Two new IDE-Controllers after BIOS update, but not installable

Hi there,
i recently updated my bios to the latest version and now the following strange thing happens:
when i boot my machine (875P NEO, P4 2.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 2 Otical drives at IDE0, 2 S-ATA drives at the S-ATA-controller, WIN XP SP), there are two new IDE (primary and secondary) Chanels to be found by the system.
Windows seems to act normal as it states them "new device found" (all that in german as i live here and tries to install the proper drivers, i think.
but then the new-devices-assistant pops up and tells me, that they cannot be installed because there are no drivers for my system.
i even used the actual inf-drivers from the msi-site.
that will happen at every start. in the hardware-manager there are both ide-devices marked as non-functional with a yellow sign in front of them with a exclamation mark in it.
oh, and my office installation wants the same .cab-file from the installation-cd everytime i boot the system.
the bios was the only thing changed.
does anyone have an idea whatr to do?
thanks in advance, cpo
(hope that all is understandable

yeah, seems like the same symptoms.
my version was 3.6 from october 2004. Version 3.5 from september works fine except for the cpu temperature beeing displayed too high in bios...
rollback to 2.5 did not work, still the same though i did not do the thing with the cmos-reset via jumper. will try this today...

  • New Latop Dead after BIOS Update

I just bought this laptop in October, 2014 a C50 PSCMLU-04202F to replace my 2003 Dell and after about 10 times of usage it is dead. Toshiba software on my computer said to install the BIOS update and it completed installing but now will not boot. I get the message: "Reboot and select propoer Boot device or insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a key". They will not provide support without a credit card. Support says I am out of warranty, yet it was there support tool that said I needed to update my BIOS which I did. Can anyone help me? I moved ALL my pictures to this new computer and fear they are gone....

OH so I did the power button F2 and in advanced saw that the HDD/SDD was first so am assuming it can't see the hard drive i called Toshiba back and this tech said that since i was litterly 2 day out of warranty they would talk me through a reset, but to take it somehwere first to get my pictures off of there as a reset would wipe it out. Once I do that i wil lcall them back and if the reset does not work, they will be charging me 29.99 to ship back and fix since the hard drive IS under warranty - somethnig Alvin my morning tech didn't bother to check on or inform me of but swore someone would call me back and that didn't happen. So story here is stay tuned. Maria was FAR better service.

  • MSI H61MA-E35 - After bios update PC not sleeping correctly

    Hi,
I have just built up a pc with the motherboard H61MA-E35. Initially I had windows installed and when hitting sleep the PC would go into sleep with all monitors, fans, power supplies all turned off. After I updated to the latest BIOS 7740V20 I am having issues with the power saving features. The PC goes into sleep and my monitors, mouse and keyboard are turned off. The pc fans, cpu fan and power supply still remains on and the power light doesn't blink as it should.
I had thought initially this was a windows/driver problem. I installed a fresh copy of windows and all the drivers supplied. I also updated to the latest drivers via liveupdate. This didn't resolve the issue. I then thought it was a power supply issue and so I installed another power supply into the machine and this did not solve the issue also.
I tried to downgrade the BIOS to the older version 7740V12 but I can't as it tells me that the ROM FILE ROMID IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE EXISTING BIOS ROMID.
Any help on how to resolve this will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Castor

Any ideas if there are issues with this Bios version causing pc not to sleep completely or shutdown completely. Just tried shutting down and peripherals and monitor turn off but the pc fans and CPU fan, power supply and power light remain on.
Ah ok, it wouldn't flash to a Sandy version at all, had misinterpreted that, sorry. Then the chip corruption was avoided, that is a good thing.
It might be a setting someplace that needs to be disabled. Maybe EuP 2013 or C-State?

  • I can't activate windows 8.1 pre-installed on my Toshiba E45-B4200 after BIOS Update

I bought Toshiba laptop Model E45-B4200, at first time I could activate windows 8.1 like a charm.
Few months later Windows 8.1 has crashed, so I did clean install of pre-installed windows, no problem so far. Toshiba Application installer app has downloaded BIOS update, so I ran it.
I tried to activate windows after BIOS update, but it didn`t work. No error message, but Change PC settings window just got minimized every time that I tried to click on Activate Windows option. I thought that I did some mistake, so I repeated windows reinstallation, and same problem occurred again.
Now I can`t update Windows, Office 2013, and so on.
I`ve tried SLUI 4 command to force activation by phone, but it didn`t work as well.
I read on MS blogs that windows 8.1 stores product key on MSDM table, windows should be activated normally. Now I got no options now, can you help me?

It shouldn't need to be activated it. Everything should be automatic. Because it's asking you, that's already indicative of a problem. You might want to call customer support.

  • Satellite L650 - ODD does not read most of CDs or DVD's after BIOS update

While copying DVD's I was asked to do a bios upgrade from the software that came on my laptop, so i thought coming from toshibsa it should be safe. I closed all my applications and let the update happen, restarted my pc and tried to continue to copy my dvd's.
Now my dvd writer does not read most of my cds or DVD's,originals as well.
I have managed to get hold of my previous Bios version after quite a battle before the update to see if i can go back to my old version but the exe file runs a program that says the version is older then the one i am using so it will not load it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have two days to copy 100 DVD's for a client and i am unable to do this now,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L650 laptop running windows 7 64 bit 8 gigs memory with a SSD Hard drive

    > i can go back to my old version but the exe file runs a program that says the version is older then the one i am using so it will not load it
I dont think that BIOS is the problem here the point is that the CD and DVD support details are stored in the CD/DVD drive firmware and NOT in the notebook BIOS.
So in my opinion the BIOS update is not the reason for your issue.
I think you should check if laser lens cleaning would help you to read the disks.
Use an cotton wool tip and alcohol fluid to clean gently the laser lens.

  • 890FX-65 won't run stable on 16GB after bios update

    My Set up:
    MSI 890FX-65
    1090T Phenom x6
MSI 6950 flashed 2gb frozr III
    16gb(4*4gb) Patriot sector 5 DDR3
After live-update updated my bios from the ones that were stock on the board, my system will not run anything graphic intense with out either freezing or BSOD.  It ran fine before the bios update, but i am not sure which bios were on the board stock.  I have been through all the bios on the website flashing through M-flash, then i have even flashed back to v4.0 with the flash utility here from the forums.  I have also run memtest86+ for over and hour and the ram showed no problems.  If i take 2 sticks out and run at 8gb dual channel, i get no problems with either pair of ram installed.
Any ideas on what to try?

It was a 4*4gb pack, each was in its own plastic package, all 4 packages were in one box.  They all also have the same serial #.
i have tested 2 sticks at a time with each stick, and all have passed memtest for an hour per set with no errors at all.
    The bios try to run it as 1066mhz @1.5v @ 7-7-7-20  (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 27-86-4-8-4-4  (RC-RFC-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP).
    I usually set it to @ 1600 MHz @ 9-9-9-24  (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 38-88-2-5-12-6-6  (RC-RFC-CR-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP) or
    @ 1333 MHz   7-7-7-19  (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 29-69-2-4-10-5-5  (RC-RFC-CR-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP), both settings @ 1.65v.
passing memtest doesn't mean that memory is fine.
test each one 2x pack with Prime95: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Home-Education/Prime95.shtml
[Use Large in place FFTs] for at least 5-6 hours per pack

How about if you leave them at Auto?
or manually set to 1333 without chaning timmings.
    What about command rate?

  • Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update

    Hi.
Yesterday I did a BIOS update on my Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E-03Z00QGR with the appropriate flash:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=624&langua ge=17&selOS=10&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload =&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=userMachines&search =&action=search&macId=&country=all&selectedLanguag e=17&type=all&page=1&ID=58477&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42
    bios-20070709111839.zip
After the flashing procedure the machine rebooted automatically, but unfortunately it now keeps hanging at the Thoshiba welcome screen. Also pressing F2 or F12 won't change anything. It seems like the BIOS is corrupt.
I saw, that in the BIOS package are delivered two flash files (s10gm590.rom and s10pm590.rom). But just executing the SanAntonion10 BIOS590MP.exe a .vbs script is started that decides automatically chooses and loads a flash file. Maybe it chose the wrong one?
What shall I do now? Is there a way to restore the BIOS, or do I have to send my notebook in?
    Thanks in advance
    MAT

    > Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update
What to say Marc. It looks like you have used a wrong BIOS version or you have updated the BIOS in wrong way.
You could try to access the BIOS and try to set the settings to default.
Dont forget to save the settings if you will exit the BIOS.
But if this procedure does not help, you will have to contact the ASP in your country.
Possibly the guys will try to flash the BIOS again with other special version.
    Good luck
    Greetings

  • After BIOS update DVD driver do not read DVDs anymore - Sat A80

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A80-131 and after bios update (last version 2.5) by windows procedure update, my DVD drive do not read DVD medias anymore. It is possible to read CD medias, but not DVD one.
Can I reinstall the old bios? Can I reinstall the firmware?
    Thanks
    Ronai Lisboa

    Hi Ronai
Like Jimi has said in the posting above. It's very unusual that after BIOS updating the DVD drive hasn't read the DVDs.
Furthermore it's not advisable to use any 3rd party applications to DOWNGRADE the BIOS. Usually only the ASP can downgrade the BIOS. Such procedures are very serious and the wrong procedure can damage the motherboard.
However, it's nice that you have solved the problem and that the drive works properly.
    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Satellite Pro L300: BSOD after BIOS update

    Hi
after update the Bios of Satellite Pro L300, the windows not start!
Its show the blue dead screen!
    What can i do?

    Hi
Are you able to access the BIOS settings?
Im not quite sure why this BSOD appears but possibly the SATA mode settings have been changed after BIOS update
Usually the SATA mode should be set to AHCI if the SATA drivers are installed.
But if the SATA drivers are not included the SATA mode should be set to compatible.
    Please check this!
Furthermore you could set the BIOS to the default settings and could try to boot the machine again.

    Hello jay04,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the number keys do not work on your keyboard. I will do my best to assist you. First, I require the following information:
    1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your product number
    2. The computer's operating system. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website to determine your Windows operating system.
    3. Does this occur on certain programs, or all programs?
    4. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared?
Additionally, if the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore

  • Satellite A series does not start up after BIOS update

After bios update with downloaded utility my notebook does not start up.
Did this case covered by warranty?

Im not quite sure if this would be covered by warranty. You should contact the ASP in your country for details but I presume its not covered.
PS: Did you try this workaround:
    - remove battery, disconnect the AC adaptor
    - wait ~ 40min
    - connect both devices again and try to power up the notebook
