    Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing MSI products.
You may either contact your vendor for the After Sales Service, or go to the link http://us.msi.com/service/ServiceIndex/ to submit your RMA# request for the defective item(s) for warranty service.
The RMA service is just a simple request for an RMA number, no input from support.
    Stellar.
I'm not interested in losing my computer for 2-3 weeks just because a fan is making noise.  Why can't they just be like XFX and send me a full fansink replacement at no charge?  /sigh

  • GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II fan replacement

I happened to put my finger in fan blades and one of the fan blades broke. I brought it to reseller and they RMA'd  the card.(I live in Turkey by the way)
However RMA center refused to repair or replace it because it was a customer induced damage. They send it back with a note "Out of warranty"
What am I supposed to do? I think they should replace the fan, I pay the cost and then it should be in warranty again.
Is it possible to reject to repair even if I pay the cost? Is the warranty over by repairable Customer induced damage?
Edit: I contacted MSI Online Service and still no answer.

broken blade is considered as physical damage, therefor warantee is void.

  • MSI AMD HD6950 Twin Frozr II - Fan failure - Replacement?

    Hello,
on January 9th 2012, exactly 1 year and 1 day ago, I bought an MSI HD6950 TwinFrozr II.
The card has been running fine until lately, but a few days ago started overheating when
    running 3D applications.
Today I took the computer down for maintenance, and discovered that one of the two
fans of the graphics card is stuck and doesn't spin anymore.
I'm technically skilled enough to replace the fans myself, but first I have to GET two new
fans (they share the same cable), and I hope someone here can help me out or point
    me in the right direction.
    In case it's required, the card's S/N is 602-V246-020B11091xxxxxx.
    My home address is:

    Best regards,

you have to rma the card via reseller to get repair

  • NGTX480 Twin Frozr II fan problem

Hi there, I really love my GTX 480 and its super heatsink, which I bought last December. Recently, however, my computer has been crashing due to bluescreen and I was trying to figure out why, until I felt my card. Ow.
Opening up the tachometer next boot, I found that at 100% speed the fans where going 2500rpm max, and frequently dipping down to the sub-thousands. I removed the heatsink and cleaned it thoroughly with a can of compressed air, and after that treatment one fan stopped working entirely, although the other did improve markedly and is usually able to get up to 3800rpm now, with pretty frequent slowdowns though. There were no visible obstructions to either fan, and they rotate freely when swiveled manually.
Does anyone have some good repair advice? Is there a way to disassemble the fan itself without breaking it? If not, what sort of process could I start with MSI to get a new/repaired heatsink? The card is still covered under warranty.

And what would you suggest doing if neither the part number or product name match up with the ones on the lists in the RMA request form? It doesn't help much either that the 'how to find number' link is 404'd, but I'm pretty sure I have the right ones considering they match similar patterns from the lists, just no exact match.
Nevermind that, after registering the card it gave me the correct numbers online. For some reason the ones printed on the card aren't correct.

  • MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr 2 - Fan weird nose at startup - is this normal?

    Hello.
When i start the computer the fans on the graphic cards always gets a weird nose like they dont know how fast they should rotate in the first second, after that its normal.
I recognized that if i have the computer layed down instead of standing up this doesnt happens, but i asked on some swedish forums and they said this is normal for the graphic card fans to be a little noisy for the first second when you start the computer. I recorded the sound of it and will upload here.
This is how it sounds: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/4dcfc02753275_MOV00547.3gp

I have checked them but i will check again.
    Just to get this clarified:
Is it normal that i get that sound when I start the computer?
I always have the computer chassi standing up anyways, and i have double checked the motherboard standoffs and will do that again.
Just to get this cleared out:
Is it normal to hear that sound in about a second every time i cold boot the computer?
    Quote
I have checked them but i will check again.
best try with mainboard out of PC case, over a wooden table as there could a shorting issue.
    Quote

Depend, but its not normal for sure to have such noise if the PC case is in UP position, and to do not have noise if its in DOWN position.
E.g. this should NOT depend of PC case position,
which suggest weird factor like mechanical issue, or some kind of shorting issue.
From hundred of VGAs tested i've noticed such forced FAN at boot only if there was abnormal shutdown before this.
E.g. running PC, then pull out the power cable from the PSU, e.g. sudden power lost.
Then at next boot, the VGA FAN is forced at max RPM for several seconds during boot time.
The is no such FAN force for any other situation, say press reset button, or from each one power up from case power button.
But only from unexpected power lost.
So i would say its combo between the mainboard and PSU.
But basically its sort of checking either there or not and not really a issue.
