Two BW systems to single source system

Hi,
I have created sandbox and copied BW production now its BWQ.
Now we want to connect BWQ to R/3 PRD as source system. But from RSA1 when I try to restore PRD it will delete the connection to BWP and creates to BWQ. But I want both connections to work.
How this canbe done?

hi,
not sure, try check following links, in r/3 side transaction sbiw

i have no access to system now, not sure whether there is authorization object for datasource in bw side.

• Single sourcing

I use Framemaker 10 and am evaluating the best way for me as the lone writer to set up single sourcing. It looks as if I have two choices: conditional text and text insets. First--is that assumption right?
I read where a writer did not like text insets, which I have used a couple of years ago using structured Frame. That seemed easier to me from my experience, but this writer perferred conditional text.
What are other's experiences? Is one more of a problem than another?
Do I need to use structured Frame, or can I use unstructured?
Thanks
Pam

I'm pretty rusty on structured FM, but IIRC, one or more of the highest-level elements, perhaps doctype, can control the behavior of lower-level elements. I'm not sure the inclusion/exclusion of content, similar to conditional text, is controllaable this way. Lots of folks on this forum can clarify this.

Hi Pam,
Conditional text and text insets are the two primary tools for single sourcing. You can also share FrameMaker files across books. I do that myself and it works fine as long as you are careful with cross references.
That writer was very confused about the purpose of text insets. Text insets and conditional text are not subsitutes for one another, they are complements to one another. Each one serves a different purpose. You use one, or the other, or both based on the use case.
A text inset is a FrameMaker file that you import by reference into another FrameMaker file. A text inset can contain an arbitrary amount of content that includes but is not limited to text, graphics, and XREFs.
Conditional text is text shown or hidden depending on the audience that sees the content. For example, you may have document that goes to people on Windows OS and Linux OS, so you may apply conditional text to OS specific information. This allows you to hide Windows content and show Linux content when publishing for the Linux audience.
You use text insets when you want to use the same content in multiple places in a book or books. You use conditional text when you need to publish the same book to different audiences and you need to only show audience specific information. You can for example apply conditional text to a text inset because that single sourced content may only be appropriate for a particular audience.
I personally use all of the above: text insets, conditional text, and sharing framemaker files across books. Personally, I find that conditional text is much more tricky to use based on how it needs to be applied because you can easily show or hide something that you did not intend. Definitely turn on your paragraph marks so you can make sure the conditional text is applied to the paragraph pilcrows.
I manage a documentation set of 3,000 pages, 40 documents, 2 products, and six product editions. The text insets and conditional text are good enough for me.
There's nothing about structured FrameMaker that I know of that will help you with single sourcing that unstructured FrameMaker cannot do.

• Connecting two BW systems to the one R/3 source system

Hi all!
I have to connect two BW Systems to one R3 system. In our last tests we have had problems trying to connect two BW servers simultaneously with R/3 source system because it allows only a logical system name for each R/3 client, and (We guess that we need to define tow diferent logical system name, one for each connection). This has been generating errors when we try to load data from R/3 to BW because, we guess, R/3 does not recognize the BW source system in the ALE connection for someone BW systems at transfer data. In this moment I have one connection active (BW1-R3). The BW2-R3 connection is already inactive. Does anybody know how perform this? we need solve the transfers problem as soon as possible.
Thanks! Judi

• Connect two BW systems to one source system

Hi Experts!
I would like to know if I can set up two BW systems connect to one source system. We copied and built new BW system (BW2) from existing BW system (BW1). We need to have both system connect to one source system. When I execut Restore from BW2 - RSA1 - Source System, I'm getting a following prompt:
"Connection cannot be used. The connection BB is used in the DEV400 source system as a connection BW1400 to BW. Do you want to delete this connection in source system".
If I select "Delete" then it replace exising connection between BW1 - DEV and creates new connection BW2 - DEV. If I go back to BW1 and do restore then same thing happens as BW2 connection removed.
Is there anyway we can set up two BW systems connection to one source system with restore? Connection works fine since each one can connection with no issues. Just when I do restore, it removes other connection.
Thanks.

• When we connect two bw systems to one R/3 system?

Hi ,
When we connect two bw systems to one R/3 system,
could you please exlain what is the imact to SAP and BW in terms of query performance, batch performance,Develoment ,Quality system, security,BW Support.
Thanks in advance.

kranthi

you can connect multiple BW to single R3 source system.
In the delta queue (RSA7 in source system), you have a field with the target system, so you don´t have problem if you have many target bw system, because the data selection is done by system field.
Challenge arises when you have multiple R3 feeding to single BW system and then you have to consolidate the master data say 0material fed from different source system R3 then you can consolidate data using consolidated infoobject.
The following components concatenate to the key of a consolidated InfoObject:
1)source system ID (two-character source system ID; permitted values are stored NW BI table RSSOURSYSTEM)
2)one blank character
3)backend object type (four-character backend object type; permitted values are stored BI table RSBWBEOTYP)
4)master data key value as stored in the source system
Note that the key of a consolidated InfoObject solely consists of non-integrated informations from the different source systems. Integration across source systems results from a (maybee repeatedly applied) data consolidation and cleasing process which unveils duplicate master data keys.
Hope it Helps

• Two PI systems in same SLD when upgrading PI 7.4

We are upgrading SAP Process Integration (PI) from 7.11 to 7.4 with option new installation and phase out. We are going from dual stack to single stack and will have the two PIs running parallel for a longer period.
Which are the issues we can run into using same System Landscape (SLD) for both PI systems?
We found that it is not possible to have two Business Systems (BS) connected to the same ABAP Technical System with the same client. Will it be possible to reuse the existing BS, which is then still connected to the PI 7.11, for PI 7.4?
WIll it be possible in production SLD to switch the Integration Server for backend ABAP BS?
How did you setup the SLD when new installation?
Best regards,
Maria S. L.

I've never tried that scenario ( two PI environments ->one SLD) but why don't you handle them separately as it's a new installation.
I believe you will be decommissioning existing PI landscape(SLD) post migration.
Don't change any SLD connections until you completely migrate to newer version of PI.
1) Export the SLD content from existing system to new system(TS,BS,SWCV etc)
2) In the back-end system maintain separate connections to required environment at interface level.
Refer to below blog to know how to maintain IS_URL paramter at interface level.

3) once you migrate all your interfaces change then change SLD pointers to new PI landscape.

• SLD: Pointing two business systems to the same client...

Hi Guys,
Is there anyway to make two business systems point to the same client(on the same r/3 technical system)? how about a work around?
Thanks,
Harsh

Harsh,
>>Finally all collapse to one client in production.
Even though you will have multiple Business Systems in every envrionment, the final transport will happen from only one environment.
DEV --> QA --> PROD. In this case, objects are moved from dev to qa and then from QA to prod and so, all you will need is the trasnport target created in the QA business systems pointing to the Prod busines system and do the transport.
>While transporting to a new SLD(quality to prod) can I choose one transport target for multiple source business systems?
Take a look at this document for multiple SLD transports. Should answer all doubts,

• Replication issue between two APO systems

Hi,
I have two APO systems. I am trying to replicate the Forecast data from one system to the other. In the first system, I created the Export data source of the Forecast infocube. In the second system, I created a data target and used the extracted datasource from the first system as the info source. Now the issue is that the data is getting updated in the second system except for the one plant where the data is erroring out. When I look at the error, the data seems to have been offset by a character to the left. The error is happening to only this one particular plant. I checked up the plant information in both the systems and it looks alright. Any ideas why only one plant is affected?
Best Regards,
Jai

Please ignore this issue. I found out the data was bad. Unable to delete this question.

• Two BW systems to one R/3 system

Hi,
We have connected two BW systems to R/3. The physical connection is working as it should, but we have problems loading data. The message we got is to do with basic idoc type "BW unknown in source system".
Can anybody tell me what to do?
Regards,
Harald

Hi
Is the 2 BW systems identical?
if they are check your midlewear (usually a Basis task).
If the 2 BW sys are not the same then u need to check the compatibility between R3 and the failing BW (could be Plug in's or SP's).

Hi,
Well at first thought, i wouldnt go for the Landscape that you are suggesting. Because of obvious reasons:
1. Performance issues while loading, on reporting.
2. Data sources might work fine for one system and not for the other, then the whole setup is hit badly.
3. Security and management of the 2 systems, will be a big task.
4. Jobs would take a longer time if the Batch processes are not sufficient.

• ChaRM: Two Virtual Systems?

Hi Experts,
It is possible to have two virtual systems in a ChaRM three tier landscape? DEV -> Virtual System 1 -> Virtual System 2?

• Two BW Systems to One OLTP Systems.

Hello experts:
We are in the process of connecting two BW systems one OLTP system. Currently the BW system is connected to one OLTP system.
I have many blogs here about this issue. But I am unable to see any answers on how to set this up. Table RSBASIDOC table(in the OLTP system) has only one entry. How can add another entry in this table to point to two BW Systems.
As alwasy points will be rewarded.

Why it is better to filter in the BW system rather than in R/3 ?
I would like to avoid any changes in BW, because of:
- reducing data traffic
- in the source system we have more data(fields), that can be used as filter in EXIT_SAPLRSAP_001
The data sources are unfortunately the same for the both BW systems, so I cannot differ between them.
What do you think about these solutions:
1. Modification in the source system - to pass logical system of BW into EXIT_SAPLRSAP_001 (the logical system is available just before EXIT_SAPLRSAP_001 is called, but unfortunately is not passed as parameter)
2. Pass some dummy selection parameter from BW just to identify BW system ...
May be any other solutions ?

• Can two ERP systems talk to one SCM?

Hello Experts,
We have a requirement to connect Two ERP systems to one SCM system?
Is this option available is available in SCM? CIF processing and optimizer should divide for the two ERP systems in SCM.
Please advice .
Thanks
Ramesh

Hi Ramesh,
Yes; it is possible to integrate multiple R/3 systems with single APO. You need to define multiple business system groups in APO and assign to different R/3 logical systems to be integrated(transaction /SAPAPO/C1 and /SAPAPO/C2). Also you can use CIF enhancements APOCF001 on APO inbound to attach (suffix) a unique R/3 identifier along with product and location codes. For this, you have to maintain a Z table containing the required suffixes. You may further refer to application help in the enhancement transaction.
