Two choices when installing driver "HP Universal Printing PS"

Hi,
When I'm installing the driver "HP Universal Driver PS" that is suggested driver to download from HPs site, I get two choices:
HP Universal Printing PS
HP Universal Printing PS (v5.9.0)
I've tried to install both to see the difference but can't see any difference in Driver Version or in the "Config File", "Driver File" or "Dependent Files". I've compared them both so it gets me wondering what is the difference. I'm not a big fan of Universal drivers since HP Universal Printing v5.2 which chrashed several customers spoolers.
So it's actually not a problem today, but I want to avoid a potential problem. I think there got to be a difference when there is two choices.

I am not sure where or what product site you are seeing the 2 versions listed on but the Unviersal Print Driver site is only listing the one version of PostScript...5.9. There is not difference between the version.
Please bookmark the UPD site and reference it for the future as it will have the most up to date information.

Problem #2 is not a problem. We have been able to somewhat install Oracle when those warnings appear. The client install works fine with those warning messages in the terminal window. NOTE: They are just warnings...

looks like this is your network connection settings problem, you'd better only keep one network adaptor online and linked, if you do not understand how to setup windows routing, this is completely not firefox problem. buddy. wish you goodluck.

Problem installing Laserjet 4050 in Windows 7 x64, No driver in Universal Print Driver v5.0.3

I have just installed Windows 7 64Bit operating system. I have be successful in installing several other more recent HP printers in the office. However, my main "workhorse" printer is a HP Laserjet 4050 and I have downloaded the Universal Printer Driver v5.0.3 for Windows x64 - PCL 5 and PCL 6, and in both cases it does not find a suitable driver. The HP download site states these Universal Drivers will work, but I cannot get it to install.
Is there a driver that will work on the 4050 in Windows 7 X64? Thanks everyone.

You're probably getting the "Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver" error if you're trying to add the driver while adding a printer that is shared over the network. You see, HP's Universal Printer Driver (UPD) doesn't contain the PnpIDs of every printers it supports, so when you specify HP's UPD as the drivers for the network printer, if Windows can't find a match for the printer's PnpID it spits out the driver isn't compatible.
The way to overcome this is to install a "generic" printer locally, using HP's UP driver, and change the port afterwards to point to the shared printer. So, first, add a local printer (that will be using the LPT1 port - make sure no printer is attached!), and click on "Have disk(s)" to browse to and select HP's UPD. Going through the remaining steps should install a locally-attached printer named something like "HP Universal Printing PCL 5" (or "[..] PCL 6"). You'll then go in the new printer's properties, on the "Ports" tab, and click on "Add Port...". If you're installing a shared printer, you'll select "Local Port", click on "New Port..." and specify the path to the printer (e.g. \\myserver\hplaserj) as the port name. Those steps should do the trick.
Last thing: beware, though, as HP's UPD PCL 6 might not be compatible (anymore) with your LaserJet 4050, as they use a PCL XL class number/revision (class 2.1; sort of a version number of the protocol) that is higher than what your printer's firmware might support for PCL6 (should be class 2.0) I know the latest versions of HP's UPD PCL 6 doesn't work with our LJ 4000 & 4050 printers, so you might have to use the PCL5e driver for those 64-bit workstations.

Installation error 0x00004005 when installing aHP 1220c network printer on a win 7 - 64 bit

I am attempting to install an HP 1220c printer on my new Win 7-64 laptop. The laptop finds the printer connected to a desktop XP computer automatically when I click "Add New Network Printer" but the installation fails with error 0x00004005. If I connect the printer via a USB cable directly to the new laptop, it installs OK.
After the USB install went OK, I replugged the printer into the XP desktop and tried again. I got the same error message even though the laptop found the printer on the desktop automatically.

Yes I have tried the CS5 Cleanup Tool - multiple times. Doesn't help.
I am surprised to hear that you installed with no problems in light of Tech Support being adament that it won't work on Windows 7 and is not supported.
I told Tech that I didn't accept that as there are probably hundreds of thousands of users with CS3 who have installed or tried to install on a Win7 machine and not everyone has hundreds of dollars spare to upgrade.
I only really use DW, PS and Acrobat in the Suite so I'm going to have to save to buy those products but it won't be anytime soon.

When you get that message, just select "yes" or "continue anyway" and you should be fine.

Two errors when installing oracle9i personal for win98

hi
i have installed a typical version of personal oracle9i for win98 on my e drive.i have windows 98 in c drive. While installing i got two errors:
1)error in writing to file e:\oracle9i\sqlj\lib\translator.zip
2)error in writing to file e:\oracle9i\assistants\dbca\templates\Seec_Database.dbf
Is it possible to perform a custom installation without these errors.
After installing by skipping those errors when i start sql plus i am getting these errors:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
-01017:invalid username/password; logon denied
one of the friends suggested that i start oracle services in control panel. but i don't have "oracle services" in my control panel of win98.
is there a way to overcome these errors.

You get this error when you don't start the Oracle services. Please goto control panel and start the Oracle services and then try to login to solve the problem.

Why is "run" not a choice when installing itunes?

I just tried to download itunes for the first time. "Run" was not an option, so I chose "save". I have tried again to download it, and the same thing happens. I cannot find itunes on my computer when I search the programs or when I plug in my ipod. Any suggestions?

You need to look for iTunesSetup.exe. If you can't find it on your system, most likely it's not getting downloaded completely. Check to see where your browser is saying that it's saving the file - it may be defaulting to a temp folder which may be getting cleared. If so, change to someplace more permanent; your user's desktop, Documents folder, etc. If all else fails, try a different web browser.

Am trying to instal driver for HP3600 printer onto my new HP625 laptop but keep getting message that I do not have IE5 or later and cannot instal until I instal IE5 or later. I have the lastet Internet Explorer so don't know why I get the message and why I can't instal the driver. Can anyone help me?

Officejet 4500 wireless printer keep geeting error message when installing the driver

hi can anyone help im trying to install my officejet printer 4500 g510 n-z driver from the hp website and i keep getting an error message and i have no idea how to stop getting this message as i have tried a few times to install the drive and keep gettimg the same message im running windows 8.1 if tht helps

I have just purchased a new IMac and have had very little to do with Apple before so everything is foreign. I used the help desk today to download the driver for my printer Canon MP640 which came up as connected with the green light. When I went to print my first document it is now coming up with an error that ther is a "communication error". I am not a techno person and don't have a great deal of patience with technology.

Choice of primary/boot drive when 2 drives are installed

Hi,
I purchased machine (m7-j120dx) with spindle-HD installed in HDD1 slot., and upgraded by adding SSD in HHD2 slot.
I cannot find in BIOS setup controls to designate drive in my SSD (located in HHD2 slot) as boot drive.
It seems the choice of boot drive does not exist.
Is it hard coded in BIOS to use drive connected to HDD1 connector (on motherboard) as boot?
I was hoping to solve this in software, rather that physically move the drives around
(to make my SSD boot, and HD secondary).
Is the physical switch of drives is necessary?

Yeah you have to switch them. It is hard wired to use only the primary bay drive as the bootable.

HP Laserjet CP1025nw Color Printer - printer prints two copies when only one is requested.

pcwizard (HP) requested that I try Foxit Reader 5.1 to see if the printer will print properly. I used the same previous document and printed it with Foxit Reader 5.1. The printer printed two copies when only one was requested as it had done in the past. We still have a problem.
I am using Windows 7 (64 bit) for OS. I have experience the issue on two different computers.

Cannot add Epson SP 1400 to printer list after installing driver

I have a new Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and I'm having trouble adding it to my G4's printer list. I'm running OS 10.3.9. I installed the driver from the Epson disc but when I get to the Add Printer stage, the printer isn't on the list. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software several times to no avail. I called Epson Support and they walked me through downloading and installing the newest driver, checking that the USB cable was good and connected, printer turned on, etc. Each time after the installation, the 1400 driver isn't in the Library > Preferences > Printers folder. When I open the Printer Setup Utility and click Add, nothing happens. It doesn't even open another window. Epson Support then advised me to call Apple because my OS might be corrupt. Before I try reinstalling the OS, I thought I'd see if someone had a better idea. I see similar problems from other users with Epson printers. Can anyone help?

I am having the same problem but with a newly-purchased Epson R1800. I followed the Epson instructions but when I got to the "Printer Setup Utility" it would not open; it was as if it wasn't even there. I know its not included with Leopard but should definitely be included with Panther since Epson says the R1800 will work with Macs using OSX(10.3x)! I called AppleCare (my expense), gpt a work order number and worked with them for half a day today with no luck. First we tried "disc first aid" but when that didn't work I ended up doing a full reinstall and archive with their assistance. Still no luck! The person assisting me tried but was unable to resolve the issue and asked me to hold on for another expert; I waited on the phone to speak with that person for over two hours and eventually had to hang up after figuring I was placed "on forget" instead of "on hold". When I redialed AppleCare, the recording told me they were closed for the day. Any help would be appreciated - from anyone!
