Two different audio settings

I have finally managed to import tapes that were filmed on two different cameras. One had it's audio set at 16bit and the other at 12bit. Is it possible to convert the captured 12bit footage to 16bit, or can I use them both in a project without effecting audio sync?

You do not want to mix clips with audio bit depths in a sequence.
Export the audio from the 12 bit clip, resample it in Soundtrack Pro, Peak or even Quicktime Pro to 16bit/48khz and bring it back into FCP. Life will be good.

  • Is it possible to add two different audio tracks to a clip which can be selected separately in the final clip?

I'm trying to edit a short clip with two different audio tracks (audio in two different languages). The tracks are not supposed to overlap but rather should be able to be selected individually in the final clip. Do I need special software or is iMovie actually able to accomplish that?

I seriously doubt that this is possible. I think when you get this kind of option on a DVD, the audio and video streams are encoded separately and you run the language of your choice by choosing it from a menu.

  • Two different clip settings on one timeline

    Hello All,
I am combining clips shot with two different cameras on one timeline.
For best quality results of the image, what sequence settings and then export choice should I use? It is a 4 min film that I would like to export as QT or MPEG-4 movie file.
In FCP, both clips look crisp and sharp. I tried various export formats in compressor, but the output always returns the clips from camera 2 de-interlaced (the edges of objects are not smooth but zygzagy).
    Clip settings from camera 1:
    frame size: 1920 x 1080
video rate: 23.98 and some in 29.97
    compressor: Apple ProRes 422
    Pixel Aspect ratio: square
Field dominance: None and some have Upper (Odd)
    Clip settings from camera 2:
    Frame size: 720 X 480
    Video Rate: 29.97
    Compressor: DV/DVC PRO- NTSC
    Pixel Aspect: NTSC- CCIR60
    Field dominance: Lower (Even)
    Thank you for any suggestions,
    Izabela

hazel - if you're making a DVD, then you're going to be using NTSC SD settings - so that's the "send to" compressor - and in compressor you will choose a DVD format, etc.
But if you are creating a digital file to play from a laptop to a projector, I am suggesting you set your frame size to the most common pixel width of most projectors; 1024 x 576 precisely so you do not have to make any adjustments on the projector. You are basically running VGA out (or DVI) into the PC input of the projector and running a quicktime or wmv file and the projector will not have to re-map the image. All of my editing takes place on a mac, and quicktime is my fav but in the corporate world I often have to produce PC friendly files that they take and project with conference type LCD projectors. I do it all the time - this is a good way to go if you are in a similar position.
On larger scale productions, we stay mac based and use high-end projectors and switchers, etc. But when you are handing your edits off to normal corporate meeting attendees they often try to embed them into powerpoint or at least run them in windows media players. If this is the case for you, then I am saying create custom frame of 1024 x 576 if your content is 16:9.

  • Do Blackberry support two different Audio Players ?

    Hi All,
Do BlackBerry support two different players ? Because i want to run 2 audio files simultaneously, one-one on each Audio Player ?
If it is possible then please tell me from which site can i get those Players ?
    Thanks
    Thanks and Regards

I know that Windows 98 had problems doing that depending on the sound card, so I guess it's not such an easy thing to do.
I do not know if the BlackBerry OS allows that, but I don't know why they should provide such a rarely asked feature.

  • Trouble syncing two different audio sources

I have a JVC miniDV camcorder that does not have an external mic jack, but it does record sound in stereo from the internal microphone. I have rigged up my video ipod to record with a stereo lavalliere microphone on the person I am interviewing, then it's transfered to itunes. It records wonderfully, however when I try to mix the two audio sources in imove 06 or in Garageband, the recordings become out of sync in a few seconds. Any suggestions?

I think I resolved the issue. Here's the scoop. Apparently, the setting on my JVC camcorder (GR-D370U) was set to 12 bit.
Also, the MicroMemo XtreameMac ipod recorder has two quality settings to record on Low- 22.05 kHz and High-44.1 kHz.
the files are then saved in WAV format.
I did a one minute test run with the camcorder set at 16 bit and the ipod recorder set at "high." I put them both on imovie 06 and YES it worked! It never went out of sync!
I am not sure I totally understand why the two now match up, because I thought that the camcorder audio records at 48 kHz, but I'm not complaining! Anyway, thanks for everyone's comments. When I can afford to upgrade to a new camcorder with mic jacks, I will. But in the meantime, this will do!

  • Applying Two Different Sharpening Settings to a Photo - LR5

In Photoshop, I would apply 2 Unsharp Masks to a photo with different settings to achieve the look I wanted. Is there a way in Lightroom 5 to achieve this? The only way I can think of is to apply one of the settings, export as jpeg, import, and then apply the other setting. Is there an easier way?

Not really. Lightroom's sharpening is capture sharpening,  like you'd do in Adobe Camera Raw, so it's  for subtle correction of the softness of images. Clarity will produce a sharpening effect too. But without knowing roughly what you're doing with Unsharp Mask, it's hard to say whether you can do the same in LR.

  • Two different video settings Default 120 and 90 minutes

Still trying to learn DVD SP. I'm getting better but here is my situation.
I'm working on a project and I am running out of space. I have 73 videos that total around 90 minutes worth of footage. I also have review questions that go along with this project and they are menu pages to show the questions and answers. I am not even half way through this project and I am at 2.5 gig. I was told to re-encode the remaining videos to the 120 minute setting from compressor. Will I still be able to use the video I encoded at 90 minutes with the new videos encoded at 120 minutes?

I'm far from an expert at this, but I had a similar situation, where my Disc was slightly over, and I was using the 120 min Compressor preset for most chapters, but I took the longest chapter and re-compressed the video with the 150 min preset, and then it fit. The project builds with no problems, so I think it's quite alright as long as it's all m2v (mpeg-2) video.

  • How to automatically switch between two different Wi-Fi settings?

    Hello,
I have to work with two different Wi-Fi (at home and office) one of which uses DHCP and other requires me to manually enter IP address. Right now I have to keep on changing Wi-Fi settings (putting IP addresses when at office and setting to DHCP at home) whenever I go from home to office and then do the reverse when I go from office to home. Can I automate that so I don't have to repeatedly fiddle with settings?
    Using OS X Mavericks 10.9.3.

In System Preferences > Network settings unlock the settings as an admin user and then click the 'Location' popup (normally set to Automatic by default).
Create a new 'location', then tweak the settings & apply them.  Repeat this for the other collection of network settings with another 'location'. The Locations can be switched as needed in the 'Apple menu > Location' (this appears when you have multiple locations.
    Apple explain it at…
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
There are ways to change this automatically, but they are generally quite involved…
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=2005010613401823
I suspect there is an app that will do it if you search around (manual switching seems good enough IMO).

  • Open the same raw file in PS5 with two different White Balance settings

I'm trying to open the same Raw File in PS5 with two different White Balance settings.  One setting "as shot" the other in "daylight", then blend them.  The tutorial I'm watching says to "stack" the images.  The tutorial shows one White Balance setting as the "Background" layer and the other setting as "Layer 1".  I don't know how to do this and the tutorial is not specific.  Can anyone either point me to a step by step instruction or offer some assistance?

Also look at the "Snapshots" feature of Camera Raw itself.  It allows you non-destructively to keep multiple sets of settings for a single raw file.
Learning about it far exceeds the scope of what can be done in this particular forum.  I would recommend this book as essential reading:

  • Sync audio with two different video files to create split screen

I want to sync two different video files to a high quality audio file and create a split screen from there in Final Cut Pro X. Help please?

I'm following along at home, Tom, trying to make sense out of your instructions. (Editorially: This kind of operation is among the reasons I thoroughly loathe FCPX.) This would have been easy in FCP7. Perhaps it's actually the same amount of work (you are describing operations in FCPX I have not bothered to try yet—too scared) but it's far more direct the old way: Find sync points for all three files, stack them up in a timeline, nudge till precisely matched, apply effects.
But I'm glad you're here to help us through this stuff!

  • Why when I burn to disc a playlist in itunes (audio files) it will play in a portable cd player, but won't play in two different auto cd players?

Why when I burn a playlist (audio files) to a cd-rw, it will play in a portable cd player,
but when attempting to play in two different auto cd players it won't play and reads as "error"?

CD-RWs tend to have a lot of problems when used for audio CDs.  I suggest you try the burn again using a CD-R.

This configuration is weird little bit. There is MatchExpression /app1 and MatchExpression /app2 and at the same time two <Location /weblogic> sections. Are you sure you understand what that configuration stands for?
    Try something like this ...

    SetHandler weblogic-handler

    Hello,
Can you please tell me the following?
    1. Does the project have any background audio?
    2. Have you inserted different audio files on different slides or distributed a single audio file on different slides?

  • HT204053 can I purchase from two different stores ie store in New Zealand and Store in Australia and  how do I sync updates on applications?  Do I have to switch ID's in my settings each time or is there an easier way.

can I purchase from two different stores ie store in New Zealand and Store in Australia and  how do I sync updates on applications purchased from either store?  Do I have to switch ID's in my settings each time or is there an easier way.  The trouble is I set up my appleid in new Zealand and so all icloud and itunes and app stores are under New Zealand Apple ID I have since moved to Australia. Im a real beginner at this stuff so bare with me pse.

I'm in the same boat as you -- except that I manage both a school lab (volunteer job) and macs in the enterprise (pay job).  What I think we need is the Education Volume Purchasing Program
    http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/faq.html
Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software.  (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.)  The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance.  I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers.  When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install.  We did!  But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them!

  • Can I configure my network settings to use two different proxy configurations?

At work, I have a proxy server, but away I do not.  I would like the correct proxy settings to load in each case.  Currently, I use two different locations.  This works acceptably, but I have to open my network settings and manually switch locations when my location changes.  I have experimented with creating multiple ethernet ports.  I can create a location with two ethernet ports, but I can't find a way to cause the correct one to activate.  The first port in the search order is loaded even if the proxy is not found.
Please let me know if you can help with this.  Thank you.

I'm not sure of another way to do what you want, but there should be a Location menu in the Apple menu. You don't need to open the network prefs to change locations.
