Two nodes ASM has same instance name

Hi,
I created a two nodes ASM grid , when the grid installation(11.2.0.1) finished it created the +ASM1 as the instance name for both my nodes.
I did setup the ORACLE_SID to +ASM1 and +ASM2 for the node1 and node2 respectively before the installation.
Whats wrong I am doing for the grid installation? Please suggest.
Thanks

Hi,
For installing the grid infrastructure for cluster, yes for sure you need a shareable disks, in case of failure of one node then your data (diskgroup) is accessible on the other node.
You can add a new "Oracle VM virtualBox" Machine that works like a SAN Server (iSCSI):
Step 1: On SAN Server VM.
- Add for example 6 virtual disks (2 disks for OCR & Voting, 2 disks for DATA and 2 disks for FRA if you want).
- Install tgtd package.
- Configure the tgtd
Step 2: Then, on both Nodes:
- Install the iSCSI initiator.
- Install Device-Mapper-Multipath
- Start up the multipathd
I had written an article how to set up an SAN Server and Device-mapper-multipath.
I hope this can help you.
Best regards

• MC placed multiple times and given same instance name?

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to code in flash.
I am mostly used to use object oriented programming, but in flash I'm doing everything in one frame.
I am making a car game. Kinda GTA style, but very simple. You are a police car, and you chase a theif through a city.
The theif uses ground nodes to know where he can drive, and where he can turn.
basically, below is the stage. I have placed these objects directly onto the stage, and given some of them instance names.:
|      O
|  O ©
|            _______________________
|            |
|            |
|            |
|            |
|      ^     |
|      |     |
|     X     |
The © is a MC named node_switch.
The O's are the two objects of the same MC, which both are named node_stop
The X is the theif (mc), and he is driving upward along the road.
When theif hits node_switch, he will look up,down, left and right if any node_stop is placed.
This is done with hitTestObject. the theif has invisible "beams" in all 4 directions, inside it's MC.
The problem is as following:
When multiple nodes are placed on the stage, the theif only collides with one of them.
As I said, they have the same instance name.
Is there a way to be able to place them directly on the stage, give them all the same instance name, and make a for loop where it goes through all of them and checks collision?
Edit:
Or is it maybe possible to place them directly on the stage, give them instance names such as "node_switch01", "node_switch02", and then check for them all at the same time in a for loop, or in some other way? there will be lots of nodes, so...

If you name them all differently you will have an easier time of it. To loop thru them with the naming convention you suggested you can use the bracket notation, though it would be easier to get rid of the leading zeroes...
for (var i:uint=1; i<=numNodes; i++){
if(thief.hitTestObject(this["node_switch"+String(i)]){
// don't go this way

• Multiple MovieClips with same instance name

I'm following a tower defence tutorial and part of the code is set up so I can build towers on the "grass" movie clip. I wanted to add more patches of "grass" and gave them all the same instance name so I can be able to place towers on them, but I have the problem that I can only place towers on the first item I placed and has the instance name of "grass". I can't seem to place towers on the other patches of grass.
I removed the instance name of the first patch of grass and it let me build towers on the second patch, but the second patch only.
I was following this tutorial: http://www.goofballgames.com/2010/01/31/how-to-build-a-tower-defense-f lash-game-part-2-placing-towers/
Here is the code for it I believe:
onClipEvent (load)
active = 0;
onClipEvent (enterFrame)
if (active == 1)
setProperty("", _x, int((_root._xmouse - 10) / 20) * 20 + 20);
setProperty("", _y, int((_root._ymouse - 10) / 20) * 20 + 20);
hitTestOnGrassMovieClip = _root.grass.hitTest(_x, _y, 1);
if (hitTestOnGrassMovieClip) {
gotoAndStop(1);
_root.ranger.gotoAndStop(1);
else {
gotoAndStop(2);
_root.ranger.gotoAndStop(2);
_root.ranger._x = _x;
_root.ranger._y = _y;
_root.ranger._width = _root["tower_" + tower].range * 2;
_root.ranger._height = _root["tower_" + tower].range * 2;
on (press)
hitTestOnGrassMovieClip = _root.grass.hitTest(_x, _y, 1);
hitTestOnDeSelectMovieClip = _root.deselect.hitTest(_x, _y, 1);
if (hitTestOnGrassMovieClip || hitTestOnDeSelectMovieClip) {
if (hitTestOnGrassMovieClip) {
++_root.towerCount;
_root["tower_" + tower].duplicateMovieClip("t" + _root.towerCount, 500 + _root.towerCount);
a = _root["t" + _root.towerCount];
a._x = _x;
a._y = _y;
a.active = 1;
active = 0;
setProperty("", _x, 1000);
_root.selectedTower = "";
_root.ranger._x = 1000;
_root.ranger._width = 10;
_root.ranger._height = 10;
}

1. You cannot use the same instance names for different objects and expect more than one to be targeted. You need to assign unique names, or you can store references to them in an array and use the array to target them.
2. You are posting AS2 code in the AS3 forum. You should repost in the AS2 forum. http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/flash_actionscript

(Yes, I know it's really two identities belonging to the same person, but to my eye both screen names look identical on screen; and I thought the system prevented entering a screen name already in use).

Rick, I must confess that I had never thought of looking for participant's screen names down there. And I still find it curious that the accent is absent at the obvious position of screen names.
Have you ever considered investigating this sort of thing? Create a new
Adobe ID, change values for userID, screenname, firstname and lastname
on the Adobe side and see what changes on the Jive side? The logic may
turn out to be surprisingly simple.
No, I haven't and most probably I will not, at least in the foreseeable future. I have enough problems with my own account, and I waste too much time as it is on re-logging in, and on waiting for pages to load and messages to be posted, to indulge in such an investigation. Even if the logic behind two accounts that on screen seem to be associated with exactly the same screen name turns out to be exceedingly simple.

• Adressing multiple copies of Movieclips with the same instance name

Is it possible to iterate through MV copies with the same instance name? It would be very useful for my project.

you can copy movieclips with the same instance name but you'll only be able to easily control (with actionscript) the last created instance. the rest will be difficult to reference.
although, if the only movieclips attached to the parent are the ones you are interested in and you want to do that same thing to all of them (say rotate them all), you can do that without giving them distinct names.

Sampled Session History
The sampled session history is constructed by sampling
the target session every 1 second. The sampling process
captures at each sample if the session is in a non-idle wait,
an idle wait, or not in a wait. If the session is in a
non-idle wait then one interval is shown for all the samples
the session was in the same non-idle wait. If the
session is in an idle wait or not in a wait for
consecutive samples then one interval is shown for all
the consecutive samples. Though we display these consecutive
samples in a single interval the session may NOT be continuously
idle or not in a wait (the sampling process does not know).
The history is displayed in reverse chronological order.
sample interval: 1 sec, max history 120 sec

• Two earlywatch reports for same instance in one Solution manager

Hi
i am trying to create two solutons for early watch reports for same instance. let me explain here.
In SAP Solution Manager: Active Solutions >>> i have two solutions like this
Solution                                                          Early Watch Alert Reports
Avnet Global Solutions >>>> here i have configured the PR1, PB1 PCB instances
PR1                                      >>>>>here i configured the only PR1 instance.
so i have configured the same instance in two solutions.
i am not gettting the early watch report automatically after after configuring like this . but manually working fine.
when i kick of the report manually working fine.
here my question is ... do i can create two early watch reports in one solution manage for same instance or not. if yes then why i am not getting report automatically.
Thank you
Vish

Dear Paul,
Thank you for your response
this is what i got from SAP.
Hello Vish,
You can have the same system in different solutions. With regards
to why the report is not generating automatically, please review
SDCCN on the satellite system.
I dialed into the system and found that the SDCCN for PB1 is not
downloading the sessions from Solution Manager.
I would recommend that you deactivate and then activate SDCCN.
Tcode SDCCN -> GoTo - Settings - Task Processor - Deactivate
Tcode SDCCN ->Utilities -> Activate
Then create a Refresh Session task and verify if the upcoming sessions
are getting pulled down to PB1.
If you need help with this, please let me know if it is fine with you
if I make the necessary changes to get the system working.
Thank you in advance and best regards,

• [boxir2-sp4] two separate CMS with same cluster name

How can I change the current cluster name. Currently have two separate CMS on two separate servers but with the same cluster name. They both show up on each others CMC -> Servers page. This was not our intention.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Login to CCM, stop CMS server, go to it's properties, go to Configuration tab, check "change cluster name box" and type new cluster name, click apply, OK, start CMS. Done
Make absolutly sure that each CMS is pointing to it's own CMS DB !!!

• Page Export / Import in between two workspaces in the same instance

Hi All,
I am trying to import a page from one application to another application in a different work space in the same instance.
In the export file i have changed the target application id and workspace id. I am facing below error while importing the specific page.
ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-00001: unique constraint (FLOWS_030100.WWV_FLOW_PAGE_PLUGS_PK) violated <pre>declare s varchar2(32767) := null; l_clob clob; l_length number := 1; begin s := null; wwv_flow_api.create_page_plug ( p_id=&gt; 190100618443233983 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset, p_flow_id=&gt; wwv_flow.g_flow_id, p_page_id=&gt; 31, p_plug_name=&gt; 'Upload Scripts', p_region_name=&gt;'', p_plug_templa
Error installing page.
Return to application.
Any help for this.

I got the solution for the page export/import in between 2 workspaces.
Only thing is we need to do some template related changes in the page, item, region attributes .

• Confusion of aliases made for two SMB shares with same folder name

I have a SMB file server here which provides me with a Departmental personal home filestore and also a Departmental personal web filestore. The name of the folder is the same in each case - my Departmental user name. If I check the Finder Preference 'Show these items on the desktop' for 'Connected servers', I can use the Finder's 'Connect to Server' for each - smb://webhome/john and smb://home/john - to make each of them appear on my desktop as 'john'.
It's rather confusing to have to remember that (say) the upper 'john' is my home filestore and the lower one is my web filestore, so I use Finder 'Make Alias' (e.g. via right click on each when selected') to create two aliases I can name 'web john' and 'home john'.
Alas, each alias always points to the same (apparently randomly selected) share!
This looks like a bug to me. I've tried unchecking the Finder 'Connected servers' preference, and then the shares appear under folder 'SHARE' - where I cannot create any aliases at all; I get the error message 'Operation could not be completed (Error -8058)'.
Reader, do you know of a work-around which will let me distinguish on my desktop between my two identically-named folders from different shares? Alas, I have no power to change the names of the original folders.

I should have said that one cannot rename the share icons in the usual way. Not being able to do this is the real bug here. If I'd been able to do this I wouldn't have need to try to create aliases, of course.

• Can I import a project from laptop which has same file names as existing

Im about to import a project from Aperture on my on-road laptop to my main Aperture library on my studio Mac when i realised that the new camera i purchased for the road trip has named the files exactly the same as some files (but different pictures) which already exist in my studio Mac. Even though they exist in different projects, what will happen if i import the new project into my main Aperture Library?

Hi Sunspeaks;
I just had a similar problem. Since I had my MBP on the trip, we were downloading our photos to Aperture there in projects. When I returned home I discovered we had with photos with the same names but different project names. I was able to import everything into Aperture without any trouble. For my own sanity I did a batch rename to change the photo names in Aperture after the import.

• Can two EARs contain the same ejb-name?

Is it possible to have the same entity bean ejb-name in different EARs, referenced
by different JNDI names?
a.ear
JNDI = ejb.a.MyBean
ejb-name = MyBean
b.ear
JNDI = ejb.b.MyBean
ejb-name = MyBean
I get
Unable to bind EJB Home Interface to the JNDI name: foo.MyBean. The error was:
javax.naming.NameAlreadyBoundException: MyBean is already bound; remaining name
'ejb.b'
I'm using local entity beans and it seems they should be local to the EAR. I'm
using 7.0.
thanks,
jeff

Hi Jeff,
Local beans are local to JVM not an application/module. If you need to refer them
by different names for some reason use EJB references (a#mybean sort).

• Creating Keyboard shortcut for two different actions with same menu name..

Am using soundforge pro .. I have to process nearly 1000 audio files, and want to create shortcuts for "Smooth"
The problem is there are two Menu names named "Smooth"
Fade In > Smooth
Fade Out > Smooth
I want to assign different shortcuts for each one.. Is it possible ?
Any help is appreciated

Hi,
I would use IP Address range boundaries instead which I normally do anyway instead for the AD site.

• Where statement on two different tables with same column name

Hello,
I have 2 financial tables:
tblincome, tblexpenses
in each table I have column name "monthPayed" (have values of all the months of the year).
I would like to create a balance view table that will show me the financial status for the Q1 (for example).
I have a column totalIncome and totalExpended respectively.
I've create a view table that shows me the financial balance at the moment but I want it to be devide to Quarters of the year...
Regards

Please post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules. Temporal data should
use ISO-8601 formats. Code should be in Standard SQL as much as possible and not local dialect.
This is minimal polite behavior on SQL forums. Where is the code you already tried? Or are you so lazy, so rude or so privileged that you did not do anything for yourself?
In fact that silly “tbl-” prefix is so bad that it has a name! It is called Tibbling and Phil Factor even wrote a humor article on bad programmers that use it.
Your narrative is vague; it sounds like this is the DDL:
CREATE TABLE Incomes
(payment_month CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
income_amt DECIMAL(12,2) NOT NULL
CHECK (income_amt > 0.00),
CREATE TABLE Expenses
(payment_month CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
expense_amt DECIMAL(12,2) NOT NULL
CHECK (expense_amt > 0.00),
>> in each table I have column name "monthPayed" (have values of all the months of the year). <<
I hope not! 2014 has not gotten to September, November or December yet! And the ISO-11179 data element name should be “payment_month”; but it is still wrong! An expense is not a payment! An income is not a payment!
>> I would like to create a balance view table that will show me the financial status for the Q1 (for example). <<
Report Period Table
Since SQL is a database language, we prefer to do look ups and not calculations. They can be optimized while temporal math messes up optimization. A useful idiom is a report period calendar that everyone uses so there is no way to get disagreements in the DML.
The report period table gives a name to a range of dates that is common to the entire enterprise.
CREATE TABLE Something_Report_Periods
(something_report_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
CHECK (something_report_name LIKE <pattern>),
something_report_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
something_report_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
CONSTRAINT date_ordering
CHECK (something_report_start_date <= something_report_end_date),
etc);
These report periods can overlap or have gaps. I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601
data format required by Standard SQL and it is language independent. The pattern for validation is '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-00-00' and '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'
Now figure it out for yourself, show us what effort you put into this, then we will help you.

• Two attached libraries with same package name

Hi everybody!
Excuse my bad english,
I have a Form (in Borms 6i) with 2 attached librairies. In these libraries, I have 2 packages and 2 procedures with the same name.
How I can call the good one in specific library?
Thanks so much
Valerie

Valerie,
I don't think that there is a solution for this and Forms always picks the procedure of teh library you attached first. Is renaming the functions and procedures and option ?
