Two computers

I have asked this questioned before but I have one thing to add. I have two computers and I started using one only for my iphone. I want to put my photos on the second computers but there are differences between the computers..contacts.etc and I don't want a sync with itunes I just want to move photos into iphoto. I remember when I first hooked up the phone that itunes came up and the window basically asked me about letting it sync. Now it syncs without asking. Will I get that prompt if my memory is correct when I hook up the phone to the other computer? Also can I bring back that prompt on the computer that I currently use for my iphone? After reading it againI don't know if I have properly explained it but let me know
Brian

You can import photos from your camera roll to any computer, this does not invole iTunes at all. Your phone will be treated just like any digital camera. Don't launch iTunes & don't sync on the second computer. Launch iPhoto, import the pics, then eject your phone.

  • Can two computers use the same backup??

I restored a seperate Macbook pro from the Time machine backup of MY Macbook. So I have two computers operating from the same backup. Is that recommended??

Yes, it should do. Once you change the name of the computer make sure you reset TM
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
When you start the backup it will create a new sparsebundle.. (like a virtual disk that holds the backup on network drives) and you will be able to check that it is correct because it should be a new full backup.
Then you can do a full backup of one of the machines.. the other machine can continue to use the original backup.

  • Can I have the same library on two computers?

I would like to run iTunes off two computers..work and home with my same library. Can I? How?
    Thank you much

I have seen the same info in a few different threads, but I'm still confused. My daughter has ITunes on an older computer, and wants to back up all the info for a new computer. I have ITunes on my computer, and tried to save her files on a flash drive (1 GB) and here's what happened: When I save either or both the .xml or .itl files, and tried to import them to my itunes, I got folders but no songs. When I saved the ITunes Music folder, that gave me the songs, but its more than 1 GB, so I guess I need more flash drives. [However, I was able to import a song that had been downloaded from a CD onto my daughter's computer while the drive was in place on my computer, but when the drive was gone, so was the song......is that always the case?] Do I need to copy the entire ITunes folder (including the .xml, .itl and Music) to the flash drive, and then copy that to the hard drive on the new computer? Help!

  • Computer with CS6 Died on one of two computers. I need to install and activate CS6 Web Premium on another computer. How can I activate it on new computer?

I have Adobe Creative Suite CS6 installed on two computers. One of the two computers experienced a catastrophic failure. The hard drive is damaged and the computer will not boot. So now I only have access to CS6 on one computer.  I would like to install CS6 on a new computer so that I have two working computers each with an installation of CS6. How do I do this and activate both installations? I tried calling Adobe but the only number I have to troubleshoot problems is for Creative Cloud problems only. Any way to contact a live person at Adobe would be appreciated. Any other solutions would also be appreciated..
    Thank you.

You can contact Adobe support thru chat and they can deal with inaccessible activations to deactivate them.

  • I have an Iphone 4S and two computers, can I sync with both computers? When I click on manual manage it says I have to delete songs from phone

I have two computers, my desktop has much more music on it, but my laptop is 10 times faster.  I originally sync'd my iphone 4s with the desktop to try and keep the hard drive on the laptop from bogging down.  My desktop is on it's way out and I'm trying to sync with the laptop but itunes won't let me.  When I go into my iphone on the computer I check off to manual manage music and when I hit apply it tells me that the iphone can only be sync'd to one computer and requires the contents of the phone being deleted.  Is there anyway around this or am I going to have to delete everything and go through my laptop?

This is from article on device with multiple computers:
iPod shuffle and iPhone are intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle and iPhone like you can with other devices.

  • Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode?

Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode? Grab a drink and let me tell you my story.
I purchased two computers... an iMac 27" i7 3.4 16GB RAM and a Mac mini 2.3 i5 8 GB RAM. Both have Thunderbolt capability and are in fact connected by thunderbolt. I have 3 problems...
    1. My Mac mini WILL NOT recognize any bluetooth keyboard. Let me back up for clarification. I set my iMac up first. No problems there. I then went on to set up my mac mini. A couple of interesting things happened concering bluetooth activity. First thing is that the keypad, which was already paired with my iMac wouldn't be recognized by the mac mini, and yet my bluetooth mouse which was paired with my iMac became paired with my mac mini and thus wouldn't be recognized by my iMac anymore. I had to go to my back room and dig out my other bluetooth mouse so that my iMac would at least recognize my second mouse. So now I have two "mice"presently. One for the mac mini, the other for the iMac. Thankfully I also had a USB keypad for my mac mini. My bluetooth keypad is still paired with my iMac but won't pair with my mac mini, which brings me to another question....
    2. CAN 1 KEYPAD AND 1 MOUSE PAIR WITH TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS SO THAT WHEN I GO INTO TARGET MODE VIA THUNDERBOLT I CAN USE THE SAME KEYPAD AND MOUSE FOR BOTH COMPUTERS? Anybody have some thoughts on that problem?
    3. WHY IN THE WORLD IS MY MOUSE CURSOR DISAPPEARING EVERYTIME I EXIT TARGET MODE VIA PASSWORD AND COMMAND F2. I'm using target mode to access my mac mini. But when I exit target mode to get back into my iMac I'm looking at my iMac screen but I can't see the mouse pointer! I can move the pointer around even though I can't see it. Wierd. And this has apparently been going on for some time with other users for over a year. I am presently completely up to date on Lion updates. Both systems are running 10.7.4. Does anyone have a solution or heard a rumor of a solution coming soon regarding the invisible mouse cursor "curse". I hate having to restart my iMac everytime I exit out of target mode just so I can get my mouse cursor visible again.
Food for thought.... Wouldn't it be really cool to have a target mode capability to see your other computers desktops in seperate window screens on your main display. You then could go back and forth from each window by just double clicking or by certain key commands. You could drag and drop from desktop to desktop. Tell me this is coming soon.
    Thanks

  • Can two computers use same iTunes library on a network drive?

Can two computers use directly (rather than share) the same iTunes library on a network drive?
My media library is on a network drive attached to my Airport Extreme. Right now I share the library with my desktop Mac. I can share fine, but I would like to be able to add, delete, and make other changes in the media library from both computers. The two computers would not be accessing the library at the same time as I am the sole user of both.

I appreciate your input and I think you're right about this being impossible. But just to clarify, you say I can't "have multiple machines accessing the same music files from a shared location." I can have multiple machines accessing the same music files from a shared location--I just can't have them accessing the same music files simultaneously--which may have been what you meant. For my situation, I think it will be less work to just quit iTunes on my server when I want to run it on my client (using Chicken of the VNC). It's not ideal, but it's less time-consuming than periodically syncing three computers.
    Again, thanks for the input.

  • Can two computers share same ITunes library over Airdisk?

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook and a PowerPC G5 and a Drobo (external hard drive) hooked up to my AEBS with only ITunes music stored on it.
I want to be able to edit and browse my ITunes library from both my G5 (which I can already do) and my MacBook (which I can't). When I try to change my ITunes library location from within my MacBook, nothing shows up. It's a blank library, even though I can edit and browse the Drobo (as an Airdisk) through the finder. How can I edit and browse my ITunes library from my Macbook if my G5 is also using the same library? Two more quick points...
    1) I have tried the "sharing" feature and don't want to use it. It doesn't allow editing of my library and won't show cover art.
    2) The above situation happens whether my G5 ITunes is open or closed.
    Thanks everybody for your help.

Yes, two computers can share the same library.
I periodically copy my iTunes library from my Mac Pro to the Mac Mini.
They aren't using a single library. Each computer is using its own copy and you have two sets of library files.  It can certainly be done that way but if between copy sessions you edit a bit of each library then it is a bit of a muddle trying to make sure your versions are synchronized with each other.  For example, ratings are stored only in the .itl file, so if you rate a song on your second computer it will get lost the next time you copy over from your first.

  • Can two computers share one iTunes library?

I am trying to map out a new plan for how we store and play music via iTunes at home. Currently, our music is stored on a windows PC and played via iTunes and an airport express.  I recently bought a new macbook and am considering an airport extreme with the hope that I can store the music on a hard drive attached to the airport extreme and play music from either computer.  Can the two computers share one library? I already have home sharing turned on and can access my library from the macbook, but if possible, I would prefer having the hard drive separate of the desktop.  Any reason this won't work?
    Thanks!

  • Can I have the same itunes on two computers?

I want to have the same info on one computer, mine as i do on my husbands. He doesn't use itunes & sometimes we only take one computer with us. I would like for them to be able to sync together with mine & his laptops.

    Welcome to AD!
Yes, you can do this. It takes a little setting up. Here is a CNET video that I thnk explains it very well:

  • Upgrade to snowleopard and two computers sharing an external HD wireless

    Hi,
I have recently upgraded to SnowLeopard, using a clean install. I therefore have to reinstall my itunes library, which is backed up via time machine.
I now would like to transfer my timemachine backup to my SL itunes library. However, I would like to have the library on my external harddrive, which is attached to my airport extreme.
For now I had transferred the itunes music folder form my timemachine backup to the external HD, and redirected my itunes library to that location.
Although that works fine, I am not sure it was the best thing to do, and that it should be done differently to not get problems later on (i.e. importing new music). Any suggestions?
Second question: We have ordered a second Mac for my partner. Will she be able to access the music folder on the external HD, if the new computer is authorized?
    Thanks for the help

    Noodlez,
Using the external between computers will work the same way. Yes, you will be able to use aliases, just as described.
One thin that has not yet been covered here is the issue of ownership and permissions. On any external, we can choose to have OS X "Ignore ownership on this volume." This is the recommendation that is most frequently made. You can, however, keep ownership and premissions in place in your scenario (two computers), provided your accounts on both machines have the same UID. If your accounts on both machines are the "initial" admin accounts created using the Setup Assistant, then they should both have a ID of "501." In other words, you should be good to go.
As we create each subsequent account in OS X using System Preferences>Accounts, the new account gets an incremental UID, beginning with "502," then "503," etc. If you are using any type of secondary account with some UID other than "501," you will need to reconcile the accounts on the two machines, or use the "Ignore ownership.." option.
Since you will be using this external drive with your portable MBP, you might want to consider one of the smaller form-factor drives. These drives are more expensive, especially when considering cost vs. capacity, but they are certainly more convenient to use with any portable. I have an 80 GB Firelite drive that is bus-powered, so I can carry just it (and it is very small) and a single cable. When needed, I simply plug it into my MBP, it spins up, mounts and shows up on my Desktop, and away I go.

  • Can I share documents between two computers?

    Hello All:
I have two computers (MB Pro and MB Air), an iPad and and iPhone, and now I have converted everything over to iCloud.  My calendars and mail sync across all devices no problem.  But, I want to be able to sync my documents the same way across all devices. Is this possible?
As an example, I want to create a Pages document on my MB Air and save it to iCloud.  Then, I want to be able to open in from my MB Pro without having the iPad in between.
Please tell me this is doable.

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

  • One wireless keyboard with two computers?

This has already been asked probably but there is no specific area for Apple's new wireless keyboard (aluminum).. so here it goes:
I have a desk with a MAC MINI and a monitor on it. (currently wired keyboard, wired mouse)
Planning to buy the wireless keyboard.
I also have an additional spare monitor on my desk so it would be nice if I could just plug that into my MACBOOK and use the wireless keyboard from the Mini to wake it from sleep.
Somehow tell the keyboard (and mouse...) to control the other computer
One keyboard and one mouse on desk -- two computers. Can this be done?
    Greg

I'm in the same boat with you on this one. I have to unpair it with one before it will pair with the other. Too much to fiddle with just to reduce clutter on the desk. I eagerly await someone's creative solution.

  • One mac account, two computers

I have one mac account and two computers. When I get up in the morning, I check my email. When I come to the office I recheck my email.
With my pop account through my ISP, my mail downloads at both places.
With my mac account, once I view it at home, I cannot see it at the office. Is there a way to resolve this issue.
    What am I doing wrong?
    SJ

it's IMAP. then it really should show the same messages on both computers. you can try rebuilding the mobileme inbox (mailbox menu->rebuild). but mobileme is a weird animal and is handled separately from all other accounts in Mail. I don't use mobileme so can't comment further on this, sorry. maybe somebody else who does can chime in or you could try the mobileme forum.
