  • How do I set up two email address on the same account?

Using Mail in Mac OS X 10.6.2 and moving to Mac for the first time, I have been unable to set up two email addresses on the same account. Entering them, separated by commas, as advised in the Help does not seem to work. I have tried making them both the same password and have tried separating the passwords with a comma but no luck. Unable to set up another account for the second address because it correctly tells me that the account already exists.
    Is there a way?
    Thanks for any help.

After a comprehensive trial and error session, using a new Guest Account each time to be sure of no contamination from the previous trial, I have finally cracked it!
The problem was logging on to the outgoing server.
Setting up the first account was fairly straightforward but if I allow Mail to do it automatically I am unable to send because Mail has defaulted to 'Authentication Required' when my server does not require it. Setting the account manually without authentication enables send and receive to work OK.
If i try to set up the second account automatically, Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'No Authentication', Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the full email address as the User Name together with password, Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address together with password, Mail crashes.
However, if I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address as User Name and no password, Mail accepts it and sets up the account.
At this point the account receives mail but cannot send it.
If I go into the Mail preferences and try to edit the outgoing server details, Mail will not accept no Authentication.
I eventually found that if I uncheck the 'Always Use This Server' box, all account then use the server on the first account, which is correctly set up.
Now I have my four email accounts all able send and receive.
One little concern remains. In Outlook Express I could look at the properties of a received email and see what address it had come from, together with many other details. I haven't found out yet whether this can be done in Mail. I just wonder whether if I reply to some email, it will appear to have come from a different address from the one it was sent to.
Thanks again for all the inputs.

  • Two Email Addresses, One Account

Hi Folks, I have two email addresses with Outlook.com, one is my personal address and the other is a send and receive custom domain work address both set up in the one outlook account on my iphone.
I can send and receive from both addresses, the problem I have is when replying to a mail sent to my custom address the recipient sees it as coming from my  personal address, there isn't a way to choose which address I'm sending from.
I'm aware that two separate accounts would fix this but unfortunately Outlook.com doesn't support custom domain names as primary accounts.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Two Email Addresses, only check one?

    Hey, everyone.
Let's see if I can explain my crazy situation:
I just bought the 32 gb 3GS, upgraded from the 16gb 3G. Sweet phone, much faster! The following problem didn't exist on my 3G phone, but it does with this one.
    The Setup:
    1. I have two email addresses, one Gmail and one with my work domain.
    2. I forward my work email address to my Gmail account so I only have to log into gmail to reply to both personal and work emails.
    3. I had it set up on my old iPhone so that it only checked my Gmail account, but let me send with my work email if I chose to do so....which is most of the time.
    4. Now, for whatever reason, I can add the work email account, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it NOT to check my work inbox, but still let me send from that email address....
See what I'm saying? Anyone know how to make this happen? I'd hate to have to check and delete two sets of identical emails on my phone.
    Thanks!

I am using the first method, so I know it works.
Click Settings / Mail / Add Account / Other / Add Mail Account.
Put your name (like John Doe).
Put your email address (your work address, not GMail)
Put your GMail password in the password field.
Put a description (like Work Email)
    Click Save.
The next screen lets you choose POP or IMAP. Leave the Name, Address, and Description fields be. Scroll down to Incoming Mail Server. Type
    imap.gmail.com
In the user name field, type in your GMAIL user ID.
Password should already be populated with what you entered before.
Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server. Type
    smtp.gmail.com
Type your GMAIL user ID in the User Name field. Type in your GMAIL password.
Voila. Also, make sure you have validated your work email ID with Google. You do this under your GMail settings, Accounts. Otherwise it won't let you send emails through Google using your work address as a reply to.
I just tried it again to make sure of the steps and it worked. Give it another try.

  • Two email addresses on iCloud

I have two email addresses on iCloud...*****@icloud.com and *****@me.com.  How do I migrate the ones from me.com over to iCloud.com?

It sounds like you have set up iCloud on both of your Apple IDs. So, you do have two iCloud accounts. And since Apple IDs cannot be merged, they will remain separate and independent of one another. I would suggest that you decide which one you want to use and copy or save your documents to that iCloud account.
Purchases you have made via iTunes will remain with the Apple ID that they were purchased under. However, you can change the password on the ID you are going to mothball to be the same as the one you are going to actively use, and that way, when you are asked for a password to update an app, you won't have to be concerned with which Apple ID is displaying the password request.
Also, make sure that your computer is authorized for both Apple IDs so that iTunes purchases will be accessible regardless of which ID you have signed onto iTunes.
    Cheers,

  • Hi, I use two email addresses within one account with gmx.  I created one account with the first email address now. How do I add the second one to this account? Now it looks like this. One account was opened with address A. I receive in this account email

Hi, I use two email addresses within one account with gmx.
I created one account with the first email address now. How do I add the second one to this account?
    Now it looks like this.
One account was opened with address A.
I receive in this account emails for address A and B.
But I can only write and answer with address A.

    Hi Rudegar,
    Sorry for my late reply.
It s not the amount of accounts I'm struggling with.
When I create now for both email addresses one account, then I receive the same emails two times.
That is not what I want.
Because on gmx the two email addresses have the same inbox and outbox.
E.g. I can login to my gmx account either with email A or B. It doesn't matter.
Now I want to have the same on my ipad.
One account with both email addresses.

  • I have had two email addresses

I have had two email addresses(currant gmail.com) & me.com now deleted, I have an update for MyJournal app through me.com and when I attempt to update a message comes up saying this account has been frozen because of security. With other apps I have deleted them then reinstated the app with gmail.com but I don't won't to do that as it states that all data will be lost and I have 3 years of diary data on it. Advice please

It sounds like you have multiple apple ID's, one of which has been disabled for security purposes. If that is the case in-order to fix that you will need to go to expresslane.apple.com and submit an inqury to be contacted by someone from iTunes, normally they will respond VIA email within 24 hours.
As far as the apple ID is concerned, as long as you have the password, or can answer the security questions that you initially set up the account with, you can manage it at appleid.apple.com
You can rename it and associate it with an email account that you are currently using and have access to.
    Good luck..

  • When I try and send mail from one of two email addresses, it asks me for a password to a google e-mail account I no longer have, so now I can't send any mail

I have x6 gmail accounts set up on my Thunderbird pop mail. When ever I try and send ANY email from 2 of these accounts ([email protected] & [email protected]) a window pops up and says the following:
Enter your password for [email protected] on smtp.googlemail.com
I haven't had that email address for a couple years, and I've tried every password I've ever used with no luck.
I eventually have to hit cancel, the a new error box pops up that says the following:
    Sending of message failed.
An error occurred sending mail: Could not get password for smtp.googlemail.com. The message was not sent.
PLEASE PLEASE help, I need these two address to work. Every other address (x4) through Thunerbird works.
Thank you for your time and support.

Are you trying to send an email from "[email protected]" this address??

  • I am changing ISPs and will be dropping two email addresses I use as AppleID's.  Can I keep them as AppleID's and use a rescue e-mail address from a new ISP?  What are the downsides if I have an iCloud address as an alias under one of those addresses?

I am about to change internet service providers and will be dropping two e-mail addresses that I use as Apple ID’s.  One is used solely for iTunes and the other is used for iCloud, mail, calendars, etc.  The second has two iCloud email address as aliases.  I will be going to a new ISP and will establish an e-mail address from that ISP as a backup in case the iCloud addresses are not available.
It has been suggested to me that I should continue to use the e-mail addresses from the old ISP as my Apple ID’s.  And that I use the e-mail address from the new ISP as a rescue e-mail address for those Apple ID’s to get any communications relating to the ID’s. That seems like a simple and straight-forward way of handling the change and would minimize the chance of complications from changing the Apple ID’s.  But, are there any downsides to handling the change in this way?  If so, what are they?

You can continue to use them as Apple ID's, change the rescue address (as you know)
You can use your iCloud address, but it won't be an alias, it's a full email address.

  • Two email addresses, same account

We have a MobileMe me.com account, let's call it [email protected] My wife also has a iCloud account [email protected] When I log into iCloud with [email protected], it also includes the iCloud.com email address, with no option for removal. I want the two accounts to be totally separate. I am not sure how they got linked together.  This iCloud.com  is the iCloud account that is configured in the iCloud Settings on her mac.   It comes down to Apple thinking both accounts are the same. Help! I have searched the internet but cannot find this issue answered anywhere.

Are you sure that it's [email protected] which is appearing in your account? Your 'MobileMe' account is now an iCloud account so as well as [email protected] you also have [email protected] - they are essentially the same address.
If [email protected] is really turning up on your account this shouldn't be possible, and you will have to take it up with Support. To avoid being charged tell them it's a security issue. This Apple Help page provides contact information for various countries for security problems with an Apple ID:

  • Two email addresses accessed by Mail

Is it possible to set up two email accounts in “Mail?” I would like to have a separate email address for my business but still access it through Mail in my dock.
    Thanks for any input.

If you are already accessing an email account with the Mail.app, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and select the + button at the bottom of the Accounts window to create a new account.
Select IMAP for the account type and the settings should be as follows:
For the Account Description, enter whatever you prefer. The entry for the Account Description will be the name of the account in the Accounts window and the name for the accounts' mailboxes in the mailboxes drawer.
Email Address: The email address for this AOL account.
Full Name: The name you want shown in the message header along with the email address when a message is received from this account.
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com
User Name: The portion of the email address in front of the @ sign only.
    Password: The account's password.
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.aol.com
Server Port: When creating the account and SMTP server, 25 will be entered automatically for the Server Port. After the account is created, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below. Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
    Authentication: Password.
User Name: The portion of the email address in front of the @ sign only.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.
