Two ipods to one itunes?

how do i download music for two ipods on the same itunes? How can i do this without having my songs on theirs and their songs on mine? i'm just really confused and i'd apreciate you're help! I've had a nano for 3 weeks and cant use it yet!
THANK YOU!

There are 3 main methods for doing this, First tho just a caution, its highly recommended by apple you do not connect more than one iPOd at a time for syncing.
Method 3 is you just simply connect the iPods to the PC, this will load the EXACT same library to each iPOd
Method 1 and 2 are for connecting the iPods to one computer, but having separate music on each iPod, One involves creating 2 or more playlist, each one only having your songs in them, then setting the iPod to update only those playlist. the other method is to create 2 user accounts in windows. this is in more detail at the link below

The OP didn't ask how.  They only asked if it was possible, which would consist of either a yes or no answer, which is exactly what Niel provided.
If the OP wanted more information, they will respond asking for more information.

  • Two ipods and one itune

Hello, I have two ipods but just one itunes.
I can´t add music for one of my ipod´s. The itune recognize just one.
    What i have to do?
    Thank you!

OK.... I've ran into a problem and don't know how to proceed with this.
The 2nd user is set up with their ITunes account and we have successfully purchased a few songs.
What I expected to do was sync their Ipod and have the songs already on their IPod copy into the "new" Library we just set up. However, indications are that if I use "sync", it will erase the songs presently on the IPod and then only put back the few new songs we just purchased. (I tried a few other things but cannot get the songs from the IPOD into the ITunes Library or any other folder to preserve them)
    1. If it is even possible, how do I get the songs off the IPod into the newly established Library?
    2. If I indeed cannot sync the IPOD / Library - how do I get the newly purchased songs from the Library to the IPOD without erasing the songs already on the Ipod.
    Thanks, hope you can help!

  • Managing two Ipods off one itunes list

i have an extensive library and have two Ipods (30g & 2nano) how could you manage most playlist on 30 and a couple playlist on the other - is it possible? how can you updae only a portion?

Set your IPODs to "Auto Update Selected Playlists Only" or set them to "Manual Update"
Question: Can I update more than one iPod with my computer?
Answer: Yes. Each iPod communicates a unique device identification number to your computer, allowing you to take advantage of automatic music transfers to your iPod even if you share a computer with another iPod user. You can choose to automatically update your entire music collection on multiple iPod players or choose to update selected playlists, allowing you to transfer custom playlists to individual iPod players.

  • Can I have Two iPods on one iTunes???Help Me!

    Hey There,
I'm just wondering if I can have 2 ipods on the same iTunes (can i put my library on a friends new ipod?????)
Help me! Last time i tried something with i tunes i lost my music.
    Thx

    Khiemke,
Theres two ways to use One computer with 2 iPods and have each iPod have its own music, one is to creat 2 playlist, another is to create 2 user accounts in windows. This is all explained at the link below, personally I think the 2 user accounts in Windows is Best. If you go this route make sure "Fast User Switching" is OFF in windows, iTunes doesn't like this feature on.

  • Can you use two ipods on one itunes account. It let me transfer my purchases, but can i put songs that are on one ipod onto the other that are already on my itunes?

i had an ipod classic and used it for a few years until i got an iphone.
Now I want to return to use it to fit all my songs on, however i now use a different itunes on a different computer.
It let me transfer all my purchases, but won't let me put the songs on that i downloaded from albums, and it won't let me put songs onto it that are on my iphone.
do i have to redownload all the songs again, or is there a simple method to solve this?

  • Two ipod touches, one itunes?

My kids just got new ipod touch 4G's and I would like to sync them both to a single home computer running Win7 with iTunes 10.5.1.  I should also add that I currently sync my iphone 4 running v4.3.3 to the same iTunes/PC.  Can anyone suggest a good (as in easy) way to do this?  I appreciate any help, and my kids would be ever so grateful!
I've read the three options suggested on Apples supprt page, however, I would appreciate more input as to which method most people perfer.

The way my family does this is on the shared computer make seperate accounts for both children and install itunes on their own account. This way, they can just go to their account whenever they want to sync their ipods and you don't have to worry about making seperate libraries for the different accounts!

  • Can I do two iPods on one iTunes on my computer?

I have a previous iPod and created a library. Now I have a new iPod and do not want all the same songs on both iPods. Is it possible and what do I have to do?

    Hi all.
I would like to add to this topic if I may. What If I wanted to use my existing library with my new ipod touch and still keep accessing it with my older ipod video? Would this cause problems? Is it even possible? I would imagine I tunes would recognize the different ipod and function properly. Although any purchased files [m4p's] might not copy over to the new pod but ripped mp3's should work fine. I believe I did do this once or twice with a Razor Cell phone that had itunes built into it with no problem. please advise if you can....

  • How do I manage two iPods on one computer please?

I have an iPod (early 40G model, and it's fine). I installed iTunes, and all fine. A year goes by. Another member of the household gets an iPod (mini), and we load the software into a different subdirectory in Program Files. This erases my iTunes, but all still works fine for some reason. i.e. when I attach my iPod, it is recognised, and my iTunes music is shown on the screen. When the other iPod is attached, same thing (i.e. it is recognised and her iTunes are shown on the screen). Our different music folders are stored in different subdirectories.
This is all fine, until her iPod erases itself, and is now no longer recognised by iTunes. In the processes advised for solving this situation (restore and reset etc) we erase my iPod (but have managed to restore music to if after re-installing the original software that came with it.)
So now we are back to the stage of having her iPod not being recognised by iTunes. Please suggest solutions! Please also advise if there is a more sensible way of managing two iPods on one PC. Is it really as basic as having different playlists?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Yep. Playlists will do it.

  • Can I use 2 ipods on one itunes account?  I have also used 2 computers.

I'll try to make this clear.
I had one computer and one ipod set up on itunes. The computer ran on Windows XP.
I gave the computer to my niece and left the itunes account alone.
I bought a new computer that runs Windows Vista. I installed a new itunes account.
I bought a smaller ipod to record audio books. I wanted to keep the larger ipod for music.
Now I have the smaller ipod on the new computer. If I decide to download music, I can't use the larger ipod that I want to use for music. How can I own two ipods and use itunes? I am not file sharing. I just wanted two devices for two purposes because I like to keep the audio books separate. Now if I go back to the original ipod (the larger video one)it is not recognized on my new computer. A lot of the music on the original Windows XP computer was from CDs that I owned, not just music I purchased. I probably should have just stuck with one ipod, but I didn't. I am so confused.
Can I put the music on my old ipod, from the old computer, on the new itunes? I would then just use the new ipod. It probably has much more storage than I realized. Then what happens when it syncs? Would I lose everything? Is there a machine that can transfer music from one ipod to another, then I could just sync it all on the new ipod and new computer?

    Hi mverza
Yes you can use as many ipods as you like on differnet itunes libarys. As long as you manually manage your ipods and don't sync. You can put your purchased music on as many ipods as you like (as long as you manually manage your music and you connect to the computer you bought it from). You can transfer purchased music to your ipod for a maximum of 5 computers (so you can play music purchased music on only 5 computers) although apple have changed the rules so there is no file protection)
But see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 for more infomation.

  • HELLP!! NEED TO KNOW HOW TO USE TWO IPODS ON ONE COMP!ASAP

i have an ipod nano and an itunes account. Now my mom has a nano and we need to know if you can register them on the same account and how or any other tips for using two ipods on one comp!
    PLEASE HELP ASAP!
    ZACH

    Hello Zach,
There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look anyway and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
