Two iphones receiving each others text massages
I have two iphones synced to the same computer receiving each others text massages, how do I fix it?
On each phone go to Settings > Messages > Send and Receive and select only the phone number of the phone in question. Each phone should have only its own number selected. F each phone has its own unique email address you can select that as well. But do not select any phone number or email address that resides on a different phone.

Have been told if you use the same itunes account on two iphones, you will receive each others text messages, is this true?
you can use the same itunes id for purchases and so on, but have separate icloud id's for imessaging and all the icloud stuff. it's not preferable, but it isn't a problem either.

My wife and I both have an iphone. We initially set them up under one apple id account. When we text sometimes we will receive each others text messages from others. Example I will text a friend...she will not see my text but the reply comes to both of us. It seems to be random which ones. Any ideas how to correct this
Yup, get your own AppleID.
The messages that are being sent to both phones are technically not text, they are Apple's iMessage. They use the data part, not the texting part. So if you have an iPad or a Mac computer, you can send/receive the iMessages there too.

How do I unsync two I phones from receiving each others text messages?
How do I unsync two I phones from receiving each others text messages?
To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores); or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". -
Why do we receive each others texts?
My husband and I were sharing an Apple id, only for convenience. Our contacts have been combined, assumed it is because we share an id and it isn't a problem. However, since updating to ios7, we are now receiving each other's texts and do not know how to fix this. I created an id for myself, but this did not do the trick. I would appreciate any help!!!!
Thanks so much~
AmySince you've created an AppleID for yourself. You'll need to complete the sign in process...
Settings---> Messages---> Send & Receive---> Uncheck, or better yet remove, the old AppleID and put your new AppleID in there.
Or you could go to Settings---> General---> Reset---> Reset All Settings. This will make you sign in to your own AppleID phone wide. Instead of bits and pieces here and there.

All of our phones got synced together after doing an Itunes upgrade on line. We are now receiving all of eachothers incoming and outgoing text messages. How do we unsync from each other's phones?
Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Uncheck any number/email that does not belong to the device
Check this setting on any device(s) using the same Apple ID -
Two iPhones receive both phones text messages?
Afrter upgrading two different iphones to the new OS, each phone now received all of the text messages sent TO and FROM the other phone. These texts are not in a group message. The same computer was to back these up. And the same iCloud account was used to update these to the new OS. However, this did not happen before the update. Any Suggestions appreciated.
Settings > Messages - Send & Receive at and make sure only the phene number is selected, not the Apple ID.

After installing IOS6 on my iphone 4 and my daughters iphone 4s we have this wonderful connection that we would like to break. We are now seeing/receiving each others text messages. I love my daughter but I don't really want to get all of her text messages from her friends and I don't really want to read every response she sends. Additionally, she can also see my text messages and there are times I really don't need for her to know everything that I am doing.
So It is time to cut the cord we need our own seperate texting. I am not sure what we did to have this happen but how do we undo it?Get your Apple ID sort out.
Only use the same Apple ID in Settings > iTunes & App Stores to share purchases, no where else.
Here some tips, it was written for IOS 5 but it's still valid for iOS 6.

3 iphones on the same iTunes account receiving each other's calls
I have 3 iPhones on the same iTunes account and they were receiving each other's texts. I adjusted the numbers to send and receive under messages in settings, but now they are receiving each other's calls. Which settings do I need to go to?
Thank youThe phone calls going to other phones/iPads is a new feature described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off. -
I last updated my husbands iPhone 4 and since then we are getting each others text messages. Sometimes when I text a person that is on bothe our contacts it will come through as my husband and not me.
Try this:
On all impacted devices, go to settings, messages, send & receive and place a checkmark next to only those phone numbers and email addresses listed you want that device to recognize.
Good luck!

Can my family still use the 'find my iphone' app from our iphones / ipod touch to locate each others phone if we have separate apple ids? We were sharing a single apple id but recently we started getting each others texts/facetimes .. I read that this happens when you share an apple id. Will we just have to sign in with the others' apple id to locate their phone ?
Use Find My Friends app instead. Much easier to manage, and you won't need each other's id/pw's to do it. They only need to accept your invitations and vice versa.

My husband and I are receiving each other's text messages how do I stop this?
If that is the problem, how do I change it so she has her own Apple account if she already activated her device? Is there a way to remove my account and make her a new one on the device itself if it was activated incorrectly:??

We are recieveing each others texts, it has only happened since we upgrated to iOS6. We only get each others iMessages.
You have two issues: 1. iPad is designed for single person use, not multiple users like a computer is, 2. Everyone trying to use this "single person" device uses the same Apple ID. As far as iMessage is concerned, this is the same person...how would it know differently?
There is no solution to fix this. Even if everyone got their own Apple ID's, you're still trying to use a device, designed to be used by a single user, with multiple users. It simple is not gonna work, and if you manage to get it to work, it won't work very well. -
We have 2 iphones with different phone numbers which recently started receiving each others txts. How do we stop this?
Hello sealecliff,
This is typically caused by both devices sharing an Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime. I would recommend signing out of iMessage on both devices. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out. Then sign in with the desired Apple ID.
