Two iPods on Same Account--Need to Remove One!!

I added a second iPod to my account in December 2007. The new iPod is my son's. At first iTunes maintained separate purchases and libraries for our individual iPods, but now it will recognize all of our combined purchases, but only his library. I have purchased songs on my account that I do not want him to have access to so we need separate accounts, libraries, etc.
I have tried restoring both iPods and have even set up a completely separate account now for his iPod. The remaining problem, though, is that I can't get his iPod off of my original account so his library continues to "override" mine.
Please help!!!!

iPods are not tied to specific accounts. Only iTunes libraries are. You can hook up any iPod to your account and sync your library onto it. You can then move the iPod to a different library and sync it to that library instead.
Sounds like your issue is with iTunes libraries and authorization. First off, are you trying to use the same iTunes library? Or do you both have different user accounts on the same computer? Or do you have two computers?

They cannot be tracked unless connected to WiFi.

  • How do you remove a device off of an Apple ID? I have an I pod and an I phone hooked up to the same account need to remove the I pod and start up his own apple account.

I have an iPod and iPhone connected to my apple account. I need to remove the iPod as it receives all my text messages. I want to sign him up with his own account and not use mine.

Yes, that erases everything from the iPod.
He can redownload his purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I have two iPhones on my apple account and need to remove one how do I do this? Thanks

If you are using two iPhones on the same Apple Account by using the same Apple ID you can remove one by following the following:
Choose Settings > Store and tap Sign out
The apps and such should remain. If you want to clear all of that you can do the following:
The Erase all Content and Settings feature under Settings/General/Reset will remove your content and settings.

I have 2 ipods on same account( 2 different kids in household) how can I separate them into 2 different accounts?

There are actually a few methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Just to summarise what's in the link above:
Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries.
Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. If you've had no success with this you can have a look through the guide on this page: Loading songs onto iPod automatically
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
You can read about Windows user accounts here: Using Windows XP User Accounts

  • TS1702 I need to remove one unwanted application from my account totally ( iCloud & Ipad). As my ipad will be handled by my kids Ido not want them to see. Please help me to remove my purchase. thanks.

I need to remove one purchased app from my iCloud and ipad. Needs  solution
    immediately.

You cannot delete past purchases from your iTunes account. You should delete it from your iPad and then use Restrictions to stop kids from downloading without the pass code. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213
You can also hide things from your iTunes account by following these steps http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919

  • Removed authorization on old computer, but iTunes still tells me I have 5 authorizations in iTunes on other computers, and I need to remove one before I can auth. my new mac! arrrgh!!

I'm trying to authorize my new mac in iTunes, but it keeps telling me i need to remove one authorization from another computer.
I removed the authorization from my old laptop - but it STILL tells me i need to remove one authorization before my new mac can be authorized!! I even removed iTunes on the old computer, but it still doesn't work! What do I do?? I want the music from my iMac to be on my MacBook as well!

Once a year, you can also perform a step called "deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID".  It will clear all 5 authorizations so you can reauthorize the one you want.
    Follow the procedure here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420

  • Syncing two ipods on same computer

When my son synced his ipod (20GB, no video) to our computer my daughter lost her ability to synce her ipod (30GB w/video). Is it possible to have two different itunes libraries and sync both ipods on the same computer? If so, what changes do I need to make?

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and user account.
    b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
    Sharing a Library
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists

  • Two iPhones on same account showing combined call log

My husabnd and I just upgraded to iOS 8. Same iTunes account, we use google accounts to try and keep contacts, etc separate. Messed around briefly with family share but decided to stick with just sharing account. Howecer, our phones now share the recent call log. For example, I called him and he didn't pick up as he was busy at work. The missed call appears on my phone's recent log as a missed call....from myself. It shows people/numbers he has called during the work day - I obviusly did not call any of these people.
IS this a new "feature" of iOS 8 or did family share mess something up? family share is not turned on on either phone.
    TIA

iPods are not tied to specific accounts.

  • Two iPads on Same Account

I was just gifted a new iPad Air.  I currently have an iPad 2.  While the Air is a newer unit, I'm not sure yet if it will meet my needs well.  The Air is wireless, while the iPad 2 is a Verizon 4G model.  I can use the Air with my iPhone hotspot enabled, but I want to play with it for a while to see how convenient it is before dropping my iPad 2.  Can I tie both models to my same account and have both units loaded with the same apps for a while until I figure out which one best suits my needs?  Are there problems with doing this?
    Thanks in advance!

If you would ever want or need to restore the backup from the device running iOS 8 to the device running iOS 7, you cannot do that. You cannot restore a newer iOS backup to a device running an older iOS. It will work the other way around, though.
IF you regret updating the iPad 2 to iOS 8.1.1, which by the way was the incremental update that was supposed to fix performance issues on the iPad 2, then I would advise against updating the iPad Air right now. See how the iPad 2 comes around and if you think you will be OK updating, give it a try then. Remeber that you can never downgrade, so once you make the move, you can't go back.
Now. to answer the question about how running two different iPads using the same Apple ID but with different OS's, it will not affect anything other than the backup situation and the fact that if you download an iOS 8 only app, you will not be able to use that on the iOS 7 device.
It is never a good idea to have two Apple ID's for purchases because purchases are always tied to the ID that was used t make the purchase, so stick with the one Apple ID/Account, and you will be fibe.

  • Can't get 2 ipods on same account to work anymore!

My partner and I both have an iPod touch and we've always used the same account since we got him one. Now, having both updated to v5.0, I can't get past the final step of the update process because when I try to update the apple id it tells me that this account is already in use. I've tried turning on home sharing but that hasn't worked. So my ipod is now just a very expensive paperweight. Any ideas on how I get both devices recognised on this account?

Just what are you trying to do?  I updated my iPad and iPod to iOS 5 and use the same iTunes account without any problem.  Are you doing something with iMessage? FacTime?
