Two iTunes accounts on the same PC computer

I am using iPhone and my wife is going to buy a iPod touch.
Can we have separate iTunes account on the same PC computer?
Meaning I have my own account & syn data and she has her own.
Or she better use another computer.

Can you have two itunes accounts on the same computer and if so how do you access them without syncing each others music?

Yes. Use separate iTunes libraries(launch iTunes with the Shift(Windows) or Option(Mac OS X) key held down as needed), or different user accounts on the computer.

What do you mean by, "synch two itunes accounts"? You don't sync iTunes accounts.
WHat are yoru trying to accomplish?
iTunes account= Used to make iTunes purchases.
iTunes library = All your media and what you see when you open iTunes.

iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Note that when it says "publicly accessible location", it needs to be a place where everyone has read and write access. The most common such place is the Shared folder in the Users folder, but you can place the music elsewhere if you change the access permissions manually (don't start tinkering with permissions unless you're confident you know what you're doing and can reverse things if they get messed up).

  • How do I create two iTunes accounts under the same email address?

I've got my account duplicated -and charged for apps I already own- by using my email address as login instead of apple ID, but I've been told it's my fault so…
    I'm trying to figure out
*How do I do to create two iTunes accounts under the same email and having different IDs?*
I mean, two accounts with different purchase history. It doesn't matter if billing address, or credit card are the same (or different) because none of them flag apps as "purchased"
I tried today from iTunes, but it tells me the email is taken.
Do you know any way a user can do it from our end? (website, iTunes, iPhone)
If you've got charged by apps twice, please don't say it here. I don't want my post being deleted again. Thanks.

    Beavis2084:
Expired .mac accounts HAVE NO EMAIL. You own the id (which iTunes requests to be spelled in form of an email)
Also, FREE .mac accounts have no email either.
What you see in the screenshots is what I'm saying:
There's been a change in the way iTunes wants you to login. The iTunes reps see at their end what you see at the top of the window, which probably is the "migration" of the new login: Old login system, using ID (in form of email for iTunes)
BELOW you clearly see where says "ID" and both have the email as login.
(again, that .mac email doesn't exist and NEVER DID)
That's the NEW login: your EMAIL.
I'm sorry I didn't explain it better the first time. I wrote about this so many times to iTunes support reps to prevent them to "read" what their system says that I gave it for settled. (not to mention that my first post was removed because "it lacks of interest for others"
I own an apple ID, given away with the purchase of a new computer (nothing small by the way) and when that happens (and never subscribe for a paid membership), you use ANOTHER email to be related to your account.
Now that AGAIN apple asks you for using your EMAIL (non-apple in our case) instead of your ID (which you can't use or you will never get a notification again!) the system believes there are two accounts.
It's like your credit card bank changing the address for sending the payments. You are STILL paying, but getting a higher rate because their CHANGED the address and the check never arrives.
In this case, signing in with a different string, makes the system believe there are two accounts. And that probably is under the policy which probably states purchases are not charged twice for SAME ID, and SAME iPhone… and you used a different ID, so it must be fair (sarcasm). Who told you to do so? Bad boy!

  • Do you set up two itunes accounts on the same computer for two different people

How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer

  • Creating two iTunes accounts on the same computer

I'm moving in with my girlfriend. She has her own iTunes library on her computer. I have downloaded all my music and applications from my iTunes library on my computer to my iPhone. I want to be able to download all music and applications on my iPhone onto my girlfriend's computer while keeping it separate from her music, apps, etc. This way, we hope to be able to manage her iPod and my iPhone from the same computer without worrying that iTunes will sync my music onto her iPod or that my apps won't get deleted by getting synced with her account.
Is it possible to do this? If so, how? Perhaps this is a dumb question whose answer is right in front of me. But as yet I have been unable to figure out if/how using the online iTunes tutorials. Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.

  • HT1473 Please help! How to put two iTunes accounts on the same computer?

I have an Ipod and my mum has an IPhone. The songs from my IPod are backed up on my computer and we would like to have different music, but both backed up on the same computer. How do i do this without erasing all the music etc that is already on my mums phone?

Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, create a new library, and import her song files to it. Alternatively, create a new user account on the computer, move the song files to a shared area, and then import them.

  • Separating two iTunes accounts on the same computer

I just got an iPad, and my son has all of his iTunes stuff on my computer.  How do I keep our music separate?

The easiest way is to have a separate user account on the computer, from which you can log into iTunes with your AppleID.   Unlicensed content can be shared by both accounts.
One caveat, you can only re-download, auto-download, or use Match for one AppleID per computer, and this can only change every 90 days.

  • Two iTunes accounts under the same name...

I just traded in my 3GS for a 5s (hurrayy!) and I want to get something resolved that's been driving me crazy for years. My daughter has a Iphone 4 and we use the same computer to sync. Oddly enough, when we connect her phone to the itunes account it identifies it as my phone. of course, my phone is id'ed as my phone as well. I'm afraid that all our stuff (photos, music, etc) will get jumbled up so I've made sure she hasn't updated her phone in a while. What can I do to separate the two phones so they are distinct.
    Thanks!

    Hi AmyFL,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If I'm understanding your question, both you and your daughter are using the same Apple ID (which is an email address) for your iTunes Store purchases as well as your iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.?)
Do you have one User Account (iTunes Library) on your computer or separate user accounts?
The article below will explain in more detail ... but it sounds like you need to create an Apple ID for your daughter for iCloud - for her own contacts, calendars, Photo Stream etc.    If your daughter has a different primary email address than you, she can use it for her Apple ID.
If you have made a lot of iTunes Store purchases, she can stay signed in to your current Apple ID to have access to them.   Or she can start fresh with her own Apple ID and purchases.  Please review the information below including the Frequently Asked Questions.
I'm including the steps below based on this scenario.  If your situation is different, or you are not clear about these instructions, contact AppleCare by phone or make an appointment with a Genius at your local retail store.
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895
Click on the link below and then click the "Create an Apple ID" link for your daughter:
    Apple - My Apple ID
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Make sure that the email address she wanst to use for her Apple ID meets these conditions:
The email address is one that she uses regularly, because it will be the primary email address for her Apple ID.
The email address is not associated with any other Apple ID.
The email address is not an iCloud email address, which is already an Apple ID. iCloud email addresses end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
Before you delete the iCloud account from your daughter's iPhone, turn off each of the features ( contacts, calendars, etc. ) and when prompted, choose to "Keep on My iPhone" if she wishes to keep that information.  If she does not want or need any of this, then skip down to the selection below to delete the iCloud account completely.
    Turn iCloud features  off
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then tap to turn off iCloud features.
When you turn off a feature, you’re asked whether you want your device to keep a copy of your information stored in iCloud for that feature.
Once you have saved the contacts, calendars, etc. that you want from the current iCloud account on your daughter's iPhone, then you can delete the current iCloud account from her device.
    Turn off iCloud completely
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
At this point, I would suggest turning off the phone, and restarting it.  Then, tap on Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.  Tap on Add Account.  Tap iCloud.  Now type in your daughter's new Apple ID email address and password.
