Two iPods, two liberaries, same account?

I have an iPod Touch second generation and an iPod nano second generation. The nano is 8gb and the touch is 32gb. I would like to keep both but have a different liberary for both. The iTouch would be the main liberary. The nano would have only music and no video/game/pictures. But the nano and the touch would have the same music. I store all my music and iPod/iTunes related stuff on my external hard drive. Is there a way to have these two on the same apple account but different liberaries? Would I be able to buy a song and have it in both liberaries? And is there a way to copy my exising liberary and put the exact same music on my nano? Thanks in advance!

You can choose whatever playlists that you would like to sync.

Yes you can. My wife and I each have iPods and use the same iTunes store account. Only plug one iPod in at any given time. Also, turn off fast user switching if you choose to set up another user account.

Hey Bumblebee, To each other, no-- would be like trying to call yourself on the same phone. To different persons on other devices??? Not sure you'll have to try, I'm guessing if both are online you may well dial up on both, (once had the same address on the my computer and iPod, both would ring when called, this stopped when I changed the iPod's address). No, as long as you want to share the same account for iCloud's services like Mail, Calendars, Contacts, Reminders, Notes, iCloud, Documents etc.
I personally would create two accounts so that everyone could have and use heir own mail account, address book, create meetings, reminders etc. without reading and deleting stuff of the other person.

How do you sync two Ipods to the same MacBook?

Have a nano already synced to my MacBook. Want to also sync my 5th gen 30GB Ipod to the same MacBook. Have only had my MB for 3 months after 18 years of PC platform (yes I'm drinking the KoolAid baby.) This notebook is fantastic.
An issue I had with my old PC was that you couldn't sync two Ipods to the same PC unless you held down the shift key while accessing ITunes to select a library - or something like that.
Please tell me that if I plug my 5th gen into this MacBook it won't overwrite my nano songs/info that are already on this MacBook? Apple has to have done it easier than how I had to do it with the PC. Any help from you experts out there will save me a ton of grief..........Thanks! R.Ty

My issue is however that in addition to all of the songs that I have purchased via ITunes, I have about 600 songs from my own CD's on the 5th Gen that if I restore will be gone. Time - yes....money - a little.... It would be great if I could de-authorize the PC it was synced to and now work off my mac....

What you need to do is first copy all the music currently on your 5th generation iPod to your new Macbook. Once you have done that, you are free to *Erase and Sync* it upon plugging it in, or restoring it via iTunes as described above.
And if you are adding purchased music, you will need to authorize your computer if you haven't done so yet. To do this, choose Authorize from the Store drop down menu in iTunes.

iPods, iPhones, and iPads aren't tied to one particular iTunes accout/Apple ID. So there are no special instructions to follow to allow you to sync it with your newer account. Simply sync it as you would your iPhone 4.

You can either have multiple user accouts on your computer, or create separate playlists for your two iPods in iTunes.

I have a 5th gen Touch, and I gave my 4th gen to my son. The Apple IDs are the same for both. The reason is that I have games I've purchased that he plays, so he doesn't want to lose them if we give him his own account. My question also has to do with music.
Is there a way to plug his iPod in (still with my Apple ID) and sync only the apps and games and music that he wants? The first time we tried to do this, it put everything that was on my iPod onto his. In a sense, we would like two different "profiles" under the same account. Will this work?

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.
To make sure you only sync the media yoo want, configure iTunes syncing so that only checked media is synced to the idevices.

yup sure you can use more than two ipod
just create a new user when you open the new account and log in it will configure the itunes to ypur account IT WILL GO THROUGH THE LISENCE AGREEMENT SCREEN click on I AGREEE and u will be all set to use itunes
Make sure u are not connecting more than 1 ipod at any given time to the Computer
