Two iTunes accounts, one ipad

Is it possible to have two itunes accounts set up on one iPad.  Husband and I are sharing an iPad and want to know if this can work?

Technically, yes. You can log out of your current ID and log in with his and them download his past purchases.  However you will have to log back into yours when you update your stuff. And when ever you sync it to your computer it will erase his stuff from it.

You would have to sign out of the store with that AppleID and sign in with the alternate AppleID.
Settings -> iTunes & App Stores -> tap the Apple ID showing, logout, then login.
Beware thought that you can only change a device's AppleID association once every 90 days.

So if you do this, you will not be able to use the other AppleID on that device for 90 days.

  • I have two itunes accounts - one i had on my original pc and then one i created with my Mac. Is it possible to add the library from the old iTunes account to my new one

I have two itunes accounts. One is an old one with a substnantial library attached and one is much newer which I created with my new Mac. Is it possible to merge the two libtaries into my new account?

You can merge the two libraries but not the accounts. Each account is a separte entity.
You are likely best to use the older account as that is where a bulk of the purchases are from. If the file is a unprotected purchase then it doesn't matter. If the content is DRM encoded then you will need to authorize your computer to both accounts as needed. All new music purchases are DRM free but video is still DRM encoded.
There is no reason to create a new iTunes or Mac App Store account if you get a new computer.

  • Two iPhones, two iTunes accounts, one computer, different music tastes!

I haven't seen an answer to this question yet, though I have seen a theory. I haven't tried it just yet, but I decided I'd ask if there's an easier way.
Myself and my girlfriend have an iPhone 4, and we both have our own iTunes accounts, with our own purchases. In addition to being able to sync purchased songs from one device to another, my problem is we're both using my laptop. Between the both of us, there's nearly 3500 songs. Not all of the songs she has on her phone I listen to, and vice versa. Is there a way to have seperate libraries, with our own songs checked in iTunes to sync to the desired device? The theory I heard is if there are seperate Windows User Accounts, iTunes will recognize their seperate iTunes libraries. But seeing as this is my personal laptop, and she doesn't use it for anything other than syncing her phone, this isn't completely plausible. Additionally, there's some overlap; we do listen to a bunch of the same stuff. Help?

I would go with selected playlists. However, there are other options as explained in How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • Two iPhones, two iTunes accounts, one PC

Hi. Is it possible to update/back-up two iphones using one PC? We have two iPhones, each with a seperate iTunes accounts, but would like to update the iPhones software using iTunes on one PC.
This has come about because we can't seem to update the software for one of the iPhones using the laptop we normally use for the one iPhone. We've tried everything, but we keep getting an error (no. 9006). I have spoken to Apple, and they say it is my anti-virus software blocking the update. However, I have completely uninstalled the anti-virus software (AVG) and tried the update again. This didn't work either.

Creating a second account in windows would be the easiest way to separate your accounts on one PC.

  • Sync overlap with two Iphones, two ITunes accounts, one computer

How do my wife and I stop getting each other's contacts, calendars and downloaded apps when we sync our Iphones? We have two different ITunes accounts. She logged herself out of her account and then I logged myself into my account, I deleted one of the apps (her downloaded App that synched onto my Iphone) under the App Tab. I logged out of my account then logged into her account - I opened up the App Tab in her account and found the app I had deleted from my account was deleted from her account also...What is going on here? I thought these were two separate accounts? How can I make them separate?
Would be very grateful for assistance in sorting this out.

Sorry for being unclear, when I said "new user account" I meant a new user account on your computer, not a new iTunes account, for example a new Windows user. As a new user you'll get a new, empty iTunes library. And your device will be erased during the first sync.
Apps can only be used with the account you bought them, so you can't share them or use them with a different iTunes account.
To copy your apps and data to the new iTunes before syncing, back up manually, here's how to:
Set up your iTunes account, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • 2 different itunes accounts, one iPad

Is there a way to download content from 2 different itunes accounts onto the same ipad?  I use mine for both school work and personal use.

If you sync the apps to your iPad from the school account rather than download them to the iPad, I think that you should be OK. But I have to admit, I think that will work, I'm not sure that it will work.
So you would have to be logged into the school account in order to sync their Apps to your iPad. You would probably want to do this from the computer at school and you will have to log into the school ID on your iPad in order to do so.
If you were to download the Apps on your home computer using the school ID, you would associate your home computer with the school ID and you don't want to do that either.
But please know that I am not sure how this will work. If you want to give it a go, try from the school computer. I would hope that you would get the warning if it will not work, but I have never down this, so I'm not real sure,

  • Two iTunes accounts, one iMac, two iPhones - want to share apps

My wife and I both have iPhones, and we have our own iTunes accounts. Her phone is first generation, and mine is 3GS.
We have one iMac with a single user on the mac. I have been able to sync both the phones just fine because I have set up both her phone's sync preferences to ignore application sync.
But now we have a situation where I have purchased some app that I want her to be able to use and vice versa. I had read somewhere that Apple now allows the household to share purchased apps.
I am not sure though, how to exactly do it. I have read on these forums that I could go to "Authorize Computer" and then "Transfer All Purchased Content from this iPhone" and I did that with my wife's phone, while I was signed into my iTunes account.
I noticed it was transferring the apps but they do not show under the Applications area.
Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere?

    Allan Sampson wrote:
Not sure where you read this, but a household cannot share apps under the definition you are wanting.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods and/or iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer. Although iTunes music no longer includes DRM protection when purchased, 3rd party apps do include DRM protection, which is tied to the iTunes account used to purchase/download the app.
I tried a quick search but could not find it, but I am sure that either during one of the iPhone OS updates or an iTunes update, it was also revealed that within a household, paid apps can be shared.

  • HT1924 HI can we set an an Italian Itunes account in Australia and have two itunes account one Australian and the other Italian

  • Two iphones, two itunes accounts, one Macbook

    Hi,
My wife and I each just purchased iphones.  We each have our own itunes accounts,  We share a Macbook at home.
We would like to share our music and soon our apps so we don't have to pay twice.  Can we do this and if so, how?
Also, I enabled home sharing as our itunes accounts were originally on different computers. Do I chech the option that says "transfer"?
    Thanks for you help

Because you have separate accounts, if you try & sync her phone to your itunes account, yes ALL itunes content(including apps) will first be erased from her phone & then replaced with the content from your library.
What you can do is this: Put all of the content you want on her phone on your phone, from your account. Sign in to her itunes account, disable auto sync, under preferences. Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC, sign your wife out of her account, sign in to your account , Store>Authorize this Computer, then>File Transfer Purchases(all itunes purchased content on your phone will be transferred to her account, music ripped on your own, won't). For music ripped on your own, use a thumb drive to copy to her account. Once finished, sign out of your account, sign your wife back in & sync what you want to her phone.
I should add, you can share apps, music, etc. between each other using this method both ways: you sharing with your wife, her sharing with you. Sharing of content this way is permitted under the EUSLA.

  • Two Itunes accounts, one German, one USA

Hi, I reside in Germany and set up my itunes account with a German credit card.  I find I can't get access to the American Itunes store, only the German.  Can i set up a new itunes account using an American credit card and still keep my German account active?

In order to use a countrys itunes store you must be physically located inside the borders of that country, have a credit card issued in that country, and a valid billing address in that country.

  • I have two itunes accounts on two different computers, can i merge the accounts so i can then have the same music on both ipod and iphone?

i have two itunes accounts one for each of my two computers, can i merge them so that i can have the same music on my ipod and iphone,
it is all so confusing i need help!!!

You can't currently merge accounts and the content will remain tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it, though you can have more than one account authorised on the same computer's iTunes via Store > Authorise This Computer. As only one account can be actually logged in at a time (Store > Sign In / Sign Out) for purchasing or re-downloading/viewing past purchases, you may want to use just the one account for future purchases.
