Two iPhones, one computer - managing Apps

How do I ensure that when I sync my phones that my apps stay my apps and my wifes stay separate?
Do I have to log out and create an entirely different login??

Actually, I was always under the impression that each phone has it's own set of synchronisation rules.
Therefore you can have different music, apps, calendars, contact groups set up for each phone.
There should be no need to have separate Apple IDs fo this
If you both use the same Apple ID on your phnes and on iTunes, both sets of apps will reside on the PC/Mac but you can choose which ones you want to sync with which phone

  • Sharing iPhone apps two iphones one computer

I have just upgraded my iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS and wish to give my wife the other phone. However she does not want ALL my Apps just some and also not all my contacts - plus those apps she does want we don't want to have to pay for them all over again(like Tom Tom)- how can we sync our phones on one computer and share apps - but enabling my wife to add or remove apps that we have already purhased as well as contact - in other words:
"can we share apps?" and how do we do it? AND
"Should I create a new account for my wifes phone and then transfer the apps across to her phone - and if so how?"
thanks heaps - if you can answer it of course

There is no device limit for the number of iPods and/or iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer, which includes 3rd party apps.
Each iPhone synced with iTunes on the same computer can have different sync preferences. Under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, you can select the apps you want installed on your iPhone, and the music under the Music tab, the movies under the Movies tab, and the photos under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. The same applies under the various tabs for your wife's iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
For you wife to start from scratch with what is her iPhone, you can erase all content and settings on the iPhone, or restore the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup.

  • Two iphones one computer/itunes account?

I have two iphones (first generation and 3g) and I am looking for details on how to connect and setup the phones to one account while still keeping our stuff separate. I really don't want to have two accounts.

The easiest way to sync specific contacts is select specific groups or folders form the contact manager, in iTunes. Each iPhone will have its own specific sync settings. More detailed information available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
If you want, you can separate things a little more by creating an alternate iTunes library or user account. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 was written for using multiple iPods with a single computer but it's the same general idea for iPhones, they are very similar.
You can sync multiple iPods and/or iPhone with the same iTunes account and library and each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes.
You can disable automatic syncing for each iPhone, or disable automatic syncing globally with iTunes when any iPod or iPhone is connected.
If both iPhones are syncing contact information with the same compatible address book, you won't be able to keep contact information separate. The sync process for contact information is a bidirectional or true sync process with the supported application on your computer.
If you want to keep contact info separate between the iPhones, create a user account on your computer for the 2nd iPhone for syncing contact information and/or calendar events only. The 2nd iPhone can sync iTunes content only with the current computer user account and iTunes library, and sync contact information and calendar events only with iTunes via the new computer user account.

  • Two iPhones, One Computer, iCloud?

Hey, my wife and I are going to be getting two iPhone 4S's tomorrow. I've noticed that some people use one computer and one Apple ID with two phones to keep from having to buy apps twice. I'm curious on how that will work with iCloud. Will we be able to use two different iCloud accounts with one computer? Or will we have to use one iCloud because we are using the same Apple ID?
Will this mean all of my contacts will sync to hers, and all her photos will sync to mine and vice versa?
Or should we just create two different Apple IDs?
Basically, what I'd like to do is keep one Apple ID for our apps.  But separate everything else.  I'd rather not have her photos appear in my photo stream, or her contacts appear in my address book.  Is there a way to accomplish this?
    Does this even make sense?
    Thanks,

Here's what I did.   We have 2 iPhones, iMac , and iPad.  We share calendars and contacts but not email.
I setup iTunes with my single I'd on all devices so purchases, apps, and music can be shared.  For iCloud I setup one master iCloud ID and one sub account.  On phone 2 I setup the master icloud ID with only calendar and contacts enabled.  I setup another icloud mail account only with the .me sub account.  She also has a gmail acct as well.  So far it seems to work.  On the iMac iCloud is based on the master icloud account but each mail account is configured in mail.
    Hopefully it makes sense
Having problems with reminders syncing but assume it will only get better over time.

  • Two people, two iPhones, one computer, same iTunes account?

My girl friend and I just recently purchased our own iPhones. I've owned an iPod for a couple of years so my iTunes account has been active for that long. When I synced MY iPhone it went well I wasn't concerned. However, when my girlfriend synced her iPhone (even after signing herself up for her own account) it put ALL my phone numbers, music, etc., etc., on HER iPhone. Not good for either one of us I must say. So, can two people with two iPhones using the same computer sync to iTunes TOTALLY SEPARATE AND TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE OF EACH OTHER'S saved telephone numbers, music, games, pics, etc., etc.

Your iTunes same computer account can handle many iPods and iPhones on that particular computer and account. However, be sure to _backup your computer_ (not the iPhone/iPod. The computer).
The scenario being your computer came up with viruses not removable except from a computer wipe and restore and all of your movies, songs, etc are wiped with it. When that happens, all your iPods and iPhones will be wiped the next time you reconnect. It pops an error message saying this is not the same account and you have to wipe and sync to be allowed to use it.

  • Two iphones, one computer, apps all mixed up!

My husband and I share a PC. Apps from our iphones keep appearing on the wrong phone. Whenever we plug a phone into the computer, we make sure that iTunes is logged into the correct account. Yet, the phones STILL seem to get "confused." My husband is so fed up, he has stopped plugging his phone into the computer at all. Yet, yesterday a bunch of MY apps magically appeared on his phone. What is going on?? How do we fix this? Thanks!

Both try signing out of your apple id's in settings, itunes andappstore, sign out. Restart your phone and then go in and sign back in. Also i would redownload itunes at apple.com/itunes.

  • Two iphones, one computer

    Hi All,
Here's my problem. I have an iPhone. My wife has an iPhone. I used my iTunes account on her phone to set up her applications. Now she would like to open her own iTunes account so that she can update and sync her phone, but everytime she does it tries to log her into my account. I closed my account on her phone, and opened up her account, but still it defaults to my iTunes account. Is there a way to permanently delete my iTunes account information from her phone?

All 3rd party apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the apps. When there are app updates for the apps on her iPhone downloaded with your iTunes account, she will have to download the app updates with your iTunes account. You can't transfer apps from one iTunes account to another. When app updates for the apps on her iPhone downloaded with your iTunes account have been updated with iTunes on your computer, in order to install the app updates on her iPhone via the iTunes sync process, iTunes on your computer must be logged into your iTunes account. This will cause her to be constantly switching between each iTunes account which will be more trouble that whatever you or her thinks is worth by having your own iTunes account.

  • Two iphones, one computer - syncing contacts

I have just posted a messgae and when I logged back in it had gone??....someone kindly sent me a link, can you repost please?? Also if I set up two dist lists for myself and my husband in outlook 2007 will itunes reconise the two groups when I sync?
Both myself and my husband have got itunes accounts set up on the same computer, but when I sync our phones itunes transfers all my contacts (from outlook) to my husbands phone and all of my husbands contacts to my phone...so we always end up with each others contacts on our phones which is a nightmare!
Can you tell me how I can just update our own contacts when we sync our phones? Do I need to set up something in my outlook 2007 account - two different groups or something? If so how?
On the itunes summary page it has on option on 'sync contacts with' which says 'all contacts' or 'selected groups' but it wont let me click on selected groups.
    Thanks in advance

    Ok thanks.
It says on the link above that Office Outlook 2007 calls them distribution lists - I have some of these already set up but itunes doesnt give me the option to select them individually, the 'selected groups' on info option is not available to select.
So should I go ahead and set up dist lists for mine and my husbands contacts this way or not?
    Thanks

  • Two iPhones - One Computer (Vista)

I bought my husband an iPhone 3GS for Christmas.
I don't mind sharing music, email, etc. However I have a lot of work contacts in my phone that shouldn't be on his phone and I don't mind sharing my calendar especially personal stuff but I'm sure he doesn't want all of my work meetings on his iPhone. I set him up with his own account but maybe I did something wrong because all of my contacts and calendar info are now in his phone.
    1. Should we use just 1 iTunes account and if so then:
    a. How do I set it up to personalize things?
    b. How do I set it up so my contacts are only in my phone & his contacts are in his phone?
    c. Is there a way where I can share specific calendar items with him?
If I should set us up on 2 iTunes account (like I did), please tell me what I did wrong that my stuff went into his phone.
    Thanks so much

I have my contacts in my personal yahoo account; he has his contacts in his phone. I have tried configuring the "sync contact with: Yahoo" under our individual accounts but whatever account I'm in, it still pulls everything from my personal yahoo account and it won't give me the option to click on selected groups. Even though I have logged into iTunes under his yahoo account and configured over to his yahoo email, it still pulls my info. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
    Also, we don't use MobileMe.

  • Two iphones, one iTunes account, two icloud accounts

    Hi,
I have two iPhones, one  privat, one from my company.
    I would like ...
... to have all music, apps, books bought via iTunes to be on both iPhones - use same Apple ID for iTunes account?
... seperate calender, contacts, todos - use different Apple IDs for iCloud?
Is there still a way to have all pictures taken in one common photo stream?

I have the same question.  My daughter and I share an apple account which is fine, but now I am getting some of her texts and each time I send her one I get a duplicate?  I thought I messed this up when we tried to Facetime each other and I have deleted all those options.  How do I fix it so I have my own texts and she has her own texts, I don't get duplicate texts but she can still access our I tunes account?  Please help

  • I have two iphone one is iphone 5 and othere is iphone 4 . can i use same id for both ? And do i have to purchase the application again for iphone 4 which i have buyed for iphone 5.??

i have two iphone one is iphone 5 and othere is iphone 4 . can i use same id for both ? And do i have to purchase the application again for iphone 4 which i have buyed for iphone 5.??

You can use the same Apple ID for both phones, you would then be able to use the purchased Apps/Content on both phones without having to pay again.

  • Two iPhones + One Mac = One Shared Photo Stream (Impossible?)

Please can someone give me a straight forward answer to this question? I have read through the other similar forum questions and I still don't feel that I have found a definitive answer / solution.
Is it possible to do the following please:
Two iPhones + One Mac = One Shared Photo Stream (i.e. three devices that all have access to and update the Photo Stream as photographs are taken)
    If so, how?
If not, am I really the only person that wants to do this?
    Thanks (in anticipation).

Create a free email account at gmail, yahoo, outlook.com, or one of the other email services and use that to create the second Apple ID.
Also, create separate user accounts on your computer for each of you to avoid unintentionally mixing up your data.

  • Two iPhones - one syncs reminders, the other doesn't

I have two iPhones - one is a work-issued phone (an iPhone 5), and the other (a 5S) is my personal phone. I've also got an iPad Air. All of them have the most current iOS (8.1.3). For some reason, the Reminders app on my 5S won't sync with the other devices.
If I create a reminder on my 5, or on my iPad, or on iCloud, it will instantly update on all of those devices. But not on the 5S. If I create a reminder on my 5S, it seems to upload to the others (and, actually, I did it just now and all of a sudden it synced everything else from the other devices).
Any ideas why my 5S won't pull down updates on Reminders?

    Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested (I think I've tried that in the past, to varying degrees of success) and once I turned sync back on, it did download the current list of reminders. However, when I created one on the 5, it still hasn't shown up on the 5S, some 15 minutes later (although it immediately showed up on the iPad). I'm puzzled as to why that one phone just won't seem to sync like the others do...
