  • Printing from Airport Extreme for both Mac and PC

I have both a mac and a PC. Both are connected to the internet using the Airport Extreme. Here's my problem. Currently I can only print from the Mac but not the PC. I was told that I would be using the airport extreme I would be able to use one printer for both computers. The printer I am using is an HP Office Jet 6310, which is compatible with both a Mac and a PC. Can anyone help me?

I recently purchased a Canon Pixma MP610 and it is connected to an AE. My Macbook prints fine to it. My PC laptop doesn't. I used to have a Canon Pixma 1600 that printed fine for both computers (I used iFelix's 1004.html steps to install for the PC)
I have tried the Add Printer on the PC using the same 1004.html steps with no luck. I have also used the 1008.html steps to install using the Bonjour Wizard with no luck.
When I say no luck, I mean it sees the printer, it has the proper drivers, but when I print a test page, it can't connect.
I Add a Printer and test and it fails, I then delete the printer and install it a different way. The weird thing is hours later, the test page will be there sitting on my printer. But I don't know why it took so long or which printer install method worked.
I have now installed 4-5 different printers and hit Test Page on all of them. I named each printer something different so in case the Test page comes out, I'll know which printer works.
I'm almost there I feel, but just can't get it.
Any suggestions iFelix or anyone else?

  • 1 out of 2 computers cannot Print via Airport Extreme

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 connected to the USB connector on my Airport Extreme. I have 2 MacBook Pro Computers connected wireless to the Airport Extreme.
On one of thes computers I have no problem printing over the network on the Epson Printer.
On the other computer, when I want to print a document and click on file/Print, I get the usual dialog box and when I click on print, a fleeting popup is on my screen and nothing prints. The printer queu is empty and it says printer ready. When I plug the printer directly into the USB connector on the computer, it prints fine.
Apple support suggested that I make sure I have the latest printer driver, which I downloaded - no change.
I also reswtored the hardware preferences by booting up while holding down CMDoption+RP - no change.
Has anyone had a similar experience and what was the solution.

Did you actually install that driver and create a new printer entry in System Preferences?
This may not fix your problem, but try resetting the printing system: Open the Print & Fax panel of System Preferences, control-click (right-click) on the printer, and select the that entry from the contextual menu.

  • PC not able to print from Airport Extreme (N)

    Hi,
I have a HP printer hooked up on my airport extreme (N) and it cannot print.
I have a mac that connects to it and print no worries.
Here is a quick description of my setup
    Router 192.168.0.1
    Airport 192.168.0.2 (bridged)
    Mac 192.168.0.52
    PC Ethernet 192.168.0.50
    PC wireless 192.168.0.51
The weired part is that from the wireless, I cannot ping the airport but can ping the modem. All this while I am connected to the net via the airport.
I can however ping the airport while connected through ethernet...
    Any idea someone??
    Cheers
    Ben

So, does your HP printer show up in Printer Setup Utility when you browse for it? Or from a Print screen Printer: Bonjour Printers -> yourHPprinter ?

  • Cannot print from airport extreme

I am trying to attach my Epson printer via USB to airport extreme.  printing does not work, cannot see printer as being attached.  have installed Bonjour, turned PC off and on.  no luck.  any suggestions?

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the  AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at thisiFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • Can i plug printer into airport extreme while it is on

Can I plug a usb printer into airport extreme while it is on?

I cannot find airport in finder, don't know how to turn it off.
You will have to pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme to power it down. Wait a few seconds, then plug the cord back in.
Or, you can pulll the plug where the power supply plugs into the wall socket if that is easier.

Ping the IP address of the printer.
If you are doing this from windows, have you installed the airport utility for windows?

  • How do I install an HP C4100 printer to airport extreme?

I can connect my C4100 via USB directly to my laptop, but I don't know how to install it to airport extreme. When I attempt to print using airport extreme, I get a connection failure. Can you provide instructions? (I am a new MAC user).
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
this morning I resolved the printing issue with my HP psc 1217 All in one.
I was almost ready to go into the next computer store to buy a airport compliant device when I found this link for more than 600 printer drivers:
    http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs#Printers
My psc 1217 is not directly listed, but works well with the drivert for the 1210 device.
the photosmart C4100 is also listed so it should work as well.
What you have to do is:
    go to the page: http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs#Printers
    1. download the package: Foomatic-RIP (88k) and install
    2. download the package: espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg (5.4MB) and install
    3. download the package: hpijs-2.7.6.U.dmg and install
go to the printer manager and select the driver from the list you will see a bunch of newly installed printers.- Works well for me and allows me to keep my loved psc1217.
    Cheers,
    Torsten

  • I have a Windows PC with iTunes and an IPod Touch.  I would like to be able to sync music in two areas.  Would the Airport Extreme accomplish this?  And, if so, are there step-by-step instructions somewhere?

I have a Windows PC with iTunes and an iPod Touch. I also have a Verizon MiFi.  I would like to be able to sync music to two locations.  Would the Airport Extreme accomplish this, and if so, are there step-by-step instructions somewhere?

No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

How to connect my iPad, Brother printer, and AirPort Extreme?

  • My iMac (OS 10.7.4) has suddenly stopped printing to my Epson CX4800 printer through Airport Extreme, although it will print if connected via USB. Meanwhile, my MacBook (OS 10.5.8) prints still prints wirelessly. Please help.

May iMac (OS 10.7.4) has suddenly stopped printing to my Epson CX4800 printer through Airport Extreme, though my MacBook (OS 10.5.8) continues to function just fine). The iMac will print if it is connected to the printer directly via USB. The iMac continues to connect to the Internet wirelessly. I've tried resetting the printer and ensuring the driver is up to date, but no joy.
    Any suggestions?

  • Can't print with Airport Extreme

I am having trouble printing with Airport Extreme.
My printer is connected to the AE but every time I try to print I get a printer offline message.
I have tried in the past to print wirelessly but have given up.
I just bought a new MacBook Pro so I thought I would give it another go.
    Thank you.

Not very much to go on here but I'll give it a stab.
Go to the Airport Utility program located in Applications/Utilities folder.
Run this and select "manual setup" for your AE displayed on the left.
Hit the Printers icon on the top. Your shared printer should be displayed here. If it's not, then ensure it's powered on, good usb connection etc.
After this shows a usb printer connected then go to System Preferences>Print & Fax. You'll see printers you have setup before on the left. A green icon usually means they are available. If print doesn't work to the desired printer the best thing to do is remove the previous definitions by highlighting the printer and hitting the "-" icon.
Now hit the "+" sign and define the shared printer. It should be listed in the resulting "add Printer" dialog. Highlight, change any naming info and click "add".
Printer should now be available. I'm assuming a supported printer that have the device drivers loaded on your system.
    That's all I got.

  • How far away can you connect to the internet from Airport Extreme (802.11n)

How far can i take my Laptop away from Airport Extreme (802.11n) and still have internet connection

    According to:
    http://www.apple.com/au/airportexpress/
They claim the Extreme has a 45m range:
"Suppose you want to connect to the Internet with your PowerBook in an area that lies beyond the 45 metre range of your AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station"
Will you be using all N devices? G?, B? or a combination?

  • Can't print from Win2000 to USB printer via Airport Extreme

Background: I have an Epson Stylus Photo 820 printer connected by USB to an Airport Extreme base station. My iMac is connected to the base station via an ethernet cable.
Using Bonjour for Windows 1.0.3, I've set up the Epson printer to print from Win2000 in a virtual machine in VirtualPC 6 which is running in the iMac. The setup process for the printer completed OK, without a hitch. (By the way, I loaded the printer driver from the printer's disk, because the driver for the Epson Stylus Photo 820 isn't one of the drivers selectable from the Bonjour window.)
Problem: When I try to print via the route that I set up using Bonjour, an error message appears, stating:
    - There was an error found when printing the document "mhtml.mid://00000047/" to IP-extreme986254.local.9100"\
(Note: extreme986254 is the name of the network I configured in the base station. Otherwise, the network is working OK. Also, my Win2000 in VPC is connected to the internet OK.)
When I re-try printing, I get the same error message.
When I hook the printer directly to the iMac by USB and then set it up as a printer for Win2000 in that configuration, I have no trouble printing to the printer.
