Two finger tap not activating right-cick menu Windows 8.1

Hi
I was a happy Ideapad U310 touch user until I upgraded to Windows 8.1. I've been facing a couple of issues since then. One of them releates to my touchpad. Previously, I could bring up the pop up menu/right click menu by quickly tapping two fingers. After getting Win 8.1 that seems to have stopped working. I hape checked the Synaptics setting but that hasn't solved the problem. Any ideas?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I was having the same problem buddy, i posted here in this forum but no one replied so i went ahead and searched more bout this issue
Turns out its a bug with Windows 8.1 itself as many other laptops from other manufacturers are also facing the same problem
And as of now the only solution is to use a third party program to emulate two finger right click
https://code.google.com/p/two-finger-scroll/downloads/list
download the latest version and configure it to use no scrolling and two fingers for right click, let it start with windows on startup and its should work fine

  • Upgraded to Lion, two finger tapping not as smooth as SL

Just upgraded to Lion today on my 13'' late 2010 MBP (2.4GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD and nVidia graphics). So far I'm adoring Lion, however tapping with two fingers is not as smooth as it was in Snow Leopard. When I tap, it takes a while to open a window. I've applied all the latest updates.
Is there a way to fix this?
    TIA!

    Softwater,
Well, I booted back into SL, and as I mentioned, I did have filesharing enabled.  So I added the whole disc as shared and re-booted back into Lion.
Still no luck. I get exactly the same permissions error and cannot open any files.  This seems crazy that from Lion I cannot open files on other bootable partitions.
I added myself as a RW permission on the disc via Get info and still cannot see the files. This is very strange behaviour.  According to get info on the disc, I have full read/write access and on the file itself.
I can see all the files on non-bootable partions.

  • Flex 2 14 - Two finger tap for Right-Click not working (Two finger double tap works)

I bought my Flex 2 14 a couple of weeks back.
I want to enable Two-finger tap (not click) for right click.. Unfortunately it does not work.
Weirdly, Two-finger DOUBLE tap works for right click..
    How do I get a two-finger tap?
I tried the regitry hacks from here (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Yoga-Flex-Laptops-and/Yoga-2-Pro-Two-finger-tap-does-not-work/td-p/1406... but no luck yet.
    Any help please.

I have found a solution but I am still annoyed I had to do my own tech work to get a common touch figure enabled. (By the way there's many threads out there on Synpatics drivers and touchpads not working right for many people on different machines.)
Anyway, indeed the fastest fix is to modify a registry entry for Synaptics. Just open  the regisitry edit software on the Yoga and then go through the folders: HKEY LOCAL / Software / Synaptics / SynTP / Win8
In "2FingerTapAction" all you need is to change the value from "0" to "2" - and presto two-finger tap is now a right click!
Much easier than going through a driver install / uninstall routine or any other of the suggestions I've found out there.
I wish Lenovo had this set up as a default. It's really a great gesture and it's quiet and fast.

  • Two finger tap right click not working

Is anyone having a problem with two-finger tap to right click?  Two-finger tap to right click was working fine for a while, but it suddenly stopped on my Yoga 13.
I reinstalled the touchpad drivers, and it worked for a few days, then it stopped again.  Two-finger click still works fine.  So does one-finger tap to left click.
    Strange....
    Solved!

  • Lenovo Flex 2 14#: Two-finger-tap (right click) not working on windows 10

On my new Lenovo Flex 2 (AMD A8) i have upgraded to win 10 but i cant get the two-finger-tap to work. It dint work in 8.1 either. I can scroll in browser with two fingers. In the synaptics software the feature is activated but i doesent work. I have read some of the other threads about fixing the problem in win 8.1 but the registry files doesent have the same structure/names on my win 10. What to do?

I am having the same problem... It's very irritating to have to two finger click all the time.
    Is there a solution?

  • Set Firefox to open a new tab without selecting it from the context menu by two-finger tapping in Lion

In Snow Leopard, I had somehow set the two finger tap to open a new tab either from a link on a page or from my bookmarks bar, without having to select "Open a new tab" from the context menu. I recently upgraded to Lion and I can't remember how I set this feature-- or is it just not available anymore?

There is a plugin for this and you can configure it as shown in the attached screen to open all links from the web page in a new tab by just clicking on it and not having to follow the native steps

  • Windows 8.1 Two Finger Tap Right Click

So, for anyone who has upgraded to 8.1 and suddenly lost their two finger tap right click functionality, I highly suggest that you use this: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-enable-two-finger-tap-for-right-click-in-windows/.  It restores the functionality of the trackpad and does not interfere with the synaptics clickpad.  Just make sure that if your synaptics two finger scroll still works, you turn OFF that feature in the downloaded app.
Until HP figures out how to make their software compatible with 8.1 (which, if they're listening, SHOULD NOT BE AT ALL DIFFICULT NEARLY TWO WEEKS AFTER LAUNCH), this is an acceptable workaround.  Also, I'm sure many of you have already figured this out, but HP customer service is atrocious and definitely not worth your time.  If you ask them how to solve this, they'll tell you to restore your PC to factory settings and completely reinstall Windows 8.1.
I hope this helps anyone else who's experiencing this problem, as I only decided to post it after spending several hours fruitlessly searching for a solution.

On updating from windows 8 to windows 8.1, my Synaptics touch-pad lost the two finger right-click gesture.
Even after frustatingly trying to install-uninstall new driver software, problem didn't solve.
Finally I find the solution in registry entry:-
Go to Start > Run and type Regedit in Windows 7, or in Windows 8 type Regedit at the start screen.
    Once open navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Synaptics > SynTP > TouchpadPS2
There, right click and select New, DWORD Value. Name the value '2FingerTapAction'. Once created, double click it and set the Value Data to '2'.
If '2FingerTapAction' is already there, double click it and set the Value Data to '2'.
On certain systems the registry folder where the "2FingerTapAction" key is located may be named differently. e.g. On Envy x2 it is called "TouchPadRMIHID2c".
Then log off and log on, and it should all work. Easy.
I hope the problem is resolved.

  • Yoga 3 11 - Right-click doesn't always work / how to enable two finger tap?

    Hi,
I'm based in Sydney, Australia now. Please can you post the contact details, when I go through the warranty page, it gives me local service centres which aren't much help. Thanks

Right click not working might be a hardware issue, or even a driver problem that you might want to invove support since you're under warranty.   BUT, if you want two finger tap?  I don't know why, but this very useful feature seems to have been removed on most win 8/8.1 machines.  Even those that had the feature enabled in win7 lost it upgrading to 8/8.1. I researched the issue and found that the feature can often be restored via the registry.  I tried to get this feature back on my Yoga 3 14 via the registry with no success, though it worked like a charm on my HP Slim Quad.  The only option I found was using a 6yr old program called 2 finger scroll <which lenovo won't let me post a link for!!>   In settings  tapping tab set 2 fingers to right click.  Disable everythig else.  Particularly avoid the 1+1 finger option as it will drive you mad while typing.  Don't forget to ckick the "starrt with windws" check box too. Maybe with win10, someone will step up and fix this glaring omission?  Many complain about its loss in win8.x and have been for years.   MS, Elan, Synaptics and the laptop mfg's seem to turn a deaf ear.  This feature has worked for years and continues to work on Macs.  It's one of the reasons Mac trackpads are considered vastly superior to most windows machines.

  • Magic Mouse - Two Finger Swipe not working in Finder + iTunes

    Hello,
since OSX 10.8 I realized that in Finder & iTunes the backward/forward navigation has stopped working with Magic Mouse (two-finger-swipe gesture).
I have already read a lot of forums as well as apple-discussions and didn't find a solution apart from MagicPrefs or any other 3rd-party-app.
Is that a bug or just not meant to work? Does anybody know why Apple stopped providing this - very useful - gesture?
Thank you for your time and have a perfect day
    Sascha

    Pual_31 suggested good advise...
I would also recommend if that does not work, to reboot and run "repair permissions" from Disk Utilities.
Also might suggest downloading and trying MagicPrefs, it's a free program for the Magic Mouse and it really works great. May help with your problem, may not but I'd give it a try.

  • Trackpad Problems: Two-Finger Sometimes Not Working

This is a recent problem I've been having that's just surfaced only this week.
Every now and then, as I'm two-finger scrolling, the trackpad will register only one finger, consequently moving the mouse only. Settings are alright, otherwise two-finger scrolling wouldn't be working at all. It works, but sometimes it does not.

Sometimes recalcitrant trackpads can be corrected by a very through cleaning of the trackpad.  See if that is the cure.
This could be it. I am using a protector film, but it's the same sheet that I've been using since 2009. The film could be deterioating. I will remove it and check. I hope the trackpad is not susceptible to staining over time...
If not, open the MBP and see if the battery has swollen and is interfering with the trackpad.
Good to know, though not likely not the case as the battery was recently changed.

  • T430s Two finger scroll not working reliably

    Hi!
Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes the skin of my fingers to get two finger scroll working.
The system update does not see a reason to update the drivers.
Is there more effective software for the synaptic touchpad to do two finger scroll?

    Hi, theking2
System Update is a very useful tool, but I find it best to always check for driver updates manually, just in case the updater missed something. The latest version of the Syanptics driver can be found here and may help your issue.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Two finger scroll not working in Microsoft Word for Mac

Just finished installing Yosemite today and haven't had any real issues...however, I've noticed that two-finger scrolling doesn't work in Microsoft Word for mac. It works fine in many other applications (including other Microsoft apps--Excel & PowerPoint), but not Word.
I've looked for any scrolling options that may be "unchecked" in the preferences, but haven't found any.

I'm having the same issue. However, I have restarted and it still won't work. This is extremely frustrating as I have the latest updates and everything but it doesn't work and I keep forgetting every time I try to scroll.
I'm also having the issue of whenever my Mac goes to sleep or if I turn it off, the log in screen says there are updates necessary. I feel like this is a bug because I've updated my computer like 20 times in the past few days...

  • Windows 8.1 two finger gestures not working

After I updated to windows 8.1 from  windows 8 yesterday, none of my two finger gestures are working. (e.g. two finger scroll, two finger click, or zoom) I tried updating my Synaptics driver and nothing has changed. I still can not use any of my two finger gestures. One finger scrolling is working properly but the two finger gestures are my favorite. All my gestures worked fine until I updated to windows 8.1...
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
    Please help!

    Hello HelpMe0,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand two-finger prompts are not working since upgrading to Windows 8.1. I will do my best to help, but first, I require the computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your product number
    Thanks!

  • Windows 8 two-finger-scrolling not working properly

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.
Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard.
Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture.
Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling.   very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method.   My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.
