Two iTunes music libraries on one computer

Currently my iTunes library is on my work computer. I want to switch to my home computer, which already has my son's iTunes account and library that he synchs his iPod to. Can I add my account/library separate from his so our music and content don't mix? How?

  • How to run two iTunes match libraries on one computer

Does anybody have a work around?
I want to set another library with another itunes match for a friend of mine and sync his music since he doesn't have a interenet connection where he lives.
When I created another library and tried to turn match on under his itunes account it came up with an error stating that this computer is associated with another match account and i wouldn't be able to do any downloads or something for 90 days if I changed the computer to another apple id.
Anybody else tried to do this?
Is this apples way of keeping us from giving other people our music?

If you own a mac and you have paralles then that is the answer.
I knew there had to be a way to do this on a mac.
Don't know the answer for PCs yet though.

  • Is there a way to have two iTunes music libraries: a library on my computer and a shared library on a NAS server (cloud box)?

I would like to know if I can have two iTunes music libraries: a library on my computer and a shared library on a NAS server (LaCie CloudBox). I want to have some music files on my computer and a larger collection of songs with cover art on a shared CloudBox (NAS server) so that also my family members can listen to the music on the Cloudbox. Is there a way to do this?
I know I could just copy the music files to the CloudBox, but that way only the songs are shared, not the cover art. I could also just keep the files on my computer and share the library via home sharing, but that way my computer would have to be always on. So is there a way to have a shared library on the cloudbox that works regardless of my computer being on or not?
    Thanks,
    Jay

Try homesharing. I am not sure if this will keep them seprate but this is really close to what you are looking for.http://www.apple.com/itunes/inside-itunes/2010/01/sharing-itunes-libraries-at-ho me.html

  • How to combine two iTunes Music Libraries?

    So,
I keep two different iTunes Music libraries on an external store like an Time Capsule's share.
The problem I have is that iTunes Helper constantly resets it's Music Location back to the home folder instead of the network path where the actual iTunes Music directory is. This is one of the more annoying features of iTunes.
What I find is that the actual Library stores the path to the files ie. /Volumes/TC/iTunes Music/Directory/filename.mp3
Well the problem is that occasionally the actual mount /Volumes/TC is claimed by a root process and the Finder or disk abritration creates /Volumes/TC-1 for the user with the users permissions and consequently the paths in the iTunes Music Library are no longer valid because iTunes cannot access the file thru /Volumes/TC
So how else can you combine or provide a single iTunes Music Library with the ability to access music that actually exists in multiple iTunes Music Location's without depending on the actual name of the mount point?

Sorry it's the next day, I had to get off of my computer. Yes, you will have to pick a location. I would put it in the iTunes folder, or wherever you need it.
But if you've got all of the music you want to show up in your iTunes library, export it and put it iTunes folder (under music). Hopefully that should do it.
I had a similar problem once, but I solved it by simply dragging all of my music from several different computers (via network connection) to the iTunes music folder. After that if they didn't show up in iTunes I simply hit import and brought them in.

  • Can there be two itunes librarys on the one computer?

I am giving my PC to my parents and we will share it for a few months until I get myself a laptop. Both my mother and I have ipods and we both have separate itunes libraries. Is it possible to have both the separate libraries on the one computer - I guess under our separate user names and it not interfere with each others library? Will opening itunes under our separate usernames bring up the correct libaray?
    Thanks

Yes you can have more than one library. The simplest thing is to have two separate user accounts then things are kept entirely separate:

  • Can you move iTunes music/playlist from one computer to another?

I have 2 computers. My original computer is a desktop that I originally put iTunes on. It's an emachine with windows XP. Currently it is not hooked up to the internet because we have wireless in the house. I am currently using an Acer laptop so I can access the internet. I just bought an iPod and was going to sync my music from the other computer but my iTunes is not a 9 or greater so I can't sync it. So is there anyway to move the iTunes from one computer to the other? Or what would be the best way to sync the music I have.

I have the same problem as DarkHorse08. I am in the course of moving to a new computer and I have lots of files on my old computer. Both use Windows XP Professional. I want to transfer all my I tunes files to the new computer prior to abandoning the old one. The obvious way to me would be to save a copy of the Library to an external backup drive and then import the files to the new computer. However the program will not allow you to do this - you can only copy to a cd/dvd drive and there is no command to allow you to substitute an external drive such as a backup disk. If you use instead the command Library - Export you can export to a named destination drive such as an external drive but all that is transferred is an XML document file called Library which only has in my own case 2.5mb of data - less than the Library contents.
Apple's suggested route of Sharing is based on setting up a local network - not a serious proposition for most users.
    All in all very unsatisfactory.
Unless I am missing something or have got something wrong....
    Suggestions welcome.

  • How do I determine what folder my library is attached to if I have two iTunes music folders on my computer?

I am trying to backup my music to an external backup disc. The problem is that I have two iTunes folders on my computer. So I need to determine which is the correct folder to backup. Please help.

Run iTunes, select any track, and Get Info on it (File menu). On the Summary page it will show you the path to the file which will tell you the correct folder. This of course presumes that your iTunes library isn't split between two folders, which is entirely possible, so you may wish to check more than a single track.
    Regards.

  • Multiple itunes accounts/libraries on one computer

We currently have only one ipod (shuffle) in our family for my 12 year old. Her itunes account is in my folder on our only internet connected computer. My younger daughter is buying her own shuffle and I would like to create a separate library and account for her. Is is possible to have separate Itunes libraries for different users on a Windows XP computer?

while in your profile (where her musci is) open C:/Documents and Settings. find the folder for her profile and open it. then there should be another documents folder in there with her name. open that then go to her music folder in there, and then itunes folder, and drag and drop it from where its at under your profile into that folder.

  • How do I move iTunes music content from one computer to another?

I need to move iTunes content from an older MacBook, which serves as the music source for our audio system, to a new Mac mini, which will now do the same.
I know to move the folder in the music folder but I would like to make certain the playlists are moved in conjunction with the move so I don't have to recreate the playlists on the new mini.
I can't find any information on how to do this in the faqs, in the Take Control books, or the latest system manuals.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Two Libraries on one computer? Is this possible?

Hi- I am helping my parents get their ipods up and running. Is it possible to have two ipods/separate libraries on one computer? If so, do I need to download itunes 7 twice? My dad already has his library up and running on the computer and I need to add my mom's. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

Apologies to all concerned for this threadjacking. I'll make it brief and be on my way.

  • HT202213 Two Itunes libraries on one computer.  Any way to share content between the two libraries?

We have 2 ITunes libraries on one computer.  Is there a way to share movies, music, etc. between the two libraries?

To your second question, probably the easiest way is to set up another user account on your machine. Then when that user opens iTunes, it will be a new library (empty) that they can put anything they want into, and not corrupt your library.
With another user account, they can also customize their own desktop photo, desktop icons, etc. so lots of benefits doing it that way. Works out great for me and my 13 year old daughter so I don't have to see the latest Emo band hearthrob's face on my desktop.

  • I have two different itunes music files on my computer.  How do I combine them into one file?

I have two different itunes music files on my computer.  How do I combine them into one file?

I don't think so. The only other ID I have is a developer id, and I didn't get that until several months after I got the phone. In addition purchases I made from the App Store onthe phone would sync up with It unes on the Mac meaning it would be the same id.
However I looked at the AppStore on my phone while it was connected to the Mac with iTunes open, and now the balance has changed to the same as the others.
