Two Files, Same Links, Different Blues

So this is bizarre.
I sent logo files to my client in all different formats (ai, eps, pdf, etc).
They assembled the files onto one PDF, then commented on how different the blues looked across the formats, especially the PNG when compared to the AI Pantone Color Version.
I had them send me their PDF and sure enough, all of the blues look different.
Here's what's strange:
Both versions link to the same source files.
When I opened their PDF in Illustrator, I made sure both versions are in CMYK Color Mode.
I'm using Illustrator CC.
They're using Illustrator 5.1
I've attached screenshots from both PDFs of the letter 'a' from both files versions to show the difference.
The first one is theirs, the second, more vibrant one is mine, and both link to the same .ai file which uses Pantone color.
Here's what's crazier... When I copy/paste a logo from their file into mine, their blues of the pasted logo change to match mine--and vice versa.
Thoughts?

J,
I believe you can sort it out by carefully going through the Color Mode, Color Management settings, and actual RGB values, of each (original) document, including the creation history of PNGs (and any other derived formats).
Some clues may be drawn from some of the other threads.
You may (also) File>Place the PDF in an unmanaged RGB document, and then:
1) Create two fill/nostroke rectangles;
2) Select each rectangle and with the Eyedropper Tool (Shift)Click each of the two differently coloured letters, then look at the RGB values, and compare those to the desired ones.

  • Already create hyperlink in MSWord file. same link how can i import in indesign?

    Dear All,
Already create hyperlink in MSWord file. same link how can i import in indesign?

I'm not having an issue as shown below:

  • Need to setup Premiere CS6 sequence for two file types with different field orders

I have a client who has shot video for me using two cameras, one camera was set to progressive, and the other to interlaced upper field first. I need to use both file types in the edit and have been struggling to set up the sequence to get the best look for the end product, a DVD. I have several videos to do for her that were all shot in the same way, so I need a solution!
I would appreciate help figuring out how to set up this work flow from beginning to end.
Should I convert one of the files from the beginning so they match field orders before going into a sequence? Or do I just need to do some adjusting of the files once they are in the sequence? Is it just as simple as changing the transcode settings to favor the upper field first? I'm definitely having issues once the video is transcoded in Encore and you can see a lot of jagged edges and lines especially during movement. My client isn't happy and I've tried several workarounds, but to no avail.
Here are the two file types I have:
    File extension: .MOV
    H.264, 1920x1080, Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 48000 Hz, stereo
    FPS 29.97
    No Fields: Progressive Scan
File extension: .MTS (my Mac finder can't read these files, but they are read in Premiere)
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - 6 channels
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
    Upper Field First
I am using Adobe Premiere CS 6.0.2
    Encore 6.0.1
    Media Encoder 6.0.2.81
I am running it on an iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011
with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Processor  3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Graphics  AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB
I've just been setting the sequence to match the .MOV files since they look much better than the .MTS files. I've done the opposite as well, setting the sequence to match the .MTS files and it doesn't seem to help. I've also changed the field order of the files once they are in the sequence by changing the field options and have tried converting the .MTS files in the Media Encoder, but nothing I've done has worked.
Any help would be so appreciated! The client I have is a photographer, so she wasn't aware of this issue when she first shot these videos. So I have 10 videos with these issues I need to get back to her, hopefully issue free! I'm struggling as an editor because my last job I was using FCP and was working with videographers who knew what they were doing, so I've never faced such problems before. Plus I'm new to the Adobe software. Not a good combination. Please forgive me if I didn't give all the information you need. I will happily respond with whatever more information you may need to help me out!

I wonder if you could do your edit ignoring any visual issues of the interlaced footage but keeping the different sources separate ( checkerboard edit Vid 1/ Vid 2 )
Lock it down then export the interlaced part of the edit as a Digital Intermediate.
Maybe Export the other source as well to the same codec. DI
Bring them back together in a New Sequence. You wold have to deal with the black spacing.

  • Same setting for two file adapter but different output

    Hi ,
I am having two receiver file adapter for two differrent scenario with same settings but different structure.
I want the output of the file for both the scenario should be displayed line by line but it is working fine for one scenario.File type, file encoding and FCC are same in both the interface except the fieldsnames in FCC.
When i check both the output file i found that the scenario which is working fine  having OA OD hexadecimal value at the end of line of each line.and the second scenario which is giving the output in single line is having only OA.
    waitng for Valueable inputs!!!
    Thanks

    Hi Santosh,
    Kindly elaborate your question.
it would be helpful if you post the content conversion parameters of the erroneous file channel.

  • Two files, same pantone color...Onscreen looks like two different colors?

Recently we have been having this issue at work, We have a line of packaging that uses the same pantone color (375 C). When we go to create a new document and use that same pantone the color onscreen looks more saturated then its predecessor. The only think I can think of is that I've upgrade to the pantone plus system but have since uninstalled and reinstalled the old color books. Both documents are in CMYK color space and both use the same ICC profile. Any thoughts? I know it wont appear this way when printed but we make a lot of PDFs for approvals and the colors come out more saturated in the PDF as well. See sample image below. Thanks for your help!

Try copying a sample of 375C from  Document A into document B. If the Doc A swatch magically changes color to match the doc B swatch the you have a document with either a modified or old color that uses the same EXACT SAME name. This happens when someone modifies the CMYK values PANTONE 375 C does not change the name of the color. What Illustrator does is the AUTOMATICALLY changes the color mode of Doc A swatch from CMYK to Book color, when you paste an item having the same swatch name. You do not  even get a about to merge color warning. For that reason if I ever tweak a color to get a better laser print, I change the name (eg: PANTONE 375C (Mod)
Though I feel one of Wade's 2 suggestions may be right, this also can cause color difference.

  • Same file, same date - different file!

I've just begun to use Pages with iCloud.
Looks like a bad mistake ...
I have my iCloud window open in Safari showing a file with the time stamp 17.16. I have my iPad open with the time stamp 17.16. The document was edited on the ipad at 17.16, but the file in Pages on my iMac (presumably taken from iCloud which was taken from the iPad) is different.
The iPad file is not showing 'updating', everything is connected to the internet.
is there any way to 'force' a file on my iPad to update? (Like 'Force Quit' ... )
I would email it to myself and drop it into Pages but since starting iCloud I haven't been able to send email from my iPad, only receive.
    Any help gratefully received
    Stuart

I should add at this stage that I am VERY nervous about deleting files to re-install as I presume that if I delete a file from my iPad it will also delete on every other device.
Unless it is a local version, apparently - how do you tell if it's a local version or an iCloud version?
Additionally, I downloaded the file again from iCloud (which said 17.16 update time) and when I opened it in the Downloads folder it was in fact a 9.05am version!
    What's going on?

  • Two iPhones, same iTunes, different Apple ID. Can they both sync some elements?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to a new iPhone, passing my old 4 to my wife. She created a different AppleID and manages her phone with a separate laptop/iTunes. She'd love to be able to sync photos and music with my iTunes library (specific iTunes playlist and subsets of my Aperture library). Is this possible, considering that:
I'd prefer not to create another user on my Mac to do that, and
Only music and photos are to be shared; apps, contacts and everything else must stay separated
I'm under the impression that I can add my wife's iPhone to the "manageable" iOS devices on my Mac and set the sync items as to exclude contacts, apps, calendars and whatever else I don't want to sync, but I'd love to be sure of that before trying anything that could wipe my wife's stuff and replace it with mine...
    Thanks in advance,
    Edoardo

An iOS device can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. So if you try to sync it with yours the content will be wiped. So, doing what you want to do really isn't possible.

  • Need help for theRequirment:File2File Transfer by validating two file names

    Dear All,
Kindly help me for the below requirement.
    Requirement:
PI should pick two files from the FTP folder and will drop it to another FTP folder with out any mapping just pass through.these two files are having different Extensions(EX: .XML and .TXT) and its related to one another(two files data are related) so PI only transfer if both files are present else if there is only one file PI should not transfer the files.
Note:File names are same for both the files with different extension(Ex: ABC_<timestamp>.XML and ABC_<timestamp>.TXT)
    thanks and Regards,
    Manikandan

    Hi Manikandan,
One more option to do this without BPM:
Try using the additional files option in the Sender File Channel.
If source File name is MyFile.xml
    In additional files
    File List: MyFile.txt
    Parameters:
    MyFile.txt.namePart  -  ".xml"=".txt"
    MyFile.txt.optional  -  NO
    MyFile.txt.type  -  text/plain
By having this setting done. The files will be picked only when both the files are placed and when both of them have the file names as "MyFile"

  • Can two users work on different files of the same project?

Sorry if this has been asked already...but can two users work
on different files of the same project? How would that work? Would
    it work something like this?
    1. From RoboHelp 7, user A checks out the entire project.
    2. User A checks in the files they are not working with.
    3. User B checks out the project but can only 'edit' the
files that have been checked in by user A.
Is this how the source control works?

That's the basic idea. User A doesn't actually have to check
out the whole project, though. RSC will selectively check out only
the files that are actually getting changed. Both writers will have
a complete copy of the project on their local machines, but the
files are read-only until they are literally checked out, which is
on an as-needed basis unless the writer explicitly checks them out.

  • Two separate versions of the same file corrupted in different ways...

I was working on a Photoshop CS4 file last night that was created in CS4 and has only been opened on this machine in CS4. I saved the file and closed Photoshop. When I open the file today, all my layers are gone, flattened into one Background layer, and the image looks like colored TV static. On top of that, the separate, older version of this file with a different name (created earlier in the week on the same machine in the same CS4) will not open at all - I get the error message, "Could not complete your request because the file is empty" and the file size has mysteriously shrunk to 76 KB from 20+ MB. What happened?! I'm guessing these files are corrupted beyond recovery, but why and how did this happen? Has anyone had this or a similar problem? I want to know how to prevent this from happening in the future. Please help! Thank you. =)

    Thanks for the suggestion, Chris.
Same issue, new question - don't ask me why I did this, but while both Photoshop and the now corrupted file were open, I changed the name of the folder containing the file, then continued to save the open version of the file without first closing it and reopening it from the newly renamed folder. Could this have caused both files in that folder to become corrupted in different ways? The other file that gives me the "file is empty" error was not open at the time, but it was in that folder. I'm thinking maybe by changing the path to the files while Photoshop was running, that could have triggered this. ?? I have 3 1TB internal drives raided to read as 1 drive, so I'm really hoping that one of these disks is not dying on me as you suggested. I was also backing up an external drive using BackBlaze when this all occurred - any possible connection? How can I find out if one of my three raided drives (and which one) might be going bad?
    Thanks!!

  • Linking Questions cs5: Linking within the Same file, Sharing links, file size bloat

I have to make print cards for my job. Print cards being a 1 page version of the Larger package layout that the place I work manufactures. On this print card is a section for customer info on top, and the print representation on the bottom. What I've been doing is using two files. The first file is the full-scale art on one artboard, and the customer info on the second artboard, but both within one file.
On the second file, I combine the two. I still use two artboard because it's a front and back print-off. The front page (1st art board, 2nd file), is the customer info at the top (linked from the 2 art board, 1st file) and the full art shrunk to fit below (also linked).  the back page (2nd art board, 2nd file) is the individual elements of the artwork, zoomed in for easier viewing. For the second page, I use masked links from the fullsize art, sized appropriately. The reason it's important that they all use links, is so if I update the art, it will update the print cards as well.
I've been trying to stream-line this process. This works ok, but the numerous links bloat the file size, and I have to email these to customers. I've started using "Flatten Transparency" on all my Print cards (2nd file) and saving it as a separate .pdf. This cuts out the links, but then all of my masked images are hiding the whole original file behind their mask. So then I started manually cropping each individual masked area, which helps, but once I've gone through this whole process, I don't think I've saved any of the time my template was supposed to save.
    file://localhost/Users/troubleinthemaking/Desktop/PRINT%20MINI%20EXAMPLE.pdf
      My questions are these:
Is there any way to link to elements within the same file? Like from a different artboard?
I've successfully 'Placed' an artboard from the same file, back into that file (but a different artboard), but this creates a never-ending Save/Update loop. I'd like a better way to do this.
Is there a way to have all instances of a linked file, draw from the same place? i.e. When you update a single link, all instances of that Link would update. plus this would, in theory, cut down on the file size.
Is there any way to automatically have every masked link crop itself after using the flatten transparency command?
Even if I had to select them first. I haven't had any luck selecting them all and then using the pathfinder crop tool. I've had to do each one individually.
I know this last one can't really be answered without seeing everything on my machine. I don't even know what info I'd need to give...
WHY MY FILE SIZE SO BIG!
    Thanks ahead of time.
    -Jefferson

    Jefferson:
There's a few things you can do to make your files smaller, such as using the Action "Delete All Unused Panel Items" which will removed all unused Symbols, Graphic Styles, Brushes and Swatches from your Illustrator files. Those little items add up to bloating a file.
You also need to examine the images that you place into your Illustrator file. Any unnecessary layers or channels? Can the files be flattened before being placed in Illustrator? You can always keep a "working" Photoshop file of all that extra goobledeegook and then flatten the file and do a "Save As" and place that in the Illustrator file. And that could be a Photoshop EPS saved with a TIFF Preview and JPEG Encoding (Maximum Quality), which will save some MBs.
But, you should never sacrifice file size for quality. If these files are going to print, you should be using an FTP program to transfer the files and not email them. Email should not be used for files over 5 MB. If all you want to do is send the customer a Low Resolution PDF Proof for approval via Email, that's fine and dandy, but send the final large size files to the Printer via FTP.

  • How to check wwheter two files are the same?

    Hi,
I need to check wheter two files are the same. Their names and paths may be different. How to do that? Do u have any links / examples?
Important notice: Files used in the application will be big (ie 1, 2gb)

Comparing a hash, if you have to calculate it each
time, is bound to be slower than a byte by byte, or
    character by character compare.
This kind of comparison is used mostly in things like
content management systems, when a new file of data
is checked to see if it's identical to a file already
entered, hash values being stored for each file
    already in the system.
And comparing the hashes can only prove the files are
different, if the hashes are equal that doesn't
absolutely guarantee that the files are the same.
Normally you'd confirm a matching hash by actually
comparing file content.Depends on how good your hash is..but in general...yes. I was only saying that it's faster if you're always maintaining a has of the file.

  • Two CS4's produce different published .swf from the same fileset

Hello, I'm a novice at Flash, but an experienced troubleshooter, I've spent days on this intriguing problem:
*Can two CS4's produce different published .swf from the same fileset?
I have a flash suite written by a young man in China.
When I test the .swf file in the suite it works fine.
However I need to make some minor redesigns so I need to change the .fla file - but before I do I found that when I publish a new .swf from the .fla file (with all the necessary action scripts/xml etc in the right place) it doesn't produce the same outcome. Instead the navigation (next page, items per page etc) is missing.
When he does the same thing (I trust his integrity) he gets the new .swf with the navigation in tact.
You can see the two outcomes at the web address below (mock data).
There are no code changes, no library changes that I can find.
So I thought maybe there is something about different settings or 'environments' that can affect the outcome?
You can see at   >> http://www.zaphmann.com/source/source.html << the correct navigation.
Then merely republishing the source.fla (and a rename of .swf) NOW The navigation is gone.  >>>> http://www.zaphmann.com/source/sourcetoFromFLAswf.html <<<<<
    Any ideas???
Thank you - a free book to anyone who has the answer.

    Hello Ned, I
definitely have the very latest version, I will ask Mr. Chen to confirm his version. If his version were, say, 6 months old could that be of any significance?
The software suite appears to have authored produced a while ago as it uses actionscript 2, or maybe he just prefers that.
Basically the suite worked until he added a custom 'deeplink' (basically id tags in a few AS) and after which it still works at his end (compiled with CS3 or CS4), but not when I do likewise from the fla.
I have trawled through the AS code changes and see no errors or changes that would affect the navigation portion of the code which remains the same, so I hypothesized that there may some settings that could affect the publishing.
Young Mr. Chen in China seems to be a bright young man but not sto be so keen on deep troubleshooting...
Any ideas you have, however wild are welcomed, I can also send source files if that would help.

  • Linking button from one flash file to a different flash file

    Hi All,
Wondering if anyone knows how to link buttons in one flash
file to open a specific scene of an entirely different flash file?
If it isn't possible to choose a specific scene, is there a way to
just open a flash file...in the same browser window, but not within
the flash file...if that makes sense?
I'm putting this on a website, so additionally, I will need
to know which file to link it to, the swf, html, or fla.
    Thanks!!

I would advise against using scenes for your website. You
would need to create a separate html which would load the second
swf file within the same browser window.
This is how you call for it:
    on(release){
    getURL("
    http://www.sitelocation.com/secondswf.html");
