Two Important issues on asha 501...

1)While playing games, whenever the app tends to play sounds, there is a lack of performance of the app...
2)While updating some apps from store, my phone memory seems to reduce drastically even when the download target is fixed to memory card in store app settings...
What are the reasons behind these two issues and are there solutions for these glitches???

Please move all files from your phone memory to memory card i.e music , videos anything
then it will work perfectly and about 1st point do you download games from nokia store or from any other external link

Asha 501 - USB connectivity issues

In Asha 501 after selecting Mass storage option the "removable drive" icon has stopped appearing on Win 7 Ultimate.
Earlier after installing connectivity cable drivers it used to catch instantly and the USB connectivity was working flawlessly allowing me to transfer files.
Today, the "Mass Storage" option is showing up but on PC the "removable drive" icon is not appearing at all.
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.. ty

It's working now
After uninstalling and making a fresh installation of the drivers from Nokia and couple of restarts, it has started to work as normal and now the "disk drive" always shows up under the list of "Devices with removable storage"
I haven't found the cause to why it wasn't working previously but to my knowledge USB port may be the issue in recognising the USB cable when connected. Few restarts is the key.

Asha 501- usb mass storage connectivity issues.

hey guys, I've just connected my phone to an android tab using usb mode. 1st thing is it didn't detect my phone as mass storage. 2nd thing is after unplugging my phone, all the content in my memory card seems to be scrambled, everything looks in different language/characters. Not sure what to do apart from reformatting the memory card. Any suggestions...
I tried restarting the phone, reinserted the memory card. All info on memory card is scrambled.
Any help would be appreciated.

Blank screen after Ending a call on Asha 501

I got a new Asha 501 last week. I am very happy with the product and its worth for the money spent.
However, two issues i have noticed so far and its bothering me a bit
1. after ending a call the screen goes blank and sometimes it takes a bit to end the call. This is very awkward during some important calls. would appreciate if there is any solution for this.
2. Mail app takes a long time to load the message contents. I know 2g is not the fastest connection but still this is too slow even for 2g.

1. On call, when you bring your phone near to your ear, the Proximity sensor recognises your ear and turn off the screen so that there is no unwanted inputs as the screen touches your skin. But when you pull it back, it turns the screen on again, but it takes 0.5-1 second to the Max.
If it takes longer, make sure there is nothing in front of sensor (it is placed on top left), like Plastic lamination, some accessory, dust or while you pull off your phone, your finger should not be there.
If it still takes longer, better make your device checked at Nokia Care. If found some problem, they will change the sensor.
2. The mail app is working perfectly fine for me on Wi-Fi. You should try loading some websites in browser, if it takes longer, check network strength, it should be strong on 2G internet (Personal experience- BSNL 2G, residing near Network tower, slow like hell, in INDIA). Try changing provider.

Problem with Nokia Asha 501

I have recently purchased asha 501 the problem is after recieving few messages it does not recieve more messages for that i have to restart the phone then i can able to recieve the messages . It happen 3 to 4 times a day . it is not a network issue for that i have changed sims several times . even some time messages sent from other phones never recieved even though i have restarted phone several times and that is tested for several times .
Kindly solve that bug in the next update of nokia .

It is really difficult for me to send text messages in My nokia Asha 501.The following are the issues i am facing.Please provide updates.
A)No option to send messages to contact groups (we cant create contact group).Even the basic nokia mobile have this feature.
B)After typing the messages we need to select contacts one by one by clicking on the + sign. No option to mark many contacts to send sms at a go.(Marking of contacts is a must feature of any mobile phones but nokia ASHA 501 lacks that.)
C)i have around 500 contacts, so its difficult for me to browse through all the contacts to select the one to whom i can send the sms.Also filtering of names is not of good standard some time filtering correctly and some times not filtering correctly.
D) please concentrate on the basic features first then concentrate on applications.There is noway to delete or uninstall the use less Assasin creed demo game app that is pre installed.

Asha 501: VoIP, TLS and certificates

I've recently added sip account to my Asha 501. It works great when I use UDP or TCP transport, but when i switch to TLS it can't connect to the server. I think, this may be caused by self-signed server certificate.
So, is there a way to add my own certificates to Nokia Asha 501 ?

I am trying to use TLS in voip environment and I am in a cross roads.
The guy who manages the asterisk server sent me two certificates: One CA.crt and another User.pem.
I have been able to make the asha 311 accept the CA.crt (after changing it to a ca.der file, according to this post: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Asha-and-other-Nokia-Series-30/HOW-TO-INSTALL-ROOT-Authority-CERTIFI...
But when I try to download the User.pem certificate, I get a message saying "no gateway reply".
So, I have two questions. ONe is, do I relly need these two certificates - is it that the asterisk guy is over complicting things?
The other is. if I need this pem file, how can I make the mobile accepct it?

Asha 501- keyboard apps or multiple keyboards

I'm an Asha 501 user, my fingers are very much large/fat so when ever I try to touch on the screen somtimes it goes to other keywords.
my sister also used the same keyboard and her fingers are tiny, she has no issues in accessing the keyboard. but I've seen other devices in the 3 inch where they have provided the keyboard with much better option like spaces in between the letters are sufficient for me to type without any errors.
If possible try to develop an app for users like me. In some cases the landscape mode helps, but for some apps or interface the landscape mode doesn't activate.....

I do not have any trouble with the Keypad(virtual).... But i prefer ENGILSH PHONE KEYPAD rather than full keypad.
Its pretty easy to type the letters and spacious toooo So just give a try And as far as i know there is no possibility to develop an app that too regarding keypad in this platform. But anyways hope for it

Asha 501.1: Wireless error: Can't load this page a...

Hello.
I have a Nokia Asha 501.1 running Asha Platform 1.0.
I am using this a test device and I do not have a SIM card and just trying to use the device over WiFi. However, when I open the Internet app and browse to a URL, I receive the following error message:
Can't load this page at the moment. Check your phone's date and security settings.
Is it possible to use the device without a SIM card and on WiFi only? How can I resolve this error?

Hi, Richard22. Allow us to verify the issue. You are able to download YouTube videos before, is this correct? Are you using a browser or an app downloaded from the Store?
What exactly happen upon an attempt to download a video? Are you getting any error? If yes, please provide.

Asha 501 and USB problems with MAC OSX 10.9

I checked everywhere and I could not find any threads about this problem, so I'm asking here, in the official support forum.
The problem is:
Connecting the Nokia Asha 501 to the mac (via USB cable), and selecting "external memory", the memory card is mounted and I can browse the contents, BUT the photos show corrupted. I even lost some, because I tried to open them in the Preview app on the mac. (take a look at the attached photo of this post, a screenshot clearly showing corruption)
Importing the photos via Bluethoot works, and the photo on the phone are showing fine. The memory card is okay, I checked with an external card reader.
Also:
- This problem does not show with Windows 7/8
- This problem does show with other Mac OS X
The phone is updated, I flashed it with the Nokia Software Updater and I formatted the memory card.
Any help?

I have the same problem. Would be great to have a solution. I have some photos on the phone I'd like to use and keep, but at the moment they are stuck on the phone.

Please release an update. I bought a Nokia Asha 501 in Singapore and the main purpose is to connect to my Nokia 360 speaker. The probe with Asha 501 is that it shows compatibility issues. Please fix the problem as I use the speakers very often. Would not have to trade my Lumia for Asha if I knew this would happen. Please release an Update ASAP!

Hey friends,never and ever get Asha series phones. They are just a nice piece of **bleep**.The best example is Nokia Asha 501.
1.Just reset your 501 phone and check it,Your APPNOW app will be missing
2.Also the browser will be lost.(these are few defects and very recent ones)
None of nokia officials addressed this in any of the other threads where many of them complained,if yes then there should be a quick solution rather than taking excuses.
The biggest **bleep** is that "whatsapp is still not available for this device,so called SMARTPHONE by nokia ! " which was launched early july(in markets).
The marketing strategy was like cheating ,everyone including nokia priority dealers,retail mobile shop owners etc etc said that this phone would support whatsapp in a month or two. Even though after 4 months there is no whatsapp ! "The same word repeated everywhere "coming soon coming soon "
After that you(Nokia) said WHATSAPP IS NOT UNDER THEIR HANDS, But on 22nd its very clearly announced that whatsapp will arrive to nokia asha 501 through OTA update. So now the complete work is on Nokia ! So what are you doing right from that day ? or before ? Dont you take this seriously as it doesnt cost 40 or 50k ? Or low end phone ?
Pages like this damaging nokia reputation. Dont you seriously consider this ????

Buying an asha or not in the future will remain your own choice and noone is gonna force you about that.
WhatsApp is not created by Nokia, but is definitely created together. There are works done at both the ends. WhatsApp worked on creating a new version that can be run on the 501 and Nokia helped them with any modifications the system needed to be able to run it properly.
Everything seems to be ready now. Whatsapp announced that the app has been created and it will now be pushed along with a software update which should be coming within the next 10-15 days.

App certificates are automatically downloaded when you install apps from the Store. Supported and trusted app certificates can also be downloaded once you updated the phone's software (go to Settings > Phone update). Just make sure that the phone's date and time settings are correct. Asha 501 how to transfer contacts from Macbook

Hi,
did anybody find out about the best way to transfer contacts from MacBook's address book to the new Asha 501?
I tried by bluetooth, however, whenever I try to open the Vcard with all my contacts only the first contacts starting with the letter "A" are copied.
One work around would be to send my Vcard from the Mac by email to my phone and open the Vcard in my Asha 501. However, the Vcard with all my contacts is 4,6 MB big. I cannot open this attachement in my Asha 501.
