Two iTunes accounts in family - balance issue

I have the main Itunes account.  This is the one we purchase all movies, TV shows, etc. with and use for the AppleTV's.  My wife has an iTunes account for her iPhone, iPad and MBP which is also her email address.  She purchases a few apps here and there, etc. that I really won't use.  If it's something we both will use, we use my account.  The problem is....
She had a $100 iTunes gift card back in July and has only used $4 as almost everything she does is free.  We would like to use the balance on movies / TV shows for the kids to watch on AppleTV.  BUT, no on her iTunes account or we would have to keep signing in and out of accounts on the AppleTV - which would make it a pain in the a**.
I've checked and find you can't gift a movie using a gift card balance.  You also can't transfer a balance or use the balance to set up an allowance to another account.  The only option I'm seeing is to purchase the media on her account, download to my Mac and into my iTunes library since that Mac is authorized for her account.  Then we could watch them via my iTunes from AppleTV.  Not as slick as streaming though.
Are there any ideas I'm missing here?
Thanks!

  • How do I MERGE the purchases of two iTunes accounts into one Family Share?

We have purchased many apps via two iTunes accounts.  How do we merge these purchases into on Family Share account

    Hi MacHead2010,
I am not quite sure exactly what you mean by your question. It is not possible to merge two iTunes Store accounts. See this article for reference -
Frequently asked questions about Apple ID - Apple Support
Using Family Sharing, however, does allow all members of a Family Sharing group to use the content such as music, apps, etc on each other's devices.
See this article for how to set up Family Sharing -

  • I have two iTunes accounts that need to be merged together

Recently with the purchase of a new iPhone, I created a new Apple ID and a new iTunes account in that setup process.  How can I merge the old account with the new account? I have not been able to use the iPhone to purchase items from the Apps Store because it links to the new iTunes account.  I have not discovered the method to change that iPhone configuration so I can log on with the original iTunes account.
Since the original iTunes account has $20+ balance from an iTunes card, I need to merge these two accounts.  Is that an issue for iTunes store customer support?

You cannot merge accounts. But you can change your iPhone to use your old account. Simply go to Settings->Store, sign out of your new account and then sign in to your old account.  When signing in to the old account select "Use Existing Apple ID" and not "Create New Apple ID."

  • Will I have problems with two iTunes Accounts?

When I first bought my Mac, I didn’t have MobileMe, and therefore I used my Comcast email address in order to set up my iTunes account. I purchased several Apps, music, and iBooks under my Comcast account, however, since purchasing MobileMe, I have kept myself signed into iTunes under my MobileMe Account, and have made all purchases using my Mobileme iTunes account. Unfortunately, I know this means that I have two iTunes accounts.
For mail, I solely use MobileMe, and any email I get from Comcast, is forwarded to my MobileMe Account. When I get “App Updates” available on my iOS devices (iPhone 4S and iPad2), the “pop up” (which requires I enter my password to allow the download to begin) will be associated with either my Comcast email address, or my MobileMe address (depending upon which account I purchased the App, Music, or Book under). I do use only one single computer for backing up however.
While this hasn’t created any problems using an iTunes hard or wireless sync, I didn’t know if I will have any difficulties once migrating over to iCloud. I’m hopeful that everything works as it has. I don’t have a family account, all purchases under the Comcast and MobileMe addresses currently live locally on my iMac that I use for syncing.
Just wanted to check with you all before I migrate to iCloud, as I didn’t want to lose any of my Apps, Music or Books, nor do I want to have difficulties with App updates (e.g. problems migrating purchases to iCloud that were originally bought under my Comcast Account, or problems updating Apps when updates are available that were originally purchased under my Comcast Account).
Thanks you in advance for any input!
    Best,
    iDan
PS: I recently updates to iOS 5, and 10.7.2!

My personal experience has been no issues with either browser, including using a secure webmail account access.  If others have reported issues, I really can't comment since I haven't had any.  I have used my systems extensively in Paris and Zurich, especially at the technical university in Zurich and been satisfied with my access.
Of course, if you have more than one browser installed you can easily switch between them if problems do arise...a lot to be said for options

We have two iTunes accounts on one computer. Why is my music, apps, etc showing in my husbands account? Home sharing is NOT selected. This recently became an issue when we added additional devices. Now we keep getting each other's apps!

He intentado creando nuevas cuentas y desinstalando iTunes y volviendolo a instalar.
Favor de orientarme en la solucion adecuada para el asunto comentado anteriormente.

  • If I have two iTunes accounts, and only want one to update my apps why does the other account keep opening?

Here's the issue-I have two iTunes accounts, yet account #1 always comes up when I want to update my apps. This occurs even when account #2 is logged in and has been synced from desktop to iPad. Additionally,Account #2 is logged in on the iPad and yet account #1 prompt appears when updating. Interestingly account #2 functions normal for iTunes purchases but not apps purchases. Any suggestions?

Apps will ALWAYS be tied to the account from which they were purchased.  You will always have to update the apps from the account from which they were purchased.

  • Two iTunes accounts

I have two iTunes accounts and would like to know how to best deal with this issue.
My first account (Apple ID: [email protected]) is my original account on which I purchased all my music. The 2nd account (Apple ID:yyy ) was setup when I was developing some in-house apps, and at that time didn't know that I could use my initial account.
I just purchased a new iPad and it seems to be linked to my developer account (Apple ID: yyy). I plan to renew this account soon, so that I can develop for the iPad.
Is there a strategy on how to best work with these two accounts. If I purchase an App does it matter which account is billed too? Should I merge the two accounts in one? If so can, you help merge the personal (Apple ID: xxxx@yahoo) into the developer accounts (Apple ID: yyy)?
    Thanks,
    K

If I purchase an App does it matter which account is billed too?
It doesn't matter to iTunes or your iPad, no. Use whichever you prefer.
Should I merge the two accounts in one?
Sorry, but you can't merge iTunes Store accounts. If you have content purchased via both accounts, you'll have to continue to use both, at least for authorization purposes.
    Regards.

  • HELP...want to merge two itunes accounts into one running several ipods

Hi, I need advise as I have two Itunes accounts for my family running on tow different laptops with win7 and with two iphones and two itouchs. I do I merge all this into one account that I can access from all devices and all computers?

Do you have a home network? You can set up itunes Home Sharing and transfer your purchases that way. You need to authorize each PC for the two different STORE accounts to transfer each account's purchases.
If you don't have a home network you'd have to use an external hard drive or USB stick.
Long story short, there's no automatic way to do it. You need to keep track of each account's purchases and what PC they are on, then move them to the PC that is missing those items.
There are some 3rd-party programs like Tune Ranger that say they will keep everything insync from one PC to the next, but they cost around $20 or $30.

How can I have two itunes accounts on one computer?

    Not sure what you mean.
An account is a user name and password.
Sign into whichever account you want to use for purchasing.
Authorize the computer for both account to listen to the content.

How can I combine two itunes accounts into one?

Items purchased from the iTunes Store are permanently associated with the account from which they were originally purchased.  Apple provides no way to change this.
However, if you wish to put content from two accounts into a single iTunes library, you can easily do so.  Use the command File > Add File (or Folder) to Library.
