Two iphones & a Mac Mini

I have two iphones and when I plug in the second, the mac erases all my info and enters my husbands. How do I get both phone recognized on the Mac Mini.

There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library on the same computer, and each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes.
When syncing multiple devices, best to disable automatic syncing when any device is connected, which can be done globally at iTunes > Preferences under the Devices tab.
Do you and your husband share the same iTunes account?

if i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address.  If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their  individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini.  This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is,  if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT:  Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified.  Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

  • Two iPhones + One Mac = One Shared Photo Stream (Impossible?)

Please can someone give me a straight forward answer to this question? I have read through the other similar forum questions and I still don't feel that I have found a definitive answer / solution.
Is it possible to do the following please:
Two iPhones + One Mac = One Shared Photo Stream (i.e. three devices that all have access to and update the Photo Stream as photographs are taken)
    If so, how?
If not, am I really the only person that wants to do this?
    Thanks (in anticipation).

Create a free email account at gmail, yahoo, outlook.com, or one of the other email services and use that to create the second Apple ID.
Also, create separate user accounts on your computer for each of you to avoid unintentionally mixing up your data.

  • Two .me  accounts, 2 iphones - one mac mini?

So here is my problem...the wife and I have 2 iphones, both have two .me accounts which we use to buy our own music, vids, etc. This all works through itunes as I have it authorized to play all.
However when I conect hers to the mac mini, and disconect when she buys items from itunes on her iphone the iphone has my account on it - is there any way we can avoid this?
Is the only answer having to accounts on the mac mini to log in to?
    Can anyone help?

The iTunes account that is available on an iPhone is transferred to the iPhone with the iTunes account that is logged in with iTunes when syncing.
This is supposed to be different with firmware update 3.0 to be released this summer.

  • HT4614 connecting two displays on mac mini(late 2012)

I have a mac mini (on order). I want to use two displays as follows: connect one to the thunderbolt port and one to the hdmi port. Can I do it?

If possible steer away from analog VGA.
If you have DVI or HDMI supported monitors, you can use the supplied HDMI to DVI Adapter or a straight HDMI cable from the Mini's HDMI port for one monitor.
Then depending on the second monitor HDMI, DVI or VGA you will need one of the following MiniDisplay Port to HDMI, DVI or VGA Adapters connected to the Thunderbolt Port. Optionaly, if you had a monitor that supported Display Port, then you could use a MiniDisplay Port to Display Port cable.
Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support - Apple Store (U.S.)
Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • Using two displays with Mac Mini

Is there any way to use two seperate monitors with a mac mini-primary and secondary? If you find a device, please let me know

I had seen this blog a few months ago. They used a Matrox DualHead2Go with two 1024x768 capable monitors to achieve dual screens

You will have to add a custom display / resolution using SwitchResX in order to use them both, but it works.

  • IPhone or Mac Mini?

Looking to get one for my birthday which one should I choose?

I have and use heaviily, a Mac mini, an iPhone, and an iPad and I would hate to be without any of them. As RRFS said they are very different devices even though they can do many of the same things. The question you have to ask yourself is, How will I use this device?
If your primary use will be phone calls, texting, and looking things up on the internet and you will be using it at home, at work or school, at Starbucks, etc. the iPhone is the clear choice.
If your use will be at home or the office, reading email, browsing the internet, preparing documents, working on graphic images, with some messaging, or if you have visual problems and need a large screen and full size keyboard, then the Mac mini is the clear choice.
If you are mobile and will be using the device both at home and away, doing moderate document preparation, as well as the usual internet stuff. then you will be a lot happier with the iPad.

  • IPhone using Mac Mini's internet connection sharing, stops loading webpages

Bought an iPhone 1 hour ago.
I'm sharing my internet connection to my iBook and MacBook from my Mac Mini. Works fine.
    Can't connect using the iPhone.
It will detect the network, it will show full network reception, but it will only load webpages for the first 10 seconds and then stops.
Tried removing the password, fixing a channel, resetting the iPhone (full reset), the "forget this network" trick, nothing worked.
It will load web pages in the first 10 seconds of detecting my open network. Its highly frustrating...
Any suggestions? Maybe using the restore option from iTunes instead of the reset ones from iPhone? Will this try to reinstall the latest firmware?

Very similar case here -- I bought an iPhone just yesterday, set it up with internet sharing on my Mac Mini, and am getting random (but frequent) failures connecting via wifi. Small web pages can get through sometimes, large (or complex) web pages almost always hang during loading, e-mail pretty much never works.
However, using "edge" works just fine.
I've nosed around these forums a bit (and googled for this problem a bit), and it does seem like there are a number of users having this sort of trouble. However, some folks with this problem have noted that they can run wifi just fine at other hotspots. (I haven't taken my phone to another hotspot yet, maybe I'll try tomorrow...) And I've shared my internet connection to other PCs from my Mini successfully before. So, in my opinion, this problem does not appear to be an actual hardware fault in either the iPhone or the Mac Mini, but rather some disagreement between the settings chosen on both sides; my guess is that this'll take a driver modification in either or both to fix, rather than a replacement of either the iPhone or the Mini.
    Just my current guess, though.

  • Two DOA Intel Mac minis due to reseller's bad RAM?

A relative bought a new Mac mini on Saturday and I've been setting it up for them, or rather, attempting to set it up - it's broken in a big way.
It was bought from a local Apple reseller, the Core Duo model with a RAM upgrade to 1GB using 2x512MB sticks, which the reseller installed.
The first mini was DOA - as soon as the power cord was attached, the fan came on full blast, but the power button didn't turn the machine on. Back to the store, exchanged, RAM swapped, tested briefly, then back home.
The second mini powers up and the fan starts off quietly at first, but when the gray Apple logo appears on the boot screen the fan starts revving up and by the time the Finder appears the fan is running at full blast. It then stays like that. Excessive fan noise on a mini is not normal (and no one else here has reported it), so that's the first problem.
The biggest problem is that the computer periodically freezes for long periods, the beachball appears at random, and then it often locks up completely requiring a manual power off. All this time the fan is blasting away at full speed.
I've run the Apple Hardware Test, which confirms there is a definite problem:
Alert! Apple Hardware Test has detected an error.
    4SNS/1/40000000: 'TAOP'
So it looks like another DOA and it will have to go back to the shop on Monday when they are open again. But I'm thinking it is the RAM which has made both minis go bad. The first one died completely and the second is exhibiting classic symptoms of bad memory.
    Anyone agree with my diagnosis?
Anyway, if you're getting a dealer upgrade for a mini, be very careful they are using memory which is up to spec.

Look at the first picture here:
    http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/macword/2006/03/minicsi/index.php
There is a little connector with two black cables at the front of the drive/fan module. It is located between the two rightmost white notches. This connector has to be unplugged for removing the drive/fan module. It it easy to forget to re-establish the connection. Then the fan runs at full speed.

  • Developing applications with iPhone using Mac Mini PowerPC G4

I'm wondering if I can use a Mac Mini PowerPC single core to develop applications with iPhone. Based on the Apple's website http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/ the Mac OS Leopard general requirements are:
-Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    -512MB of memory
    -DVD drive for installation
    -9GB of available disk space
Any thoughts on this? Thanks in Advance.

  • Two iPhones, One Mac, how to Sync Both to same Mac

Plug it in and set it to sync whatever you like.

  • Two iPhones, One Mac, Need advice

My wife and I are going to upgrade our one dumb phone to two iPhones.
I understand that it's best to have two separate Apple ID's so as to differentiate between her and my phone, correct? -- We want text messages for her to go to her and messages for me to go to me.
It's not possible to have two Apple ID's on one e-mail, so what's the best solution for a second ID?
    Any other advice/suggestions appreciated.

Create a free email account at gmail, yahoo, outlook.com, or one of the other email services and use that to create the second Apple ID.
Also, create separate user accounts on your computer for each of you to avoid unintentionally mixing up your data.

  • Two users, two iPhones, one Mac

I'm trying to help out some friends who I've just helped get started with a new Mac and iPhones and have a question for which I can't find the answer. Their Mac is setup with two user accounts, each having iTunes configured separately, and each person has their own Apple ID. If only one person is logged into his/her account and plugs in their iPhone for sync or charge...there isn't a problem. But what will happen if one of them inadvertently plugs in their iPhone while the other user is logged in? Will iTunes for that user recognize it's the wrong phone for that user and not doing anything...or will something get messed up?

Thanks, I think it's too late.
You can try the "help" button if you like.  I think it's still active.
I'm somewhat surprised at the likelihood of confusion you anticipate - the folks synching using the wrong accounts.  I guess it's just me - being signed in to someone else's account is something that would simply never occur in my world.  Some folks are just not as attentive to details, I understand.

  • Two iPhones one Mac

I recently bought my own iphone and have set up my own icloud account. My boyfriend has had an iphone for awhile and has also set up icloud for his iphone and his Mac. I am also sharing the Mac and was wondering if I would be able to set up a seperate icloud on the same Mac. I do not want to share an icloud account on the mac because I don't want my information syncing with his and vice versa. Is this possible? Please excuse me if this question sounds ignorrant. i am actually completely new to the apple community all together. Thank you for any advice.
