Howdy everyone! I need some help. First, I consider myself fairly smart when it comes to iOS products, etc. so I've tried to mess with this on my own before reaching out to those that are smarter than me.
First, I upgraded my wife's phone and my phone to iOS 8 last night, seamless process.
We share the same contacts and calendar so we've always have used the same icloud account.
Main reason is so that we can share contacts, calendar, etc. We also share the same itunes account so that when we purchase an app or a song, etc. it's on all our devices without having to purchase it twice.
Now, with the new family sharing this isn't an issue.
My question is, well many questions are, now it's giving me troubles. It thinks my phone is my wife's phone and "find my friends" aren't working. It says "can't share location with yourself".
Also, I'm not opposed to using two different iclouds because we have family sharing now, but it's imperative that we see each others location for safety concerns, contacts and calendar.
I can't figure the best way to set this up to fit our needs.

Hi there, hope someone can help.
My mum upgraded about 18 months ago to an iphone 5 and to set it up we used my Apple ID as it was linked to my dads bank card. Had absolutely no problems with this, everything has maintained separate.
However when my mum decided to update to ios7 (and as she is a novice has not backed her phone up since upgrading) At first it appeared that when she updated she had lost all her contacts, calendars etc but this was restored through iCloud.
Now our phones appear completely linked. Eg when I receive a FaceTime call it goes to my mums phone as well.
So is there any way of splitting our iCloud account without having to lose all our data? Especially as my mum has months worth of business meetings. To make it worse we currently live the other side of the country from each other, so going to the Genius Bar seems rather pointless!

They can, but not at the same time.
If one user left iTunes running, and another user tries to use iTunes from a different Windows user ID, that second user will get an error message. If they really want to use iTunes, they either have to beg the first user to log in and close iTunes, or else they have to restart the computer.
If you are asking the technical reason why, it is something about context switching.

Well if you use the Finder Go menu to Computer, a window opens up double click on your boot drive and then on Users folder, open the other user folder and open Public and drop your files into DropBox
When you do this it will copy them and change the permissions and user assigned to it, so log into the other user and place them into your respective normal folders.
Once you have all your files over and don't need the old user, use System Preferences > Accounts to delete it if you wish, however it's good two Admin accounts on the machine in case something bad happens in the other. Some people for security reasons on use a Standard account for most uses and a emergency Admin account.
One can still do most Admin things in Standard user.

By "game center account", do you mean Apple ID?
If so, you can change it.
1. Tap settings and navigate to iTunes and App Stores
2. Tap "Apple ID" and then tap "Sign Out"
3. Log in with a different ID.

If have separate iCloud accounts and want to keep your all your iCloud data separate, you can create separate user accounts for each of you, then sign into your individual iCloud account within your user account.
If you want to just add both iCloud calendars on your Mac, you can sign into one iCloud account in System Preferences>iCloud, then add the second account in System Preferences>Internet Accounts>iCloud and only check Calendars with this second account.

I would like to add that we are not executing the query simultaneously. But it is always faster for user1(within 10-20 seconds) and slower for user2(takes around 8-10 minutes).

I'm not sure whether I understand your question. If one user changes a record then you would like other users to see those changes. Normally those changes will be visible to other users when they refresh their browser, after the first user has committed changes to the record. I you want to be sure that the same row isn't updated at the same time by to different user, you need to configure some locking (pessimistic locking) - this depends of what technology you use. In EJB3 pessimistic locking is performed by adding a version to every entity object. If you are using ADF, the framework is able to handle either pessimistic or even optimistic locking.
If you want the changed row to be updated in other users browsers without any user interaction by these users, you should take a look at Reverse Ajax (ex. DWR http://ajaxian.com/archives/reverse-ajax-with-dwr) - or Ajax in general. But you will never get a realtime solution, where changes is visible in other users browsers right after each record update.

Usually, if two users try to update the same row at the same time, you want the first to commit to succeed, and when the second commits, they should fail with the error that the row was being concurrently updated. They you may want to show them the new row values and give them the opportunity to merge their values with the new row values...

Installing the drive into the older machine may work, you WILL get a lot of driver errors and the unit may even fail to boot. The other problem is that the drives may not be compatable, the drive in the broken PC is a SATA drive, older PCs had IDE drives with very different connectors.
Your best option is to do as you suggest and obtain a USB caddy and extract the data that way.
Make sure that the caddy you get will support SATA drives (all new ones will).

How do you merge two different users on one computer?

I created a user account on my computer, then when I used Migration Assistant to transfer some of the files off my old computer onto my new MacBook Air it transferred them into a new user account. How do I merge the two different users? They are both me.

You can't "merge" users, you have to transfer the files using intermediate steps to deal with Permissions issues.
You found out first hand that you should use Setup Assistant, rather than Migration Assistant to perform the action that is now causing trouble, and time.
1) Log in to the A account.
2) Locate all the files you want to move. Move them to /Users/A/Public. Note: Don't move any System-created top-level folders, like Documents, Pictures, Music, Movies, etc. Just move their contents.
3) Log in to the B account.
4) Navigate with Finder to /Users/A/Public. Drag the files to the Desktop. This will make new copies of them that will have the correct permissions for User B.
5) Put the new copies of the files away in the appropriate places in B's home folder.
6) Delete the A user account if it is no longer needed.
Doing it this way will ensure that there are no permissions headaches with the files after they are moved.
Also, make sure that you BACK UP all of your data before starting.

I can use icloud.com in IE10 but the odd thing is that I believe iCloud in not compliant with IE10 and needs to run in Compatibility mode. But for some reason IE10 see's it as compliant. You can go into the Compatibility mode through Compatibility view settings and manually addin icloud.com. As for icloud in my opinion its really forgot about the rest of the world that does not use a Mac, iPhone or iPad. I cannot get the settings to work with icloud with any Android device, or using Chrome browser even though selecting display desktop site gets you a slightly broken icloud.com on Chrome browser in Android. Although many things dont work right. Same goes for IE10 as I have expieienced with crating a email message. It appears as though the backspace after the first line of a message does not work and I could not reposition cursor either. I am so glad I don't have to use icloud for much because I doubt I could deal with it as it is now. I guess another option is to try Chrome on your PC or Firefox?
Chrome should work as it is a WebKit based browser as is Safari. If iCloud works with Safari it should work with Chrome. But anymore their is no guarantee's.
