Two mobileme accounts on one ipod

Hi all, what I'm going to ask got an airing here : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2620155&tstart=0 but that was iPad, not iPod. I want to use 2 mobileme accounts on the same iPod. One's mine, the other is my spouse's, which is a - don't know what you'd call it, sub-account??, i.e. there's only one mobileme membership. This all works fine on our Mac computers Mail client. When we can't get to that, we can still access our mails via the mobileme website, but using the same password. Password's not an issue. Not sure how the ipod mail client will behave or how to set up 2 accounts. Any advice? TIA, Terry.

Well, there is a differene between cabled syncing (over iTunes in regular data syncing) and OTA syncing (latter one used by MobileMe to use Push Sync).
Mail does not copy actual mails to the device and back, that is done via the mail server (if supported, what is done by MobileMe with IMAP).
What I don't know is stuff like MobileMe calendars and contacts and so on.
Maybe it keeps the data separate while syncing (so your cals are synced to your account and the 2nd cal to the 2nd account); but maybe they're shared.
It's all based on the fact that the iPod is a single-user device and not meant to support multiple users... quite ironic considering that iOS technically supports multiple users as a UNIX system

  • Can I load two Apple Accounts on one iPod?

    We have two Apple products (MacPro and iMac 2.0) so we both have iTunes accounts. We share an iPod (Video 30GB 5th gen) and want to put things from both accounts onto the one iPod. Can we? and how???
    I know the short answer is to buy another iPod but is there any way to use more than one account to upload into the iPod?
    *also can one iPod be used on more than one computer for content? Now we share by our drop folders in the "Share" folder after we have authenticated the iMac iTunes for both our accounts. It works so far but it would be nice to know if we can use both computers to update the one iPod... are we the only ones with this situation?

    1. Yes. You can transfer content purchased from up to five iTunes store accounts onto a single iPod.
    2. Yes. See this article for instructions.

  • Help, I have two Itunes accounts, and one ipod.

    I downloaded Itunes on a friends computer and purchased a bunch if songs. When I tried to get my tunes onto my laptop, the message came up "the owners I-pod is linked to another itunes library. Do you want to change it (or something like that)?" The problem is that i've bought all of these songs but they don't show up when I hook the ipod up to my laptop. I even deleted the Itunes and ipod from my friends computer. I still cannot put the songs into my library without erasing them. How can I get my songs back onto my my laptop without having to purchase them again?

    You need to switch your iPod to manual update so you can safely connect it without having your existing library erased. When you connect your iPod you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual.
    You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
    There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
    There are also a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • Questions about syncing multiple MobileMe accounts on one iPad

    You can set up multiple MobileMe accounts; however, only one MobileMe account at a time can be used for Find My iPad and for syncing contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes. (iPad User Guide p. 32)
    Okay.
    If you've done this already (created multiple MobileMe accounts on your iPad), can you please tell me how syncing two accounts to one device works in practice?
    What prevents the merging of contacts and calendars between two MobileMe accounts and one instance of the Calendar and Contacts apps?
    As a matter of functionality, and assuming there is a way to avoid merging this information, how does one access separate calendars and contacts from separate MobileMe accounts in the Calendar and Contact apps?
    Thanks!

  • I have two iTunes accounts on one computer.  Is it possible to share between the two?  If so, how do I do it?

    I have two ITunes accounts on one computer.  One is a classic iPod, the other is for a Nano with a different user.  Is it possible to "share" playlists?  If so, how do I go about doing that?

    videoDVD is a delivery format, normally end of the of the road...
    but, you can convert dvds into something editable, you need 3rd party tools, your options are, in recommended order:
    * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    * Apple mpeg2 plugin (20$) + Streamclip (free)
    * Cinematize >60$
    * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    * Toast6/7 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
    * connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter

  • HT201269 can i have two itunes accounts on one computer

    can i have two itunes accounts on one computer

    Hello Barry
    It is a yes and no answer. Yes you can but you cannot have them in the same iTunes library or one of the accounts cannot be associated for 90 days. You would need to have either a separate user or separate iTunes library to have both Apple ID’s on the same computer.

    How can I have two itunes accounts on one computer?

    Not sure what you mean.
    An account is a user name and password.
    Sign into whichever account you want to use for purchasing.
    Authorize the computer for both account to listen to the content.

    How can I combine two itunes accounts into one?

    Items purchased from the iTunes Store are permanently associated with the account from which they were originally purchased.  Apple provides no way to change this.
    However, if you wish to put content from two accounts into a single iTunes library, you can easily do so.  Use the command File > Add File (or Folder) to Library.

  • How can my wife and I use our two iTunes account on one iPad

    How can my wife and I use our two iTunes accounts on one IPad

    Unfortunately it will be difficult. iPads are personal devices like phones and done have credentials. You can of course log out of and into the app store to download purchased apps but the iPad will then have all the apps of both your wife and you (though you could put these into folders I guess).

  • I would like the share an iTunes library between two different accounts on one Mac. How do I do this?

    iTunes no longer works properly (aka at all) while using one of the user accounts set up on my iMac. It does, however, work when logging in under another user account on the same iMac. (if any of you can help me solve this issue that would be perfect). If there is no solution can anyone help with my request to share an iTunes library between two different accounts on one Mac. How do I do this?

    that works for anything he purchases after he creates the new account.  What about his current music that currently resides in my itunes library?  How can I get his current music out of my library into his new account/library??  Thanks..
    Copy it to his computer into his iTunes library and authorize his computer with the iTunes account used to purchase them..
    You cannot tranfser items from one iTunes account to another. Purchased items remain part of the iTunes account is was purchased with.
    iTunes account - used to purchase items
    iTunes library - where purchases (and CD RIPs) go on the computer

  • We have two iTunes accounts on one computer. Why is my music, apps, etc showing in my husbands account? home sharing is not selected

    We have two iTunes accounts on one computer. Why is my music, apps, etc showing in my husbands account? Home sharing is NOT selected. This recently became an issue when we added additional devices. Now we keep getting each other's apps!

    He intentado creando nuevas cuentas y desinstalando iTunes y volviendolo a instalar.
    Favor de orientarme en la solucion adecuada para el asunto comentado anteriormente.

    I have a personal iTunes account set up on my laptop, but I need to create an account for my school. Can I have two iTunes accounts on one computer?

    I think you can. But issues can happen when you sync, transfer, and back-up with itunes on computer.

  • HT5620 How can I set up two separate accounts on one iPad?

    How can I set up two separate accounts on one shared iPad?

    The iPad is meant to be a single user device.
    It is possible to use multiple ID's on an iOS device, but when you switch ID's and download content with another ID, you associate the device with that ID for 90 days and lock yourself out of the other ID for that 90 day period.
    So while it is possible, it's not advisable.

    There is currently no way to merge accounts.  The best option is to pick one, and use it consistantly.
