Two MobileMe calendars show in iCal

After transiting MobileMe to iCloud, my iCal on iMac shows two MobileMe calendar categories.
But my iCal on MacBook Air shows one MobileMe calendar category, and one iCloud calendar category.
Why are there two different results on Mac OS X Lion?

iCal is still referencing your MobileMe account in addition to iCloud's interface.
Whatever you do, don't try to delete the MobileMe individual calendars directly in the Calendars button in iCal!  The action will replicate to your iCloud account and destroy them as well. I learned this the hard way.
To correct your issue, perfom the following steps:
Open iCal's preferences
Click on Accounts
You'll see at least two accounts including one for iCloud and your MobileMe account.
Highlight the MobileMe account, then click the minus sign to remove the account (this will leave your iCloud accounts in tact.)
Cheers!

  • Can you create 1 event in two different calendars?

    Hi All,
I want to create an event and have it go to two different calendars all in iCal. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for your help.

In  SL you can select the event, go to edit > copy then click on another calendar date and do an edit >paste and click on a third calendar and paste it again if you wish.

  • Subscribed calendars "Show Calendar On MobileMe" not available

Anyone know why the "Show Calendar On MobileMe" option is available on some webcal://ical.me.com based subscribed calendars but not others?
For example, in my iCal, two subscribed calendars originating from the same MobileMe user (URL webcal://ical.me.com/{username}/{calendarName}.ics) allow the "Show Calendar On MobileMe" option. Yet another subscribed calendar originating from another MobileMe user (URL webcal://ical.me.com/{anotherUsername}/{anotherCalendarName}.ics), does not offer the "Show Calendar On MobileMe" option.
Am running MacOS 10.5.8 (iCal 3.0.8). I, too, have a MobileMe account, btw.
    Thanks for any help!

I seem to be having the same problem with repeated appointments:
I have an appointment with a start date of Tue 2nd Sept and an end date of Wed 3rd (created on iphone).
On mobileme.com it appears on Thursday 4th as well.
The appointment appears correctly in iCal (synced through mobileme, not iTunes).
Looks like a bug to me.

  • Mobileme cals not showing in ical

i have synced all my stuff with mobileme and it is working mobileme to iphone. however, my calendars are not showing in ical. i thought that the mobileme cals would be listed in ical but its not happening. i have tried many times to resync etc but cannot get them to show in ical.

Have you upgraded to the new MobilMe calendar? If not you should have as the old syncing method will be turned off tomorrow. Settings in System Preferences>MobileMe>Sync are no longer relevant to the calendar.
For details on upgrading please see this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3032657
And what is your operating System? If you are on Leopard there is an additional process to be carried out after you've upgraded - please see:

  • A one day entry on iPhone calendar shows as two days on iPad?!

I know you're thinking this is probably something to do with timezones differences between the iPhone and the iPad?
Each year I put the F1 grand prix races in my calendar as a one-day event on the Sunday they take place. On Sunday 27th March 2011 is the Australian grand prix.
On my iPhone (I'm in the UK and running the latest version on an iPhone 4 etc.) it shows as a one-day event but on my iPad it stradles two-days! When I go to click EDIT on the iPhone entry, despite showing as a Sunday entry only, it shows that it starts on Sunday 27th March and finished on Monday 28th March!
I spent a couple of hours looking at this. No other grand prix date has this discrepancy between the iPad and the iPhone calendars (that are sync'd with MobileMe calendar). It's just this one date.
I even had a friend add an event on the same date and it also suggested it was a one day event but when you edit it then it shows it's a two day event.
And then the only explanation dawned on me. It wasn't time zone setting differences as that would affect all the entries like that the whole year.
27th March is the date the clocks go forward in the UK for British Summer Time!
Is it a bug though? Why does the iPhone show it as one day but the iPad show it as two?
What is it with Apple and calendars and alarms?! And don't start me on the MobileMe calendar and Outlook integration. It's rubbish.

Hi Boneart - I feel for you.
I too have the same issue (Feb 2014) which I have just discovered today as I am not a strong user of all-day events, until today when I tried to schedule annual holidays in my diary.  I can confirm the EXACT SAME issues that you have described with all-day events displacing 24 hrs EARLY for sync Outlook to iOS calendar, and all-day events displaced 24hrs LATE for sync iOS calendar to Outlook.  I also confirm that the issue does not exist for specified time appointments, as you also found.
I note from several other discussion threads that Apple have previously focussed on an issue of all-day events syncing to span 2-days; that is not yet apparent in my situation  BUT I will be watching with interest whether a subsequent synchronisation causes the displaced dates to also synchronise back providing the same event apparently spanning 2 days but ACTUALLY existing as two events with identical properties on successive days.
One oddity is that I also operate in the NZ time zone; I wonder if that is significant???
For a brief period I trialled iCloud with a thrid-party patch to resolve the native iCloud issue of not providing 2-way synch with Outlook.  That worked beautifully ... until Apple provided an update to the iCloud interface which destroyed all functionality for me.  I'm back to hard-wire sync via USB wire again.  Very frustrating!!
Finally it is sad that Apple has no interest in these issues.  It strikes me that as soon as there is a non-Apple platform involved they blame the other system and wash their hands of it.

  • ICal crashes whenever opened after upgrade to new MobileMe calendar

I upgraded to the MobileMe calendar beta, and have no problem using it on my iPhone, MacPro or the web. But iCal on my MacBook Pro now crashes every time it is opened. I can see it start up OK, then as soon as it starts showing the indeterminate spinner next to my MobileMe calendars (presumably showing it's doing a sync) it crashes. I've tried deleting all my calendar data from my Library folder but that hasn't helped.
Has anyone else seen this? Or could anyone offer any suggestion as to how I can remove the MobileMe calendars from iCal to at least get it running again? The error it crashes with (it's the same every time):

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?  I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.

Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.  I had a heck of a time getting my Detroit Tigers Baseball team schedules migrated (but Major League Baseball supported the subscriptions, so it occurred).  As I work internationally, having these calendar subscriptions on the new Calendar would be very useful.
If one goes to the Apple site, and seeks calendars [http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/index1.html], they are shunted to MobileMe [https://www.icloud.com/mobileme/not_found/], with the note "MobileMe is closed. Go to iCloud."  But, I do not see how to get subscriptions from iCloud.
    Thanks.

The problem is that many of these calendars were hosted on MobileMe. I actually tried about 20 at random, and only two worked! Not all of the failures were ex-MobileMe, some were on other servers but produced 'File Not Found'.
Strangely, this one worked despite its URL:
    http://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics
Until the people who publish these calendars (it's not Apple, they are third-party) wake up and find alternative servers these calendars are not available.
There may be other sources which work - try Googling.

  • ICal lost events after upgrading to the New Mobileme Calendar

After updating to the New MobileMe Calendar on my home computer, the iCal at work stopped syncing, i.e. none of the events show up.
I tried quitting iCal, stopped syncing, and synced again to replace data on work computer, but didn't work.
MobileMe calendar has all the data intact. iCal at home seems to load all the events fine. (10.6.6 on iMac, both at home and work.)
    Please provide advice. Thanks!

  • Letting two users share one synced iCal Calendar

    Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to share a single iCal calendar between two users, giving both users the ability to make changes to the calendar. Is this possible with Apple's iCal?
As an example, say I'd like to create a calendar for a trip itnerary. I'm in New York and my host ("Sara") is in San Francisco. I open my iCal, select the "Itinerary" calendar and enter a few events into it. Then, Sara opens her iCal and it automatically loads the "Itinerary" calendar, showing the events I've entered. Knowing San Francisco better than I do, she decides to alter my "Explore Chinatown" entry by extending the hours. The next time I open my iCal, I see the changes Sara made in the "Itinerary" calendar.
I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but even though I searched for it I couldn't find information answering this question. If you can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!

      Mac OS X (10.4.3)   iCal Version 2.0.3

If I understand .Mac's services correctly, it
features the ability to let users subscribe to a
calendar, that is read another person's published
calendar, but NOT to make changes on that calendar
and then send these changes back to the publisher,
transparently. Unless I'm mistaken in this regard,
.Mac does not provide a means to let two users share
a single iCal calendar which they can BOTH make
changes to and BOTH keep synced with the other user's
    calendar.
    yes it does!!!!!!!!
simply log into the single .mac account from any number of computers and use isync. We do this every day between our office & home computers. The calenders in ical are idendical on both. Any alteration can be synced to .mac and the other computer will pick up the change next time it is synced. If there is a conflict, isync will ask which version (either .mac or the computer being synced) to use.
I think that you are confusing publishing calenders and syncing them
However, even if that can be done with .Mac (and if
it can, I'd love to learn how), I require a solution
that doesn't utilitze .Mac because in my particular
situation, the other user with whom I want to share
calendars does not have a .Mac subscription and will
not be able to get one.
The other user does not need a .mac account. The whole point is that they are syncing to the one (ie your) account.
    Therefore, I need a solution
that does not rely on .Mac.
Wrong. It would seem that .mac would work.
The only problem is that all the calenders in ical will sync.

  • Ical won't publish two different calendars

    Hi
Is it possible to publish two separate calendars at once in ICAL to one .mac account? I am a adjunct professor and I teach at two different schools (MCC & ECSU) I have made a separate calendar for each school. I unchecked the ESCU calendar and checked the MCC calendar but when I publish only one only the ECSU calendar is showing up. The MCC calendars won't publish at all. Should I just merge the two and publish both? I'd like them separate because the students will get confused.
    Any suggestions?
    Jane

    Jane,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Is it possible to publish two separate calendars at once in ICAL to one .mac account?
No, "at once" is not possible, but you should be able to publish (one-at-a-time) individual calendars which are displayed in your Calendars source pane.
Each published calendar should have a unique .mac URL address such as:
    http://ical.mac.com/yourusername/MCC
    http://ical.mac.com/yourusername/ESCU
Checking or unchecking a calendar in the source pane has no bearing on the publish capability, it only adds/removes the calendar from the display window.
You must publish each calendar individually as a separate calendar.
    ;~)

I have a 4S and when I create a calendar event in ical, it does not show up in my ical ofn my Macbook Pro.
I have check sync calendars in iTunes and have selected to display all calendars in my Macbook's iCal.
Is ther some thing I am overlooking, or a step I may be forgetting?
    Thanks

After a trip to the genius bar, I found how to solve this problem, at least for me:
    0) Plug in iPhone
    1) Start iCal
    2) Export all calendars (File -> Export)
    3) Quit iCal
    4) Delete all calendars from ~/Library/Calendars
    5) Start iCal
    6) Import all exported calendars
    7) Start iTunes, configure syncing to overwrite calendars on phone
    8) Sync iPhone

  • Contacts and calendar showing double - because of MobileMe?

I got mobile me and the contacts and calendar updated wirelessly as expected, however the last time I plugged in my iPhone to my computer, the iPhone synced with all information (contacts, calendar, itunes, photos, etc.) and now both my contacts and calendars are showing double on my iPhone. Is there a way to fix this?
the calendars show two boxes on my iPhone: "From my Mac" and another "(email)(Mobile Me)". I assume this is why there are duplicates, however I do not know how to delete or get rid of it. I thought Mobile Me would simply update information from the Mac, not add to it.
The contacts have the same two boxes and show all my groups of contacts twice.
Am I not supposed to sync with my mac now that I have mobile me? How do I get rid of these duplicates now?
    Thank you,
    Kim

About the only thing you can try is using the Online Internet Recovery system to reinstall Lion on your Mac over the top of the current install. that will reset all system files and should not touch your personal files or the apps you have installed.
Or iof you have a recent Time Machine backup use that to restore your Mac to that point in time.
