Twitter for BlackBerry 10 updated to v10.2.1.2

If you're a big user of Twitter for BlackBerry 10, then you'll be pleased to know that it has been updated. It's not my go to Twitter client but the updates lately have been pretty good and it is slowly becoming as good as it was on BlackBerry OS, at least for me. There is actually a changelog with this update and there are a handful of new features too.
What's new in Twitter for BlackBerry 10?
Lists! Lists are an easy way to keep track of accounts that Tweet about subjects relevant to your interests. You can now view, create, subscribe and edit Twitter lists from your BlackBerry device
Personalized trends surface and recommend accounts and conversations based on interests and locations
See more photos! Scroll through tweeted images in the photo image gallery
Learn more even more about fascinating peopl when you visit profiles. We now showcase other cool accounts to follow based on that person's profile you're viewing
New icon indicates Tweets with video!
DM status in app now syncs across all your devices and Twitter accounts
View recent Tweets while Twitter is minimized
That's a pretty nice addition of features. It certainly makes me want to use T4BB10 for a bit. If you don't see the update yet, try manually checking for updates. Alternatively, you could do a search for Twitter in BlackBerry World, that sometimes let's you see the update.

  • Error "Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones"

I have a Curve 8300.  With OS v4.5.0.81.  And I am on a BB Social network plan through my cell providor "Fido".
I mainly use it for Facebook & Twitter  and have no problems using either app.  However I was prompted for an update for my twitter recently but wasn't near a wifi spot to update.  Just decided to update today at home where I do have wifi.  However when I go to do the update, it gives me the following error:
"Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones"
I have scoured for answers but haven't had much luck.  I tried checking for OS updates.  I apparently have the most current one that my phone will support.  I uninstalled twitter and then tried to reinstall it via the twitter Icon on my phone.  Got the same error.  Tried reinstalling it through app world, it installed just fine.  However it installed the version that I had previously had.  So I went to twitter's settings and checked for updates.  It prompted for one as I expected it would.  And when I tried to get the update.  It gave me that error again.  I can use twitter as it is, but I don't see why my phone shouldn't be able to get all the updates for various apps.  Is it a software compatability issue?  Is it a hardware compatability issue?  Is there anything I can do to get the update or do I just have a phone that won't take some app updates?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
The 8300 is not listed in the device upgrade table for Blackberry device OS v5.0. The newer versions of apps like Twitter and Facebook require device OS v5.0 to run correctly. Might be time to consider a new device!

  • RIM Twitter for BlackBerry Internal Twitter server problem error message

I have had this issue previously, it went away and now it's back; and can I remember how I fixed it... no.
    I have a Bold 9700 running 5.0.0.680 and Twitter for Blackberry 1.0.1.7
Since updating to 5.0.0.680 I have been unable to login to Twitter via RIM's Twitter application. I receive the error message "Internal Twitter server problem."
    I have tried the following to resolve;
Multiple battery pulls - no change
Flash back to 5.0.0.586 - no change
Flash back to 5.0.0.442 - no change
After flashing I have performed a full security wipe of the device to be sure its clean.
I am able to use UberTwitter and other social networking applications without any issues.
My BlackBerry is controlled via my companies BES. The Server version is 5.0.1 and I can confirm that the Value-added application policy is installed and has 'Disable organizer data access for social networking applications' set to No and 'Disable RIM Value-Added Applications' set to No for the policy applied to my device.
I am also one of the Administrators of this server.
What I would like to know is how to solve this issue. A search of the internet revels a number of similar issues, but these where apparently down to an issue with Twitter not the software. As I am able to access Twitter with no issues via other clients and see no issues reported on the status feed from Twitter I have run out of ideas.
I have also fired up a number of the BB simulators on a development machine and have been able to access Twitter via a simulated BlackBerry without an issues; making me think this is either a BES, device, or carrier issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hey Mark,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Are you still having trouble connecting to Twitter for BlackBerry?
Since you're on a BES just to do process of elimination, I would suggest performing a reset to factory so that will remove the IT policy.  Follow the instructions in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB18998
Then test out logging into Twitter, if successful then we know it is it policy related.  If you still receive the same error, let me know.

  • Latest version of Twitter for Blackberry doesn't refresh on startup

Older versions of Twitter for blackberry automatically refreshed the timeline on startup of the application. However, the newest version doesn't seem to do that anymore. Is there any way to enable this? If not, is there any way to revert back to an older version of the software?

I'm not sure what you mean... my Twitter for BlackBerry app automatically refreshes on startup.  Have you tried simply uninstalling and reinstalling the app and ensuring that all of your settings are set up the way you like them?

  • PGP Support for BlackBerry Update

    Hi,
Are there any plans, dates or details for an update to the PGP Support for Blackberry package?
Also, what is the process for logging & tracking feature requests relating to this package?
The particular feature we desperately want to see is:
To give a user the ability to send an encrypted e-mail with attachments from a BlackBerry device that is operating the PGP Support for BlackBerry package.
Currently the package can receive (decrypt) emails with attachments and only send (encrypt) emails without attachments. There is no workaround for this and it is a mayor limitation of the PGP Support for BlackBerry package. It is holding back the package from being rolled out to a larger market audience, and limiting existing users tremendously.
This feature request has now been logged with Symantec:
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/ideas/pgp-support-blackberry-encrypted-e-mail-attachments
    and emailed to [email protected]
Any advice, comments or thoughts are welcomed.
    Thanks,

I too would love to see this update! I feel most of RIM's resources are probably being put into getting BB 10 and infrastructure ready for launch?
My workaround for this issue is to install the SMIME support package and have users send encrypted attachments via SMIME. PGP support package has been updated to work with the SMIME package (to a degree). It automatically looks up certificates attached to the PGP users keys and encrypts and decrypts based on those public/private certificates.
Unfortunely the SMIME package isnt as user friendly, users contantly have to hit the blackberry button and then more or more all to load the entire message for longer messages and messages with attachments.
So far I can't seem to get AES Encryption working with the SMIME support package, only have managed to get 3DES and a few other inferior encryption algoriths to work with the SMIME package.

  • Twitter for blackberry not downloading

    Twitter won't download on blackberry?
I have a blackberry curve 9320, and twitter used to work normally on it, only freezing etc occasionally. A few days ago, every time I clicked on the mentions button, nothing happened, but if I clicked on 'home' or my profile, it went to it. I tried rebooting it with no luck, and my friend told me to un install then re install it. then my twitter just didn't install at all. I've tried going on blackberry.com/twitter and clicking the button which allows people with no blackberry app world to download it, and it still doesn't work, all I get is a message on my home screen saying 'java error.' I don't want to go on twitter via the internet, so how do i get it? no matter how many times i download it from Blackberry App World, it never works.

    You cannot downgrade.
You can reset your phone to factory settings if you wish to see if it corrects your issue. Resetting to factory settings will wipe out all your data so you should save it first. To save all your stuff download and install BlackBerry Link on your computer from the link below. Resetting will not back-up the OS on your phone. Once you have downloaded and installed BlackBerry Link connect your phone to your computer and save your stuff. Once saved disconnect your phone from the computer.
To reset your phone: tap the Settings App, scroll down and tap Security and Privacy, tap Security Wipe, tap the blank box and enter blackberry.
Once Wiped reconnect your phone to your computer and install your stuff.

  • StockDaddy Turbo for BlackBerry 10 updated to v1.1.0

We first told you about StockDaddy Turbo a short while ago and for those of you that need to keep an eye on your stocks and shares it's the perfect application to do so - right from your BlackBerry 10 device.
The developer dropped me an email to advise that the app had received its first update and with it brings notifications right into the BlackBerry Hub. If you've already downloaded the app, this new feature will possibly be of huge value to you. Clearly, StockDaddy won't be for everybody but if you have investments this one could be a deal breaker.
As you'll see from the change log below there are several extra good bits and there is even more to come in the near future.
    New in v1.1.0.0:
Stock Alert Notification: Define a threshold on the stock and the notifications comes right to your Hub
Search for and Add North American ETFs to the Watchlist
Password Protect: Stop people from snooping in your Portfolios by enabling Password Protect
Add to Watch/Port buttons are now enabled when searching for a stock using the search button

  • An Update for BlackBerry Maps is Seriously Overdue

I've been with BlackBerry 10 since day one with the Z10 and I've noticed that the BlackBerry Maps app never really gets any love. This is a bare bones app that has still not gotten the update it needs and I believe many of us feels it is time.
It seriously needs public transit directions and schedule updates and incorporating nearby POI when asked (much in line with what the BlackBerry Assistant does). I'm personally not a person who drives and prefers transit and I find this really frustrating not to have such a great feature built into this app.
The option to view in satellite and and a hybrid of the satellite and standard map view is also important.
Performance updates is needed as it is taking longer than usual for the app to load due to 10.3.1.
Please update the app soon if you want to attract more users.

I've used BeMaps Pro, Google Maps and Blackberry Maps in tandem at one point, but I just don't get why Blackberry doesn't do what Apple did for iOS, Nokia with Windows Phone and Google for Android. It's a native app and a no-brainer that should come standard on any smartphone eco-system!
It shouldn't be hard to provide an update these days, I mean, Blackberry should be able to figure it out why it hasn't been able to attract more new users and actually RETAIN them.
I get the fact that the bottom line for Blackberry is corporate base and security, but to really get them locked in, the native experience is really what matters the most. A user shouldn't need to rely on several apps just to do one thing. I'd say re-invest in TAT and Blackberry World, make it attractive and maybe even make it into a cash cow too.
I find Blackberry Maps more reliable than Google Maps, but am hesitant to say 100% simply because Blackberry Maps feels like Google Maps lite and so does other apps. I don't want to sound like a whiny fan, but please, the phone is supposed to make your life easier, not harder.
