Two localizations of the same Best Practice on one instance on the same client

Hi Gurus -
I have a situation where I need to install the Food & Beverage Best Practice for more than one localization on the same instance.  This company has locations in more than one country and needs Best Practices for those countries.  Is it possible, for example, to install Best Practice F&B for US and Best Practice F&B for Germany on the same client on the same instance?  If so, how?  Also is there any documentation on this?

Jim McCollum

  • Best practice for multiple instances of the same BEX query

    Hi there,
    I'm wondering what's the best way to use multiple instances of the same BEX query. Let me explain what I mean:
    I have a dashboard with different queries feeding different period of time such as: week to date, month to date and so on. One query for each since it is based on a user exit.
    For each query I want to show different data in different sections of my dashboard. Per example: sales per directors or sales per customer group, sales per day, sales per week and the like.I tried to connect a simple bar chart via a direct connection but with no success due to the multiple lines generated by the addition of the sales director, customer group, week number and so on.
    My question is about the way to connect the different queries efficiently in order to show the different data while avoiding multiple useless lines.
    The image above shows the query browser where, per example, for a Month to date query there will be mutiple line for each week as well as one line for each director. If, for two different components, I want to show data per week and data per director or other representation what is the best practice:
    Add another instance of the same query and only put the week information and another one will only the director info?
    Should I bind those to the excel file and use formulas to make final calculations?
    Will there be a performance issues for adding different instances of the same query
    I have 6 different queries (read 6 user exit that filters time via user exit).
    Depending on the best practices there might be 4 instances for each for a total of 24 instances in the query browser.
    I hope my question is clear enough, if not please do not hesitate I'll clarify as much as possible.
    Regards,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
    Might be trying for solution for a long time, If i understood your question clear let me clarify you few points.
    You are trying to access the bex query which is designed with the exit's in the background based on the logic and trying to call the entire dimensions and key-figures in a single connection. Then you are trying to map those data in the charts.
    Steve, try to make more connections based upon the logic and split them. use the same query but split them by sales per customer group, sales per day, sales per week by making three different connections and try. You can merge the prompts from all connections.
    Hope this Helps!!!
    Sorry if i misunderstood your question.

  • Two ssl users from same client machine

    Hi all,
    We are using oracle database 10.2.0.3 EE and have a ssl user set up from the app server to the database based on metalink note 736510.1. That being said I have been asked to create another ssl user but how is that possible. I tried in the database but came back with:
    ORA-28026: user with same external name already exists
    So I created a second wallet for the second user but is it possible to define two wallet locations in the oracle client sqlnet.ora file? I can point the location to either but is it possible for two.
    Here is what is in client sqlnet.ora file:
    WALLET_LOCATION =
    (SOURCE =
    (METHOD = FILE)
    (METHOD_DATA =
    (DIRECTORY = /path1/ssl)
    How can I tell it to also check for the other (i.e. /path2/ssl)? Any ideas for this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Troy

    Hello Troy;
    There is a restriction that a single SQLNET.ORA file can contain only one entry of WALLET_LOCATION or ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION.
    This notes explains how to get by that restriction :
    How To Maintain Multiple Wallets For A Single Database Instance [ID 759226.1]
    I think you can do something like this too, so in theory you can use an alias.
    ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION=
      (SOURCE = (METHOD = HSM)
         (METHOD_DATA =
           (DIRECTORY = /etc/ORACLE/WALLETS/<$ORACLE_SID>)))Best Regards

  • Best practice DNS in VPN environment for Lync2013 clients

    So I do have those site2site VPNs to connect the small branch offices to the main office. Internal DNS makes sure, that the branch offices can acess all the servers/services in the main office with their domain.local namespace.
    In such a scenario will the Lync2013 clients connect through the VPN to the internal sites due to both lyncdiscover and lyncdiscoverinternal being available?
    Wouldn't it cause way less burden on the VPN routers if clients would simply go out to the internet and connect from the external side so all the Lync traffic does not have to be stuffed through the VPN pipe? I dont see the point to encrypt the traffice
    once more.
    Thanks for your suggestions about best practices!
    HST

      Hi,
    When users connect to the corporate network using a VPN client, Lync media traffic is sent through the VPN tunnel. This configuration can create additional latency and jitter because media traffic must pass through an additional layer of encryption and
    decryption. The issue is compounded when the VPN concentrator is busy.
    If you want to connect Lync server from public network you need to deploy an Edge server.
    The solution to force VPN traffic through the Edge Servers must allow external Lync clients connected through VPN, you can refer to the part of "Solution Configuration" in the link below:

  • Need best practice to deploy similar content to multiple clients with specific skins/images

    Hello, my name is Bernadette. When I was with a previous employer for several years I created WebHelp using RoboHelp 8. Then, the last two years I worked there I transitioned to MadCap Flare again creating WebHelp. I have been with a new employer two years now, using RoboHelp again. However, this company still has us creating HTML Help only. My manager has just assigned me to create and launch our first WebHelp project. Currently, we have RoboHelp 8, with a P.O. in process to purchase version 9 hopefully very soon. However, I cannot wait and have just started the project using version 8.  Since it's been a few years, I am a tad rusty in my use of RoboHelp/WebHelp. For this first project, I have been asked to customize the skin for EACH client that transitions to the new proprietary application. My question is, since it is likely that the contents of the completed WebHelp project will be identical (with the exception of the customized customer-specific skins, logos and window images) is there a creative, timesaving method for rolling out primarily the same content to each customer WITHOUT the need for me to maintain numerous, individual WebHelp projects?  I so appreciate any input or suggestions. Thank you!

    Hello Peter and Jeff, there IS the potential for eventually reaching a HUGE number of customers, but I would expect that to take at least a good number of months or beyond to get to that stage. As for Peter's question about variables, I have used conditional build tags in the past, which I know is a variable, but I am not certain what else might be included in the category.
    I was not aware that it is possible, within a single project, to create and maintain different versions of the same layout type, namely WebHelp by creating  duplicates for each customer. This could be challenging, but fun! So, as I get further into this I assume you are both "on call" for additional questions? Thank you both so much for your rapid responses.

  • Best practices for one account's users to get new accounts?

    After eight years of sharing my iTunes account, my kids are moving out into the real world.  How would/should they get their "own" iTunes accounts?  They will want to buy their own music with their own money (without Dad's payment info) but of course want to be able to continue to play all the music they've bought over the years on my account.  What is the best way to accomplish this?

    Well, I've been trying this for a while. By my calculations, at this rate, installing all the applications one by one and trying to restore all the data manually will take me about six years. I would finished just in time for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
    The main problem is, I don't know where all the bodies are buried. Just one example, I'm using Cornerstone for an svn client. I have working copies of multiple repositories on my computer. I really don't want to set them all up again, and I can't figure out where the Cornerstone preferences and all settings are stored. I couldn't find them in the Library anywhere.
    And that's just one case.
    I haven't done much with my MacBook Pro yet, I think in retrospect the easiest course of action is to reinstall OS X as though it were new MacBook Pro, start from scratch, and use my Time Machine backup with the migration assistant and go from there.
    And that's what I'm doing right now. I'm in the middle of reinstalling OS X.
    Afterwords I'll use a clean app uninstaller application to get rid of all the applications that I'm not using. And I'll just hack away at directories that I know I haven't looked at for years, with the confidence that I have a backup both in Time Machine and in CCC and also on my iMac. That's three backups.
    I would rather start out "light", but I can see it's just going to take forever and a day to get it done. Anyway, fortunately nothing is carved in stone, and I can always try again if I want to. But dealing with all the documents and all the applications one by one separately was just obviously going to take too much time.
    I'll report back on my results. And I appreciate your suggestion.
    Doug

  • [CS4-CS5] Table from XML: what's the best practice?

    Hi,
    I have to build a huge table (20-25 pages long...) from an XML file.
    No problem with that, I wrote a XSLT file to convert my client's XML in the "Table/Cell structure" InDesign needs with all style parameters.
    The problem is that it takes a long time (4-5 hours) to ID to build the whole table.
    I wonder if this is still the best practice with such a huge amount of data (the input XML is 1,1 Mb).
    I also tried to build the table using a script (JavaScript) but from some time test I can see the problem is even bigger.
    I'm currently using an iMac (Mac OS X 10.6.2) with 3.06 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo and 8 GB ram, it's not exactly the worst computer in this world...
    Is there a best practice for this kind of work?
    Client is becoming a pain in the arse...
    Thanks in advance!

    First transform the XML through XSLT seprately and then Import that XML in InDesign.
    Hope it help.

  • Suggest the Best Practice for Procurement of Commodities like crude, copper

    Dear Gurus,
    Please suggest the best practice for following business Process.
    My client is having the procurement need for a comodity whose prices are fluctuating. Say Crude Oil . The prices are changing every day. Now The client would like to pay to vendor on day of good receipt. But it may be possible that the price on GR day is much higher. How to control these kind of procurement. Presently I have activated the price variance through invoice posting but this is not working.
    Can you suggest best practice for  procurement of comodities.
    Thank you for your consistant support.

    Hi Vinod,
    Would you know the price by the time the GR is to happen, in this case you can ask the vendor to send the confirmations, just prior to that with the correct price.
    Please refer this link

  • Which wayis the best practice ?

    Hi ,
    I am doubt of which way is the best practice to initialize instance component in a Panel.
    ie .is there any diference, in terms of performance , between initializing component inside the constructor or just outside of constructor?
    1)
    public class MyPanel extends JPanel
    private static JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane();
    public CustomerTaskPane()
    2)
    public class MyPanel extends JPanel
    private static JScrollPane scrollPane = null;
    public CustomerTaskPane()
    scrollPane = new JScrollPane()
    }

    Correction for the above reply.
    *btw can i avoid from declaring the static field of a class itself when i need to implement the class which follows Singleton pattern like.
    public class CustomerMainPanel extends JPanel
    public static CustomerMainPanel customerMainPanel = null;
    public static synchronized CustomerMainPanel getInstance()
    if( customerMainPanel == null )
    customerMainPanel = new CustomerMainPanel();
    return customerMainPanel;
    }

  • Best Practice: Sharing Action Task

    My application has two Action implementations. One is "SaveAs" which shows a JFileChooser and then saves to file using SwingWorker to keep GUI responsive. The other is "Exit" which does exactly the same (but only if the lokal document is "dirty") and terminates the application after that. It works pretty well.
    But it is not nice that 90% of the code is duplicated, so the question is, what is the best practice?
    One could imagine a lot of possible solutions, like:
    - Exit extends SaveAs, or both extending a common super class. Technically right, but rather strange: What shall that super class be named besides a synthetical "ExitAndSaveAsSuperClass"...?
    - Exit calls SaveAs and passes a parameter telling SaveAs to exit after SwingWorker is finished. Technically possible, but horizontal calls always have a bad smell of SpaghettiCode.
    - Exit and SaveAs both have no own code besides telling a third class to do the work. Looks like a good separation of Action and Task. But looks like breaking a butterfly on a wheel.
    - etc.
    So what I like to know is not whether anybody has any more ideas or what anybody thinks about the above ideas. My question actually is whether there has been emerged a "best practice" for this problem (sharing of Action Task)? I mean, Swing is around for decades now so I assume that there are lots of best practices existing, but I just did not found them so far on the web...?

    Perhaps refactor the common save-as functionality in a method of the class, and have the two listeners both use it.

  • Standby best practices

    Hi,
    1. Primary and Standby databases should be on different servers.
    2. The version of the OS of the primary and standby database should be the same.
    I know these two points are logical and best practices. Now my management wants to implement the setup on different flavours of AIX (5.3 and 6.1). I have already tried to convince that above two points are best practices, but they require some oracle documentation where it is mentioned.
    I tried searching some authentic documents, but couldn't locate. Has anybody some document to support the above two points?

  • Best practice for if/else when one outcome results in exit [Bash]

    I have a bash script with a lot of if/else constructs in the form of
    if <condition>
    then
    <do stuff>
    else
    <do other stuff>
    exit
    fi
    This could also be structured as
    if ! <condition>
    then
    <do other stuff>
    exit
    fi
    <do stuff>
    The first one seems more structured, because it explicitly associates <do stuff> with the condition.  But the second one seems more logical because it avoids explicitly making a choice (then/else) that doesn't really need to be made.
    Is one of the two more in line with "best practice" from pure bash or general programming perspectives?

    I'm not sure if there are 'formal' best practices, but I tend to use the latter form when (and only when) it is some sort of error checking.
    Essentially, this would be when <do stuff> was more of the main purpose of the script, or at least that neighborhood of the script, while <do other stuff> was mostly cleaning up before exiting.
    I suppose more generally, it could relate to the size of the code blocks.  You wouldn't want a long involved <do stuff> section after which a reader would see an "else" and think 'WTF, else what?'.  So, perhaps if there is a substantial disparity in the lengths of the two conditional blocks, put the short one first.
    But I'm just making this all up from my own preferences and intuition.
    When nested this becomes more obvious, and/or a bigger issue.  Consider two scripts:
    if [[ test1 ]]
    then
    if [[ test2 ]]
    then
    echo "All tests passed, continuing..."
    else
    echo "failed test 2"
    exit
    fi
    else
    echo "failed test 1"
    fi
    if [[ ! test1 ]]
    then
    echo "failed test 1"
    exit
    fi
    if [[ ! test2 ]]
    then
    echo "failed test 2"
    exit
    fi
    echo "passed all tests, continuing..."
    This just gets far worse with deeper levels of nesting.  The second seems much cleaner.  In reality though I'd go even further to
    [[ ! test1 ]] && echo "failed test 1" && exit
    [[ ! test2 ]] && echo "failed test 2" && exit
    echo "passed all tests, continuing..."
    edit: added test1/test2 examples.

  • SAP CRM V1.2007 Best Practice

    Hello,
    we are preparing the installation of a new CRM 2007 system and we want to have a good demo system.
    We are considering too options;
    . SAP CRM IDES
    . SAP CRM Best Practice
    knwoing that we have an ERP 6.0 IDES system we want to connect to.
    The Best Practice seems to have a lot of preconfigured scenarios that will not be available in the IDES system (known as the "SAP all in one").
    How can we start the automatic installation of the scenarios (with solution builder) connecting to the ERP IDES system?
    Reading the BP Quick guide, it is mentioned that in order to have the full BP installation we need to have a ERP system with another Best Practice package.
    Will the pre customized IDES data in ERP be recognized in CRM?
    In other words, is the IDES master data, transactional data and organizational structure the same as the Best Practice package one?
    Thanks a lot in advance for your help
    Benoit

    Thanks a lot for your answer Padma Guda,
    The difficult bit in this evaluation is that we don't know exactly the
    difference between the IDES and the Best Practice. That is to say,
    what is the advantage to have a CRM Best Practice connected to an ERP
    IDES as opposed to a CRM IDES system connected to a ERP IDES system?
    As I mentioned, we already have an ERP IDES installed as back end system.
    I believe that if we decide to use the ERP IDES as the ERP back end, we will loose some of the advantage of having an ERP Best practice connected to an CRM best practice e.g. Sales area already mapped and known by the CRM system, ERP master data already available in CRM, transactional data already mapped, pricing data already mapped etc.
    Is that righ? Or do we have to do an initial load of ERP in all cases?

  • Best practice for maintaining URLs between Dev, Test, Production servers

    We sometimes send order confirmations which include links to other services in requestcenter.
    For example, we might use the link <href="http://#Site.URL#/myservices/navigate.do?query=orderform&sid=54>Also see these services</a>
    However, the service ID (sid=54) changes between our dev, test, and production environments.  Thus we need to manually go through notifications when we deploy between servers.
    Any best practices out there?

    Your best practice in this instance depends a bit on how much work you want to put into it at the front end and how tied to the idea of a direct link to a service you are.
    If your team uses a decent build sheet and migration checklist then updating the various URL’s can just be part of the process. This is cumbersome but it’s the least “technical” solution if you want to continue using direct links.
    A more technical solution would be to replace your direct links with links to a “broker page”. It’s relatively simple to create an asp page that can accept the name of the service as a parameter and then execute an SQL query against the DB to return the ServiceID, construct the appropriate link and pass the user through.
    A less precise, but typically viable, option would be to use links that take advantage of the built in search query functionality. Your link might display more results than just one service but you can typically tailor your search query to narrow it down. For example:
    If you have a service called Order New Laptop or Desktop and you want to provide a link that will get the user to that service you could use: http://#Site.URL#/RequestCenter/myservices/navigate.do?query=searchresult&&searchPattern=Order%20New%20Desktop%20or%20Laptop
    The above would open the site and present the same results as if the user searched for “Order New Desktop or Laptop” manually. It’s not as exact as providing a direct link but it’s quick to implement, requires no special technical expertise and would be “environment agnostic”.

  • Content filters based on Group Best Practice

    What is best practice for Content filters based on Group.
    What we wanna accomplish.
    We have few groups but i'll make an example on two.
    We have one group that have allowed "Media" and another group that have allowed "Exe".
    What is best practice if one user is in both group.
    How would you do Content filtering?
    I dont see in Content filtering condition
    if (Envelope Recipient does not mach group) then Block.
    Is the best way to create first?
    If (attachment.type="Media") then (insert header="sometext);
    and after in Content filter below
    if (Envelope Recipient) and (Header does not contain "sometext") then Block.

    Hi,
    I understand that I will have to use BPM. What is the best way?
