  • PDF file pages missing when viewed in Adobe Reader XI

    Hi All,
I have been made aware of a recent issue when viewing scanned PDF files in Adobe Reader XI. Pages are missing when the PDF file is viewed in Adobe Reader v.11.0.x though all pages are visible when file is viewed in Adobe Reader 10.1.5?
I can confirm I have checked Show large images option under Preferences -> Page -> Display, though this doesn't appear to have made a difference. I have been able to replicate this same issue on several other machines.
All machines checked and tested are running Windows 7 (64-bit).
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Never heard of such an issue.  Can you share such a PDF with the forum?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1408375

  • Figures show up pixelated in presentation viewed with Adobe reader

I am working on a presentation which I am making in beamer (latex). Since I am including animations and hyperlinks to sounds, I am using Adobe reader 9 for unix on Lubuntu. Everything is working fine except for one strange thing:
    - The fonts and labels on the figures I am using appear extremely pixelated in the presentation pdf (viewed with Adobe reader) even though if I open them individually, they look fine.
    - If I open the presentation pdf with evince, there is no such problem and the figures look fine. But since animations dont show in evince, I have to use Adobe reader
Apparently this is an Adobe reader problem. I tried meddling with the settings a bit (pixels per inch, smoothen lines...) but with no success. I have no idea why this is happening, but it is quite terrible for me.

As a follow to the above, the problem was related to a file transfer.  The PDFs in question were being transfered from a Unix platform to a Windows Server.  The transfer was defaulting to ASCII or Text and not binary.  Apparently this was never an issue with older versions of Adobe Reader.  Once the transfer was switched to binary, Reader X was able to view the files with no missing pages.  Something was being stripped from the file that Reader X just didn't like.

  • Printing multiple pages per sheet on Adobe Reader for Windows 8

I cannot print multiple pages per sheet on Adobe Reader touch for windows 8.1

What is your Reader version?  In Reader XI 11.0.07 you would click on Multiple, then specify 4 (or 2) pages per sheet:

  • I have an editable pdf made in Acrobat. Viewing it Adobe Reader Mobile (Android) and I can fill it fine. I want to be able to fill the form but it keeps autosaving. I just want to email the form and then it goes back to an unfilled form. How do i do that?

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.

  • PDF Viewer or Adobe Reader/QuickOffice Questions - PLEASE REPLY!

Does the D Inc ship preinstalled with the "PDF Viewer" or Adobe Reader?
Also, can you CREATE documents with Quickoffice, or does it only view doc/xls/ppt from attachments? I'm assuming you can also drag documents from the computer to the SD Card and view them on Quickoffice as well?
    Thanks!

The Dinc with 2.1 had a pdf viewer but it was removed from the 2.2 update. You can download the Adobe pdf reader application from the Market for free.
I believe that the QuickOffice installed on the Dinc is for viewing files only. The full paid version of QuickOffice has more options and is available on the market.
Yes you can drag and drop documents into the sd card and they will be viewable by the QuickOffice application.

  • The hyperlinks in my pdf all have a blue shaded box around them when viewing in adobe reader.

The hyperlinks in my pdf all have a blue shaded box around them when viewing in adobe reader. How can I get rid of these? Why is this happening? The pdf was created from a presentation in powerpoint and uses the links for some interactivity.

That's a great feature request. I'd like the ability to turn off the blue boxes over hyperlinks as well.

  • Is there a way I can view two pages at once on Adobe for Windows 8 Metro?

I'm not talking about the one document. I'm talking about multiple documents. Say I need to view two documents at once, side-by-side while I study (one is a formula sheet and the other is a question sheet).

No.  Adobe Reader Touch is a Windows Store app with "modern" UI.  None of Windows Store apps with "modern" UI can open two windows side-by-side.  That's the Windows 8/RT application design decision that Microsoft has made.
If you want multiple documents/windows for the same app, your only choice is to use a desktop app (e.g. Adobe Reader XI) in the Windows 8 desktop environment.

  • How can I make some pages in a PDF display in single-page view and others in two-page (facing) view?

Exactly as it says on the tin. I am looking to save a PDF magazine/book layout in such a way so that when opened, only the front and back covers open to the viewer in single-page mode, and the rest of the pages in two-page facing mode, without re-printing the in-between pages in booklet format  and re-inserting them into a new PDF (with the front and back covers left separate and untouched, and included as single portrait-orientation pages). This is so that individual pages can still be printed (on a physical printer, not a "virtual" one like a PDF driver), as-is without having the page next to it included, or the printouts always requiring landscape orientation (resulting with two "pages" from the PDF showing up on one sheet of paper).
So when the PDF is opened, I want just the front and back cover to be auto-viewed by themselves, and the content (the "meat" of the document) viewed side-by-side, as though one were actually reading a "book" -- but without actually re-doing the content pages to be "fused" side-by-side. Thus creating the "illusion" that they are, in fact, in booklet form. Is this possible, to have different page-display settings for different pages/page ranges in a single PDF? If so, how is this done? If not, what would be my best course of action otherwise to achieve this "virtual" book layout, while still retaining the "physical" structure of the document and allowing individual pages to be printed by themselves rather than "fused" together?
Using Acrobat X Pro on Windows 7 Pro SP1.

The best you can do practicably is the 'two up with cover page' view mode. The first page will appear singly but not centered, and to get the last page to behave it would have to be a folio sheet.
It's theoretically possible to use JavaScript to reset the view mode as each page is changed, but it makes for a nightmare of usability (what if someone on a smaller display wants to use 'fit to width'? Not an option if JS keeps overruling it). Anything involving JS won't work on non-Adobe software or mobile devices.
Not a programmer by any means, so I won't be using JavaScript because I wouldn't know where to begin. I was thinking more in terms of an option I could adjust in the menus or dialogues.

  • How do I set the Page size default in Adobe Reader using Window 8?

I need to set the page size everytime I go to print from my Adobe Reader in my windows 8. Is there a way to set the page I want letter (8.5 by 11) as a default? So I do not have to do this everytime I print something?

I can't help but wonder why Adobe doesn't respond to this - at this point there are 464 views of this item and still no answer. I have the same problem and it's a big irritation to have to set the duplex mode everytime I want to print!

  • How to set default view in Adobe Reader 9?

I am trying to figure out how to set adobe reader so that when you open a document you automatically get the page view on the right side come up and the document in full mode.  I have researched registry edits and also the customize wizard with no luck.  Does Adobe Reader have the capability to set these as defaults on any document?  I have the application setup to remember what I did so if I open the same document it will show pages and be in full mode; however, if I open a new document, I have to select the icon on the left to display pages and then set to full mode.  Thanks Joe

Does Adobe Reader have the capability to set these as defaults on any document?
Adobe Acrobat can do this, not Adobe Reader.

  • PDF Fonts change when viewed in Adobe Reader

I'm producing a PDF which will be viewed online. It's being creating in Pages 09 and I export it to PDF.
In Preview the PDF is fine - no problems. But when I view it in Adobe Reader the fonts have changed. I've tried all the fonts listed in the Font collection "PDF" and most recommended for Web.
Just to give you a couple of examples Times becomes blurry in Reader, while Helvetica looks more like Verdana.
I didn't have this problem prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard. I'd really appreciate if anyone could help with this. Thanks.

Peter, my apologies for not getting back to you sooner than this, I've been away from my Mac since I posted this.
Thank you for your very kind offer to look at the files for me. In between time a friend has been over and apparently altered some settings on my iMac and the problem seems to have been resolved. (I hope!)
Thanks again - I daresay I'll be back with more questions before long...

  • Only first page prints PDF files Adobe Reader 9 kb40558 fix Chinese version

We have been having a problem with Acrobat and Adobe Reader 9 only print the first few pages of multi-page PDF documents. This is fixed with kb40558 for our English versions but the students and I can not find where to make the change to Font and Resource Policy" dropdown to "Send for Each Page" in the Chinese version.
Can someone help - A Chinese language version of the KB or a screen shot of the location where the change is required would be most helpful

All I can suggest is that you go to the original article http://www.adobe.com/go/kb405589 and copy/paste the instructions with the appropriate options into http://translate.google.com/

  • Missing pages when printing in Adobe Reader 9?

I'm trying to print a chapter in a PDF document using the Bookmarks Navigational Panel but whenever I print the chapter (i.e. right-click on the chapter and select Print Pages), some pages are skipped and not printed.
I have tried to re-install Adobe Reader 9, print different chapters in the PDF document, print chapters in other PDF documents, and use different machines-- but I always get the same problem.  It seems that the only workaround is to use the File menu and print specific page numbers.
Is there a setting or a patch that I can apply to resolve this problem?  I would really like to print chapters from the bookmarks navigational panel and not have to look up the page numbers!

    Thanks ! - and you are most "welcome" "lera1981" ! .........
With respect to the printing problem with Reader 9.x and your report of your experiments with Reader 9.x and with network-printing then I tend to agree  with your assessment that it would seem as the problem is probably with Reader 9.x's printing capeability .
Just for the record I would like to report that my experience with network-connected office-class HP printer has been that some printing problems I've seen in the past with Adobe Reader X.xx has been rectified though the change of driver-type and/or driver-generation such as a switch from e.g. a "PCL 6" driver to a "PCL 5" driver .   Last time I experienced a printing problem with a network-connected office-class HP printer I then had to change the driver to their "HP Universal Print Driver".
While I would say that you are probably right that a change of printer-driver would not make a difference in your case then the point of my writing is that Adobe Reader X.xx or (it's interaction with) Windows seems to be "printer-driver tech-sensitive" understood as that Reader printing tends to respond differently to different "driver tech" !
    Kind Regards
    Fiat Lux !
