Two Droid 2 Global phones - Flaky since software update

I have two Droid 2 Global phones which were purchased at the same time.  Ever since the last software update, which I believe was the Gingerbread update, these phones have been acting flaky in several ways with various features just shutting down and only a restart of the phone able to make them work again.  Both phones have been having the exact same problems so that leads me to believe it is likely software related.
1) It quits ringing...even with ringing volume turned all the way up, incoming calls just don't ring. Same with text messages.  Restarting phone fixes the problem.
2) The camera will take a picture, but when you go to look at it in the gallery, it is just a blank image.  Unless you go look at the gallery, you have no way of knowing the picture didn't take.  Once again, restarting the phone fixes this.
3)  I have similar issues with the bluetooth.  I sync it up to my car stereo, but sometimes it just won't sync until I restart the phone.
With the age of these phones, I suspect there are no more software updates on the way from Verizon.  Can anyone confirm that?  Unfortunately, the last software update also prevented <Deleted per the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.>  Any suggestions on how to get these phones some sort of software update or useful again?  A phone that doesn't ring isn't much use.

I know how troubling these difficulties can be especially when it's happening to two lines of service. I extensively researched this trouble in our database as well as Motorola's and was unable to find this as any known trouble. The gingerbread update was the last release for the Droid 2 and no expected changes as of now.
Are you using the ringtones and notifications that are preloaded in the phone or the ones you have obtained elsewhere? If you haven't tried it yet, please use a notification tone and ringtone that is from the device itself. Let me know if this makes the device work correctly.
The trouble with camera and bluetooth don't have troubleshooting steps other than doing a hard reset of the device. This will completely wipe out the device but items like contacts and media can be backed up. To complete the reset go to http://bit.ly/rqKDhh and follow the steps for the preferred method. Please keep us posted as we may need to file an investigation with Motorola to review this.

    My Droid Charge downloaded the last software update and ever since it started bugging out. I called Verizon and they sent me a replacement, which bugged out worse than the first one. I went to call Verizon but the phone was acting up so bad that it froze to the point where I would do a battery pull and it still didn't work. I had to walk to the Verizon store because my phone wouldn't make calls or text for over 7 hours. They ordered me a third phone which has the same problems. All new SIM cards every time and everything. These are just some of the issues I've been having across all three phones. PLEASE HELP!
    1) When entering text (text message, email, etc.), the T9 will give me suggestions, but there is no text being entered into the text box and I have to restart the phone for it to work again.
    2) The phone force closes applications that I haven't even opened. I will restart the phone or do a battery pull and as soon as I unlock the phone, I am greeted by at least two apps that have been force closed. (I put the phone in Safe Mode to see if it helps. It actually force closed applications more frequently)
    3) I will try to unlock the phone and the screen will lock up and will need a battery pull to fix it.
    4) If I stay in the same place and only wake the phone up from sleep mode without actually running any applications, the phone will go from 4G to 3G to not even being connected, all within about an hour.
    5) Since the update, I have had HUGE data usage spikes in my bill. I went from an average of 2 gigs a month to 9 gigs of data the month after the update and 7.5 the month after.
    6) I will go into my contacts to make a call and when I click on the number of the contact I would like to call, the phone is unresponsive and doesn't call.
    7) The phone will randomly log me out of my email accounts and I miss important emails for work. This only recently started happening.
    8) The phone alerts me of several missed calls without ever actually ringing. (I know I just didn't hear it because the phone is usually on the desk in front of me and I'll wake it up to check the time and next thing I know, I have 6 missed calls)
    9) If the phone actually does start ringing from an incoming phone call, when I go to answer the call, the phone freezes a lot and won't actually answer the call, but it continues ringing.

    Since the posting, I received a third replacement for my phone. So far it is the best working phone out of all of them. It occasionally freezes up and I have to do a battery pull to get it stable again. I'm just quite unhappy because I didn't really even want the phone to begin with. Verizon called me and said they wanted to give me the early upgrade last year so I was like fine, but it has been a nightmare. Then I am approved for an early upgrade by two different managers from call centers and am told that they need to call me back to do the order, but I never get called back. When I call back, I get diverted and the new person on the phone ends up just wanting to send me a replacement Droid Charge. Then I finally get someone who will give me the upgrade, but then am surprised to find out that by upgrading, I will no longer be able to keep my current contract.
    I have been a Verizon customer for one hell of a long time and have never had an issue until this past month, and am exhausted from having to make so many calls to Verizon. If nothing is resolved with my account by the end of my contract period, I am going to someone else.

    Deerhunter1, I can understand how frustrating that is.  I just recently experienced that exact same issue!  It was because the video file was too large for me to send either by MMS (picture/video message), or by email.  You may be able to send to another device via Bluetooth, giving your device gives you that option.  You can also hard wire sync the file to your computer using your USB cable.  The subject line says your device is a droid global phone.  Below I am including a link for transferring picture & video files from a Droid 2 Global phone to a computer.  The link will actually be for transferring music files, however, the concept is the same.

  • Phone freezing and almost unusable since software update - Help!

    I am hoping someone can help. I have a Blackberry Q10 (work phone) and yesterday i downloaded the software update. I didnt notice any issues but when it rebooted it just froze on the home screen (i can see the time /wallpaper etc but cannot make any swipe gestures to move from this screen) I have tried re-booting/taking the battery out etc. I left the battery out last night and this morning plugged the phone into my laptop- that did occasionally free up the swipe function and i can occasionally get into BBM and Text (which are both working) but I can no longer view my email (i can see them in the hub but not read the actual message) and i cannot access my contacts or make or receive any calls. The phone still keeps freezing on the home page (it seems to free up momentarily if i connect to my laptop). the battery is draining very fast also. I am not very tech savvy at all, can anyone help me? (my phone provider is BT) Thanks N

  • IPhone 5 really slow, freezing since software update

    I have been beyond disapponted with the iphone 5 thus far. When i initially got it it was very slow, especially using the keyboard in messaging, and did this weird thing where it would just randomly dim and then I could not the screen to fully illuminate again unless i completely restarted the phone. Then, after the first software update, I expected the problems to be solved but it only got worse!! My phone freezes daily, sometimes more, the apps are constantly just shutting down and am still having the keyboard slowness as well other werid malfunctions such as my text conversations from two different people merging into one.
    Is there anything I can do??? I am a loyal apple customer and it really makes me sad to have to deal with this!

    My husband and I both upgraded out iPhone 5s early today and we are not having any trouble. I thought it was an improvement in speed, much faster than it was. I'm sorry that's no help for you.

  • Since software update, BB shows up as 2 devices

    Syncing with the Desktop Manager had been working great for me (contacts and calendar). Today I plugged in to do a sync and was prompted to install a software update.  Now when I plug in the BB, it shows up as two devices. When I click "sync," I get a caution that tells me it needs to update hundreds of items in the calendar and also in the contacts.  I know I have only altered a few contacts since the last sync and have added maybe a dozen new events in the calendar, so this can't be right.
    I canceled the sync and all of my info seems to be intact on my BB and my computer (even though it's outdated info), but now I'm afraid to sync. Is there any way to delete the software upgrade, since everything was working great until now? (I see that there are known issues with the software update--I wish they had warned me of this when it prompted to me to update the software.)
    (I had this happen with a Palm device years ago. It took me forever to get it to sync with my mac, then a software upgrade prevented me from ever syncing again. It became a paperweight. I finally gave it away. So I am really gun shy.)

    As much as VLC have denied that it is their problem ( [https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=116729 see here] ), the truth is that it is. As others have mentioned above, the file that firefox reads still has 2.1.3.0 as the file version.
    To fix this issue do the following:
    # go to [http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ this website] and download and install the program.
    # go to the vlc folder in your program files and find npvlc.dll.
    # right click and select "open using resource hacker".
    # inside resource hacker, go to version info and anywhere where it says 2.1.3.0, change it to 2.1.5.0.
    # Click compile script and then go file>save as. You will have to save the file in a different location and then move it into the VLC folder manually.
    # Open firefox and goto help>troubleshooting information. Click the show folder button.
    # find pluginreg.dat and delete it.
    # restart firefox.
    If you do what it says above, your problem should be solved. What this process does is it firstly changes the file version of the VLC file to 2.1.5.0 and then forces firefox to re-scan for plugins. If you go to the plugins menu in the addons manager, it should be listed as VLC Web Plugin 2.1.5.0.
    Please fell free to uninstall resource hacker after this if you want.

  • Trouble with phone ever since Denim update on Lumi...

    Ever since my phone did the latest update, it has a mind of it's own.  Cortana pops up for no reason, it freezes, and sometimes it acts like someone else is in control of my phone, opening apps that I didn't even touch, sliding the screen up and down.  I am really getting frustrated with it.  I even did a factory reset on my phone and it is still doing the same things, if not worse.  Sometimes I have restart my phone 5-6 times in a row to get it to act 'normal' for at least a few minutes. Has anyone else been having these problems?

    This problem has been reported numerous times on multiple sites and there is no resolution that I am aware of. Have tried it all. Lumia recovery, reduce sensitivity, disable background apps, disable glance screen etc etc. There are a fair number of users stating that this started after update so either we are all extremely unlucky to have hardware faults occur at the same point as an update or this is a software issue. Seems to me that there are too many people reporting this at point of software update for it to be a coincidence. Also its so random, sometimes get a few hours with no issues and others freezes several times an hour. Often putting the phone to stand by and back fixes the issue so not sure how this could be a problem with the digitizer. I love windows phone OS but this is the first phone I've had in a long long time to have problems and it has seriously put me off buying another keep hoping an update will be released to fix this but nobody seems to have any idea what is causing this so not very hopeful on that. Again there are far too many reports of this for it to be considered the users fault and yet they want us to pay to send it away. I've taken very good care of my phone and it doesn't have a mark on it so if this is a hardware issue it must be a design flaw. Totally gutted and my phone is barely useable at times.

    Are you T-Mobile USA? If so, their current OS version is 10.1.0.2006, but might be different in other countries.

Keeps freezing. Get black screens. Tried all the usual tired old suggestions, have you turned it off then on again, rescans of channels, cancel and re-entry of recordings etc to no avail. I read on one forum entry software updates on the way. Do you know when?

    If you've still only got 720p and not 1080i as an option on your box, then you're not on the latest middleware version.
    Even if you were, the bits I've highlighted in bold remain for some of us

  • Phone Screwy Since Last Update

    Don't know if anyone else has had this happen since the update a week ago Tuesday.
    When I first undock the phone in the morning, I will slide my finger over the face to open and it will take about a minute for it to do anything.
    During the day, when I make calls and then hit the button to hang-up, it will register that I hit the button, but then not hang-up. Sometimes it take :30 seconds to react, other times three minutes.
    I call tech support and they tell me to hit "reset all settings" under the "general" button. I ask if I'll lose anything and they say no. I do it and lose all my voice mail, all my favorites, half the my contacts and part of my recents.
    I'm back on the phone waiting on tech support just like I was with the other cell phones in my life. I thought this one was different. I heard initially how they'd help you and replace a defective phone. Now, they want you to go through three degrees of Hades before they'll put you through another ring of torture to get your phone replaced.
    Not a happy experience so far...

  • Can't access my purchased tv shows since software update

    Since the latest software update I cannot access purchased tv programs.  I have the original Apple TV.  Purchased programs are recognised but when I tell them to "Play" nothing happens. I have checked parental controls and it is off.  Any ideas ?
