Twist - No cursor after sleeping

At times when I wake the Twist up, I do not have any curser on the screen! It doesn't matter if I use a mouse, trackpad or the touch screen. The cursor just isn't showing. If I put the machine back to sleep and then awaken it in about a minute, everthing is usally fine (not always)
It's just like the cursor is invisiable. I can get things to highlight just by moving the mouse around.
Help! Please

Hi, rogerkuehne
I would recommend makng sure all the drivers are updated and see if that helps the issue, with the BIOS and the mouse and keyboard drivers being the most relevant. Make sure all are updated, however, to ensure maximum compatibility. All drivers for your system can be found here.
Hope it helps,
Adam

  • Twist USB port after sleep

I regularly use both USB ports on my Twist. Right for a mouse, and left for iPod/memory drive. Sometimes, after my Twist comes out of sleep mode, the left USB port doesn't work. It won't recognise USB drives or my iPod. The right one is fine. The left port still works during sleep mode, as my iPod still charges. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

    Hi, j11560
I did some research and found that there is a BIOS update available for your system. The update was released earlier this month, so it is fairly recent. Downloading and installing this may help your issue.
Best of luck. Let me know how it goes,
    Adam

  • Disappearing cursor after sleeping for the day

I just bought a 20" ACD and use it with my 12" PowerBook Rev. C. When I take my PB home for the night, I put it to sleep and then unplug everything from its ports. When I wake it up to work at home, it wakes immediately, but the mouse cursor has disappeared. If I move my finger on the trackpad, the computer responds, but without a cursor, i.e. I can activate menus, switch windows, etc. but only if I am lucky enough to land on that part of the screen. Logging out doesn't bring the cursor back, but restarting does. The same thing happens in the morning when I bring my sleeping PB back to the office and plug in to the ACD, this time using the external USB mouse to wake up. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

An update: To eliminate the disappearing cursor problem, I now:
    - Plug in the display connection while the computer is sleeping,
    - Open the PB,
    - Plug in the USB hub connection,
    - Close the PB lid to turn off the built in LCD, then use the USB mouse to wake the system.
When leaving the ACD at the end of the day, I:
    - Unplug the USB hub connection,
    - Open the PB,
    - Tell the computer to sleep,
    - Unplug the display connection,
    - Shut the PB lid.
    No more disappearing cursors.

  • Missing cursor after sleep mode

How do I get it back?
It alomst always happens if I leave any application other than Finder active on the dock.
The more applications active on the Dock the more likely the cursor will not be there.
I've got a iMac OS 10.5.8 running Time Machine. I seldom close e-mail. Both Firefox and Safari are usually the only other things open. I've tried closing one or the other or both but the mouse randomly may or may not be there regardless of what's open when I leave the system.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Has been an issue from the get go with the Mac and this mouse?
    Try a different USB port.
Did drivers come with this mouse?

  • Why is my Macbook Pro slow to wake after sleep?

Why is my Macbook Pro slow to wake after sleep?

I am having the same issue. I hook it up to the charger in the evening and close the lid. When I go to use it the next time it takes a good 30 seconds or so to wake up. The screen shows the log in screen but typing doesn't work and the cursor is frozen. Sometimes it will even give the rainbow wheel for the cursor, so it seem like it is processing whatever to get going. I also notice that my battery won't be fully charged at anywhere from 95%-99% after being charged a full evening. What can I do to change whatever is happening because it is pretty crappy to charge it all night expecting to have a full battery for the next use, plus the issue of having to sit there waiting for it to boot every time.

  • IMac 2007 freezes after sleep and then can't find hard drive after reboot.

I'm having a problem where my mid 2007 iMac (2.4 GHz core duo w/ 6 Gb of ram) freezes after sleep.  It seems to happen only when an application was open at the time of sleep.  The freeze manifests as the cursor turns into the spinning wheel, but the computer can't do anything.  Command-option escape doesn't work.  Most of the time after I reboot, the iMac can't find the hard drive.  If I leave the computer off for 15 minutes then it will reboot ok.  Is my hard drive going out or do I have another problem?  I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.  I've repaired permissions, verified the hard drive and reset the NVram but I still have the problem.

Here is the console right before the time of the crash.

  • MacBook Air not wake up after sleep

    Hi,
My MacBook Air(Mid 2012) can't wake up after sleep. I recently updated operation system to Mac OS X Mavericks and now after sleep mode screen goes black and nothing happens after this. Only thing that I could do is hard reboot by pressing power button and boot again. Do anyone have the same issue and suggestions how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance
    Dmitrii

Same thing here. MBA 2011 working perfectly until I updated to Mavericks.
It often doesn't wake up fully. It does draw the password input box but there's no text cursor and no input is possible. The mouse cursor is not visible either. Waiting does nothing (tried ~15 minutes, no change). Closing the lid does not put the laptop back to sleep, it's fully frozen and the only way out is a reboot by holding the power button.

  • Help: Macbook freezes after sleep and gray screen freeze on startup

I've got a new MacBook (45 days old, minimal usage) and I'm starting to have some problems.
When my computer goes to sleep after inactivity I have a hard time waking it. The screen turns on right away but the mouse/cursor remains frozen. The computer does not respond to any keyboard commands. I usually have to reboot the machine when this happens. I noticed this problem a few weeks ago and it has since become more and more frequent.
I've also noticed that with some regularity my computer freezes on the gray screen during start up and never reaches the mac icon. This has become more and more frequent since I first noticed the initial problem and happens one in every 3 or 4 startups.
I haven't installed any new software except for the regular software upgrades. Nothing extraordinary.
Is it possible that these problems are related? Am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The grey screen on startup may be the known issue, especially if you start to get vertical lines on the screen. If you can reboot using PRAM reset, go to the displays control panel, set the resolution to something besides your current resolution, then revert to your original setting. That should fix that part.
As far as the freezing after sleep goes, I had a similar issue where the macbook would not actually go to sleep (white light stayed solid), and opening the lid would result in a dimmed screen that I had to force-shut down the computer to get out of. After sending it in for RSD, this seems to have been resolved.

I still have not been able to find a solution to this problem.
When I wake up my MBP the system is locked up. If I try to launch an app it just bounces in the dock then does nothing. If I move the cursor over the right side of the menu I get the beach ball. I cannot pull up the force quick menu, or click on anything really, nor can I log out or shutdown cleanly. There's nothing that I can do other than power off the machine. This only seems to happen if I have two accounts are logged in. It doesn't matter which account is active before sleeping.
    Any one with any thoughts?
I'll include a snippet from my syslog in case its of use. I'm out of things to try...

  • HP SimplePass Reader Does not Work after Sleep

I have only had my laptop for a week - the fingerprint reader stopped working 2 days after I bought it. I have tried everything: removing and re-installing various drivers and software, stopping and starting Credentials Manager, unchecking the box that allows the computer to turn the reader off to save power, etc.
I have gotten it to the point where it functions when the computer is logged in, but not after sleep. It works once if you restart the computer, but after waking it from sleep it does not initialize. (no light or anything) However, if you "lock" the desktop from the start menu, the reader will log it in again. (without closing the lid or putting it to sleep)
Simple Pass version 6.0 (latest downloaded from HP.com)

    Windows 8 64-bit
    Thanks

    Hello hawvi,
I see that you are having problems with the fingerprint reader not working after returning from sleep mode. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.
Can you provide the full model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.
What operating system are you using?
How long have you had the problem?

  • X1 Carbon Touch Screen stops responding after sleep

    Hi,
My X1 Screen does not come back after sleep for several minutes. I've encountered this problem the very fist day I've received it, a reboot solved the problem but after few days it happened again, this time it took 2-3 hours for it to come back after several reboots. After a week it was gone for good, Service replaced the motherboard and just received my X1 back yesterday. Today it happened again. A reboot solved the problem but symptoms are same. Comp goes to sleep, when I try wake it up, X1 works but diplay is totaly gone. I can hear the sounds, see the fingerprint sensor etc is alive but can not wake up the display..
Model is 208A and Win 8.1
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

Hey...got your back on this one! I returned a T440s because of this.....tech support had no idea...same problem for the replacement they sent to me, and again they it's a motherboard issue. Nope....trial and error...found the solution. Download and upgrade your fingerprint pro software and it's fixed. Here is the link. Please post if it worked for you too!

Hello my computer wont start up all i get is a black screen but i have a mouse cursor. after a little bit the computer will restart and do a automatic repair but nothing happens it just keeps on rebooting. i tired to do a bio update but it seems to not be working. there is no option in the bios to update or even in UEFI. i also did a harddrive test and got a Short DST Check fail (FAILURE ID: 909HVX-0007K0-WPU2XF-60WH03) but i still can get access to the harddrive using a Linux LiveUSB and all files are there. (Product Number Is : H5P60AAR#ABA)

It is possible to receive a false DST check but not common.
It doesn't mean your hard has failed but that it is in imminent danger of failing.
You can try again but this time using the Extended DST test.
But before doing anything I suggest you back up all your important data using that live Linux boot disk just in case.
Every hard disk manufacturer has their own diagnostic boot cd/usb. Google it.
You should create one and run it for your brand hard drive.
You should be able to determine which brand you have from the BIOS/UEFI hardware tab.
While your'e in there double check that your boot priority is set to hard drive first.
Your other issue seems to be the dreaded 'Automatic Repair Loop' which could be caused by your possibly failing hard dirve. I would fully diagnose the hard drive first.
Here's a link with several suggested fixes. Some of them require a Windows 8 boot disk, other do not.
