Two macs, one can connect to iPhone update server, one cannot

We have multiple macs and iphones in the house. One mac can connect to the iphone update server without any problems. the other cannot. Both are on the same network. Both have identical firewall settings. One mac can manually download the iphone update file; the other cannot. Anyone have any idea what could be keeping the other mac from connecting to the download server? The other mac has no network problems with any other sites, only Apple's download server.
Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Software Update is not offering me any Airport updates on the G4 (or the Intel).
The recent Airport Update, "AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001", is of course only for Intel Macs.
They could only be "trying to use the same IP address" if they were not configured to use DHCP, but they are configured to use DHCP, and whichever connects does get an address in the 10.0.1.[2-200] range so I think that's not the problem.

There is no problem with the internet connection, and all other things seem to load properly.

Try out the following steps. Usually step 1 will resolve the issue:
Update iTunes to the latest version.

When downloading, I am never connected to the update server. It will say it is connecting, but nothing else happens.

I will get a pop-up message that I need to update Firefox. I click the button, and it says it is 'connecting to the update server'. It never connects, because nothing else happens. Even after an hour or two, it is still 'connecting to the update server'. If it matters, I am on a Mac.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

All I can tell you is that I am having the exact same problem with an iPod Touch and that I was running iTunes 9.2.1.5 at the time it happened. Upgraded to 10.0.0.68 hoping that it might help, but no joy.
I don't want to do a restore just now since the Touch seems to be working fine. Restore will have to wait until I have plenty of free time in case something goes wrong.

make sure it's not being connected to by any of the other two
one can only connect 1 device at the time and just by waking up sometimes a headset connects to a device

then forget the bluetooth device in OS X and put the headset in pairing mode / discovery mode and connect with it once again with the mac

Unable to connect to network iphone update server

I have an Iphone 4 that has been slow for a couple of days , today it started to open app different apps ( click on one and another opened) so i decided to restore and update it . Was running 4.3 . It never updated , has locked in recovery mode . when i try to restore i get a message that the iphone update server network unable to connect . I am running 10.5 itunes on a windows 7 . the iphone is visible in itunes , but when i check the diagnostic it said there is now iOS device connected . Is this a software issue or a hardware issue ? any help would be appreciated .

I cannot 'Restore' iPhone 3G to pass on to my fiance, after she kindly allowed me to get a new iPhone4 because iTunes 'cannot connect to iphone update software server'. Right, I'm going to try something, if this works, then this'll probably fix a lot of iTunes problems.
1: Make sure your whole iTunes database is backed up.
2: Uninstall iTunes, then run "Revo Uninstaller", this will remove ALL traces of iTunes from you computer, not your library.
I've found out that when un-installing or re-installing over a previous version of iTunes will carry over some problems from previous versions, or even create problems. Registry leftovers can be a problem also. Completely removing iTunes using "Revo Uninstaller" then re-installing will have the same effect as installing iTunes from a fresh OS install. Typically iTunes should be problem free when installed totally fresh.
3: Re-install the correct version of iTunes fresh and try again.

Internet is working fine for everything else. Updating to 10.6.8 and applying all the security updates and patches [directly downloading from the apple website] has not resolved the issue. I have a similar problem. I took my iMac to an Apple Store to have the guys at the Genius Bar troubleshoot a problem. They checked out my iMac, and suggested I do an Archive and Install when I got home. Result - the problem was fixed! But it wiped out 10.5.1, 10.5.2, and 10.5.3. I'm internet-limited for large downloads, so I returned to the Apple Store with my iMac and asked them if they could download 10.5.1 through 10.5.3, which they did. But now I have tried to download 10.5.4 and I always get this message: "Software Update can't find the update server. Make sure you're connected to the internet, then try again." [I am connected to the internet.]
I ran the Network Diagnostics: Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings, ISP, and Internet all have the green "dot." But Server has a red "dot" and says Failed (underneath it). Yes. However this is the process I should have recommened. Remove the plist as mentioned about then restart the computer in Safe Mode and then try Software Update in Safe Mode. Once done then restart normally. A Safe Mode restart will clear some caches, it's possible one has become corrupt.
