Two iPhones, same SIM card?

If I have two iPhones, one I purchased/activated the other received as a gift, can I use the activated SIM card to unlock the new phone and use one of them as an iPod/WiFi device only? Or does it require than just poppping in the SIM to unlock/register a new iPhone? I'd like to use it for everything but the phone.

Registering and unlocking are two completely different things. What you describe will not work.

  • Two iPhones, one Sim card..

Hi I have a question, i have a 8GB iPhone & recently purchased a 16GB one afew days ago.. I want to use both of them.. you know, swap out my sim card back and forth inbetween the two..
    anyways..
I knoticed when I try to register my new one iTunes asks me if I want to replace my old phone with this newer one; and well, to be honest I'm scared to register it because I dunno if it will reconize my other 8GB iPhone -
but my question is: Will I be able to use both phones with 1 sim card?

That is kind of hard to answer. I have three iPhones, two are 8GB and one is a 16GB. Two are running 1.1.3 and the other is running 1.1.2 On the two that are running 1.1.3, I can switch the sims between the two 1.1.3 iPhone, I just have to connect the iPhone to iTunes for a moment till I see the iPhone is activated message.
If I try to switch the 1.1.3 sim to the 1.1.2 iPhone, nothing happens and the iPhone won't activate untill I put it's own sim back in. I even tried restoring one of the 1.1.3 iPhones with the 1.1.2 sim in it and the iPhone still would not activate. So it appears there is something preventing a sim swap between 1.1.3 and 1.1.2 iPhones but it works between two 1.1.3 iPhones.
    Your experience may be different.

  • I can't make or receive calls in my iPhone 5(just bought second hand and unlocked), but I am able to use 3G network. If I use the same SIM card in other phone it works fine. I have tried network resetting and restore.

I bought this cheap from an unknown persons. I have checked it is not in blacklist. And unlocked by apple.

Those are all carrier features, so contact your cell phone provider.

  • Can I switch back and forth the same sim card between an old iPhone 4 and a new one never used in order to activate the latter? Should I use same Apple Account?

Can I switch back and forth the same sim card between an old iPhone 4 and a new one never used in order to activate the latter? Should I use same Apple Account? Should I activate it via WiFi or iTunes? I am filtering on the MAC no and I cannot read that number from the new iPhone without having it activated??!!
All I want do is to have the new phone activated and then tested!

  • Many of the times my Iphone 3G 16GB shows "No Service" in the specific network area, but if the same sim card is used with other mobile handset in the same network area its shows full network, Is this a Iphone 3G Handset problem or is network

Many of the times my Iphone 3G 16GB shows "No Service" in the specific network area, but if the same sim card is used with other mobile handset in the same network area its shows full network, Is this a Iphone 3G Handset problem or is it a problem with network service provider for iphone in india with Airtel.

Try to reset Network setting thru (Setting/General/Reset/Reset Network Setting - after clicking on it the phone will ask to reboot)
According to my R&D I have experienced that one must reset the network each time when we r at home or in office or other places, the phone after resetting the network setting acquires the area specific network setting n works well, try it & if any other solution do let me known
Calling up customer care did not help me, they do keep us in a loop with the same old answeres that “Our technical team is working on it & WILL GET BACK TO u” leaving us with no solution at the end
Try what I suggest think to will help u

Does anyone have any experience with the Magic-sim elite? It's a strip that fits inside any iphone case as far as I can see. £24.95 in the UK.

  • Is iPhone 3GS SIM card activation mandatory?

    I have several scenarios.
First: If I'm currently an iPhone 1st Generation user, can I use the old SIM card to use iPhone 3GS?
Second: If I'm currently an iPhone 3G user, can I use the old SIM card to use the iPhone 3GS?
Third: If I'm using the iPhone 3GS SIM card, can I use it on other phones to make calls and go online? For example iPhone 3G, iPhone 1st Generation, or any AT&T branded phones, and finally unlocked phones?
    Thanks in advance!

As long as your existing SIM is a 3G(network) SIM as the SIM cards were in the U.K, you can insert your current SIM into your 3G S, connect to iTunes, iPhone will display a message "iPhone is activated", follow the registration process through iTunes (if you wish to) then choose to set up as a new iPhone or a backup.
Let iTunes do its thing and you have a fully working iPhone 3G S.
That's what I did with my original iPhone to iPhone 3G and having bought an unsubsidized 3G S from O2 I'm still using my original SIM. It's running perfectly. MMS works, Find my iPhone works, it's fantastic. Love the rotating maps :o) roll on TomTom release!
iPhone is available in many countries, so I don't know if all carriers' SIM cards are the same as the SIM cards provided by the U.K carrier (O2).
    Hope this helps

  • Can I use my iPhone 6 SIM card in a iPad Air 2

If my iPhone 6 SIM card would work in an iPad Air 2, I would purchase the wifi + cellular model. Anyone able to answer this? Thank you

If you could ,why would you want  do that? So you are going to be switching your SIM back and forth between devices.? Not practical. And your are going to pay more money for a Wifi+SIM model and only use it with a SIM part of the time? Not economical.
Do what Alfred has suggested and use the Personal Hotspot on a Wifi only model if you want to "share" the SIM. Or if you buy the WIFI+SIM model opt in to a data iPad plan with your carrier. If you already have data on your iPhone, some carriers "allow you to use the data plan on more than one device for a modest add on fee. Contact your carrier.

  • I cut my iphone 4 SIM card to fit into my new iphone 5 phone

I cut my iphone 4 SIM card to fit into my iphone 5, and it doesn't fit and be is stuck in the phone. What do I do?

Make an appointment at the genius bar and see if they can help you get it out. Hopefully, you didn't physically damage the phone. Nano-SIMs are thinner than Micro-SIMs, as well as being smaller.
Then, go to your carrier and get an actual Nano-SIM.

  • Can I use the same sim card when I switch to the verizon edge plan?

I will be receiving my new Samsung Galaxy s5 that will be on the Verizon Edge plan. It will be arriving with a sim card. Can I just take my current sim card on my current phone and just use it with the s5? or will I have to use the sim card it comes with because I switched to the Edge plan?

You should be able to use the same SIM card; if they are different sizes, you can get an adapter or go ahead and use the SIM card that comes with the phone.

  • How can i get iphone 4s sim card offically unlocked?*

how can i get iphone 4s sim card offically unlocked?*

You don't get a SIM card unlocked, your iPhone has to be unlocked to use any SIM card.  Contact your carrier and ask if they will unlock your iPhone.

  • After 7.1.1 I can't activate IP5 with same sim card

    Nobody can help me ?
After using my ip5 with same carrier TURKCELL from Turkey) and sim card ,I upgraded it 7.1.1.
And now I cant activate it . It gives error "The simcard inserted doesnt appear  to be supported"
The same sim card  runs normally in other  iphone5 s but not in my ip5.
I did restore many times . If I check another sim card from same carrier no way again.

Most likely the phone had been hacked to unlock it. When you upgraded the new OS undid the hack.
