Two Application Explorers icons at Sys Tray

Hi There
I am running Zen3.2 SP1 and WinXP SP1. I have two applications explorers
at Sys Tray. They hang the machine. Normally one keeps spinning and the
other one stops (magnify class still there). This problem becomes
obviously in the HP Tablet. It happens to other P4 base machines as well
but only once a while.
Naldesk.exe is at the startup of current users and all users profile of
the PC while Novell Login Script runs Nalexpld.exe as well. I have tried
to take away the login script part. But problem still there.
Any clue why there are two application explorers and hang each other?
Matthias

I think this has been fixed in SP2 Iirc.
At least it was a known issue a while ago. So i would give SP3 which is
the current one a try.

  • Is there any way by which I can not use Thunar Sys Tray icon?

    I am using stalonetray in OpenBox in Arch and when I copy-paste or cut-paste files in Thunar, a sys tray icon pops up. I don't want it to pop up.
    Is there any way by which I can make it to not pop up?

    I haven't used thunar for a while - but I don't remember it ever doing this before.  I just verified that it doesn't here (freshly installed thunar, and cut-pasted, copy-pasted, etc, and I didn't get a tray icon.
    Are you sure this isn't some other tool, like a clipboard manager?  Are their any tooltip popups or menus available on the tray icon and/or what happens when you click the icon?
    No. I use only Thunar. When I hover on the icon it says that "1 file operation running" when a copy-paste or cut-paste operation happens and when I left click and right click on it, it shows the copying window of thunar. The icon shows two small yellow folders placed diagonally. It's the same icon that appears on the file operation progress window of Thunar. I don't know whether Numix has anything to do with the specific icon though.

  • I can't see firefox. But, In windows task manager, firefox shows as a process but not an application. Icon shows in the tray.

    I downloaded and reinstalled firefox to try to eliminate an aggravation- playtopus. Now it doesn't load onto my desktop. I see the icon in the tray. In Task Manager I see firefox listed as a process. But not an application.
    tks.

  • Bouncing Application Icon in the tray

    I have an application that has no GUI at all.
    When it launches it creates an icon in the launch bar tray (the generic ruler, graph paper one), that begins to bounce.
    First, id like to not have an icon in the tray at all, and secondly, if I must have one, how do I keep it from bouncing like that?

    Good!
    I haven't done much Carbon programming in recent years. But I tried creating a new "Carbon Application" from Xcode's template... and by default it had an Info.plist in the Resources group. I'm not sure why yours doesn't.
    However, when you build your app It looks like the Info.plist goes directly into the app bundle's "Contents" folder and not in "Contents/Resources".
    Also, it looks like one way to edit the Info.plist is to select your target in the Xcode "Groups & Files" list then click the "Info" button (or select "File -> Get Info"). In the info window select the "Properties" tab. The settings in this pane go into "Info.plist". There's a button at the bottom of the pane to "Open Info.plist as File"... which you can use to open the plist in an editor to add arbitrary keys and values.

  • Crossed-out signs over two application icons

    I have an Intel iMac running OS X 10.6.8.  Two applications, iTunes and iPhoto, have white crossed-out signs over them.  Does anyone have any idea why this is?  I've restarted the computer and done a software-update and they're still crossed-out, although both are working just fine.

    Hi Jaun,
    Are you running in an admin account?
    In Finder do a Get Info on those 2 Apps & see if they're Locked or what rights it says you have.

  • Icon lives in tray, but does not do anything

    Lightroom 5 icon appears in tray; clicking or double clicking does not cause LR 5 to open.  I suspect this is something I don't know about my iMac.  Solution(s)?

    To make an alias click on Finder.
    When Finder opens choose Applications
    Right-click (or hold two fingers on the track pad) on Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5
    Then choose Make Alias
    The alias will have a small arrow in the corner to indicate it is a shortcut to the application.
    Drag it to the Desktop folder.
    Close Finder and you can now drag the new icon from the desktop down into the dock.

  • Minimizing java GUI to sys tray

    I want to write an alarm scheduler GUI which will continuously run on the system, both Windows and Mac. Here are the tasks I need to accomplish:
    1) When the user clicks on the close window or "X" sign, I simply want to minimize the gui to sys tray in case of Windows, or push it to background in case of Mac (somehow hide the GUI from the screen in both cases).
    2) Another requirement is that if the user starts the program from desktop by clicking on an icon, the program should check to see if an instance of itself is already running, and if so, load the running instance. And what i mean by that is to bring the GUI back to screen. If the program is not already running, start a brand new instance of it.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Prometheus, appreciate the help. But using singleton pattern doesnt solve the problem. Here is my code for singleton and the test classes.
    package com.vetinsite.scheduler;
    public class Singleton {
        private static com.vetinsite.scheduler.Singleton uniqueInstance;
        private int var;
        private Singleton() {}
        public static synchronized Singleton getInstance(){
            if(uniqueInstance == null){
                 uniqueInstance = new Singleton();
            return uniqueInstance;
        public void setVar(int v){
            this.var = v;
        public void print(){
            System.out.println(var);
    package com.vetinsite.scheduler;
    public class Test1 {
        public static void main (String argv[]){
            com.vetinsite.scheduler.Singleton single = Singleton.getInstance();
            single.setVar(1);
            single.print();
            single.setVar(2);
            try{
                 Thread.sleep(10000);
            catch (Exception e){}
            single = Singleton.getInstance();
            single.print();
    package com.vetinsite.scheduler;
    public class Test2 {
        public static void main (String argv[]){
            com.vetinsite.scheduler.Singleton single = Singleton.getInstance();
            single.print();
    }I run Test1 which sets the singleton's "var" variable to 1 and then 2. Then sleeps for 10 second. Within the 10 sec period I run Test2 expecting it to print out "2", but it instead prints "0". I guess my understanding of singleton pattern is wrong, becoz I thought if two different classes in the same package tried to instantiate the singleton object, it would one create one instance. But in this test its obviously creating two.
    If I cant use singleton pattern, is there any other means by which I can reload the running instance of a GUI.

  • Windows 8.1 64 bit machine, search charm shows two application shortcut

    We have Windows 8.1 64 bit machine.
    We installed a application and found working it properly.
    If we click on Windows button and search application description
    then, we noticed search charm shows two application short-cuts.
    1. Right click on first short-cut pointing to multiple options like - Pin to start, taskbar, uninstall, file location path, etc and after click on any menu item it works successfully. Even file location shows proper 'program files' folder.
    2. Right click on second short-cut does not give any option. But, after click on this short-cut application launches successfully.
    Also, after uninstall of this application. We found the second short-cut still exist.
    We searched through complete registry and did not found any reference of the same application. Even 'program files' folder got cleaned, too.
    But, click on second icon in the search charm we got an error -
    "Windows cannot find C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings\en-US\NameSpace_Classic_{940B1CC9-013F-468Ee-BBBF-4A975461F120}.settingcontent-ms"
    Make sure you typed name correctly, and then try again."
    where
    The above file was present when application was installed and after uninstall above file got deleted.
    But, the short-cut still exists.
    Please let me know how we remove this second short-cut while installation. The same application installation does not show this kind of behaviour on other OS's.
    Thanks - Shashi

  • How can we launch the labview screen beyond other screens while running two applications on a same time

    Hi all,
     I need to run two applications in my system at same time. one of the application is labview. it is running in backside. the dialog boxes which i created in labveiew need to display in fron of all applications.... what should i do to do that.....any suggestions...
    thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Ragu

    The easiest thing to do (but can be bad) is to make the LabVIEW window modal.  This will make it the front most window at all times, until the program stops executing.  As you can imagine if you don't have a way to close the window then you will be forced to kill LabVIEW through the taskmanager.
    To make window modal go to VI Properties (by right clicking the VI's icon) go to Window Appearance, click Customize, then under Window Behavior select Modal.
    The other more complicated solution is to use Dll calls to bring the window to the front.

  • Have Audigy2 in Vista, why are there two volume control icons in system tr

    Hi,
    I'm running an Audigy2 on a Windows Vista system. There are two volume control icons in the system tray. One is the Soundblaster control, the other is the Windows control.
    Are these two programs supposed to be running at the same time? Do they conflict with one another?
    Thanks for your time,
    Big Al Mintaka

    Hi pgaastra.  I don't know why there are two items in the task bar, but you have identified the
    recommended fix.  The why never bothered me enough to investigate, so maybe we will both
    find out now.

    ALERT to the possibility of bad use of FRAUD in FAKES APPLICATIONS to iPad in iTunes Store. I bought two applications: Word Office, and PowerPoint  - $20,00 each-, because the advertising announce it's as Productivity Applications, able to work with them and consequently, to write, to save the works, to print, and else. But it's is ABSOLUTELY FALSE because this FAKE APPLICATIONS only PRETEND to be, but really its contains a BUNCH OF TUTORIALS VIDEOS!!!. So if you need applications to write, a make presentations or else, I strongly recommend PAGES, NUMBERS and KEYNOTE, the Apple applications and your money to be save and guaranteed!. I really think that the iTUNES STORE and the APPLEI STORE must to be policy ALL the applications products BEFORE authorized the sell in his official site!.

    Is this one of the apps that you bought?
    Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 - Be Expert
    It may not be completely obvious, but it is, at least, categorized as Education with an, albeit small, disclaimer "(noted: this app is not the PowerPoint from Microsoft)"
    The description is accurate, as it is all "What you can know" and "What you can learn" but they probably should use a different icon to avoid confusion.

  • Application Explorer icon location issue

    I'm in the process of building new images (XP Pro SP3) that include
    ZENworks Agent v7.0.1.4 (to address some policy application issues we're
    experiencing).
    After imaging a machine, the Application Explorer icon is being
    positioned on the right-hand side of the desktop. This differs from
    7.0.1.0, for which the Application Explorer icon adheres to the "align
    to grid" setting and happily lines up with all other desktop icons on
    the left-hand side of the desktop. This is an issue as our background
    bitmap contains a logo/image and other info in the 400 pixels on the
    right... the Application Explorer icon gets lost if it's on that side.
    Note that there are no app object icons on the desktop and there are
    only 15 icons in total for the particular user I'm logged in as (incl.
    the Application Explorer, Recycle Bin, IE and WMP) - 11 icons reside in
    the users redirected desktop folder. I've done a side-by-side image
    build with Agent v7.0.1.0 and v7.0.1.4 - no other changes. This only
    happens with with the newer agent. The agent was installed fresh in both
    cases - not updated.
    Thoughts? This is holding up image development at this point.
    What I have observed is:
    -login as my non-volatile test user, app explorer is on the right (I can
    do this repeatedly and it stays on the right)
    -logout and temporarily move the users icons from the users redirected
    Desktop
    -login and App Explorer tucks itself nicely under the IE icon on the
    left... *but* I first see the icon appear on the right before it's
    magically repositioned on the left!
    -logout and put the icons back in the users redirected Desktop
    -login and App Explorer remains on the left!
    I'm imaging two machines right now so I can do some more side-by-side
    testing... hopefully identify something...

  • 3.2.3;Swing app.; Cannot work with two applications at the same time.

    Hi guys,
    I bring this problem here may somebody experienced that.
    I developed two client side applications(applets) with JDev3.2.3.
    Locate them on Apache/Tomcat. There is also a
    Index.html file with two links, so when user clicks on
    each link the associated application will downloaded
    on his/her PC and ready to work. (In index.html I used
    JavaScript function window.open(…) to load the applications)
    Now please see this scenario:
    1-I ran/loaded both application in two separate
    browsers(IE5.5). And tried to work with them(minimized
    one and work with another). Soon I faced unexpected
    frizzing/locking or very slow running on both
    applications.
    2-Then closed/killed one of them(killed IE). Then
    re-executed same application again. The application
    loaded with the last activated screen . Seems it never
    killed and it was still alive.
    3- The only way to successfully working is one by one.
    Means execute & work with one, then kill that, and
    then execute and work with another. Which is not expected
    in the Windows enviroment.
    To Debug:
    When both applications were running(each on it’s own
    IE), I opened the Task Manager and saw there was only
    one IEXPLORER.EXE was running, also there was only one
    Java VM (a little bird icon) on right-bottom of the
    screen.
    I believe this causes the problem. Seems they both
    running in the same session. Since I opened two
    applications in two IE I was expected to see two
    IEXPLORER.EXE with two JVM. Am I right? Do you think
    so?
    Any way, Now I am seeking to find the solution. My
    primary mind says probably I should not use
    window.open(..) in index.html to load the
    applications.
    Would appreciate any command on this.

    Same thing with me! My microphone doesn't even register in anything but ventrilo!
    It's dri'ves me NUTS! I bought the card (xfi fatalty) for a really good price, but I almost regret even looking into the soundcard because of this bug. I know Vista is a new operating system..but I figure'd this kind of update should have been noticed MUCH earlier..
    Please creative, can you fix this?
    On another note..is there a sound quality difference between using an x-fi in vista vs xp?
    *not meaning to thread jack*
    finally..
    you should probably close the other thread.. You made two, you know.
