Two Finger Scrolling using track pad doesn't work.

You know how you can drag 2 fingers down the track pad to sroll down a page. Well, it doesn't work for me using Vista through Boot Camp. I tried the update, but it wouldn't install.
Is this as good as it gets?
Hypnoguy

Hypnoguy,
Sorry I haven't used boot camp for a long time my memory is a little fuzzy. Also note I used it with XP and not Vista, but don't use it at the moment anymore.
Here is a list of Supported Macs for 64-bit windows: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846
As per your trackpad problems after the drives have been installed I would try to install the update again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3336
Here are the boot camp updates and also may help with errors:
64 bit: http://support.apple.com/downloads/BootCamp_Update_2_1_for_Windows_Vista64
32 bit: http://support.apple.com/downloads/BootCamp_Update_2_1_for_Windows_Vista32
Also I would look in the boot camp system tray tool to see if there are settings related to your function keys.
Sorry I don't know of a function key that changes the startup volume, I only know of the select from the boot camp system tray (Windows)/Startup disk preference pane (Mac) or the hold option during startup. More on that here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/11892.html
A good place to find a lot of Bootcamp support would be here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Hope that helps,
Weston

  • MBP running windows 7 in bootcamp.  Magic Track Pad doesn't work properly

    Hi,
The trackpad on my MBP works great with my Win7 OS. I can use to fingers to click and scroll etc. For some reason when I use the Magic Track Pad it doesn't allow me to interact the same way. I've tried installing some 3rd party apps that are meant to make Windows work with the device on NON apple hardware but that hasn't helped. Anyone have any clues?
    Best,
    Jay

When you connect it & open it WMP click on the SYNC tab of the program. Choose the files you want to sync to the computer then hit SYNC . The files should transfer to the computer. (check your settings as to where you want the files to go.)

  • Clicking on track pad doesn't work?

Clicking on my track pad only works if it's in the lower left corner. Tap to click function works ok, but it's very frustrating when I try to double-click something. I'm on a less than one-year-old MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.7. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Know of a solution?

I am having the same issue with my trackpad. I cannot double click. Just started today and my macbook is only about two months old. What gives?

  • I just updated to Firefox 6.0.2 and now the two finger scrolling on my touchpad does not work.

It is an ELAN Smartpad 2.2, with up to date drivers.

Type '''about:config''' in the address bar and hit Enter key. When you see a warning, click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' button
-> In the '''Filter bar''', type '''trackpoint'''
    * right-click '''ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled''' preference, click '''Modify''' and change the value from '''-1''' to '''1'''
    * click OK
    -> Close '''about:config''' tab
    * Close Firefox (click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Exit''')
Now you should be able to scroll using Trackpoint and Middle Mouse button on the Trackpad again.
Check and tell if its working.

  • All of a sudden my track pad doesn't work properly and mouse pointer is jumping all over my screen

Help, it feels like someone else is controlling my mouse.  This just started happening.  My trackpad doesn't work or works sporadically.  While typing the pointer is scrolling all over my screen.  This is really annoying.

Great tip! Your suggestion to check for a swollen battery in my laptop is working for me. You should get credit for solving the problem.
On my MacBook Pro (2008), my cursor was out-of-control for the past couple of days, like it was having a sissy-fit. In TextEdit, for example, I would enter text, but the text would no longer be entered smoothly, in sync with my typing. Nor would the text appear where I wanted it go. Sometimes, the text I was typing, say in the last line of the document, would jump and insert itself somewhere above in the document. Sometimes, entire lines of text, or entire paragraphs, would get highlighted and then immediately deleted upon my hitting the next keystroke. Not an acceptable way to work!
I tested this odd behavior in Leopard and in Snow Leopard and in Lion, which are all partitioned on my laptop's hard drive. Since I could not isolate the problem to any one version of the Mac OS, I began to fear that my motherboard had gotten compromised and went defective on me.
Your tip proved that it was merely a swollen battery that was the cause of my problems. I was able to confirm this by removing the original battery (now 4 years old) and placing it on a hard surface. It rocked like a see-saw, ever so slightly, about 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch at the far sides of the rocking motion. When I looked at that original, swollen battery from the side, I got further indication that your insight was likely correct, for I could spy the area where the swelling was occurring: it was at an edge in the middle of the battery, and it was separating from the base by about 1/16-inch, just enough to make me wonder why the "springiness" had suddenly disappeared from the central portion of my trackpad.
That change in the touch and the lack of aural feedback (i.e. no "click" sound or feeling) when I depressed the trackpad in the central section, was my first clue that something was wrong. The crazy cursor behavior on-screen was further indication that something was amiss.
I type this reply under A/C power, as the replacement battery, which I had purchased from Other World Computing back in September 2011 for just such an eventuality, is now charging. At first, I was worried that the replacement battery was a dud, for it was stuck on 0% for nearly 10-15 minutes before it began to take a charge. But, 30 minutes of paience has paid off: the replacement battery is now at 15% and getting more powerful by the minute.

  • Track pad doesn't work

I initially had my windows XP up and running. I sent my computer to apple to fix something.
When it came back and I boot windows the trackpad won't work and even if I try to uninstall and reinstall it doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

If you are anywhere near an Apple Store, your best bet is to make an appointment with the genius bar. It's free, even if your warranty is expired.
In under a minute the genius will know whether the trackpad is working correctly, and in two minutes the genius will have the settings and anything else straightened out and will be demonstrating how to pinch and twist your pictures into the shape you want.
This is one of those problems that does not lend itself to a forum solution.

  • Track pad doesn't work well with photoshop

    Hi,
While using photoshop home, sometimes I don't conect my tablet, as far as I'm good using the trackpad. Lately it doesn't work anymore as a brush, samp, eraser or whatever uses a brush size.
Reboot everything is the only way it works but not for long, after some operations in photoshop back to the problem...
    Any help?,
    Thanks

    Nobody did offer any solution

  • Two finger scroll problem

Hello. Today i bought a MacBok Pro and i've got a problem with the gestures. Every single gesture is working fine (one, three, four fingers and two finger click) EXCEPT the two finger scroll. I just doesn't work at all. Can somebody help?

I have exactly the same problem on my Macbook. Even the other two-finger gestures like turning pictures around in iPhoto or zooming in are working - it´s ONLY the scrolling that doesn´t work EVER. This is a pity, as it´s the most useful gesture imho.
Anyone else having problems or any solutions in sight?
Thank you very much in advance.
Oh, and if it is useful for the solution: I´m also having the click&responsiveness trackpad problems that are causing so much trouble these days.

  • Windows 8 two-finger-scrolling not working properly

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.
Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard.
Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture.
Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling.   very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method.   My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.
