Two Iphones appear in devices, nothing is connected
Help! If you can ... My iPhoto '09 has gone wonky. It seems to think I have two iPhones connected. They are the same name, and I have nothing connected! It even loads the dotted squares of pictures, and when I click import, it - obviously - will tell me it can 't find anything. When I go to connect my actual camera, it won't recognize it.
I've tried removing the preferences file, unmounting all my external hard drives, but it still seems to think I have two Iphone connected.
Any thoughts?
First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
Next, if necessary, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.

My iPhone appears under devices and tries to sync even though its not connected to my MBP. I press the eject icon and the iPhone disappears under the Devices. However, within 5-10 seconds, it re-appears and tries to sync again (even though its not connected). How do I get this to go away? Obviously I want it to appear under devices when I plug my iPhone into my MBP. Any advice would be much appreciated. I have the new Lion software update (10.7.2) and have iTunes 10.5.2 (11) version installed.
Connect and select your iPhone in iTunes, in Summary page de-select Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi.

Apple TV (1G) doesn't appear in devices list when connected via ethernet
After upgrading to OS X Lion and iTunes 10.4 my Apple TV (1G) doesn't appear in the devices list when connected via ethernet. When I switch to wireless lan the device is shown and the sync process starts but can't copy the new films. The copy operation stops every time and sometines the device disappears from the list.
Despite of the upgrading of OS X and iTunes all the settings are unchanged.
Anyone an idea?Since my last update, I've gathered more information. I'm almost certain this is not entirely a 10.7.1 issue, if an issue in 10.7.1 at all. 10.7.1 may have changed something that caused this issue to appear,but where I was having this problem weekly if not daily, I no longer have the problem. I changed routers. I was using a new D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit RouterDIR-655. This router was causing me pain with lock ups. I replaced it with a Cisco Linksys E4200. I have not had a lockup in over 2 months now and not one sync issue with Apple TV nor my new iPhones, which sync wireless to iTunes on my Mac Pro.
Thinking about how my network is wired leads me to believe the issue was in the router, or maybe a network communication change in 10.7.1 that the DIR-655 was not supporting correctly. My MacPro and a few other hardwired access points in my house go directly to the router. My AppleTV and Airport Extreme are connected to a Gigabit switch and the Gigabit switch is then connected to the router. I also turn off the wireless capabilities in my routers, as I prefer to let my Airport Extreme handle those duties. This all means my normal hardwired communication path from my Mac Pro to Apple TV was going through the router, to the switch, to the Airport Extreme and then to my AppleTV. My Apple TV is connected to the LAN port on the Airport extreme. By going wireless on the MacPro, I was bypassing the router altogether.
As I started out saying, since I replaced my router, my sync issues have also gone away. If your having Apple TV sync issues, you might want to look at the router as well. Also, while I can’t remember the exact settings, I had opened up or enabled UPnP and other router settings in the DIR-655 to see if that would resolve the sync issues and it did not. In the end, I just spent the money and bought a new router and life is good now. -
i have two ipads and two iphones. when i try to contact my wife from ipad to ipad, both phones ring and connect. how do i fix this.

My ipad1 and iphone4s don't appear as device, no way to sync them
After installing iTunes11 on my MBP (running OSX 10.8.2) both my ipad 1 and my iphone 4s do not appear as devices, when I connect them via cable with my MBP. With iTunes10 everything worked fine. So now there's no syncing, no transfer of music etc. possible. Any ideas?

When I attach my iPhone to my computer I now see (2) two iPhones in the Devices window. On shows no photos and the other correct. I can unmount the "ghost" version but it reappears when I re-connect my iPhone.
How can I get rid of this?Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. See if that will fix the double iPhone issue.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard. -
Two of our ipod touches won't connect to the home wifi. They have done before. All other apple devices connect fine. They can see the wifi devices, appear to try to connect (the circle whirls around) but connection doesn't complete. Ideas please?
I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. It would seem that the latest tweeks to the OS is the problem with wifi connectivity.

I have two iPhones. I just backed up all my photos on my old phone using iCloud but when I log into iCloud on my new iPhone nothing appears? The GB for the photos has been taken from my iCloud allowance so how do I retreive them on the new phone

My iphone 4 has died and says connect to itunes. itunes restore wont work, error message 2001, then 2006 appears.Tried all the troubleshooting help, but nothing works. Any ideas???
I solved my own problem. Hopefully this will help someone else.
I did a DFU restore, then started it up as a new phone on iTunes. Everything loaded properly, then from iTunes did a restore from backup, selected the one I wanted and it still took me to the same screen with 3 options of restore. I chose the start up as new phone from the actual phone and after all the syncing was completed, my phone is back in working order. -
I use two MacBook pro, two iPads and two iPhones. Upon connection and attempt to synchronize photos I receive a message that my authorization limit is exceeded. I read that iOS devices do not count against the authorization limit. One iPhone and one iPad show in the authorization list. iTunes wants to delete my purchased programs and books from the iPad to continue synchronization. What can I do?

I forgot to APPLY the network settings for the USB cable to work. Connected thru USB I can tether.
So, I kept playing, and playing some more...
I had previously unpaired everything, and gone as far as removing network devices HOWEVER...
I didn't remove the Ethernet, Firewire or Airport Network devices.
Now, I have done so. I REMOVED EVERYTHING
No pairing, no network devices.
Bluetooth was already turned off, and I rebooted.
I turned off tethering and rebooted the iphone.
I turned on bluetooth (on the MBP), I turned on tethering. I browsed for the iphone. It said I was already paired???? Ok, repair AGAIN, and THE IPHONE SHOWED MY BLUETOOTH TETHERING BLUE BAR at the top of the screen!
I opened a web page, no go... d4mn, I was close...
Opened network preferences and the created a new bluetooth PAN and voila! Internet back on the MBP. I am about to reinstall the ethernet and airport (I can live without firewire for now) and see what happens.
Basically, the link I posted two posts ago, I had already done that, but I NEEDED to remove ethernet, firewire and airport as well...
So MAYBE it's fixed, we'll see for how long. I'm not going to mark this as answered for now, because basically, it has failed for no reason, and I want to know why...
Hopefully someone can come up with something, but having to delete and reinstall all pairings and network devices (to me) is not really a solution, it's a workaround (at best). -
My two iMacs frequently go offline when I have my iPad and two iPhones-5 connected with Airport Express (2nd edition). If I disable WiFi on my three "i" devices the offline problem stops. Any thoughts on this?

My opinion would be that it is likely not the ISP, unless you have complete loss of Internet service for all devices at the same time......it is the Comtrend device....

iPod not verified properly in iTunes a device is detected. Then on right hand side of computer screen doesn't say privates iPod anymore to drag songs to from my library ? Under devices nothing is ther ? Always had no problem? iPod doesn't even beep when plugged in or automatically backup anymore because iTunes sees a device but not sure what it is? What happened? I've tried 3 different cords too!
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- See if another computer sees the iPod in iTunes
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Oh my god!! why is it so complicated to do something that simple. Add a feature that lets us add our own mp3 directly in spotify with spotify managing them as itunes would (saving in right directory with renaming etc. Make people use your app instead of itunes) And automatically sync the content with devices. It's just too complicated now.. go to prefs add a custom source folder, put all the songs there.. go back to main screen and try to find the iphone (that never appears, I don't even know how to look for it). I never succeeded in adding my mp3. Now I can't see my device anywhere either. I added the song on the desktop app, but with some pain (first tried with itunes source but that doesn't refresh automatically and even if I restarted the app nothing appeared) so I chose the 'folder' source (quick and dirty way to add songs). I added the song to a playlist and tried to sync with my phone (on the same wifi yes).. no nothing happens, the song is there (on the phone) but greyed out (when I click on it it says content not synced, connect the phone on the same wifi bla bla bla) I don't know why it's so complicated.. From the beginning of spotify it never has been userfriendly, even when the phone appeared in device I always had problems and gave up. Hurry up guys! Apple released there own fully integrated streaming service so if we can't play our songs in the same app we will use the one that let us do that. Hopefuly some day we won't have to do this anymore if the streaming services get common and used by everybody, it will put some pressure on artists and they will see that this is the future. Sorry if I may appear rude.. It's getting late and I'm tired.Keep going guys you're doing a great job. But please fix this asap. I'm starting to have a lot of songs that are not on spotify :( And no I don't want to reinstall the iphone app. I don't want to loose my preferences and have to sync my 10gb songs all over again. Until just recently, connection between iPhone app and Windows (7) app has worked fine. I've been able to sync local files to my mobile device. Since two-three weeks ago it hasn't worked. Some Windows updates have been installed and Spotify app has been upgraded. I know I'm on same WiFi and that the iPhone has memory space for the sync, and I'm doing the exact same procedure as always before. I've also tried on both my jobs WiFi and at home. Any ideas?
