Two applications Pages on Macbook Air

I have two applications Pages on Macbook Air.
The first Pages has already been buying MacBook Air in package iWorks but it was shareware. Then I paid for a working version, but now I have two applications Pages and they interfere with each other. The first Pages is not removed as part of a package iWorks. How to make sure that there is only one application Pages?
Pages ’09 version 4.3

  • Applications on my MacBook Air keep crashing

    Hi,
I have a mid-2012 11-inch MacBook Air, with Mountain Lion installed and all software updated to the most recent versions.
Over the past few weeks, I've been dealing with an increasing number of crashes among open applications (Safari, Mail and Skype), whether they are active, in the background, hidden or minimised. Lately, whenever Safari crashes, it takes around a minute to start loading up web pages properly. I'm not sure how to fix this - I've tried running Disk Utility and it reports no problems. I have Avast! and it repoorts no infections (though more than a few warnings of corrupted files).
Any suggestions as to what could be causing this, or how I might get around to dealing with it?
    -C

I wasn't clear, I meant utilities such as menubar items or other types of add-on (SIMBL, for example.) The other thing to consider is that something is corrupted that is causing the crashes. Consider setting up a new user account with admin privileges. Log into this new account and see if the same crashes occur. If they don't, then there's a problem with one or more things in your normal user account - preference files, temporary files, cache files, for example.)
And, I can't urge you enough to uninstall the AV software. Avast should have an uninstaller to use.

  • How to connect two thunderbolt devices to Macbook Air?

I have been using an Apple thunderbolt to VGA adapter to connect my digital projector to a Macbook Air.  Now I need to also connect a pro audio firewire mixer, which has a firewire 400 cable.  If I didn't have to connect the projector as well, I presume that the way to go would be to use an Apple thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter with an 800 to 400 adapter on the end, but as I have two devices I am rather stumped.
I know that thunderbolt/mini display is for daisy chaining, so there isn't such a thing as a thunderbolt hub, except that I could maybe use the Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock (expensive as it is, it may be a cheaper option than others).  I have read mixed reviews of this device, but it looks like it could essentially work - one thunderbolt cable to connect the Macbook to the dock, then use the Firewire 800 port on the dock with an 800-400 adapter for the mixer and the second thunderbolt port on the dock for the projector with the VGA adapter.  I am wondering if there are any other possible solutions though, other than buying a Macbook Pro!
    Thanks,
    Nick

Sounds like a good suggestion but it is from 2009 and out of stock at Amazon.
This URL lists a newer one and says it is Mac compatible.  I also do not have any experience with this product.
    http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-UGA-165-1920x1080-1600x1200-DisplayLink/dp/B004AI JE9G/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_7
General advice:  Keep all the packaging material in case you need to to return it in the 30 day Amazon return period (assuming it qualifies for a return).  Purchase it on a credit card with consumer protection that entitles you to a refund if the seller will not accept the return.

  • Sharing Music: using one iTunes account for two users on one MacBook Air

I'm trying to set up my parents on their new MacBook Air and I have set up an account for each of them. To keep their music collection simple & compact I want them both to use one iTunes account on the one machine. Can two separate users work off the same iTunes account on the one machine?
I have tried the Home Sharing function but this seems to be for separate machines rather than accounts.
I have also tried putting the music into a shared folder but this hasn't worked properly for me as the secondary account is able to purchase (but not download) the music correctly from iTunes.
    Any help appreciated. Thank you.

  • I deleted my iPhoto Application from my MacBook Air by mistake. But I have backup on my TimeMachine. How does it work if I wanna get it back from Time Machine? Is it possible? Thanks.

I've just deleted iPhoto from my applications by mistake on my MacBook Air. But I do have a backup on Time Machine. Can I get it back from there? How do I do it? Thanks.

Do you still have iPhoto in your Trash? Thenopen the Trash, select "iPhoto", ctrl-click, and select "Put Back".
If iPhoto came preinstalled on your mac, or you bought it from the AppStore, it would be easier, to download it again from the AppStore. If you open the AppStore and sign in with your AppleID, click the "Purchased" tab, then you should see iPhoto waiting for you, ready to download. Click the "Install" button.
To restore from TimeMachine, select your Applications folder in the Finder.
Enter Time Machine and go back  in time, to the time before you deleted your iPhoto. select iPhoto and press the restore button.
    Good Luck

  • Running windows xp applications on a macbook air

I need to run some legacy windows xp applications in my new macbook air.  What version of windows 7 I need to use?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, check that those applications are supported. Then, if you have to run apps that don't need all the performance of the Mac, just download Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows on a virtual machine. In this case, you can choose the Windows version and edition you want to install, but I recommend Windows 7.
If you have to run apps that requires the maximum performance, you have to use Boot Camp. In this case, you can only install Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate (it's better to run a 64-bit edition). To install Windows on Boot Camp, just open "Boot Camp Assistant" and follow these steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
If you are going to use Boot Camp, please follow carefully the steps, because you can delete OS X by mistake and lose everything. Apart from that, you need an external optical drive to install Windows. Any will work with the MacBook

  • Application trouble on MacBook Air...

I have recently downloaed an app from the app store onto my macbook air and I am unable to find the app. I have not had this trouble in the past when downloading apps. I would like to know where exactly my app went so that I can move it to an easier place to find.
    Thanks!!

    Hi m,
Take a look in your Downloads folder for the download, but if you already opened/installed it, look in your Applications folder for. Post back if it's not in either place.

  • Get Pages onto MacBook Air?

I have purchased Pages for iMac and would like to use it on our MacBook Air.  I am not seeing it in my "Purchsed apps".  Is there another way to get the software on the laptop?  Can I just transfer via thumb drive?

Since you seem to be looking at the Mac App Store, you must have purchased the Pages app there. Log into the Mac App Store on your new computer using the same ID as you used to purchase Pages on the old computer. Then download and install. You will only see Pages as having been purchased if you are using the proper Apple ID account.

  • First backup is taking forever (more than two days) in my MacBook Air

First backup is taking forever , painfully slow, I am using MacBook Air, what can I do to speed things up. is there a particular way to set TC up ?? I set it up to join an existing wireless network, is this right or wrong? I just need a few tips to make the backup faster.

Answer: yes, the Time Capsule is junk - in my opinion. I was excited about an all-in-one router plus 1TB of backup wirelessly available, but if you check the many posts about this thing, you'll hear about numerous problems:
    - unbelievably slow backups, overnight or longer for the first, very long for even small backups after minor activity - and not necessarily due to network speeds.
    - heat issues - this thing runs very hot, even with fans running, and people have had to put little rubber feet under it to improve airflow, etc. - not something I think is reasonable for a $500+ item - some get an "overheating" message from the utility app.
    - problems with hanging - it hangs on "Preparing Backup" (as it did for me for days) and doesn't backup - thereby making the unit useless as it was designed.
    - mounting and recognition issues - not so much with me but for quite a few others.
SEND IT BACK... I am sending mine back and going back to manual backups where I can see exactly what is being backed up to my external HDD and where it is. The opaque nature of the entire Time Machine backup is irritating to me - TC was "backing up" say, "75MB of 125.3MB" but I had no idea what it was backing up, and why only 125.3MB? Was that all my activity changed during the session? Or all sorts of system files, etc. being backed up? I'm not techie enough to get into the guts of it, so I am going back to my usual external HDD to do it by hand. It's a good habit to get into (if inconvenient compared to the TC) but at least I am secure with it.
I am also not sure if TC can be used as a plug-and-play USB storage drive if I were to, say, just connect it to a Windows machine and try to access files in folders. I suppose not?

  • While syncing my google contacts with address book application on my macbook air I accidentally deleted directory services group on the left. How to get it back? Now I am unable to sync my contacts either with google or with icloud.

I use OSX Maverics. On my macbook air OSX 10.9.4. On the left side (groups), I have accidentally deleted the Directories group. Now I am unable to sync contacts with gmail. What should I do?

Add them back in Contacts/Preferences/Accounts. Use the + sign at the bottom.

  • Pages for Macbook Air

Just tried to purchase Pages on my mac air. Said my OS at 10.6.8 is not big enough. Now what do I do to make flyers, posters, etc?

The current version of Pages requires 10.7.4 or higher. Either upgrade to Lion, or see if you can find an older version of Pages/iWork on DVD. A place you might look for iWork is eBay.
If you find upgrading to Lion a problem, perhaps ypu can get by using a freeware Office type application.LibreOffice and OpenOffice are two that come to mind.

  • Is Pages on iPhone same as Pages on MacBook Air?

I already bought Pages for iPhone and have since updated to version 2.0. now need Pages update for MacBook. Why do I need to purchase for $19.99?
"Pages 4.3 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy Pages 5.0.1?"

They are separate appliactions for separate OSes.
Are you sure you "need" Pages 5? In most respects it is a downgrade.
However if you insist, see Apple Up-To-Date Program:

  • Can't swipe between pages on Macbook Air

I was working and noticed my pointer tool wouldn't change from the hand to an arrow. I went to system preferences, looked for something there. I clicked on "trackpad" and looked at the settings but didn't change anything. Since I've closed it I can't swipe betwee pages. I went back to trackpad and the option to swipe with 3 fingers is checked. Any suggestions?

  • I removed App store application on my MacBook Air, how do I get it back?

    Hi there,
I removed my App store from my mac and now I can't find anywhere a link to download it again.
I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10 and would appreciate any help guys!
    Best regards,
    Svetoslav K

If you have a backup which contains it, restore it from there. If not, back the computer up, restart with the Command and R keys held down, and reinstall Mac OS X.

  • Can not find applications library on MacBook air

Trying to delete a Bento data base file. Can not find under user

Apple has hidden the user library in Lion. Hold down the option key in finder's Go menu and you will be able to select it.
If you need to access your user library frequently you might want to read MacWorld's 18 ways to view the ~/Library folder in Lion .
If you use EasyFind as softwater suggested right-click on one of the search results to show the file/folder in the finder or to move it to the trash.
