Two 3rd gen - one blocks playback due HDCP error

My 3rd gen ATV running ver 6.2 software won't play through a HDMI-VGA adapter to my old Samsung rear-projection DLP TV but my son's 3rd gen ATV running ver 6.1 software does. Tried with the same adapter, VGA cable and power supply. I have no idea if the adapter fakes HDCP; I am pretty sure the old TV does not as it probably predates the spec and I doubt it is supported across VGA anyway.
1. Is there anything I can do to get my ATV to play through this combo?
2. Will the software update render my son's ATV incompatible with this combo?

That would indicate that someone has reported your posts for editing or deletion as the official moderators see fit, they don't always get it right.
What I find quite frustrating here, is that Apple actually sell 3rd party HDMI to VGA converters for AppleTV!

It handled purchased content fine, but I subsequently bought a new HDMI equipped projector so don't know if a recent firmware update may have killed that ability - this is unfortunately always a possibility, and AppleTV firmware updates have not infrequnetly made certain TVs which had issues work, and conversely occasionally made other that used to work incompatible.
Another thought is that there are in fact 2 AppleTV 3 versions - in essence they are the same but there was a minor hardware revision in Jan 2013, and it is possible the 2 behave slightly differently with HDMI.

The one with the smaller connector is a 4th generation ipad. There were no 3rd gen iPads with the lightning connector port.
As far as returning... If you payed 3rd gen prices for 4th gen iPad I'd say keep it. If you payed 4th gen prices for both, return the 3rd gen one and ask or a 4th gen. As that's what they should have given you.

I have quite literally tried everything. My ipod touch just will not update.
My internet connection is more than fine, my ipod functions as it should, and I can connect to the itunes store.
It will not, however, connect to the update server.
I have spent around 2 hours tonight troubleshooting and i still have nothing.

Two status for one idoc while IDOC_STATUS_WRITE_TO_DATABASE, giving error

I am using a Z function module to process an incoming idoc (custom process code).
While using the test tool WE19, I am trying to process an idoc. When I am using Inbound Function Module tab, the idoc is processing normally. But when I am using Standard Inbound, it is giving me message Idoc saved but cannot or should be processed.
Idoc was in status 64.
I tried debugging and found that idoc (while processing from Standard Inbound) in FM IDOC_STATUS_WRITE_TO_DATABASE, it is giving an error message because two status are present for the same Idoc.
While processing from Inbound function module, there is only one status in FM IDOC_STATUS_WRITE_TO_DATABASE and idoc is processing successfully.
Please advice, if anyone know why it is happening and how it is happening. I have not searched for SAP notes.

Hi,
Check in your partner profile inbound parameters what options is selected. Trigger Immediately or Trigger by background program. Select Trigger immediately and try processing the idoc once again.

No Audio Playback due to Error Message "Disk is too slow. (Prepare) (-10001)"

Out of the blue, no audio playback. Was working just fine earlier today.
I repeatedly get the error message:
Disk is too slow. (Prepare)
(-10001)
NOTE: I have more than enough disc space. That is NOT the issue.
I also just got a second error message:
Part of the Project was not played
This project has too many real instrument tracks to be played in real-time. To optimize performance, see the 'Optimizing GarageBand performance' page in GarageBand Help.
NOTE: Odd as I have only 2 tracks in the GarageBand file.
Any others experience this? Suggestions?

Have a look into the Preferences folder (YourUserFolder/Libraries/Preferences/) and trash all Logic preferences.
You'll have to setup the program again.

OS X Lion suddenly has two hard discs, one of which "has SMART errors -and cannot be repaired." the original hard disc is fine. What to do about failing HD?

I have an iMac Lion 10.7.5. It has been freezing and iphoto doesn't work, cannot reload iphoto, it does it then freezes the computer. So, I tried to download Maverick, and couldn't as it said " disk has SMART erros and has a hardward problem that can't be repaired." After going into disc utitlity, I find that there is the original hard disk and now a new one that is above it, written in red letters. The original disk is in good shape, all is well with it. The other hard disk is unrepairable and says it is failing and needs to be replaced. I cannot erase it either. What to do? I don't need a new hard drive as the original one is there and says all is well. Help!

You have a failing HD that needs to be replaced. Before you do anything backup the computer, this is critical!!!!!!!!! Then take the machine into your local Apple Store or AASP to have the HD replaced. Ask that the store install Lion for you and then you can use your backup to restore all of your data, apps, settings, etc..

3rd Gen Touch Wheel

Question I have two 3rd gen touch wheel Ipods that I can not get to be seen in windows or itunes. I have bought new battery for both thinking this was my problem. When I turn the ipod on it shows the apple icon then shows a plug. I need to get a firmware plug in order to charge the units. My question is if it is showing the apple icon my understanding would be that there still is power so why is this not being seen? It is not in device manager at all. Both ipods where working before being plugged into my computer (given to me by a friend) however first time being plugged into my computer usb found ipod a window opened an said it had to be re-formated, I did this an now nothing.
Any ideas???????

If it's a 3rd gen iPod (with the for separate touch buttons in a line between the display and touch wheel), then you need to connect using FireWire, not USB. This model may be able to sync over USB when fully charged, but it may not work reliably because it will only charge while syncing over FireWire.
Some laptops have the smaller 4-pin FireWire ports, but those do not provide power either. You need a 6-pin FireWire port.
One solution is to add FireWire ports to your computer. Make sure the ports on the adapter (PCI card, Cardbus slot card, whatever you have...) are 6-pin +FireWire 400+ ports.
The better solution, if you have the white square FireWire power adapter that came with this model iPod, is to get this special docking cable that Apple still sells.

You connect the FireWire end to the power adapter, to supply power. You connect the USB end to your computer for data syncing. You connect the dock connector to your iPod.

Cellular reconnectivity issues with 3rd Gen iPad 3G/4G/LTE

I've read a few other threads regarding a reconnection issue with the new (3rd Gen) iPad. I'm creating a discussion so people can put there thoughts here regarding the issues they are having with reconnection of cellular data connections.
I have AT&T 64B iPad Gen 3 with 4G/LTE. Black. Works just fine on wifi and my LTE screams at home and work. Faster than my cable at home. I have noticed something behavior regarding data connection when it's lost (like in a tunnel). I ride DC Metro to work and go through a few tunnels. Of course, my data connection drops in the tunnels. When I come back out the indicator on the iPad indicates 5 bars signal and LTE again. Problem is the data connection isn't there, no matter what app I try. I even get a popup window say my cellular data plan has not been activated (huh?). This isn't true since I am on, and have been using a plan. It does this whether it's 4G or LTE reconnection. Not sure about 3G because I haven't seen 3G icon popup on this iPad yet.
I'm thinking this may be an authentication issue? Else, why would it popup that warning? Anyway, all I do is is go into settings turn cellular data off and back on again and everything is fine.
I'm guessing that there could be a software fix for this in the future as there are quite a bunch of people having this problem with reconnection to cellular.
Please post your issues here in this discussion if you have this problem. Maybe we can figure something out.

I have the same iPad (3rd gen, 4G ATT, 64GB, Black). When it arrived last Friday, everything seemed to work fine, except the cellular data connection. It would constantly drop, and I had to toggle cellular data off and back on to get it back. Also, I was getting really slow speeds (on cellular data only - wifi works fine). I tried some simple fixes (restarting, resetting the network settings, restoring), but I kept having the problem. I finally made an appointment at the Genius Bar, and they immediately gave me a new iPad, saying "it could be a bad antenna." Here is the bad news. Even with the replacement, the connection seems to drop less often, but it still drops. The part that concerns me most is that the data speeds on my iPad are considerably slower than on my iPhone 4S when I test them in the exact same spot (I use the Speed Test app). So on my iphone, I get speeds around 3 Mbps, and on the iPad, I get speeds of less than 1Mbps. I can't see any logical reason that the 3rd gen iPad would not get at least as good or better data speeds as an iPhone 4S. The fact that I have now had two 3rd gen iPads with cellular data problems concerns me. However, it is very hard to tell if this is a software, hardware, or network issue. The fact that my iPhone is running the same update of iOS (5.1), and has no problems would seem to eliminate the software and network as causes, but I can't really be sure. I am going to watch the posts in the support communities for another day or two and then head back to the Genius Bar. Overall I love the new iPad, but this has been a real downer.

Can't download all songs in purchased to 3rd gen nano

I'm trying to download newly purchased songs to a 3rd gen nano. I receive an error msg saying the song can't be downloaded as it's not authorized to be downloaded to this computer. I've never encountered this problem before. I restored the nano to it's orig settings...and now...I can't reload many of the songs I had on the nano.

Have you authorized the computer yet to play purchases from the iTunes store? If not, head to the Store drop down menu and choose "Authorize computer."
If it is, try de-authorizing your computer, logging out, logging back in, and re-authorizing.

This configuration is weird little bit. There is MatchExpression /app1 and MatchExpression /app2 and at the same time two <Location /weblogic> sections. Are you sure you understand what that configuration stands for?

3rd Gen Nano click wheel won't work in the car. My OLD one worked, but this one doesn't.

I use a PXDP iPod2Car iPod interface in my 02 Firebird. My original, trusty 3rd gen. nano used to work perfectly. It charged, and the steering wheel as well as main stereo controls operated it. Something happened to it recently (my guess is the logic board went bad) and it does not come on at all, plugged in or not. I actually have 2 more just like it that I was going to give away, but decided to keep.
Neither one of these will let me use the click wheel to scroll while plugged into the car - the old one did.
I can only change songs with the car's controls.
The only difference between these two and the old one, is that they have the HP logo on the back. Are they later models, with perhaps different hardware?
Is there anything I can do about it?
Is there any hope for the old one?
I hate not being able to scroll at all!

I tried turning the iPod off and on again, but that made all my apps behave like that. Settings and those things work fine still. Should this suddenly happen? I dont want to lose all 204 apps.

- First try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.

- Restore from backup

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried almost everything and I am nowhere near an Apple shop as I am working in Africa.
