Two Telnet read VI's running at the same time interfere with each other

I have a situation where multiple tests must test multiple UUT’s on the same computer. To send commands to and get responses from the UUT's I use a telnet session. The telnet read VI uses a semaphore. Therefore when two separate top level VI's are running, each calling the Telnet read VI, if one Top Level VI is using the Telnet Read VI the other Top Level VI waits for the first one to complete before it can use the Telnet Read VI. This VI is setup for reentrant execution but because of the semaphore it cannot truly be used as a reentrant function. This causes severe problems when trying to communicate with two different telnet sessions simultaneously.
In the past I have avoided this problem by compiling everything into an executable. Then each Top Level program runs completely independently with no interdependences. However, now I am implementing Teststand and I need to call the same Top Level VI's. I need to be able to get information into them and back out of them from Teststand. This means that I can no longer compile them into stand alone executables. I did compile each top level VI into its own Share DLL thinking that then each top level program would have its own library to call upon. This did not work. Even though both top level programs are compiled into their own DLL there is still interdependency when calling the telnet read VI. One program waits for the other to finish reading from its telnet connection before it can read from its own telnet connection. Since I have to continuously read from the telnet connection, sometimes for up to half and hour, the tests do not function simultaneously. How can I get around this? Is there a solution?

PS The Telnet Read VI I am refering to came with the Internet Toolset package. Attached is a copy of the VI I use to communicat with the UUT's.

Sorry about the confusion.
The file I attached is in the hierarchy of two separate top-level VI's. The telnet connect is opened once and closed once in each top-level program. The ref number is then passed into and out of the VI that I attached. I use this VI to repeatedly send commands via telnet and wait for the appropriate responses. The telnet read VI is given a read line separator and reads from the telnet connection until it matches the read line separator with a text string read back from the telnet connection. If not match is found it times out and creates an error.
I am not sure how to provide an example of the overall scheme since the problem occurs when both top level VI's are compiled each into their own shared DLLs. Those DLLs are then call from Teststand and at some points they are both running at the same time on the same computer connected to two different UUT's.
The question I have is why does one DLL share functions with the other? When one DLL is using the telnet read VI the other DLL waits for the first one to finish with it before it can it use the telnet read VI. If they were both compiled separately each into their own DLL shouldn't they each have their own set of functions to call upon instead of having to share? I know that if the two top-level VI's are not compiled they cannot both execute the same sub-VI at the same time. The only way to get around this is to set the execution property on the sub-VI to reentrant.
I actually fixed the problem by setting the VI I attached and the Telnet Buffered Read.VI (called by Telnet Read.vi) execution properties to reentrant. However, I am still concerned about two separate DLLs sharing sub-VIs. Why does it do this?

Two Genres at the same time

Is it possible to list one song with two genres? THis would be solve a problem I am having. I just got a new computer and transferred my old iTunes library, with lots of songs where I had changed the genres. But when I plugged in my iPod, iTunes duplicated all those songs with their original genres, stored somewhere that I didn't even know about. As a result, I have duplicates of most of my songs. Before I bother to try and delete them, I have to figure out a solution so it doesn't happen again. help

I do get what you're saying. But I found that I can look at all my duplicates in iTunes and the only ones that are 'wrong' are the ones where I changed the genres. Plus, I don't understand how iTunes 'found' the original genre settings. For example, a Richie Havens song was listed as hip-hop. So I changed the genre to rock. Did this several years ago. But when I transferred the library from my old computer to the new iMac, now I have two copies of the same song, one with the hiphop genre label and the other with the genre I assigned it. I fyou have "all day" event that are taking up the entire day, check the event. All day event only appear at the top of the time line (and just below the week view). I suspect they are not actually set up as all day, but have specific time frames assigned.
In teh screen shot below, "Sample" is an all day event; NFL: CAR@SF is not.

I want to have my laptop next to my desktop. And while I render, export or whatever my newly shot documentary on the laptop I want to work with a music video project on my desktop. Then when the render is finished I render the music video and go back to the laptop and continue on the documentary. Or maybe I just work 5 minutes on the desktop music video, then come up with something brilliant for the project on the laptop and switch. Back and forth. Will that kind of activity result in any kind of limitation, usage-wise?

Yes in case of Creative cloud subscription you are allowed to install and use the cc apps in any two machines.
Even if you want you care allowed to use these apps together in both the machines.

Two profile two thunderbird at the same time with same user account

I would use two Thunderbird at the same time for two different profiles with the same user accounts.
I using linux OS.
I was thinking of using:
# thunderbird -P profile1 &
# thunderbird -P profile2 &
But when launching the second command nothing happens.
Only brings in the foreground thundirbird already started.
If possible use this configuration now or in the nex future?

As a rule thunderbird only runs one instance of a profile.
However, there are a couple of options you could try.
You could use an addon to esily switch profiles:

It does say: 'Multiple instances is intended for debugging, so use it at your own risk'.
One method would be to use: Start > Run
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -no-remote -P profilename
there is a space before '-no'
and also before '-P'
followed by a space and the profile name
You could create a shortcut/icon to run each separate profile.

I seem to be running two versions of firefox at the same time help!

I seem to be running an older version and a new version of firefox at the same time. I run the new version from startup (it forgets previous tabs from last session) and this sadly does not let me use back and forward arrow buttons so its a bit useless. Strangely when I pop an email window up, the older version of firefox appears with the last few tabs I had browsed.
disabling plugins stops browser starting in new version and back and forward arrows work ok.

You can install them both but there are a few steps to take.
When you install Firefox 4 use the custom installation option and choose a different location to install Firefox.
In order to use both versions, you need to create a new profile for Firefox 4 (Firefox stores user data in the profile). Using the same profile with different versions can cause problems. Once you create a new profile you can copy certain data such as bookmarks and passwords between them. You can also use Firefox Sync to keep the profiles synchronized. Finally, you will need to set up shortcuts to launch the correct profile for each version.

Can I access two websites at the same time?

Does Dreamweaver have the ability to open two websites at the same time?
I basically have a CMS hosted on one server, that connects to my clients sites on other servers. I want to be able to open files on one server and edit them and also edit files on another server at the same time.
If this isn't available in Dreamweaver, then I think it should be. I often need to copy code from one page in a site to another page in different site. To have the ability to have two windows open, each connected to a different website server would be invaluable to me. By having separate windows, each can have its own server connection. I don't know how easy that would be, but I'd love it!

You can only connect to one site at a time. And you need to edit files locally, save & then upload to the remote server. AFAIK, no single FTP app is capable of connecting to more than one server at a time. You might be able to do what you want with DW open and an additional 3rd party FTP client like Filezilla, each connecting to different servers.

One way to start them is with an Invoke Node and the Run method. You can then stop them with the Set Control Value [Variant] method. When you use the Set Control Value [Variant], you just have to specify the name of the front panel control that stops the while loop. Older versions of LabVIEW only had the Set Control Value method in which you had to use the flatten to string function to pass the Type Descriptor and Flattened Data.

How to make this two things at the same time ?

When my mouse is on a area, I need :
- to show a object (a rectangle inserted with the toolbar)
- to show a caption
I think it's not possible to do this two things at the same time when I use the rollover functions (Rollover caption or Rollover Image).
I would like to use a button, but the button works only if I click it, and not when I just pass my mouse on it.
Someone have an Idea?
I can't use Javascript.

Rick is correct. You can use the Rollover Slidelet's rollover area to trigger an Advanced Action. You'll need to create this Advanced Action with two clauses. One to SHOW the caption, and the other to SHOW the rectangle.
Your alternative to the rollover slidelet is to use an Event Handler widget attached to the object that the mouse should roll over.
The Event Handler will detect when the mouse is over the object and trigger its own Success criteria. You can then use the widget's ON Success event to trigger the Advanced Action as mentioned above.

Singletons running on two servers at the same time

Hello,
          we faced one interesting situation with our application, running on clustered BEA Weblogic 9.2. We implemented some Singletons (ie. Singleton Service in a Weblogic cluster) and they are running fine. Most of the time.
          Common scenarios: cluster is started -> the singletons run on one server; the server is brought down -> the singletons are started on the second server.
          However, we had recently two situations where the Singletons started on both servers! Here they are:
          1) We use Database Migration Basis and we have a dedicated table for Weblogic to capture current state of the singletons. Due to the fact that database (Oracle RAC) was partially available one of the Managed Server could not get the lease and probably assumed that no singleton is running, therefore started the singletons locally.
          2) Network outage: we had several minutes where none of our servers could communicate between them (neither between SASU MS nor with the database). Consequence: each MS decided to start the singleton locally (after some time, which I assume is the waiting time). Once the network came back the servers could communicate again but the duplicate singletons are not deactivate, so they are running in parallel.
          Anyone experienced the same or similar issues? How to prevent the above? Is the Consensus Migration Basis a better choice? (I think yes for #1 but not for situation #2).
          Any helpful answer is appreciated.

In general its not a good idea. Running PSConfig will try to establish a lock on the configuration database. Doing that from two servers at the same time may cause the update to fail.
