Two iPods, One computer, Different Login accounts

Hi. I've had my iPod Mini for about two years now and my mother just bought one for herself. On our computer we use different login accounts which is basically just different settings. So iTunes has it's own library on each account and we can add songs to the different libraries.
But when we try and update my mother's iPod, we go to click 'Update iPod', but it is greyed out. Is there any way around this or can we only use one iPod on the whole computer, despite the different accounts.

Check this out.

  • Two Ipods - one computer - user accounts?

I have just gotten a second Ipod for my husband. I have read the article about using two Ipods with one PC - and want to use the two user accounts as my husband already has a separate account on the pc. Do I have to download a separate copy of Itunes using his account, or can I use the install of Itunes that I am already using through my user profile?

yup sure you can use more than two ipod
just create a new user when you open the new account and log in it will configure the itunes to ypur account IT WILL GO THROUGH THE LISENCE AGREEMENT SCREEN click on I AGREEE and u will be all set to use itunes
Make sure u are not connecting more than 1 ipod at any given time to the Computer

  • Two ipods - one computer - Need help

I have had an ipod for a few months and my girlfriend just got one for Christmas. Neither have been registered. Now that she is trying to put songs on her ipod it is uploading all of the songs from mine onto hers. I don't know how to make it so that she has her own library without deleting all of my songs. Can two ipods be used on one computer? What should we do so that we can have two different libraries that won't interfere with the other? Is there a way to login to different itunes accounts on one computer instead of the same account opening through default when accessing itunes/library?

I have a Nano 2nd gen and recently purchased a 1GB shuffle. Using the link above I tried "method 3" to create a separate library. My problem is that when I clicked the advance button there was no general tab. Do I a newer version of itunes or something?

Obviously I don't want the same songs on my iPod that he has on his. How do I open two different iTunes accounts or pages. So far tonight I think I have completely erased all his songs because I couldn't get a different iTunes set up. HELP. I'm a somewhat computer-challenged grandmother but have to manage my son's acct for him. Now I want one for me as well only with different music and I don't know how to do it. • Two iPods One Computer with two hard drives

    HELP! HELP! HELP!
I have a 20GB iPod set up on my computer using the computer's hard drive which is only 40GB.
I have just purchased a 60GB Video iPod and want to set it up with the program, a second iTunds and it's playlists on an 80GB external hard drive.
I copied the iPod program and iTunes over to the portable drive, but can't get my new iPod to be recognized. And, the iTunes on both locations shows my playlists for my original iPod. Each time I plug in the new iPod, it says there is no iPod connected. When I plug in my old iPod, it works fine.
I am not real good at setting things up and need as much detail as possible for getting this to work.
The goal is that I can choose which iPod to access and set up each play list separately. I want to have my music on my old iPod and use the new one for pictures, videos, etc.

  • Help with two ipods, one computer please!

Right, my sister had an ipod mini already connected to the computer. I got an ipod mini for my birthday, the updated version, and wanted to use it. I read that it was okay to have two ipods on the same computer so i installed mine how it said. However, noe both ipods are on the same itunes which means sharing all our music. I now want to move my ipod to another user account on windows XP without damaging either ipod or the music.

Create separate XP user accounts and each will have your own library.

  • Two people, two iPhones, one computer, same iTunes account?

My girl friend and I just recently purchased our own iPhones. I've owned an iPod for a couple of years so my iTunes account has been active for that long. When I synced MY iPhone it went well I wasn't concerned. However, when my girlfriend synced her iPhone (even after signing herself up for her own account) it put ALL my phone numbers, music, etc., etc., on HER iPhone. Not good for either one of us I must say. So, can two people with two iPhones using the same computer sync to iTunes TOTALLY SEPARATE AND TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE OF EACH OTHER'S saved telephone numbers, music, games, pics, etc., etc.

Your iTunes same computer account can handle many iPods and iPhones on that particular computer and account. However, be sure to _backup your computer_ (not the iPhone/iPod. The computer).
The scenario being your computer came up with viruses not removable except from a computer wipe and restore and all of your movies, songs, etc are wiped with it. When that happens, all your iPods and iPhones will be wiped the next time you reconnect. It pops an error message saying this is not the same account and you have to wipe and sync to be allowed to use it.

  • Two users, two iPods, one computer~ problems

I share my computer with another ipod user. We are getting 2 issues confused. First, she was recently on the computer and probably updated music. Now, I can't get my ipod on to update b/c I get the msg. stating that another user has to log out. What was she supposed to do when she was done so that she was logged out? Is there anything that I can do to log her out w/out having her ipod around (she is out of the country for now).
Secondly, how can I seperate her music and my music, so that we don't have to take on each other's music every time we plug in the ipod?
    TIA

If you have 2 user accounts in windows, turn off "Fast User switching" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93764

  • Two people, two ipods, one computer

Is it possible to create two Libraries in itunes? How can my daughter and I keep our music separate when we use the same computer?

Theres 2 methods and apple covers both at the link below. If you choose the option to have 2 user accounts in windows, you need to UNCHECK "Fast User Switching"

  • Two Ipods - One Computer - What

I have a 3rd Gen. Ipod and just got a new 5th Gen. for my husband. I think i know how to only have one Itunes account. BUT Do I need to install the cd that came with teh Ipod for the new one? OR can I just run it off teh Ipod software that is already installed that mine is using? What do I need to do?

See I knew that sounded too easy! The Ipod was recognized and Granted I didn't have to install the Ipod cd - BUT Itunes won't recognize the Ipod - says it has to have ITunes 6.0 or newer to run.
Do you know anything about the new Itunes version? or do I need to go to the other forum. I have read several messages that says the new version is a pain.

  • One Library / account - two iPods to sync different muzic

Can iTunes manage two different iPods in a single account / library - without making their contents the same? One synchronzing playlist A, the other synching playlist B ?
Or ist the only way to handle 2 iPods by 2 different user accounts?
    Thanks a lot
    Peter

    Very simple.
Each user creates their own playlists.
Plug in your iPod, open the iPod preferences in iTunes and select Automatically Update Selected Playlists.
Have the other user do the same.

  • Two ipods one problem

I have two ipods, one first and one second generation. The first generation model has been reset but now itunes won't see it but windows will. My second gen ipod works just fine. I have tried all the steps I could to get itunes to recognize the first gen. Any ideas. Thanks,

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.
    Putting iPod into disk mode.
    Still no joy, see these.
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
