Two 9IAS pointing to the same orgin database !!

Hello Guys,
I need to setup such way that
two 9IAS machines will be pointing to
the same origin machine (i.e third m/c) !!!
By doubt is what are products we need to install in the second machine !!!
Let us say in the first machine, I install the following products
Oracle9ias database cache
oracle 9ias forms and reports services
oracle http server in non-ssl mode
oracle 9ias web cache
oracle 9ias portal
oracle 9ias discoverer
oracle management server
Let me guess, what should be install in second machine
Oracle9ias database cache - yes
oracle 9ias forms and reports services - yes
oracle http server in non-ssl mode - yes
oracle 9ias web cache - yes
oracle 9ias portal - no
oracle 9ias discoverer - yes
oracle management server - yes
Please let me know whether my jugement is right or not !!!
I am only scared whether the original products(i.e first machine) will
get updated !!!
Thanks for your time !!!

kishore, I don't see any problem installing iAS on two different machines, if that's what you mean. Whatever you install on the 'second' machine will not affect the first. Since they have the different oraInventory location.

  • Can two datasources point to the same database?

    Can two unique datasource names point to the same MS Access Database?

    I got handed a directory of files to set up two coldfusion sites on a new server. What I have is two websites which both have a gallery page with identical contents, see Jembetat.com and SaharaAfricanGallery.com. In the the files I got in the Jembetat directory I have a single database "jembetat.mdb", in SahraAfricanGallery directory I have two databases "jembet.mdb" and "sahara.mdb" The Jembetat site refers to a dsn titled "Jembetat_accesscf_jembetat" pointing to the "jembetat.mdb"  and the sahara site to a dsn titled "sahara20049216_accesscf_jembetat". Interestingly enough I believe all three databases are identical. Currently I am pointing the jembetat dsn to the jembetat database in the sahara directory and the sahara dsn to the sahara database in the sahara directory. In my mind however if the client makes a change on one website then he would have to manually change it on the other unless I point poth dsn to the same directory.

  • Two folders pointing to the same document

    Hi,
    can two KM folders point to the same document?
    for e.g.
    say I have two users 1) a business person 2) a technical person.
    I have two folder structures 1) a technical structure 2) a business structure with each having access to the all the folders structures.
    say tech folder structure has a folder called ep and business folder structure has a folder called client1. The technical person uploads a document of client1 project that is related to ep in the ep folder that is part of the technical strucure.
    How do I make it possible to access the document in both the folders(ep and client1)? I don't want redundant documents as it can cause the changes not to get reflected.

    Hi,
      You can do that using taxonomies. You upload the document, assign metadata and then by mean TREX index is classified.
      You create KM Navigation Iviews to point these taxonomies folders.
      You can read about taxonomies:  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/6c/5145b1d1de11d6b2cc00508b6b8b11/frameset.htm

  • Two different WCS instances, pointing to the same database

    Hi,
    for some unknown reason that came from the architecture fellows, I need to install 02 instances of WCS pointing to the same database server. I mean, both instances would need to "share" the database. They don't want a cluster schema because they need to have the option to deploy the app in one instance and, if wverything is ok, deploy to the remaining instance.
    Do you know if such architecture is possible? I did the installation of one instance(instance A), but when trying to install the instance B referring to A's database, I get a ton of errors.
    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Hi,
    This is not the way Sites has been designed. Each instance should have their own schema and repository unless the two instances work as a Sites cluster.
    So what you're trying to achieve is not possible using your approach. What I could suggest is to install two separate instances on its own, create the necessary data model, asset configurations, templates, etc. in one instance and replicate it to the other instance by publishing it to the other instance using real-time publish. If you use LDAP or any other supported directory server you would be able to use a singe directory for both sites instances.

  • SLD: Pointing two business systems to the same client...

    Hi Guys,
       Is there anyway to make two business systems point to the same client(on the same r/3 technical system)? how about a work around?
    Thanks,
    Harsh

    Harsh,
    >><i>Finally all collapse to one client in production.</i>
    Even though you will have multiple Business Systems in every envrionment, the final transport will happen from only one environment.
    DEV --> QA --> PROD. In this case, objects are moved from dev to qa and then from QA to prod and so, all you will need is the trasnport target created in the QA business systems pointing to the Prod busines system and do the transport.
    ><i>While transporting to a new SLD(quality to prod) can I choose one transport target for multiple source business systems?</i>
    Take a look at this document for multiple SLD transports. Should answer all doubts,

  • Adjusting two handles of an anchor point at the same time?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to adjust two handles of an anchor point at the same time?
    I want to edit the top shape of this egg shape so that it would be symmetrical on both sides when I do adjust it.
    What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
    Thanks!

    When I move the right handle, I need the left handle to move the opposite way and it doesn't. I don't get what you mean by saying that it "should behave just like you want them already."

  • Two QM servers point to the same UCCX Cluster

    All,
    We have a QM8.0 in production pointing to a UCCX 8.5/CUCM8.5. It does Audio recording only using network recording method and it has a SQL 2008 server installed locally.
    We are installing a second QM8.5 system after ordering extra AQM seat license. We use the second QM system for screen and audio recording (using desktop record). Instead of using locally installed SQL, we plan to use SQL 2008 Cluster at the backend SQL farm.
    Both QM systems point to the same UCCX/CUCM Cluster. The initial configuration of the second QM system was successful. SQMDB was created in SQL Cluster (the instance created for QM). QM could see all licenses (QM and AQM) loaded in UCCX system. However, using QM Administrator utility to configure users/teams, I cannot see any UCCX agents and teams. When do a synchronise, got error:
    QMAD2003: SyncServerError: SyncFailure: SyncFailed: com.calabrio.sync.engine.dataSyncException: Exception while getting DB connection (-1)
    Has anyone experience this type of problem? Is there a limit that one UCCX cluster could only have one QM system associated?
    Thanks,
    Wenqian

    This problem has been fixed. In QM log (sync.dbg), it clearly stated that the password for uccxworkforce was wrong. After changed it to the right password, all works well.
    I thought I could see the seat license from UCCX server indicating that I entered correct password in my initial configuration. It is not the case.

  • Two feed IDs pointing to the same URL by accident.

    I think I have quite a conundrum here. I manage 2 podcasts, and one of them I had to change hosts. I used the <itunes: new-feed-url> tag which worked great. But unfortunately, I also added it to the second feed XML by accident, and now both feeds point to the same URL. So now if I change one, it will change both again. I contacted normal apple support, but they said its beyond them. I also went to our podcast page on the itunes store and "reported a concerne", but to no avail.
    Does anyone have an idea how to contact itunes techs and have them manually change the url of the mistaken feed?
    Thanks.

    Go to:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/podcast/
    and use the 'Contact us' link at the bottom of the page. It does indeed sound as if you have got yourself into a Catch-22 that only they can get you out of.

  • Two string references pointing to the same object

    Look at the following code snippet         String   s1 = "hello";
            String   s2 = "world";
            String   s3 = "welcome";
            String   s4 = "here";
            String   s5 = "hello";
      They say that references s1 and s5 point to the same object "hello".
    At run time after creating objects from s1 to s4 how the Java run time knows that there is already an object "hello" and assigns a differernt reference.

    When the jvm load the class file, all suchconstants
    found in the class are loaded in a global constant
    pool. when you assign the constant to a variable,it
    uses the same one from the constant pool.Suppose I intialize a string by getiing input
    nput from the console which already exists, in that
    case a new object will be created or the existing one
    be used.A new object will always be created in that case, but you can get a reference to the string in the pool by calling intern. See the javadoc for intern in the String class.

  • Share iTunes purchases between two user accounts on the same Mac?

    I have a Macbook Pro, for my bride and I, and a Macbook, for our kids. Both Macs are authorized on my iTunes account.
    So, how can I share an iTunes Store purchased song on my account with my wife's? I understand how to turn on sharing and she can see my songs in iTunes on her account, but she cannot synch them to her iPod.
    Now, I'm allowed to authorize an iTunes account on up to five Macs. I have two. But I have four accounts. Either way, I won't be exceeding five copies, but can't find a way to get a song I bought in my iTunes to my wife's iPod.
    We use the same iTunes account but don't want to have to buy things twice to get them on her iPod. Just seems weird that I could put it on five machines but not two user accounts on the same one.

    On my Mac Pro I moved the entire library to "Macintosh HD/Shared/iTunes". Changed the Folder location in iTunes Preferences->Advanced->General to point to that location. Then in each user change the Music/iTunes folder to be an alias or link pointing to the Shared/iTunes folder. You will likely need to change the permissions on that folder to give everyone the ability to read and write. Do that via "Get Info" on the iTunes folder using Finder. I'd suggest backing everything up before you do this.

  • String objects with the same string pointing to the same place but?

    Hi,
    Here is a simple sample
    String str1 = "a";
    String str2 = "a";I understand that in Java str1 and str2 pointing to the same place in memory and Java compiler wouldn't save the string "a" in two different places in memory. Am I right?
    If so, if the value of str1 changes to something else as following:
    String str1 = "a";
    String str2 = "a";
    str1 = "b";why str2 which has been pointing to the same place as str1 before is still containing ?a? and not ?b????
    Thanks!

  • Two processes running at the same time in Lookout

    I have installed Lookout 5.0 with 200 I/O Points onto our server computer. The application of motion control is next to the 200 I/O points through OPC PMAC server/client. Now I would like to have a second process in the same server for trouble shooting and testing without stopping the motion control process. However, this second testing process could have also many I/O points through Serial and USB ports. I assume that the total amount of I/O points of both processes will be greater than 200.I prefer to have independent processes for control and testing because access levels. Can I have these two processes running at the same time when needed?

    Hi,
    From your description you are using a third party OPC server for the motion application. You could have a second Lookout process communicating with the same OPC server with no problems, as long as you do not exceed the number of I/O points your license supports.
    Also, the process you are using for testing obviously could not overwrite datamembers (or registers if you will) that would interfere in the overall application, in other words you can test your application as long as you keep the coherency of the test.
    So the answer would be, yes it is possible, however you are still limited to the number of I/O's your license supports... You may even consider upgrade the number of I/O's you have in your license.

  • How do I set up two email address on the same account?

    Using Mail in Mac OS X 10.6.2 and moving to Mac for the first time, I have been unable to set up two email addresses on the same account. Entering them, separated by commas, as advised in the Help does not seem to work. I have tried making them both the same password and have tried separating the passwords with a comma but no luck. Unable to set up another account for the second address because it correctly tells me that the account already exists.
    Is there a way?
    Thanks for any help.
    AllanGlen

    After a comprehensive trial and error session, using a new Guest Account each time to be sure of no contamination from the previous trial, I have finally cracked it!
    The problem was logging on to the outgoing server.
    Setting up the first account was fairly straightforward but if I allow Mail to do it automatically I am unable to send because Mail has defaulted to 'Authentication Required' when my server does not require it. Setting the account manually without authentication enables send and receive to work OK.
    If i try to set up the second account automatically, Mail crashes.
    If I set it up manually and choose 'No Authentication', Mail crashes.
    If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the full email address as the User Name together with password, Mail crashes.
    If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address together with password, Mail crashes.
    However, if I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address as User Name and no password, Mail accepts it and sets up the account.
    At this point the account receives mail but cannot send it.
    If I go into the Mail preferences and try to edit the outgoing server details, Mail will not accept no Authentication.
    I eventually found that if I uncheck the 'Always Use This Server' box, all account then use the server on the first account, which is correctly set up.
    Now I have my four email accounts all able send and receive.
    One little concern remains. In Outlook Express I could look at the properties of a received email and see what address it had come from, together with many other details. I haven't found out yet whether this can be done in Mail. I just wonder whether if I reply to some email, it will appear to have come from a different address from the one it was sent to.
    Thanks again for all the inputs.

  • Two Cube dimensions with the same name.

    Hi
    If I have a cube dimension that has the same name as another cube dimension, will this be an issue when quering the cube through 1) Excel 2) SSRS or Cognos Reports?
    For instance: The Database dimension DimOrganization exists in cube A as well as
    DimOrganization_Dep. Both dimension has the same attribute names and the same hierarchy names.
    Their database names are different. (object_ID and Object_name differs)
    In the cube I change the name of DimOrganization_Dep to DimOrganization.
    This seem to work when I query the cube in Excel, the mdx looks like this;
    SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[AntalNotNull] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY { ([Dim Organization].[Yes- No].[ Yes- No].ALLMEMBERS * [Dim Organization].[Yes- No].[Yes- No].ALLMEMBERS ) } DIMENSION PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME
    ON ROWS FROM [TEST] CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE, FORMAT_STRING, FONT_NAME, FONT_SIZE, FONT_FLAGS
    Anyone knows if this kind of setup will result in problems when quering from SSRS reports or Cognos?
    And/or if even though I get it right in the cube (quering from Excel) it might as well give me the wrong result the next time?
    Cheers
    /Martin

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.
    I have tried and yes I can change then cube dimension namn to that of another cube dimension.
    For instance if i have Cube Dimension "DimA" and "DimB" to begin with , then  I change the name of the cube dimension "DimB" to "DimA". So now I have two Cube dimensions with the same name.
    It works to deploy and process and Excel somehow understands which one is which.
    Both is present in the same cube as you can see from the MDX above.
    The tricky part is how does the mdx return the correct result when the mdx looks like this (and it dpoes return the correct result).?
    Cheers
    /Martin
