Two iPhones, same Apple ID

My husband and I just purchased two iPhone 5.  We are using the same Apple ID, but contacts and apps are popping up on one device when it was originally downloaded on the other.  Is there any way to stop this from happening?

You have to either stop syncing your contacts with iCloud or migrate one of the two phones to a separate iCloud account with a different ID.  (You can continue to share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.)
To migrate to a new account, first decide which phone will be moving.  On this phone, if you have any photos in photo stream that you want to keep on the phone, save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account (such as deleting your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

I have two iPhones and need to use both with different numbers. I have one Apple ID, can I use iMessage on both phones with the different numbers? If so how

I have two apple phones too. One for work and my personal. When setting up your apple ID on the second phone under Messages settings -> Send & Receive -> you can select the other phone that has your apple ID. I haven't done it, bc need two separate phones. But i believe that sould work. Same on your Messages on you mac. But remember iMessages only works with Apple products. All your other buddies that don't have apple you won't get their sms, on the primary phone you want to use. Hope this helps

  • Two iPhone same AppleiD moving to iCloud using different account. What happens to the app ?

    Here is the scenario.
Me and my wife have two different iphone with the same AppleiD. She has her own mail, her music playlist, her photoalbum and of course we share some of the apps bought with my AppleiD.
Now that we are moving to iCloud I was wondering if she can keep the apps or she has to buy them again.
    Roberto

you can use the same apple id with DIFFERENT EMAILS for find my friends. That said, i just set my wife up with a brand new apple id that *is* her email address to make it easy for friends to find HER.
Then i erased my primary email from my iTunes purchase apple id and ADDED it to my @me.com apple id so i ca have MY normal email address work with find my friends.
now i can have my NON email apple-id work for iTunes purchases and i don't have to ADD yet one MORE apple id (i'm already at the MAX of FIVE allowed to sync to an iDevice!)
so my email address: [email protected] is attached to my [email protected] apple id, and friends can request and it works great. I use the [email protected] for signing on on *MY* phone *and* my wife's phone for iCloud (so our calendars and contacts are shared) then my WIFE is signed into find my friends with [email protected]
I've had a non-email apple id since apple id existed. i've changed my email about half a dozen times since that time, and even so, accidentally purchased a few things with OTHER apple id's (that are now defunct emails); very moronic to use a non-apple-controlled email address as a user id! yeesh that was dumb.

Is it possible to manage two iphone with same apple id and avoid sharing sms?
Currently when my daughter receives an sms my son also receives it.
    Thanks,

Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Uncheck any number/email that does not belong to the device
Note: The little blue (>) will give you an option to remove the number/email from the device

  • HT201317 Two iPhones-separate Apple IDs & Photo Stream to one Mac Book Pro

My wife and I have two iPhones with separate Apple IDs and would like to have the photos we take on the iPhone sent to our Mac Book Pro via Photo Stream. Is that possible with just one user account set up on the Mac Book Pro?

    Hey ekrebs66,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It is possible to play music from iTunes on multiple speakers, which can include AirPlay to multiple Apple TVs. At this time, the multiple speakers option is compatible with music playback only. For more information, see this article:

  • Two devices same Apple ID, how to stop syncing contacts

We have my son's phone using the same apple ID as my wife to track his purchases.  Under iOS 6 their contacts were separate.
My son updated both their phones to iOS 7 and now thier contacts seem to be mirrored.  When he deletes a contact, it deletes from my wifes phone as well.
Will a separate apple id for the icloud stop this from happening?

Yes a separate Apple ID will stop this. But that new Apple ID will also be linked to the iTunes and App Stores. You can manually turn off all the iCloud back up options as another option.

  • Multiple iphones same apple id, how to seperate them

i have multiple accounts on one apple id, how do I create another and seperate them

if it's a family situtation where you want to all share app and music purchases, you can stay signed into the same apple id in the app store (lots of people do), but you need to sign out of the apple id in imessage and facetime so messages don't get crossed over
you can either create a new apple id at appleid.apple.com, or you can do it on the phone after you've signed out of an apple id. when you tap 'sign in' anywhere that requires an apple id, it should give you the option to create a new apple id

  • Two iPhones, same SIM card?

If I have two iPhones, one I purchased/activated the other received as a gift, can I use the activated SIM card to unlock the new phone and use one of them as an iPod/WiFi device only? Or does it require than just poppping in the SIM to unlock/register a new iPhone? I'd like to use it for everything but the phone.

Registering and unlocking are two completely different things. What you describe will not work.

  • One Apple ID, two iPhones, same iCloud. How do I get rid of this without losing contacts, calendars etc?

Hi there, hope someone can help.
My mum upgraded about 18 months ago to an iphone 5 and to set it up we used my Apple ID as it was linked to my dads bank card. Had absolutely no problems with this, everything has maintained separate.
However when my mum decided to update to ios7 (and as she is a novice has not backed her phone up since upgrading) At first it appeared that when she updated she had lost all her contacts, calendars etc but this was restored through iCloud.
Now our phones appear completely linked. Eg when I receive a FaceTime call it goes to my mums phone as well.
So is there any way of splitting our iCloud account without having to lose all our data? Especially as my mum has months worth of business meetings. To make it worse we currently live the other side of the country from each other, so going to the Genius Bar seems rather pointless!

  • Two iPhones, same iTunes, different Apple ID. Can they both sync some elements?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to a new iPhone, passing my old 4 to my wife. She created a different AppleID and manages her phone with a separate laptop/iTunes. She'd love to be able to sync photos and music with my iTunes library (specific iTunes playlist and subsets of my Aperture library). Is this possible, considering that:
I'd prefer not to create another user on my Mac to do that, and
Only music and photos are to be shared; apps, contacts and everything else must stay separated
I'm under the impression that I can add my wife's iPhone to the "manageable" iOS devices on my Mac and set the sync items as to exclude contacts, apps, calendars and whatever else I don't want to sync, but I'd love to be sure of that before trying anything that could wipe my wife's stuff and replace it with mine...
    Thanks in advance,
    Edoardo

An iOS device can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. So if you try to sync it with yours the content will be wiped. So, doing what you want to do really isn't possible.

  • Two iphones, one apple account and icloud backup?

my wife and I both have iphones with only one apple account, I did the icloud back up on my phone and everything is fine, but when I did hers it shared all of our contacts, now I have two diiferent accounts set up for itunes, do I need to create another apple account for her phone and can we delete the contacts that were put on our phones without losing anything else? Thanks

If you are sharing an iCloud account do not start deleting contacts on either device.  Doing so will delete them from iCloud and the other device and they will be lost.  To prevent merged data like this you need to have different iCloud accounts on each device.  You can continue to use the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores; it does not need to be the same as your iCloud ID.  To fix this, first decide which phone will be getting the new iCloud account.  Then on that phone, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The other phone will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the other person's data from your account (such as deleting your wife's contacts from your iCloud account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.

  • We have three Ipads in our house.  We have one itunes account with multiple devices like two Iphones and Apple TV.   My question is about our three Ipads.   How can I set up the imessaging and facetime on all three devices while only using one Itunes acct

Okay.  We have three Ipads in our house with only one Itunes account.   When I go into imessaging and facetime on each of the devices, it wants to start switching my wife's cell phone and then the three emails associated with each Ipad to the contact information for all of the Ipads.    As of this morning, only the imessaging and facetime are turned on my wife's iphone and ipad.   My kids imessaging and facetime is turned off.     Do you really have to have an itunes account for each device to make then work???    Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Ryan

There is only one solution. Each user must have their own separate user account. All of their respective data would be contained in their separate user accounts. This also means each will have a separate iTunes Library. If you all use the same third-party apps, then each will have to purchase their own copies under their own Apple IDs. Some data sharing is possible. See:

  • Two iphones one apple id and master reset

Here is my issue. I just got an iphone 4s for my hubby and did a master reset on his phone. I lost all the data after that. I also use my own apple id on his cell. Will that affect syncing data, music etc. on either phone?I am trying to fugure out the best way to have the phone working properly. So, on that note, should I have one apple id or two?
    Thanks a bunch!

that's right, sync it with your library but also make sure that your sister does not do it again as it will keep changing.
You may wanna disable contacts sync with the iCloud on her device by taking her device and go on settings, iCloud & switch off contacts.

  • Two iPhones, one Apple ID, contacts combined

We recently added my father-in-law to our group cell phone plan and got him a new iPhone 4s. A few weeks later his iPhone got locked up. He went to an AT&T store for help, they said he needed an Apple ID and password to unlock his phone. I gave father-in-law my Apple ID and password since that's what his phone was linked to... when we bought his phone we used my Apple ID for him. Father-in-law unlocked his phone successfully with my Apple ID.
    Here's my problem:
Our contacts and emails became combined after the "unlocking". I have all of his contacts and email accounts combined with mine and he has all of mine combined with his on his phone. I know I need to unlink his phone to my Apple ID and create a new ID of his own.
    Here's my question:
How do I separate these combined contacts? I don't want to unlink his phone and loose all of his contacts.
    This is an important factor:
My father-in-law is deaf, non-native English speaker and very old so I have no idea what exactly he did to unlock his phone. Not a clue.
BTW all iPhones mentioned are 4s with iOS7

that's right, sync it with your library but also make sure that your sister does not do it again as it will keep changing.
