  • Two Accounts sharing iPhoto library - iPod access rights error solution

I followed the advice given in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198 to share a single iPhoto library on an external drive between two users. It worked well.
...until both my wife and I tried to connect iPods while in our individual logins and attempted to sync photos from an album in iPhoto.
Mine worked, but my wife's responded with, "The iPod "name" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
    Having seen this thread;
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4872555&#4872555
I realized that the iPod iPhoto cache, made visible by right-clicking the iPhoto Library and Showing Package Contents, was specific to my iTunes library and not my wife's. I could sync photos, but my wife could not.
I copied the iPhoto cache to a folder with my name on it, deleted the iPod iPhoto cache, and started iTunes under my wife's login. After setting the album she wanted to import, her photos synced without error.
Then I copied the iPod iPhoto cache to a folder with my wife's name.
I leave set to work for her and then I swap out her iPod iPhoto Cache and copy in my when I want to add new photos. In the meantime I deselect iPhoto sync in my iTunes until such time as I want to alter the image collection on my iPod.
I tried to make an animator script, but didn't have much success with the cache being package content.

I copied the iPhoto cache to a folder with my name on it, deleted the iPod iPhoto cache, and started iTunes under my wife's login. After setting the album she wanted to import, her photos synced without error.
    should have said..

  • Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

  • Two accounts one computer

I have two iTunes accounts.  Apple stated they will not merge the two accounts into one.  My wife has a third account, which also can not be merged.  So, now I have this really annoying thing where whenever I switch my accounts, I can not access my content for 90 days.  I can not fathom families that have one computer and tried to set up accounts for each of the family members.  What is the answer to this?  I have already sent a nastygram to Apple, but this appears to be the worst customer service idea on the face of the earth.  You can't merge accounts, nor can you have multiple accounts on the same computer.  Does apple think that families can afford a computer for each one of their children?  I don't know the answer to this, but if someone else knows, please inform me.  I can not access the material I rightfully bought and Apple is now withholding due to some 90 day restriction that was not in place when I bought the material.

All accounts remain as they are now when installing on top of a previous OS, only the OS components and basic Apple apps update.  None of this has anything to do with iCloud, which is a separate issue.

  • How can I restore my contacts, when I have two phpnes on one account? In icloud are the contacts of the first phone, and in my computer is the back up of my second phone

How can I restore my comtacts from pc back up when I do have two phones with one account?the i cloud has contacts from one of the phones, and the pc back up from the other?

    Hi Silky-Milky!
If I understand your question correctly, you are attempting to merge your contacts from your previous phone's backup into your iCloud account, then go back to using your new phone as normal, with the new merged database of contacts. I have an article that can tell you how to do exactly that:
Recovering iCloud or MobileMe data from iTunes backups for an iOS device

  • I'm trying to redownload my music onto a new computer and its not working..I think I may have two accounts open because the one im signed into is empty and I cant remember my log in info..and when I reset it it doesnt help.

I got a new lap top and I was trying to re download my music to the new one and it's not working. I think I may have to accounts open because its saying mine hasnt been active in a while and I know thats not true...and there is no music in the library it's all empty...is it possible to have two accounts open? if so how do I cancel one. and keep the other....

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • Two accounts on one computer? (Using it as an iTunes server)??

I want to set up a music server at home that is on all the time so that the other two computers can access the music, so is it possible to have two different accounts on the same server so that the music is available all the time, or should I make the server the main iTunes account and allow access to the other two machines?
Right now we have two accounts, one on each machine and both have to be on to access the music from each others machines.

I have 2 accounts on my Windows XP Operating System. Each account has its own seperate ipod. When one user downloads music, the other user cannot see the downloaded music in their itunes, even with the shared library checked. Any suggestions?

  • Sharing Photo Libraries on one computer with two accounts

I have two accounts on my Mac Mini, OS 10.7.5 and have enabled photo sharing in both. However the second account, my wife's doesn't show the photo libraries I'm trying to share. Any thoughts please

Photo sharing works only between different computers, not for accounts on the same machine.
On the same computer you can give your wife direct access to your libraries, like described here:
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
Or if your Mac MIni can be upgraded to a system that supports iCloud, you can share selected albums as Shared PhotoStreams: See iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams

  • Two accounts one one iPod Touch and Computer

Here is the setup that i want and want to know if it is possiable and if so how. So my parents have the iTunes account password and the reason that they will not tell me is becuase there is a credit card tied to it and don't want to to spend more than i need (even though we only use gift cards), so i see where they are coming from, and i agree with them. So my idea is to have two accounts. The main account, which holds all of the media that we bought, like music movies and apps, and then make another iTunes account for the iPod Touch that i will know the password to and can get free apps and put my own gift cards on so i will have my own 'gift card money' and becuase i won't enter a credit card on this account i cannot overspend more than my gift card has. The only catch is when i sync it back to my iMac which has all the iPod's/iPad is connected to and the family accounted synced to it wilcan i authrize the computer to be with 'my' account so that it will show u[p as able to by synced and that teh free and paid apps that i buy with mu money wil be able to be authorized to be played or used with the family account so everyone can use the content i buy?

You might want to read this Apple support documents.
Maybe they can let you know what you need.

  • Two devices on one iCloud account - how to separate?

Our family has two iPhones, one a 3 and one a 4s. We just added the 3 to the iTunes account when we got it, it wasn't really a problem that our contacts were synced or new app downloads were until today. I (on the 4s) downloaded a new software update - iOs 6.1.3, and after it had downloaded it was doing the installation questions and showed both of the numbers attached to the iCloud account, I just clicked continue continue etc (whoops). And now I'm receiving the texts that are going to the iPhone 3, so if the iPhone 4 texts the iPhone 3, the iPhone 3 receieves the message like normal, and it send normally on the iPhone 4 but then it also "receives" it on the 4 on a new thread - as if another phone has sent it. Basically I think i've accidently set my iPhone 4 to use both numbers. How can I change this? Not desperate to be receiving all the texts that the iPhone 3 is supposed to be getting!
Also, with regard to setting up a new iCloud account for the iPhone 3 (this is more practical since I have had the iPhone 4 for longer and therefore have more stuff on it), would it be best to take it into an apple shop, in the hope they would be able to back up the stuff that is on her phone (ie contacts and pictures that she can't afford to lose) and then create a new account and then put everything back onto the phone? Or would the phone keep the contacts/photos if there isn't an iCloud attached to it? Could we do this from the computer that her iPhone 3 is synced to?
    Help!
    Thanks!

The reason you are receiving each other's text messages is because you are both using the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To prevent this you need to use different IDs.  (Note: you can still share the same ID for iTunes.)  On one of the phones, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.
To migrate your 3GS to a new iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep on the phone to your camera roll.  To do this, open the my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  Next, if you have any notes that you are syncing with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to email these to yourself so they can be recreated after moving to the new account.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, choose Keep On My iPhone.  Next, sign back in with a different Apple ID to create the new account, turn iCloud data syncing preferences and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, if you have merged data in the two accounts that you want to separate you will have to go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account.

iMatch works by matching or uploading the music in your iTunes account, it doesn't matter where the music came from as long as it now in your account, but if you purchased it with a different account you will need to be logged in
    No.
As long as you computer is authorized for that iTunes account, the songs will work with iTunes Match. The user does not need to be logged in on that computer.
Husband's computer and husband's iTunes account signed in.
Songs from wife's iTunes account on computer and computer authorized for wife's account. Songs from both will work with iTunes Match.

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

  • Can I have two accounts on one imac

can I have two accounts on one imac

You have no idea how happy i would be to be proved wrong on this .. there are loads of posts in the discussion forums saying its impossible. If you can point me to where we are going wrong it would be very much appreciated. This is what we have tried ...
    1. Create a 2 iTunes libraries on a single computer login (switching with the ALT key when starting itunes)
    2. Create a new user account on the computer, create an iTunes library on each individual login.
In each scenario, the same thing happens. We can
    - Start iTunes in the right library
    - Log in to the iTunes store etc with each account.
The problem comes as soon as you try to download a purchased item, ie if I buy a song on my iPhone then try to down load it from the "purchased items" of iTunes account it was purchased under. iTunes gives a message saying that if i download something bought under iTunes Account 2, iTunes account 1 will be disabled from downloading or auto-download for 90 days as "this computer is already associated with an Apple ID"
Should probably have put this into the origianl post for clarity, apologies. i didnt really mean "logged in", we can log in to each iTunes account from the different libraries, but we can use the purchasing or download functionality - hopefully this makes more sense.
If you know how to set this up properly, it would be amazing if you could share it here?
    Many thanks

  • Easiest way to untangle two iPhones on one iTunes account

I blame myself for this problem.
My wife and I have two iPhones. I'm into the music so I set up an iTunes account a long time ago for my multiple iPods. It's now come time to disengage my wife's iPhone from my iTunes account. I know how to set up a new iTunes account. I'll get her a separate e-mail address and create the new iTunes account. The problem is I do not want to lose all her photos, contacts, etc., from her iPhone when I go to link her phone to her iTunes account.
I'm guessing if I set up the new iTunes account and then back up her phone to the new account's iCloud file I may be able to get around most of these issues.  Is that correct? Please advise if not. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Wife and I use same iTunes account (log in for iTunes) for our stuff.
We both sync with same computer.
However, we have separate logins for the computer thus we each have our own Profiles.
While you can do it with one profile (iTunes knows difference between phones) it will become a pain if you sync contacts/calendars as you only have one set on the computer thus you may end up mixing your data there. This is why you should have different logins for your computer thus.
Using one iTunes account does make things easier though as you only need to buy an app once and sync it to both devices (can do that with two accounts as well if both are authorized together in iTunes but becomes a pain).

  • In regard to Time Machine. I have two accounts one is an admin account, the other is a standard user account. When I implement Time Machine when I am logged into the Admin account, is the standard user also backed up?

    in regard to Time Machine.
I have two accounts on one Macbook Pro running OS 10.6.8. One account is an admin account, the other is a standard user account.
When I initially implemented Time Machine I was logged into the Admin account. I allowed Time Machine to erase the drive and backup the computer. Is the standard user account contents also backed up?
Also after I completed the Time Machine backup session, I turned off Time Machine and removed the portable hard drive. I plan to return in to Time Machine after being away from the portable hard drive for approximately a month. After a short interruption of approximately one month, when the Macbook Pro is reconnected and Time Machine is turned back on, will Time Machine create a new instance of a backup? WIll the back up contain the standard user account changes?

Time Machine backs up by default all the user accounts.
When you reconnect the backup drive after one month, Time Machine will do an incremental backup and it might take a while minutes to hours depending on how much has been changed. With a gap of a month, Time Machine will have to do a lengthier than normal survey of both drives to see what has changed, so it might take some time preparing for the backup. The backup will include everything that has changed since the previous one.
