Two iphones getting the same messages

I have an American iphone and a Canadian iphone. I updated my operating system and now all the messages sent to my Canadian phone appear on both phones. I imagine this has to do with icloud, but I am not sure how to fix it. Please help!

I blocked one of the phones from the icloud so that it isn't on the same name. So far it seems to have worked. Not sure what implications this will have. Thank you!!

  • Two iPhones showing the same message

We have two iPhones (3GS and a 5) and after we switched carriers sending a message on one shows up on both. iPhone ID issue?

To fix this go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both phones; or
Because you are both using the same Apple ID for iMessage. To prevent this, on one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign in with a different Apple ID.  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and other services.
Also, to prevent merging your calendars and contacts if you are syncing these to the same iCloud account, be sure to set up separate iCloud accounts on each phone with separated IDs. Remember that if you change your ID in itunes and the app store that apps are forever linked to the ID that was used to download them in the first place and can only be updated with that ID. You can delete those old apps and download them and for apps that are not free you have to pay again.

  • Neither my ipad nor iphone will sync with itunes on my pc. it says i need a newer version of itunes but when i download the latest version i get the same message.

I can't get my iPhone 4s or my iPad 2 to sync with itunes on my pc. My very ancient ipod nano works fine. I get told that the version of itunes is too old. I have tried on 3 occasions to download the update, and while it doesn't say there has been a problem with the download I continue to get the same message. I do get a warning that itunes is not properly installed and that i won't be able to burn cds. I have tried uninstalling itunes completely and reinstalling but that doesn't work either.
does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Have you run windows update?  That could prevent iTunes from properly installing.  Also, try with your antiVirus and firewall disabled.  What version of Windows are you running?
OS X is the operating system on the Mac.

  • My husband just bought an ipad and now when we message each other we get the same message to our iphones, how do we stop this?

When I send a message to the ipad, from my iphone, I get the same message to my phone from my own number.  He also gets one to his iphone when he sends me a message from his ipad.  I know this has something to do with the apple id; we do use the same one.  Is there a way to turn off the multiple messages? We don't want to get separate apple ids because the guy at the apple store told us we wouldn't be able to share the music we have....meaning music on my id wouldn't show up with the music on his id in our itunes.  So we switched to using one account.  Is there a way to fix this problem without having to create a separate apple id?

Apple ID cannot be merged or transfered.

  • HT4623 I lost my apps and iTunes after a restore, but it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone 4. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos, but I'm still getting the same message.

I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!

Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

  • HT1491 On both my iPhone & My iPad I keep getting the same message.  Cannot connect to iTunes Store.  I can connect on my Mac.  Until the other day I have always been able to connect on both iPad & iPhone.

All of a sudden I keep getting the same message on both my Iphone and Ipad.  (Cannot connect to Itunes Store.)   (OK)
I am able to connect on my Mac.   My Password is correct.

    Hi Velvalee,
While there may not be specific information about that error, here is an article of steps for troubleshooting connectivity issues with the iTunes store:

  • Recently, when I hook up my iPhone to Sync, it goes thru and when it finishes I get the same message......The iPhone "......" cannot be syned. An unknown error occurred (13019).  What am I doing wrong?

Recently, when I hook up my iPhone to Sync, it goes thru and when it finishes I get the same message......The iPhone "......" cannot be syned. An unknown error occurred (13019).  What am I doing wrong?

I dug a little deeper and found this:
It is the Voice Memos in the Playlist check Box. Uncheck it and re-sync.
It helped this time on my iTouch and my iPhone!  At least this time.

  • Keep getting an error message and my new phone wont sync to my old Iphone 4 settings. The message"itunes has detected a iphone in recovery mode. You must restore the iphone before it caan be used on itunes." yet when i do i still get the same message!!!

The message"itunes has detected a iphone in recovery mode. You must restore the iphone before it caan be used on itunes." yet when i do i still get the same message!!!

You have to restore the iPod, no ifs, ands, or buts...
After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod....

  • My Iphone goes into "connect to Itunes" mode, I connect to Itunes and restore, then with 24 hours I get the same message again, any ideas ?

My phone goes into "connect to Itunes" mode and locks up, I connect to Itunes and do a restore and then within 24 hours I get the same message again and the phone locks up. any ideas ?

    You're welcome.
A hardware problem doesn't mean complete failure.
With a computer, a hard drive can have a partial or complete failure.
If it wasn't a hardware problem, it would be resolved after restoring the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup. If not, every iPhone running 5.1.1 would have the same problem.

  • HT3529 will imessaging work on two iphones using the same apple id

will imessaging work on two iphones using the same apple id

It will. If the two phones are used by two different people, however, you will need to implement some careful management of your iMessage settings to ensure that you don't each receive each-other's messages. It is a much safer option to use different Apple IDs for each individual.
On iOS devices, you are able to use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and Facetime, iCloud, and the iTunes and App Stores.

Maybe you should test these things before calling people out, because these settings do function perfectly well.
iCloud is not supported on Snow Leopard or lower, why bother to mention it?
The OP has an iCloud account, and that can not be opened without Lion or Mountain Lion (on a Mac), IOS5 or 6 (on an iPhone/iPad)
The document I linked to is Apples documentation for iCloud on current devices,I don't care whether you believe that you know better than they do, but it will affect the people who follow your advice as it won't work

Since posting the above - I have now tried downloading the update on my iPhone rather than via iTunes, and its just worked and installed and seems fine! Was a lot quicker as well than the download time via iTunes
