Two mono inputs

I'm using a Blue Yeti USB microphone and am recording vocals in mono.  I see two different mono inputs in the multitrack editor:
[01M] Microphone (4 - Yeti Stereo Microphone) 1
[02M] Microphone (4 - Yeti Stereo Microphone) 2
Why are there two and what is the difference between the two?  Which one should I be recording with and why?
Thanks,
Mike

Yeah, I have no trouble recording in mono.  My question is what is the difference between:
[01M] Microphone (4 - Yeti Stereo Microphone) 1
[02M] Microphone (4 - Yeti Stereo Microphone) 2
Both record in mono and I have no trouble recording with either of those two selected mono inputs in multitrack.  I just want to know if one is better than the other or not, and why.
Thanks,
Mike

  • Making two mono tracks from one stereo track?

    I've used the M-Audio MobilePre USB device to record  vocal and guitar at the same time. In GarageBand, this inputs as one track, with guitar on the left channel and vocal on the right.
    I'd like to separate this one stereo track into two mono tracks for further mixing and editing.
    Any ideas on how to do this?
    Thanks!

  • Capturing Two Mono Channels and Not Stereo Channels

    For the first time, I'm shooting footage with audio on two individual mono channels (on two separate XLR inputs). All are camera settings are correct, however, when I capture in Final Cut Express, it captures the audio as linked stereo (LR) channels, not two mono channels.
    Anyone know what could be wrong?
    Big thanks!

    There's nothing wrong. When you connect a mic to each of the 2 inputs on your camcorder, your camera records the audio as 1 stereo pair, and FCE captures it that way from your camcorder.
    In FCE, you can either pan each channel totally to its Left or Right side; or you can separate the stereo pair into 2 independent audio tracks. You may still want to pan each channel to get the sound you want.

    The receiver has two HDMI  inputs in the back.  However they say they are not for PC's.  Furthermore they must be set up by going to the home menu.    I tried everything, but I can not get the receiver to talk to the Apple TV. I even tried a connector that uses an HDMI to the Apple TV that has the other side of the cable as 5 RCA cables.  I could not get the receiver to see the Apple TV.   I have a newer TV in the house, it has no problem talking with the Apple TV.  But this older system seems to be handicapped in its ability to talk with the newer Apple TV system.

    Do you have any suggestions
    Thanks

    I could not access the Apple TV on the television.   If I put the Apple TV directly into by TV, I have an external sound system (entertainment system), therefore I worry that I would by pass the audio.
    Thanks for taking your time to attempt to help!   Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Get an HDMI switcher. Plug in the ATV directly to the TV and then use the switcher on the other input.

  • XY Graph with two Y inputs

    I need to know how to graph a XY graph with two values of Y. I need to it to compare to different angles and I also would like to make them graph different colors. Currently i have an XY graph with one Y input using the XY Graph express VI. I found out how to set up for two simultaneous plots by editing the properties for the graph but I don't know how I can input another Y value to plot using the XY Graph express VI.
    Thank You,
    Phil

    I never use the express functons but I think what will work is to use the merge signal function. Try merging the two x inputs together and merging the two y inputs together. I made a modification to the shipping example called Lissajous.vi  to try a quick test.

  • Compare two values input by user in JavaScript

    Hi, there,
    I have two text input boxes in my form, and user can input some value in the boxes. I want to check if the values in these two boxes are numerical and compare them in my JavaScript function. How can I do this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Fred

    Hi,
    You can make use of this code. You can user parseInt, which parses a string argument and returns an integer of the specified base.
    <html>
    <head>
    <script>
    function testCompare()
    var x = parseInt(document.myFrm.a.value);
    var y = parseInt(document.myFrm.b.value);
    if( x > y)
    alert ("X is greater");
    else
    alert("Y is greater");
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form name = myFrm>
    <input type = text name = a value = 100>
    <input type = text name = b value = 200 >
    <input type = button value = click onclick = testCompare()>
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Possible to Join Two Mono Tracks to Stereo, Or Change Panning of a Stereo?

    In the new Garage Band 11, is it possible to Join Two Mono Tracks to Stereo, or Change the Panning of a Stereo track, or split a stereo track into two mono files?
    Sometimes it would be convenient when I have a lot of tracks to combine two mono tracks into one stereo track to eliminate an additional track.
    Also, I find that I often want to change the panning of a stereo track to either make it wider, or merge the two channels, even reverse L&R. If no way to change the panning of a stereo track can a stereo track be split into two mono tracks to be panned differently?

    only by exporting the two tracks
    or Change the Panning of a Stereo track
    you can pan a stereo track in every version of GB with the pan knob
    or split a stereo track into two mono files?

    that's different. no, you'd have to split the track into two mono files as described above.
    even reverse L&R.

  • Merge two mono files to one stero file

    i want to make two mono tracks into one stereo track where one is the left part of the the stereo track and the other the right part...i thought i had done that a long time ago...if possible, how do i do that?

    Split Stereo files can be converted to Interleaved files. Do that in the Audio window (Copy/convert file).

  • How to put two mono tracks into the usual stereo view in Edit view of Audition 3 ?

    Hi guys,
    Previously I have had no issues simply using Adobe Audition 3 for simple stereo recording and editing of a stereo feed taken from a mixer... well nearly no issues....  :-)
    Today, I'm having a bad day or else it's because I'm getting used to being retired.. :-)  ......
    Query :    How do I put two mono tracks into the usual stereo view in Edit view so they both display correctly there?
    Put simply I have two mono wav files. Let's call them Left_wav and Right_wav.
    I cannot seem to get them imported into a new clean Edit view (Normal stereo track layout) so that Left_wav is on the top half and Right_wav is on the bottom half.
    Whenever I try, I just get either Left_wav or Right_wav taking up the whole of the edit view. i.e. it just shows one track.
    Can anyone familiar with Audition 3 kindly help? I'd appreciate a simple step by step... I just can't see where I've been going wrong, and it's driving me bananas :-).
    Thanks

    There are various ways to do this in Audition 3. here's one.
    Open both mono files separately in Edit view. Then convert Left_wav to Stereo by going to Edit/Convert Sample Type and under Channels select Stereo with Left Mix at 100% and Right Mix at 0%. This will give you a new stereo file with Left_wav on the top channel. Next go to the Right_wav and copy to the clipboard using Edit/Copy. Return to your new stereo file and enable Edit Right channel only in Edit/Edit Channel/Edit Right Channel. Then make sure that the cursor is at start of the stereo file and Paste Right_wav into the bottom channel of the new stereo file. Finally Save As.

  • Combining two mono clips into a single mono clip

    I have two mono clips (two different takes of the same vocal part) that I want to combine into a single mono clip in Multitrack.  I tried the Bounce feature, but it produced a stereo file (which I don't want) and I think there isn't a mono option in Bounce.  So then I tried Mixdown to New File, and that produced a stereo file too.   So, what's the way to get the mono file I want, and which is better for the job - Bounce, or Mixdown?

    I recently filed two bug reports around bouncing tracks.  I noted that bounces were always created to match the Master track channelization, not the source track, and that they appeared to be passing through the Master when they should be the raw track output.

  • Need to keep two mono channels separated when exporting to mini-dv

    I need to export a project to tape, but I need to keep the two mono channels separated. When I go back to check the audio channels have been mixed. The VO has to remain separate from the rest of the audio (music & sfx), because the client intends to create a another translation of the video.
    I'm using FCP6, and I am connected to the deck via firewire. I'm uncertain as to whether my problem lies in FCP settings or in the deck settings (I've searched my deck manual and can't find anything mentioned on this matter). Any help would be appreciated.

    [email protected] wrote:
    Honestly, the only way I have to capture it is to recapture what I just exported and look at the audio channels
    This sounds more complicated than it needs to be. To what are you capturing, a camera or a deck? Either way, you must be capable of playing back the tape on whatever machine you have and monitor it from that using headphones at the very least.

  • How to plot two analogue inputs from a DAQ device against eachother on an XY graph

    I am trying to separate data I am acquiring from two analogue inputs on my NI USB-6009 in order to plot them againt one another on an XY graph. I have tried setting up two DAQ assistants on the block diagram, one acquiring data from ai0 and the other from ai1. I tried to wire these to the X input and Y input respectively and running in a while loop but Error -50103 shows up.
    I've read through a few discussion threads and have found that you should acquire the data from both analogue inputs thorugh one DAQ assistant, useing index arrays to split the data and wire to the X input and Y input of the XY graph, but I cannot figure out how to do this.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It's pretty trivial to use a single DAQ Assistant. When you create one, you are given the option for multiple channels and shown how to select them. Once created with a single channel, you simply open the assistant and click on the Add button. After the acquisition, you use the spilt signal function if you stick with the evil dynamic data.

  • How to SPLIT ONE STEREO TRACK'S L & R CHANNELS INTO TWO MONO CHANNELS

    Does anyone know if this is possible: How to SPLIT ONE STEREO TRACK'S L & R CHANNELS INTO TWO MONO CHANNELS?  There's got to be a way, but I just can't find out how.
    I recorded a podcast -- me and a guest, with each mic going to its own mono channel. When I opened it in Audition it mixed them into one stereo channel.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
