Twist S230u with Windows 8 continues to have innumerable problems
First - let me tell all the readers that Lenovo Twistpad with Windows 8 is a marriage gone seriously wrong. The usability of this laptop/notebook is so bad that it horribly affects my productivity. The touch is almost useless and many many other issues.
However, the issue at hand that need to solve urgently are two
1) The search panel slides right in when I am typing regularly and the search field grabs the focus obstructing my work. This happens only on certain keystrokes. Praticularly with keys like 'i' 'o' '9' , '0' etc. I am not able to figure out why this happens and how to stop it. I have restarted my computer several time but could not help it.
Please help me with this issue. It is so serious that cannot even type a url in the browser url bar in a simple manner, I have to hit escape multiple times or manullay bring the cursor using the mouse after every few letters I type.
2) Many a time, the screen shows the caps lock on or off icon depending on it's state. It doesn't disappear then until I restart my computer. It obstructs normal reading.
Gosh.. I am sick and tired of this computer. Please help.

I want to upgrade the 500gb HDD to an SSD on an Thinkpad Twist S230u with windows 8 but don't want to lose the data and programs installed on the drive and have to start over. I tried to clone it but no software could do it. I tried acronis and EasyToDo. I was able to clone it with a duplicator but it wasn't bootable. Am I to assume that what I need to do is the following - 1- Create the recovery media on a 32gb usb stick. 2- back up the drive using Acronis (or other) 3- Physically replace the drive 4- boot to the USB Recovery Media and bring the system back to it's original state out of the box but with the SSD Drive. 5- Use Acronis (or other) to restore back up made of the 500gb prior to removal. Before you start cloning your HDD with acronis, you have to prepare the SSD:
at first: connect your SSD with USB to your notebook and
1. Start CMD.EXE as Admin
2. type: "diskpart"
3. type: "select disk x " x = Letter of your SSD
4. type: "list partition" the drive should be unformatted
5. type: "create partition primary align=1024"
6. type: "active"
7. type: "format fs=ntfs" --> wait some minutes
8. type: "assign letter=x" --> For example "x"
9. type: "exit"
Start acronis true image 2013 (trial version)
select "Backup" without empty sectors
you can select any partitions, so also the the invisible lenovo backup paritions
The Backup can be "Restore"-d to the SSD, incl. GPT (MBR like in UEFI Systems)
After all, the SSD is ready to use. Booting on USB gives here a blue screen. I tought it was my fault. It isnt. You can build in the SSD into your SATA Port and Windows 8 will boot very well.

When I bought my twist I upgraded too:
- 8 Gig ram
- i7 processor
- Windows 8
However since the product is discontinued will I loose out on a free upgrade to Window 10?
Would love to get some feedback here?I installed the Windows 10 upgrade via Windows Update today on my ThinkPad Twist s230u. I did run into two problems... The installation failed with an error code of 80240020. This error means that the installation folder hasn't finished downloading or is corrupted. I did a quick google search and found out how to fix the problem. Here are two articles that show how to force Windows Update to redownload the upgrade and start over... Once the update was complete, I noticed that a few icons were missing from my desktop, like Bitdefender. So I downloaded the current version of Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 and installed it. After installation, I rebooted my machine and I could no longer access the Internet via wireless. Did another google search, on another machine, and found an article that explained that I should turn Stealth Mode to Off. Went into Protection -> Firewall -> Adapters and set Stealth Mode to Off. Low and behold, the Internet started working again. So far I haven't run into any other problems. I'll post again if I see any other issues. -Myles

I am using Iphone with windows. I have draged photos from my computer into Iphone in the past, but cant seem to do it now. How do I move photos from my pc to my iphone without deleting photos that are on the phone.
You cannot drag pics from computer to iphone. This has never been a feature of iphone.
You sync them as you would anything esle.
You select photos from the photos tab. Whatever is selected will be on your iphone. Anything not selected will not be. Make sure that everything you want on your iphone is selected, then sync. -
I have photoshop 6 on a dead pc laptop with windows XP. Have a pc laptop that has been upgraded from Vista 64 bit (where phootshop 6 wouldn't install) to windows 7 professional 32 bit (clean install). Photoshop still won't install. Also having reinstallation issues with pse6 on this same pc. Pse6 was installed and working on vista 64bit version of the OS, now won't install on rebuilt windows professional 7 32bit (keeps giving me serial number not valid errors). I'm not trying to pirate these programs. Just want to reinstall them.

itunes won't recognize/play/import any cd i put in the drive. I am also running paralells with windows 7 and have disabled media player. any suggestions?
I have the same problem.
On launch itunes works fine.
If I let it play through a full album of songs unatended, when I return it respondes, but will not play music. I can browse my collection, but when i click the play button, press the space bar with a track selected or double cclick a track it will not play. A restart of iTunes solves the problem temporarily. -
With windows 7 when y connect my Iphone Itunes opened . With windows 8 I have to open itunes manually ??
I too am having this problem. I've noticed that it seems to do it more often when i'm in full screen mode, if there is something downloading or i try to play something within the first minute of opening. Also, finding a lot airplay issues and playing to apple tv is a nightmare without a LAN connection. Anyone got a solution?

After Upgrading to 10.6.8 my aperture app starts but hangs trying to read the Lib. I removed the old lib and start with new. but still have the problem. 10.6.8 also made my Shark FX7 do the same thing. Any Ideas? Thanks

I followed your directions and closed all open files including "spySweeper" and "Norton". I went to "run" and entered %appdata% and
deleted "Adobe" NOTE: there was another file titled AdobeUM which I did not delete. I opened Adobe Elements and went to File->New
->Photomerge Panorama and immediately
got
Error 1: Unable to create Window
-Internal error.

I tried this several times from both the edit screen and the screen that shows the individual images and always got the same results

I have tried your suggested solution several times and it does not work......fortunately I have found another product that does work
and have moved on to it. I would like to know what is causing the problem particularly since a "lot" of other users are reporting

I received your images and was able to reproduce your problem on my
machine several times and also triggered the same error even after
resaving the images using the "Save for Web" function.
Interestingly, after deleting the program's preferences, I was able to
use Photomerge successfully on your images and could not reproduce the
error.
Try the following and see if these steps fix the issue for you as well:
1. Close all open programs.
2. Click on Start > Run.
3. In the run dialog field, type: "%appdata%" [without the quotes].
4. Delete the Adobe folder shown there (this will delete all Adobe
software preferences and settings).
5. Close the window.
6. Launch Photoshop Elements Editor and try using the Photomerge command
on your images again.
The files are being forwarded to our engineers to see if they can
isolate why these images may corrupt or damage Photoshop Elements'
preferences and settings.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require

I understand that when you attempt to use the Photomerge feature in
Photoshop Elements that you immediately get the errors:
Error 1: Unable to create Window

We have seen customer reports of this error and have the matter under
investigation.
Currently, it has been determined to be image specific and isolated to
problems processing the metadata in some images.
Our software engineers have been unable to isolate the exact issue with
these problematic images' metadata and have requested that people who
have images exhibiting this behavior be asked to upload them via the
Adobe Support Portal so that they can be examined.
Fortunately, we also do have a potential workaround that may allow you
to merge your images.
Try the following:
1. Open your images in Photoshop Elements Editor.
2. Save each one using the "Save for Web" command available in the File
menu in JPG format with the quality set to "High".
[This will remove all metadata from the images]
3. Close Photoshop Elements Editor and all open images.
4. Open the images that you just removed the metadata from using "Save
for Web" and use Photomerge on them.

I understand that when you try to use the Panorama function in Elements,
you receive a message “unable to create window.”
Does this problem happen when you are trying to merge specific images or
does it happen with all images?
What size are the images you are trying to merge? What dimensions, dots
per inch, and file type are the images?
How many images are you trying to merge? Do you have the same problem
if you try merging just two images?
Make sure when you are going to do the photomerge that any extra
programs are closed. The merging process is rather memory intensive so
the less programs running at once, the better.
Try to resize each of the photos to a smaller size, and then retry the
command.
If you receive the error when saving a panorama, try flattening the file
(use the Layer>Flatten Image command), or save the panorama in the
smaller, JPEG format.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require

I have tried all the solutions from the forum and they do not work. I even bought a new copy of the program, but no luck.

Recent System Hardware or Software change?: NoI have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.
