Two IOS images in flash - how to boot from the other one?

A contractor used a flash drive to copy a new IOS image into flash; however, I cannot get the second image to boot - a 'boot flash:[file]' command had no effect after reboot.

Are there any commands to move images within flash directories, or how else can I direct the boot loader to the second image?
Thanks,
Marc

Yes, the output was incomplete:
I didn't make any other changes, but apparently a second reboot got the image to stick:

• I had 2 games of clash of clans on 1 game centre. Now I can only see one? How can I find the other one?

My kids had 2 games of clash of clans on 1 game centre. Now I can only see one? How can I find the other one?
My daughter set up a game centre on her ipad. My son, on his ipad used the same game centre log in. He then set up his own game of clash of clans. After my son set up his Clash of Clans, my daugher set up her own Clash of Clans using the same game centre log in on her ipad. Both were using the Clash of Clans successfully on their own ipads using the same game centre log in.
One day my son signed into someone elses Clash of Clans, since then he is unable to go back to his Clash of Clans and can only see his sisters.
Please let me know if this can be resolved.
We wish to delete my daughters Clash of Clans - as she does not use it at all. We would like to regain access to my sons.
My son can visit his Clash of Clans - his clan name is 'The Big Boys' He has a shield that is blue with a yellow lightning from top right to bottom left. His name is Fat Poo (I know ridiculous).
If you can help us or advise us what to do we would make my son very happy
thanks

Thanks for taking a stab at it: that didn't prove to be the problem. That option in the settings for tabbed browsing was not checked.
I may be a bit behind the times: I am used to tabbed browsing showing all the tabs it possibly can, instead of just the last one. Sometimes it won't even show the last tab: I can have 15 tabs open, and not see a single tab. I've been confused by this into closing a window with lots of tabs open, because it looks like a single page-window.
My main problem with the tab-bar flashing to the end of the row is that it means a great deal more mouse-clicking around to browse.
I haven't tried installing the latest beta. Maybe that would fix the problem.

I downloaded a movie twice. How can I cancel the other one and get a refund?

If you are speaking of an iTunes purchase, you will need to contact iTunes Customer Service and explain the situation. Their written policy is kinda cold, in that they say they don't issue refunds for erroneous purchases, but I have found them to be a bit more understanding and helpful than that.
Start by calling Apple at 1-800-275-2273 (if in the US) and ask to be connected to iTunes Customer Service.

• Solaris 10 - how to boot from the dvd media

Hi,
Could any body guide me on how to prepare the dvd media for solaris 10 installation? I downloaded the 5 dvd images and have no idea on how to put them together on a single dvd to boot from it. I zipped all the dvd's and burned them on a dvd but it doesn't boot from the dvd. Any help will be most appreciated. I can't wait to use solaris 10. Thank you.
OC

That is true, but remember that you are doing this in DOS and the file names and locations have to be right. I put the 5 files into a root directory and just renamed them 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
copy /b 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 file.iso
file.iso would be the name of the resulting image. You can use anything, i.e., solaris10.iso instead of file.iso if you want.

• Satellite C50-A-1FT - How to boot from the USB stick

hi,
this is last stop really as have run out of ideas, have asked every techie that know including taking it to an independant computer store.
I am using a toshiba satelite C55 a-1d5, with windows eight preinstalled.
I am trying to get Ubuntu booting off a Toshiba G3 USB stick [sixty four gb capacity],theres nothing wrong with the stick or the multiple distros on it.
so have followed all the advice Ive found and obviously as woud usualy do-on the BIOS/UEFI screen have made sure the boot sequence has USB first, but when using the CSM boot order it wont boot the USB stick it just gets over runned by Windows 8.
I tried to deactive from the BIOS the "secure Boot" or something like that, but it seems to be already off... and its weird because my laptop is new. just bought it 2 days ago.
please can any kind soul take pity and offer reasons why this may be happening or even better, know how to get linux on it? thanks in advance

Seems that you could solve this issue disabling the secure boot in BIOS as well in registry:
HKeyLocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ SecureBoot\State
(UEFISecureBootEnabled needs to be set to 0 to disable SecureBoot within the system)
But to be honest this should not affect the USB booting in case the Windows 8 (or Win 8.1) has been completely powered OFF.

• My Mozilla updated or changed not too long ago, I had to reset and now it's gone back to 9 thumbnails. How to I get the other one back?

Okay so like I said above, my Mozilla suddenly changed one day to showing a search box, and two different "favorite" tabs when I opened a new tab. After I set it up with my favorites and deleted the ones I didn't used I liked it a lot better and it was easier for my kids to use to find the websites they like. I had to reset my Firefox because I had a problem with a new blank tab opening every time I started it, when I did that it set it back to showing the nine thumbnail page. How to I get it back to the new page set-up?

You can modify the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set its value to your preferred new tab page.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

• UCS C260M2: How to boot from local hdd (RAID) ?

Hi all,
i just integrated a C260 to UCS Manager. (converted from standalone to UCSM)
Then i tried to push a serviceprofile on it
-> got config error "Local disk config destructive to current storage There are not enough resources overall"
Thats okay because after that I was told that there was an image installed on the C260M2 in standalone mode.
So now I tried to boot the server from the installed image, but I can not boot from the local disks.
It always boots the UCS-SCU (Server Configuration Utility)
I tried watched for any solutions so I disabled all the boot options in the BIOS, now I get the error "no boot device found"
Unfortunately I can not find any boot option to boot from local disks.
I can see following RAID Configuration in "inventory > rack mounts > servers > server 1 > Inventory > Storage
The 16 Disks (10 SAS and 6 SSD) are controlled via 2 RAID Controllers, each one controlls 8 Disks (5 SAS and 3 SSD) in RAID 0 striped.
- Is there a way to boot from the local HDD with the standalone mode installed image ?
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3810051#3810051 does not work, because of no internal RAID Controllers, both are PCIe Raid Controllers.
- Have I lost my preinstalled image, as I converted from standalone to UCSM integraded ?
Best regards
Alois

Hello Alois,
First of all, rack server can have only one RAID controller when it is managed by UCSM.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2.1/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_1_chapter_011110.html#d180135e3777a1635
------------ snip --------------
Maximum of One RAID Volume and One RAID Controller in Integrated Rack-Mount Servers
A rack-mount server that has been integrated with Cisco UCS Manager can have a maximum of one RAID volume irrespective of how many hard drives are present on the server.
All the local hard drives in an integrated rack-mount server must be connected to only one RAID Controller. Integration with Cisco UCS Manager does not support the connection of local hard drives to multiple RAID Controllers in a single rack-mount server. We therefore recommend that you request a single RAID Controller configuration when you order rack-mount servers to be integrated with Cisco UCS Manager.
In addition, do not use third party tools to create multiple RAID LUNs on rack-mount servers. Cisco UCS Manager does not support that configuration.
I hope service profile association has failed without making any changes to RAID configuration and it is currently operating as standalone rack server.
If yes, check if you have Flexflash card installed and SCU partition is enabled. If yes, you can disable it.
Are the two RAID controllers listed in boot order menu ?
Is RAID array ( virtual drive ) is in boot list ?

• Hyper-V VM Generation 2 - How to boot from .ISO

Hi guys,

Any ideas?

• I have two email accounts. It is only letting me check one. How can I check the other?

I registered two different email accounts on my iPad mini. It's only letting me check one. How can I check the other one too?

Congratuations on your new iPad!
Since your device is so new, I can state categorically that this an issue with configuration. Delete the account that doesn't work, and enter the information anew.
If you're still having problems, check that your email address and password are correct, and if possible, verify it by checking your ISP's settings.

I bought a new computer and I cannot transfer my library to this new one. The message says that I'm not allowed to sync with two computers??? How can I delete the previous one from my account???

You cannot transfer from the iPhone to the computer.
You must move the contents of your old computer to the new one directly.
Use an external hard drive perhaps or restore your old computer backup to your new computer.
The iPhone is not the source of your data, that is the computer, the iPhone is only a slave device to iTunes.

• How to boot from USB flash drive - Portege R500

Hi,
I have a Portege R500 running Windows XP, brought about 2 years ago, and recently contracted a worm virus that has infected some of the start up files as the minute I log in it logs out again, even in safe mode! Quickest way I can think of sorting it is to reformat it with the XP recovery disc and reinstall windows.
Problem!! The CD/DVD drive on the laptop stopped working a while ago, have tried pretty much everything in the thread on this site but had no luck.
So my plan was to boot from a USB flash drive and do it that way. However in the boot settings I only have the options of HDD / FDD / CD-ROM / LAN, neither of these will work. Does anyone know how to boot from USB flash drives?
Any help would be really appreciated

Hi
As far as I know it should be possible to boot from USB FDD
Im not sure if you would be able to boot from USB flash drive but its definitely worth a try
Generally you could try to press F12 button when notebook powers up.
Then a boot menu should appear on the display and you should see all bootable devices.
PS: As far as I know the USB booting was available in ToshibaHWSetup (Toshiba tool which changes the BIOS settings in windows OS.) Therefore I assume booting from USB should be possible.

• Satellite U400-10j - How to boot from USB flash drive?

Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite U400-10j.
I have Ubuntu on my USB flash disk, I now want to boot from it.
I am unable to find the option in the BIOS to boot from the Usb flash drive.
Secondly I have noticed that the laptop also has a internal memory card reader.
Could I load Ubuntu onto it then boot from the memory stick as well?
Your Help will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

I think its not able to boot from an USB stick on this notebook.
The best way is to use a CD. There you can boot from on this notebook and all other notebooks.
In the Internet are a lot of CD versions of Ubuntu and other Linux systems available.
And as Feliks said, its not able to boot from an SD card because this is not listed in the BIOS.

My Macbook air flash had gone for a month and I saw Apple's Macbook air flash storage drive replacement program. I'm not sure whether that program is still available for the broken device or not. Now, I'm booting from the external hard drive. Warranty has gone in October 2013..
I want to send back my macbook air back to apple store. The problem is that I bought it from US and now, I'm using it in Myanmar. If the program is free of charge for my device, it's worth trying to send back to US. Since mine is broken, I'm afraid Apple will take charges for reparing.
So, if anyone having the same problem as me, I would like to get suggestion....
Thank you!!

I have no idea about how to handle the international aspect of your question.
But here is the Apple writeup about the problem and the remedy. Maybe that will help you.
