Two Copies of Flash Player in Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2 ?

Hi,
I use Secunia PSI to validate the currency of my software. It reported Flash player to be down level.
I updated to the new version and Secunia PSI still reported the program to be downlevel.
The flash player test reports WIN 10 0 42 34 installed.
It looks like my Vista Ultimate 64 bit should have copies of flash player at these two locations:
C:\Windows\SysWOW\Macromed\Flash
and
C:\Windows\System32|Macromed\Flash
The folder Macromed doesn't exist at the System32 location
If I need the 32 bit version where do I find it? And, How do I install It?
Thanks
Frank C

Thanks for the reply Mvargas1.
That certainaly is confusing - System 32 is for 64 and WOW 64 is for 32!
Both my Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers seen to be working with Flash Player OK.
I uninstalled and re-installed Flash Player and Secunia no longer finds a down level version.
Thank You
Frank C

  • Have two copies of flash player in add-ons file --- latest and old one --- how to get rid of old one....

In reviewing and updating add-on using add-on manager the manager screen shows two copies of adobe flash player --- 11.9 latest version and and old version 9.0....... How do i get rid of the 9.0 entry. The plug in for 9.0 doesn't show up in my control panel for installed programs.
    Thanks.
Also of what value is the java deployment tool kit.

    (1) You should be able to uncover the location of the other plugin from the '''about:plugins''' page (type or page about:plugins into the address bar and press Enter).
    (2) If it ''doesn't'' show there for some reason, on 32-bit Windows, Firefox generally finds the Flash Player plugin using registry entries that point into the Windows folder:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
The plugin files have the name following the pattern npswf...dll and the most recent should have a name similar to NPSWF32_11_9_900_152.dll. Can you find the old one there and delete it?
    (3) If the obsolete DLL file is not located there, either, it may have been dropped into the Firefox program folder. On 32-bit Windows, you could check for it here:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\plugins
    (4) Still not found? In that case, you might need to look into the Windows registry for the information.

  • I have two versions of Flash Player

I have two versions of Flash Player, ActiveX and Plugin. Do I need both of them?

It is recommended to install both to ensure that Flash will work in as many browsers/third party apps as possible.  Apps like skype, microsoft office, adobe reader that use Flash Player may require the active X flash player.  Most browsers use the normal plugin.

  • Can I copy & install "ipod touch App Pack 4A93" in vista ultimate 64bit

I am to do a clean install of vista ultimate 64bit. This is a move from my present vista Home Premium 32 bit.
All my purchase for for the ipod touch have taken under vista 32bit and details are stored in App Data->Roaming->Apple Computer->iTunes->Mobile Applications->ipod touch App Pack 4A93.
Now when I do a clean install of my latest OS vista ultimate 64bit I will have to wipe clean of the drive and it will erase my "ipod touch App Pack 4A93" aswell. I have saved that in a usb key to copy that back in the correct folder. Now my question is can I copy that back in VISTA 64bit and will it recognise my previous purchases for my ipod touch?
Has anybody know it for sure?
Thanking you in advance for your help and assistance.

    Hello.
I am not sure if the Vista 64 bit will know the folder and App pack or not. But some of the other methods of backing up and getting Apps back you purchased are below. I am not sure about the UK but I know in the USA when you purchase an App you can download it again for free without having to buy it again.

  • Tecra S10-106 - 3G driver for Vista Ultimate 64bit

    Hello,
I am owner of a Toshiba Tecra S10-106. Due to the fact that Vista Ultimate 64bit is much faster as Vista business 32bit, I would like to use Vista ultimate 64bit as operating system, but I can't find the 3G driver for Vista 64bit. All drivers can be downloaded from USA in english and can be used in german, only the 3G driver is missing. Can somebody else send me a download link or tell me where I can find a suitable driver for Vista 66bit?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
To enable the card you will also need to install the 3G RF Power control utility which is here at http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/3grf-en-20090217134719.zip.
That is only half the story as I think you also need to install the Value Added Package here http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-en-20090217134137.zip as this then enables the hotkeys to turn on and off the 3G wireless card.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot install Vista Ultimate 64bits on Mac Pro 2008

    Hello,
I'm trying to install Vista Ultimate 64bits on my new Mac Pro (2008, 2x Quad Core, 3x 500GBHDD, 16 GB Ram), but Vista is unable to find a correct partition type.
The first thing I did was to install a 4th HD, and I constantly received an error 0x80004005 which seems to be too generic.
Then I tried to install it on the 3rd HD (Bay 2 is where my OS X startup disk is located btw) but here no way neither....Windows cannot find a valid partition.....
I tried to partition it manually in MBR...same problem....
    Then with BootCamp assistant...same problem...
I also tried to use Vista Business 64 SP1, same problem...
Do you have any idea ?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hello,
Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately I'm still stuck...
    To resume the situation :
I put a brand new 250GB SATA in the bay 4.
I start Bootcamp Assistant and tell him that I want to use this new disk for Windows and then start Vista x64 install.
Vista sees 2 partitions on this new disk :
    Disk 3 Partition 1 : 200 MB (Primary)
    Disk 3 Partition 2 : 230 GB (Primary)
If I try to use the P2 for the install, I have to format it first. Once formatted, Vista says : This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.
If I try to use the 200 MB (just for fun..), then I also have to format it, but here I receive the error message 0x8000xxxx
    So clearly I'm lost...
Could it be related to the 16 GB RAM ? Too much for Vista ?? I don't believe as this is Vista x64...
    Thanks for your help, ideas..
    Patrick

  • CS4 on Vista Ultimate 64Bit, and XP-Pro 32Bit

I have CS4 Production Premium installed on a drive with XP-Pro 32Bit. Is it OK to point a new installation under Vista Ultimate 64Bit to the same Directory where the first Version is installed under XP-Pro?
I don't want to install the CS4 Suite twice on the same Hard Drive.
    suggestions Please,
    JJ

Thx Bob, I do have however 6 Hard Drives and each Win Version is installed on a different one and so is Adobe CS4 on a different separate Hard-Drive.
Why can I not point both Windows to the same Program folder???
why XP32, because I'm a chicken and want to make sure 64Bit works fine.
    Thank you 4 now,

  • Installing Flash player in Vista 64

I could not get player 10 to install in Vista 64 despite
repeated attempts. It would fail to load a .dll to a specific
directory. After repeated attempts, I realized the directory was
never created by the installer. So, here's the deal: go to
C:/Windows/system32 and manually create the following new sub
directories: /Macromed and then in that directory, /Shockwave 10
    Your finished directory is
    C:/Windows/system32/Macromed/Shockwave 10
Once that is put in place, Player 10 installs in a few
    seconds.

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
Are you trying to open local SWF files?  If so, you need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

  • Installing Flash Player in Vista

I´ve had trouble installing the latest Flash Player in windows vista. Even when it´s worked in the past, the next time I use the computer, it no longer seems to be installed. Could it be my antivirus that blocks this? I use Avira.
When I try to download Adobe flash, I get the following message:
Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.
    Can you help?

Hi, well I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. We'll see what the problem may be. First to answer your question,
the OS means operating system. Which if you are using Windows, then your OS is Vista. It could be XP or the newest one
which is Windows7, Win7 for short. Now if someone is using a Mac, then that would be their OS.
Now your computer and all computers can install and run Flash Player. However there are a few things that can cause a problem, so I'll list a few.
The first thing and most important is that you must be the Administrator of your computer. If this is your computer and you set up the accounts, the first account set up would be the Administrator account. You can look at that as the "Boss"
Now some people will set up accounts for other people but they are not Administrator accounts, they are called User or Limited accounts. They cannot be "Boss":-) There are some other things, but I'm stating it this way, so you can better understand.
When you Install programs, like Flash Player, you have to use the Administrator account to do so.
Don't think you are the only one having problems. We'll find out what it is and fix it.
Since using the Administrator account is the most important, I want you to go down to where the clock it. With your mouse, right click over the time that is showing. Then when the small window opens, left click on Adjust Date/Time.
Then post back and tell me what you saw.
    Thanks,

  • Why are there two versions of flash player on my laptop?

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional which seems to handle both 32 and 64 bit software.  I use Firefox as my default browser and use MSIE only when I must.
A Flash update failed so I checked the uninstall programs list thinking I'll just uninstall and reinstall the latest.
Huh?  I found both "Flash Player 10 Active X" and "Flash Player 11 Plugin 64 bit."  Now I've no clue what failed to upgrade nor why there are two versions.  Why 10 AND 11 and why is one called "Active X" while the other is called "Plugin".
And, to confuse me further, there is also Adobe AIR.  I don't know what or why or how to deal with all of these.  Would somebody kindly explain?
And, how do I figure out what update to which failed?
    frustratedfrequently

The ActiveX Flash Player is used by Internet Explorer and the plug-in Flash Player is used by Firefox.
    Download the following files:
Uninstaller for 64 bit Operating Systems
    Flash Player for Internet Explorer
    Flash Player for other browsers
Close the browser and disconnect from the Internet.  Run the uninstaller and restart Windows.
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Windows Explorer window)
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
    %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ system, has been deleted.
    Run both installers.

  • Flash 8 Pro & Vista Ultimate

I have been seeing some very funny issues runny Flash 8
Professional and Windows Vista Ultimate version.
The system responds very slow, generating Movie Clips I am
now seeing a strange box appear from the center of the screen and
works it way out to the edge before I go into the MovieClip
timeline. This may take as long as a minute. And the Flash
enviornment seems to operate much slower than before.
Has anyone else seen any of these issues. Is Adobe aware of
this. It seems there may be a compatability issue with Windows
Vista. As popular as Flash is as a development tool you would think
that a patch or and update would have been in the works for the
    release of Windows Vista.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciate.

There have been others posting about issues with Vista and
    Flash. I'm sure
that Adobe is working on something. You may want to contact
    Adobe support.

  • Download Flash Player with Vista...

I just received a new computer with Windows Vista. I have
been trying to download the Adobe Flash Player, but have been
unsuccessful. I continue to get this message whenever I try to
download it from the Adobe site.
"Sorry, your platform is not supported."
Does anyone have any insight, or assistance with this
    problem?
    TIA for the help....

    Hi NickFL-
If your new computer already has Adobe Flash Player, stay
with that version. Don't update to or install FP10 yet. There's
some issues- Adobe is working on a patch/fix. If you can't wait,
scroll around in this forum a bit to the thread "Platform Not
Supported" by sunsettt@ for more info from BWolfe, an Adobe guy.
