Two icons on my mac

When I connect my BB Bold to my mac and use the desktop manager to update things, I get two icons on the desktop. One is called NO NAME and the other BLACKBERRY1. Any ideas why this is happening? I just updated to vers 2.3.1 build 5 of the desktop mgr for mac.

Start the computer from the installation disk and perform Repair Disk and Repair Permissions using Disk Utility

Two icons showing for same drive

Why would my mac desktop be showing two icons for the same drive? I have a total of four drives on this mac pro and drive four as of today has two icons. Also, I wasn't allowed to repair my main drive in disk utility. some problems did come up on that drive in the systems/library/core that supposedly don't match. Are these two problems related? Thank you.

I'm sorry but I haven't dug out the DVD in ages. Should I try disk warrior. It said my main drive could not be repaired because of the issue in library/core. Thank you so much for your quick response. I recently tried to download a file that was only for premier which I don't have and it would not open. And I tried to download a trial for adobe after effects. I uninstalled the adobe after effects because it wasn't loading propertly. That probably cause my problem.
Can I keep editing in final cut with drive without repairing it if it seems to work?

I have Two Icons at the Login screen I want to remove one how do I do that? I am Migrating a PC to a Mac Mini and the migration hung. I ran it again and I now have two login Icons. One has all my migrated files and the other does not. I want to remove the one without the files.

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, highlight the one you don't want click on the little minus icon.

Try this:
Restart, using the power button if you cannot reach the item in the Apple menu.
When you hear the chime immediately hold these four keys down: command, option, p and r. All four keys together - you may need to use both hands. Keep holding the keys down and let the Mac chime two more times. Release the keys.

ITunes for two users on one Mac. Will iTunes 7 compute?

I am at it again with iTunes on the same topic I had back in June of 2006 (see thread link below). It would appear that upgrading to iTunes 7 snuffed my neat little set up, though everything still works with iPhoto.
I've had iTunes 7 for a while now, but am just now trying to get the problem fixed. I reset the permissions to my iTunes library which I have in a shared folder (harddisk/users/shared/iTunes/iTunes Library). I toggled back and forth on my two accounts (mine and my girlfriends) to see that it was working again and it was! ... for about a minute, then it cut and read me the same message on her log on:
"The iTunes library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."

Isn't there a way that two users on a Mac can have access to the same iTunes library on iTunes 7. Please help!

... okay, this was weird, but I half figured it out, and it half corrected itself... I think.
I went back into the second user account and accessed the iTunes library alias I had put in the account (linked to the main library in the shared folder). It came up just fine. ... now everthing works fine.
Before, I was just openning iTunes from the dock icon.
I don't know if my verbage helped anyone understand anything, but hey, I have the same music, shopping cart, and playlists on both user accounts accessible without a need for syncing. I am happy.

Firefox opens two icons in dock when I launch it. Why?

Whenever I launch Firefox 4, two Firefox icons appear in my dock. Why does this happen and how can I have just one icon launch? I'm using a Mac.

Ditto, my ATV3 went on the blink last night. It suddenly lost internet connection and therefore resulting in the loss of AirPlay.
Reset and Restarted the device and my wireless box (an Airport Extreme). The ATV3 can see my home network but it cannot connect to the internet via it.
My Macs and ipads can so the internet is working.
Seems that there is an issue with ATV3?!

Newly installed firefox has left an blue "drive" icon on my (Mac) desktop that I cannot erase. When I click on firefox in applications, it always brings this up and won't start firefox directly. I cannot erase this "firefox" drive icon, it won't let me. E

The icon is blue with a white firefox logo on it. My only options are to "Burn 'Firefox'" or "Eject 'Firefox'" when I click on it to edit it, but I cannot cut, paste, or move to trash. It won't let me. When I click on "Eject 'firefox'" it says "The disc firefox is in use and could not be ejected". Even when I am running no applications whatsoever.
When I click on this icon, a small window appears with two icons in it: one the firefox browser icon, and the other the applications folder icon with an arrow inbetween the two. When I drag the icon into the application folder it tells me:
"An item named 'firefox' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you're moving?"
And no matter how many times I "replace it" the icon never goes away.
And no matter how many times I replace it, whenever I click on the firefox icon in applications, it brings up this tiny window on my desktop before it will actually start running the firefox web-browser. And it will never reload my previously saved tabs is also my main concern.

Maybe you copied the icon show in the window to your application and into your dock directly. Try closing your Firefox again. Eject the disc again. Then go to your application folder. You should see Firefox with a circle and cross through it. Open it. It should open without the blue icon appearing on your desktop again.

Yes, but how depends on what model of Mini and what kind of monitors. Early models only had one monitor port. Later models had a Mini-DVI port and a Mini-Displayport. Current models have a Mini-Displayport and a HDMI port. The Mini-DVI and Mini-Displayport can attach VGA or DVI monitors, whereas the HDMI port can't use VGA monitors.
Beyond that, you can get Matrox's DualHead2Go or a USB->VGA or USB->DVI adapter. The Matrox product is a bit expensive and the USB adapters are a bit to slow for games and such. So, again, the answer is "yes", but with limitations

That number means that you have an event invitation. Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification. Since OS X 10.7.2 is required for iCloud integration, I am not surprised that there are anomalies between the iPhone and the MacBook Pro.

Third-party NTFS software interferes with the Apple NTFS drivers, which control whether you can see the Bootcamp partition in the Startup Disk option. As a test, can you uninstall all third-party NTFS software and check System Preferences -> Startup Disk?

Photoshop does not transfer files nor import files. It can open files from any place that finder can access for files.
This is the normal process:
You need to log into https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/catalog/desktop.html Download Center
Select the app you would like to start with
The Creative Cloud manager will install first.
When done installing, the Creative cloud (adobe manager) should open in the middle of your screen.
If no apps automatically start installing then click on Apps
Scroll down to the app you want to install and click the install button
Once the manager says it is done, you can start your app like you normally do with any other app.

I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

Just a note about the system information that appears below your post: iOS 4.3.3 does not run on Macs, only on iPods, iPads and iPhones. When you're posting about your MBP, it would be more useful to those responding to know which version of Mac OS X you're running.
